RB never promised Luapula chiefs the appointment of Chriticles Mwansa as Vice President-Jere

Share

ZRA Commissioner General Christicles Mwansa

State House has dismissed claims by the Post Newspaper that President Banda promised Chiefs in Luapula Province that President Banda will appoint Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Chriticles Mwansa as Republican Vice President.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Dickson Jere said President Banda has never promised or discussed with anyone the issue of the Republican Vice President during his working visit to Luapula Province.

Mr. Jere described as misleading and malicious a story published by The Post newspaper of today entitled “Rupiah Promises Luapula Chiefs a Vice President”.

He said this in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday.

Mr. Jere said at no time did President Banda ever discuss with Mr. Mwansa on the possibility of appointing him Vice President as a way of enticing people from Luapula Province to vote for him in the 2010 genenal elections

“I wish to categorically state that His Excellency , Mr. Rupiah Banda, President of the Republic of Zambia has never promissed or discussed with anyone the issue of the Republican Vice President during his working visit to Luapula Provice,” Mr. Jere said.

He said President Banda’s meeting with the traditional leaders in Luapula Province was centered on developmental issues such as health, education, roads and water transport.

Mr Jere said apart from meeting Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe, the President also held several other meetings with different chiefs where various issues were discussed.

At no time did Mr. Banda ever discuss with Mr. Chriticles Mwansa on the possibilities of him becoming his Vice President as a way of enticing Luapula province to vote for him in the 2011 tripartite elections.

Mr.Jere has since challenged the Post Newspaper to name the specific meeting or traditional leaders who discussed the issue of the Vice President with President Banda during his visit to Luapula province.

He noted that the Newspaper had in the last few months mis-informed the nation that President Banda would appoint Livingstone Member of Parliament Sakwiba Sikota as his Vice President.

Mr Jere further stated that the newsapaper also lied when it reported that he would appoint Energy Minister, Kenneth Konga as his vice.

He said President Banda wished the media in Zambia to be factual and verify information at all times before publishing to avoid misleading the nation.

  1. #1 You should have said THE POST promissed. Where did you hear RB say that? Just the post’s imagination.
Zambia is not looking for the veep, we already have a very very competent V.P. The Post is trying to intimdate G Kunda so that he stops working hard- Devide and rule formular but it has failed.C. Mwansa in case you don’t know how he found himself there is that he is one of the Mwatas in waiting. He is from the royal family. So let you and the Post keep on dreaming but iyi 2011 here we come again-watch the space!!!!!!

  2. How come he cannot just advertise this VP position in Times of Zambia or Daily Mail? Qualifications: Be able to lie openly, deliver some province to Banda (If possible put that province in a container or some envelope), after all he is desperado. Yaba, Zambia is now for sale. Give me a province, I will give you an office. There is a word for that, BRIBERY another form of CORRUPTION. So, presidents can do it openly, how I wish all positions operated in that form.

  3. Has anyone noticed, that once the post comes up with a story with an element of trueth in it,the state through either Shikapwasha,Jere or Mulongoti will come up with a defensive statement, just wondering, why doesnt the state take the post to court over all the lies they have peddled against Rupiah Banda, surely they must have strong grounds, all i read everyday is that the Post lied or insulted, can someone pls educate me and show me some of the insults and lies.
#2 thats a lie,Chriticles Mwansa is not from the royal family, neither will he ever be a mwata,he is merely in the organizing committee for the Umutomboko ceremony, and has some connections with most of the chiefs in luapula,,,,try to comment more on the auditor Generals’ reports thats more damaging and serious than these issues

  4. It seems the Post hates George and would want to give him sleepless nights. I wonder the motto, digging deeper, where has it gone? Maybe they are coming up with poop!

  5. The post has no ethical nor integrity in its dictionary. This dust bin paper will never learn to say the truth.Their ways of frustrating RB and MMD are going no where and i can tell you come 2011 Luapula province is in RB’s pocket. It never rains for PF-UPND pact, it pours! Mwasaswa ba kaponya.

