MMD has formed pact with Zambians-RB

MMD rally

PRESIDENT Rupiah Bwezani Banda has retaliated that the ruling MMD has formed a pact with all Zambians ahead of the 2011 general elections. President Banda said this in Kawambwa yesterday when he addressed a large crowd of people at the air strip after touching down around 15:37 hours from Samfya.

Mr. Banda emphasised he is working with a bigger pact between his party and all the people of Zambia that will see the MMD emerge victorious. He implored all the people in the country to join the MMD and work together towards winning the 2011 elections.

Mr. Banda said he believes it is easier to make a workable pact with the people of Zambia than merging with another political party. The president said it was Zambian people who made him become republican president hence the need to form a bigger pact with them.

Meanwhile, Mr. Banda says he has never called for disunity in the country but had always been encouraging unity among all Zambians. He said other countries are developing because of peace and unity among the people and could therefore not encourage disunity in the country.

Earlier, Mr. Banda who was accompanied by health Minister Kapembwa Simbao, Defence Minister Kalombo Mwansa and Luapula Minister, Dr. Bornface Kawimbe among others commended the people of Kawambwa for voting him during 2008 presidential by-electon.President Banda also thanked Kawambwa residents for their warm welcome and urged them to continue promoting peace and unity to enhance development in the country.

However, he apologized for a short visit saying he could not stay long because he had to also visit Senior Chief Mushota of the Chishinga people of Kawambwa district before it gets dark.

  1. I wounder if a pact with Chiluba and other known plunderers can be refered to as a pact with the Zambia People. It appears the ‘Pact’ has rattled MMD and they are having sleepless nights.

  2. There goes empty speeches from a Man who wants to retian power. The remarks from the Preseident are very unfortunate to us as Zambians. They are a cleasr indication that the President has no agenda, no vision and no direction for the country. The is no man that can talk about campaning for the next term before they deliver for the term they have. Than hearing all rish junck, the people went their in numbers to hear if the President had any issues. Alas! People were eager to hear how poverty will be addressed, how much farming subsidies will be given but enough. People came back stressed than how they were when they went. This is very unfortunate that the country can have men of this caliber seeking the highest office in the land. Our advise is that RB retires while he still has dignity.

  3. Please pardon my typo errors in #2. I couldnt stand the incompetence of the Man claiming to have a PACT with us Zambians. I does have one with me. Which Zambians is he referring to? Only those whose citizinship was contested as from congo for somewhere. Yes, that PACT he has and not with the people of Zambia.

  4. RB, we know your pact is with Chiluba. Yesterday you were parading with another Chiluba henchman, Moses Katumbi. Sir, your pact is with plunderers. Zambians have No pact with such pipo.

  5. The only pact the zambian people would want with Banda is that which would smoothly help usher out the MMD out of government. I.D.I.O.T…..

  6. RB, please spare us from this useless PACK you are talking about. You have a pack with ba kabwalala and those whom you can buy using UBUFI.Came to town when people knows your currector and you will be shocked.VIVA PF_UPND, the real PACKT :((:((:((:((:((:((

  7. can someone update me please, what is katumbi doing again with banda after all the corruption they did with chiluba? is katumbi a zambian or congolese? what is the connection of chiluba and katumbi?

  8. I thot LT was going to be any different from govt controlled media like Times of Zambia,ZNBC & Daily Mail, but alas the site since they were warned is all too full of MMD news..plz give us beta news than this..we are all NOT MMD and dont give it a damn with their news..Maybe you have now replaced ZNBC because in most parts of the country, its been off air for 3 weeks now..

  9. Rupiah, it is not true that you have formed a pact with all Zambians. I am not one of them and any sane Zambian is not part of your fantasies.
On another issue, it is reported that he is going to appoint Christcles Mwansa as VP. Surely this man lacks diplomacy or is it a deliberate move to humiliate George Kunda. I’m sure Kunda has started clearing his office. There is no leadership in our country, it’s just a big circus at its best.

  10. Good Afternoon

With all due respect Mr. President, I did not sign any pact or agreement with MMD.

    Honest Regards

    Nine Chale;)

  11. Mr Banda has already made his calculation that HH will get votes in Southern, western and North western.he realy needs the votes from Luapula.Northern provice is arealdy divided between Sata and Banda.Bemba will vote for sata and those from Isoka, nakaonde, Mbala and mpulungu will be vote for Banda. The battle ground will be Lusaka and Copperbelt. Then definately Banda will get the presidency.

