Share

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) in Livingstone, has refuted reports in some sections of the media that the former ruling party has suffered massive defections of its members to opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).

Vice Chairperson Luther Peyton has since described the reports as baseless and dangerous adding that they should not be condoned.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Livingstone today, Mr. Peyton assured the UNIP national leadership that the party was strong and intact adding that no party member has defected to the UPND.

He said the last resignation from the party in Livingstone was in 2006 when Captain John Mwamulima resigned for reasons related to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Mr. Peyton said plans were underway to conduct district and provincial elections within the shortest possible time.

  1. There is only one UNIP in Zambia and that UNIP is the founding party of Kaunda heaquartered at Kaunda house. It holds the certificate of registration with the registrar of societies and titles of many businesess around the country under ZAL Holding like SOPELAC, United Quaries, most commercial properties along Chachacha and Freedom Roads in Lusaka. The so called UNIP Revival Forum is a ficticious counterfeit in the imagination of the Chairman of FDD Malimbamasheke.Let them produce certificate and titles to the value of UNIP if indeed they are party of UNIP.UNIP is at Kaunda House formerly freedom house on Cairo road. But where is this counterfeit headquartered?

  2. UPND/PF PACT UNLIKELY TO WIN 2011 ELECTIONS ANAMELA

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) says the United Party for National Development-Patriotic Front (UPND-PF) Pact will not win next year’s elections.Reacting to UNIP Revival Forum leader Malimba Masheke who urged Zambians to guard the UPND/PF Pact with a sense of jealousy, UNIP vice president Njekwa Anamela says the pact will not win the 2011 general elections because both the characters of Mr Micheal Sata and Mr. Hakainde hichilema are questionable.

  3. He says UNIP worked with Mr Hakainde during 2006 elections stating that he cannot be president of the Zambia.

Mr Anamela says equally Mr. Sata served in UNIP and that it%u2019s clear that he cannot be president of Zambia.

Yesterday Gen Masheke said the Pact is the only solution to the many difficulties and challenges the county is facing.

Gen Masheke said the MMD has lost direction and that it is up to the Zambian people to make the right choice and decision by supporting the Pact.

  4. Oh! What a beautiful flag! U.N.I.P.’s flag is very professionally done. The others look very tacky, like they were designed by school children in Matero. The worst is the boat, my word< what mediocrity!