  6. The post has lost the vision. It has be come very boring reading this paper. Each time they report its about confusion. I wish the post will start asking the opposing to come up who will stand in PF/UPND PACT. i see confusion in the pact. The people from North western , Western, Southern Central province part of lusaka and part of copperbel they are saying HH should stand the . SATA also along the line of railway up to lusaka, Luanpula and Northern if not addressed MMD may carry the day again. Guys rwo leaders agreeing is not enough i need your comment

  9. # 2 2011 HERE WE COME: Shows how behind you are in Zambian politics. RB had a closed meeting with some Luapula Chiefs and as usual he could have said something to that extent and probably one of the chiefs is a loud mouth and could have some how leaked the items discussed in that meeting. As for the Chiefdoms in Luapula, we are a diverse people with a lot of Senior Chiefs who has no paramount Chief to report to. As for Mwata, he falls under the Mwadi Ymvwa of the DRC and he is in no way connected to the other Senior Chiefs on the Zambian side of the Luapula River. So if RB thinks he is dealing with one people, he is mistaken.

#4 Smoothcriminal: Thanx for educating the above Boot Licker

  10. # Lion.
The Post do not publish articles or story without backing evidence.Let Jere Push them to the wall and you will be suprised and it wil be emberassing to someone.its unfortunate that you cant see which tabloids are unethical in Zambia.thoz which are used to used against thed citizenry.OPEN YOUR EYEZ myg brother.

  11. There is no smoke without fire ! Do you pipo think fred membe and the group can cook a story like this ? Am sure RB promosed something and the fact that the state has become defensive all of a sudden speaks volumes.:-?

  12. #11 & 12, I think you guyz can tell us the truth. we only see Zed through the media, you guyz on the ground may be correct, big up![-(

  13. The post is the best paper zambians have ever had. Without the post zambia would have been ruled by dictators. See all those opposing it what they say. Little scared men who will soon go to hell. Judgement is upon them and will live in eternal misery

  14. A closed door meeting and then something comes out in the open? what type of leadership is that? If RB ever mentioned that, then it should have been out of excitement after seeing a young Mwata Kazembe and whaever was said there should have remained “buried” in the Palace 🙂

  15. Good Morning

RB may be ultimately forced into making certain strategic appointments just to make sure he wins the next elections. Whether true or false, this might just be an example. Zambians should be more concerned about the role of UPND and PF in terms of a power-sharing arrangements. Or else we might aswell redeclare Zambia a one party state again.

They lamented that the entire exercise aimed at “a graceful exit strategy” for the US and its allies and “appears to have been carefully stage-managed to allow the US and NATO troops to start scripting a withdrawal. But perceived in a certain light, it could be counter-productive.”

  16. #18 Prosperous- The late Bishop Dennis De jong used to say that the best way to treat a lie is to ignore it. But when people come out with all sorts of excuses, then know there is some element of truth in the statement. Like some one mentioned it here, RB could have been awed by the presence of the Mwata and got excited to an extent where any thing could have come out his mouth.

  17. # 11- 12 you are confused and wake up. what was mwansa doing in Luapula province with RB ?that chap(mwansa) was suppose to be in the office doing what he is paid for to do . What mwata in the waiting . Jere can you tell us how they appoint the Mwata or how one gets to become a mwata Kazembe.
you Jere you had so much brains when you were at the Post , what has happened ? is for the love of the money ?
#2 you are living in a dream . where are you coming . have you been away from HOME too long ?

  18. Then why was testicles mwansa and katumbi in luapula when RB was there? surely the head of ZRA has important things than parading in skirts at a chiefdom. The best thing RB can do for luapula people is to promise them a new president

  19. We can see RB wants Luapula votes, Mwansa wants to be Vice President, but what is in it for Katumbi Katoto?? I hope RB doesn’t sell Zambia, as we have nothing..only the minerals, which can’t be called enough for all Zambians..))

  20. Let us not include The Mwata in the Conversation. May I also inform you that Mwata is a very Educated Man, that worked for ZCCM Corporate for a very long time and was only recalled to become one. Mwansa does not belong to Royalty, but Mutomboko Organising Committee Chairperson who can be replaced with Lunda tribeman at any time. Leave out the Mwata, he is not a person who can be bought over, but a very respected paramount Chief.