  12. RB please count me out of your legacy pact. I would rather stay on the moon than being in the pact with a person who associates with unrepentant plunderers who galavants a lot.:-w

RB is on record saying that the Zambians have welcomed the Chiluba verdict while in actual sense Zambians were bitter. Now I see thats why the post calls you names.;))

Lastly are you on a working trip or the campaign trip. You never cease to amaze me Kabysi^:)^

RB off the written speech a definite disaster~X( You know what? God knows :-??

  13. There is no Pact between president RB and Zambians. Come next year most Zambians will show him the door out of state house and out of the state house perimeter wall fence. At present most Zambians in many parts of the country want to see the back of RB. As one blogger has already asked, what is the connection between RB and Katumbi the Congolese? This is more the reason why Zambians must reject this president.

  14. History says never count your chicks before they hatch. Hope deferred makes the heart sick. PF counted in 2006 and 2008 what did they get no 2. So be sober in your talk. Word of advice: God has given each person to ears and one mouth, meaning listen more and talk less. Amano yaba mumatwi. So listen Pact. Remember Lusaka and Copperbelt are just a part of Zambia. Dont disregard the schools, hospitals and other thing the govt is doing. Lusaka and southern province radios do not represent the views of all Zambians.

  15. “””He implored all the people in the country to join the MMD and work together towards winning the 2011 elections.””” instead of imploring all the people in the country to develop zed but to win the elections what a shame:-w

  16. True Indeed RB has formed a PACT with Zambian people to remove him from power! :d No development issue in the speech….not inspiring….just politicking

  17. When Ghetto journalism of embattled tabloid was overtaken by delusions in panic

RB never promised Luapula chiefs vice presidency-State House

President Banda’ spokesperson Dickson Jere has dismissed the story published by the Post newspaper claiming that the president has promised chiefs from Luapula the vice-presidency.

In a spress statement to the Watchdog Friday afternoon, Jere sayid ‘at no time did the traditional leaders or the President himself ever discuss (formally or informally) the issue of the Vice-Presidency.

“ I wish to categorically state that His Excellency, Mr. Rupiah Banda, President of the Republic of Zambia, has never promised or discussed with anyone the issue of the Republican Vice-President during his working visit to Luapula Province.”

“ I wish to categorically state that His Excellency, Mr. Rupiah Banda, President of the Republic of Zambia, has never promised or discussed with anyone the issue of the Republican Vice-President during his working visit to Luapula Province.”

  19. Jere accused the Post newspaper of malice and misleading the public.

“Contrary to the misleading and malicious story published by The Post Newspaper of February 12, 2010 titled “Rupiah Promises Luapula Chiefs a Vice-President”, the President ‘s meeting with the traditional leaders centred on developmental issues such as health, education, roads and water transport.”

Jere said that apart from the reported meeting with Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe, President Banda held several other meetings with different chiefs where various issues were discussed.

He challenged the Post Newspaper to name the specific meeting or traditional leader who discussed the issue of the Vice-Presidency with the President during the visit to Luapula Province.

  20. “At no time has President Banda ever discussed with Mr. Chriticles Mwansa, Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner-General, on the possibility of his becoming Republican Vice-President as a way of enticing Luapula Province to vote for him in the 2011 General Elections,’ said Jere.“It is also worth noting that the Post Newspaper in the last few months had informed the nation that President Banda would appoint Livingstone Member of Parliament, Hon. Sakwiba Sikota MP, as Vice President of the Republic of Zambia. A few weeks later, the same newspaper informed the nation that its sources had informed it that Energy Minister, Hon. Kenneth Konga, MP, would be appointed Vice-President. Today, the same newspaper is telling the nation that Mr. Chriticles Mwansa is being considered for the…

    Jere ended by saying that:

“It is the wish of President Banda that the press in Zambia should be very factual in their reporting and verify information at all times before publishing to avoid misleading the nation.

  22. I am Zambian and I dont think I have ever made a pact with the MMD. Other parties around the world talk about there plans for the future if they stay in power, Mr Banda here doesnt know if he is coming or going, he would rather talk s*** about non existant pacts! What are your plans Mr Presdo? Why not talk about the many problems in the country including ZESCO, poor health and education system, the ever increasing number of street kids to name a few?!?
I am so sick of this fool!!
And LT I love your website but you are all about MMD these days, your pictures which used to be so colourful are all full of MMD. I thought you were a neutrual base when it came to politics but your actions these days are saying something else. [-([-([-(

  23. When I wrote in the morning about the Political shift in Luapula in particular and Zambia in general, some of you my beloved Zambians dissagreed but LT has shown how the attendance was in Luapula.Believe me, this will be the easiest election for RB. Look up untill now u guys be honest for once there is no positive way forward in the pact. This has left MMD way ahead of things. In your thinking FTJ is not a factor but surely no matter how bad one is he can still swing one or two votes, as for FTJ no matter how some of u people hate him when it comes to politics lets admit the Man can swing votes the same way he did for the un grateful Ba Satana. Sorry but the way things are on the ground, RB beyond 2011 !!!You can insult, rant that won’t translat to VOTES.LT nice picture KEEP IT UP!!!