  21. Humpty Dumpty alobe lwauma. Let me tell you that even if a DOG where to stand where Elizabeth Chitika Molobeka did in Kawambwa, that DOG would have gone through. No one knew Chitika. We are resolved and Mwalya Mweka Daddy (MMD) will not cheat on us. Chiluba can not even boost of coming from Lwapula, when he failed to even put up his own 2 roomed shack at Musangu, but rather distroyed Mansa Batteries, Kawambwa Tea Estate, Mununshi Banana Estate and Kashikishi Fish Storage. HE IS COOKED AND WILL ROT IN JAIL

  22. Mwanta is very smart person, is young he knows more about this RB tactics. RB dont sink so low with the luapula people by promising the a VP they had a president who is born about 40km from the mwanta palace and he do nothing for them apart from destroying luapula than he find it so what can a VP do who dont even have powers. And MR Jere there is no smoke without fire, if its not true why are you defending it? why cant you just take post to court or keep your mouth shurt just coz you know you have cought.

  23. The mwata has made it clear in the past. He has said it is up to people to decide for whom they will vote for. RB must have gone to visit the flood victims in Lusaka instead of wasting his time. Ama kampeni where you start 3 years before ama ellections yashani

  24. There is no smoke without fire; Mr C. Mwansa is better for the post. He can do better than the current one. Mr C Mwansa has been a hard working Zambian through out even now at ZRA. RB iwe; dont play with our mind… just appoint him, I for one support it.

  25. RB has been caught flat footed.RB needs to advised that information in this era spreads in realtime. Those UNIP days are gone where lies were under key and lock.LPM,where did you get this demagogue?

  26. They shud just change the name of that tabloid , from the post to the mpofu, bcause i think they writting with hatred, thats y wen u read that sheet u develop hatred for pple, like its satan writting there to destroy not to build. Rubish pple.

  27. That Mwata Kazembe is a thief, I worked with him at Zanaco main branch and was fired at the time Magande was MD. However , Magande shielded his niece who stole money at Zanaco premium house where she was a cashier.

  28. @#34. what’s in question here is what was said at the palace by presido and not whether Mwata Kazembe stole funds or mismanaged a ZANACO branch. please, stick to articles so as not to mislead others.

  29. #31, while it maybe true that C Mwansa is a hard and maybe innovative worker, is the appointment of a vp not a national issue, and if so why not let Zambians know about it but let a foreigner be previledged to such info? And why promise so many people for vp? The promise Luapula peopl need is the tarring of Peddicle road from Levy Mwanawasa Bridge to Mokambo. That will encourage business and tourism in that natural resources endowed province.

  30. They don’t need a VP. Because, already they have had a president who only proved that he cannot only steal but massively. To anyone who has been in that part of Zambia, thats the province that can comfortably feed the whole Zambia if we had leaders with brains. Unfortunately, all our leaders have a defficiency of it.

  31. Pa Zambia pabafya ama politics yabula vision. As somebody has said, they bribe people of Luapula with a bridge, which in itself is a great idea. But it needs other supporting infrastructure to turn the area into a viable economic powerhouse. This is what Kaunda used to do – build white elephants, such as Mansa battery and Kapiri Glass. It was a waste of money but was designed to bribe our naive chiefs and their people. More than one two decades later successive presidents are still doing the same.

  32. #38 The people of Luapula did not appoint Kafupi. It was the whole country that voted for him. To develop mentally, politically and economically we need to get away from lumping people together as tribes and putting labels on them. This backward thinking exhibited by our primitive leaders will not get us anywhere!

  33. #41 Chitapankwa, understand the context of my argument. It is not about lumping people together as a tribe. I am talking about the president discussing real developmental issues rather than hoodwinking people with a vice presidency promise. If you think about it-is that a developmental issue? That an issue suggesting that RB still wants to cling to power where he has completely proved to be a deadwood. Thats my line of argument. But, you are very free to misunderstand and it is not a crime. It would have been one in Zambia.

  34. I’m in Support of those who want the Mwata not to be part of these debates becoz he is not a simple person,Let us respect all our Traditonal Leaders,if one has any advise to give, they sholud write to them as you may be well aware all chiefdoms are under Local Govt meaning if you send a letter address of any District Council were the Chifdom is, the letter can be delivered and responsible officer either the administrator or anyone assigned by the Establishment can deliver the message as you the Mwata can’t read any letter for obvious reasons. It is for that reason that I advise any Govt to disist from using Royal Establishments for their Political gain.Royal Establishments are for everyone opposition or Ruling Parties.

  35. COME TWENTY ELEVEN, you are in trouble, mwasepwa imwe. You are evil, you canot even support any development in the country! What kind of hatred is that? Right from the start! You are wvil bane. Give RB his time to work, and wait for yours if it ever come, I doubt.