  24. Hey!! This is surely Sad news for Sata. Please lets have a stand by Ambulance we might have another heart attack.I hope they don’t show him this picture. It will be bad because we need him for commedy you know.
Can you imagine a week without Sata ah! Mwikala patalala mwine apatalika.

  25. WHO is the the president of the UPND-PF PACT anywhere? KAPONYA TACTICS KAA! …I would rather vote for someone peaceful than kaponyas THUGS! whose members are always in courts for insulting and fighting:o:o

  26. It’s becoming vividly very CLEAR THAT LUSAKATIMES.COM.. ARE NOW SIDING THE rb and this mmd. Having done a content analysis of your so many recents lead stories, it appears you lost that impartiality, dreadly NEED IN THIS DAY AND AGE!!!!!!!
SORRY BUT I THINK ITS TRUE? IS IT???

  27. this talk of pacts makes me think of betrayal! sata-hh, rb and the ‘zambians’, cmon, who benefits anyway.they all just want power for themselves.a fool who performs is better than a lazy man who seems ‘wise’ man.at the moment, its all lip service from them all.

  28. What’s wrong with this sentence: “PRESIDENT Rupiah Bwezani Banda has retaliated that the ruling MMD has formed a pact with all Zambians ahead of the 2011 general elections.” I don’t know how many times we have to warn you LT about cutting and pasting stories from the government mouthpieces!!! Do you have any idea what the word “retaliated” means? Or you don’t care at all in your blind quest to out do each other as the leading mouth piece for Bwezani? Tombolilo @ #9, your observations are spot on!! This is more than disgusting!

  29. Zambians have a pact with MMD otherwise, they, the Zambians would not have voted for an inept person like Banda to president in office in the first place.I for one resides in the Diaspora and therefore have no pact with insanity.

  30. First of all iam impressed that RB decided to go to my village in Kawambwa, but these kinds of visits where you just go and solicit votes for the next elections are not very welcome. And what is this pact with the Zambians? Just campaign on the basis of what you have to offer and not the pacts, besides mwe bena Zambia do you really want to have a president who is over 70 years? Like really?? Its scary, iam not sure i want that but the opposition doesn’t seem to have much to offer too..

  31. Does Banda know that even people in PF/UPND Pact are also Zambians are in Zambia? So, when he says he MMD has made a Pact with Zambians, he should also consider that the other Pact in fact has the majority on their side. He should check the last elections and the by elections that Zambia just went through. Probably the Pact by PF and UPND carries more Zambians than MMD. If so, who should be on the mountain top claiming the same? Seems like the real Pact is PF?UPND Pact, politically, socially and economically. I say economically since they are the ones more in tune with the people than RB and George Kunda the real plunderer. Seems like at the end of the MMD term, Kunda will surpass FTJ in scheming.

  32. The statement by RB making a pact with Zambians is a very strong well calculated statement – no wonder people here are boiling. Whereas opposition parties are busy making pacts amongst themselves, his statement about making a pact with Zambians is just wonderful – I can assure you the PF-UPND pact would love to borrow it this statement, but too late. At this rate someone is gonna cry next year.

  33. RB u re a reject and standing in 2011 shall make u an embarrracement of yr self. The Zambia have clearly rejected yr claimed pact. SHAME ON U AND YR CORRUPT COLLEAGES.

  34. RB needs to be specific about the type of Zambians he`s signed the pact with. It`s clear that the pact is with thieves such as disgraced former president FTJ.It`s definately not with the masses that are subjected under adverse poverty while he`s busy increasing the milege on the presidential jet.

  35. #29, to which party does the “chief gang rapist” (Chalwe) who is in court for assaulting journalists belong? I think he fits the description in your post and I quote… “KAPONYA TACTICS KAA! …,THUGS.. in courts for insulting and fighting”!!!

  36. Now Prof Chirwa has joint the PF-UPND, The man has presidential ambitions, More Confusion to the PF-UPND PACK. I don’t Trust the PF/UPND pack the foundation is not strong enough to support its mass and its becoming heaver by day. Just like the PF BOAT Was not strong enough to support its wait, what happened- it sunk three times, so now father Noah has gone to Price Cobra for help,

I am only hoping the bloggers on this site are not using COMPANY TIME and COMPANY INTERNET cos they are also Plundering Company Resources.
