Politics is about numbers and rate of voter conversion than insults in the tabloids or inactional micro blogging only.Its interesting to read the illusion of the so-called PACT victory inn the absence of any action on the ground.MMD and President Banda are busy building country wide webs of winning relations in a PACT with Zambians while two chronicle losers are digressing with the mechanism of marriage of convenience to nowhere.If not too busy rehearsing insults at the tabloid for a daily headline, they are placing orders for independent Campaign trails.

The sad reality for the PACT is that Zambia is bigger than a tabloid editorial they are busy fighting for or Rajan Mathani they are worshipping.There are over a total of 72 districts, more than 100 Chiefdoms,150 constituencies and 9 provinces to canvass ruling votes from within few months yet still busy rehearsing insults. Like many other regions they believes they are defacto parties, Luapula is gone. Mmembe before RB visted the province fooled then that he would be stoned and see no one in receiption.But RB was innudated with massive crowds in solidarity wherever he turned to and no stone moved.The legion of deluded failures and hate mongers are confused.

In Lusaka, the MMD provincial Chairman William Banda and the Head of state President Banda are seasoned Lusaka Grassroot political magnets.They are best informed of the political strata and demographics totally in their favour. They know better where fortunes and needs of the people are than cheap politics of insults and hatred.

While Sata only knows Kawata and Hichilema a little connected in Chawama’s John Howard, Kuomboka and John Lang due to demographics, William Banda is better grounded in the political terrains of Matero, Chunga, Balastone, Ngwerere, 6 miles, Kabanana, Chazanga, Mandevu, Chaisa, Chipata compound, Ng’ombe, Kalulu, Mazyopa, Mutendere, Bauleni, Misisi, and Garden compound.Here we go OVER 260 members of the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party for National Development(UPND) yesterday defected to the ruling Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) in Lusaka’s Matero constituency.Its not stunning to see these flood of mass defections.

8. Ok, now Mr FJT Chiluba, please advise William Banda to please stop illegal allocation of land in Lusaka (e.g. Kalikiliki/Kalale) area to MMD cadres. Please follow the law and do not give cadres land already on title and belonging to investors. Open up more land to allocate to cadres and other landless people.

   Illegal land allocation only makes MMD unpopular among Lusaka voters.

9. A country and political structure cannot be built on incorrigible hatred evidently manifesting from the heart of the so called fragile PACT. Always hatred and lies begets hatred.Sata and his step son ichilema have proved themselves as reckless paragons of incorrigible hatred, ego, lies, unpatriotism, Narcisstic tendencies, inimical to our unitary state, with an anti democratic inclination of rule by decree of the three arms of democratic Government system.

Since Sata claims to have more Data on FTJ, I guess we expect bombs everywhere this week. This is getting interesting. This could well be MMD’s campaign theme for 2011 launched by FTJ. This message if repeated over and over it would sell to the grass root people who happen to the the majority of voters. As an intellectual, I can see through all this sharade, but we are only few and again I would rather have RB , than SATA or HH. If the PACT drop these two, they will get my vote. I have great reservation for SATA and HH. And if what FTJ is saying is true about HH, then HH is a snake and this confirms my suspicion about him.

12. A political entity that has forefeited its spirit and call to rule through laws but hatred of a tabloid is not worthy of our institutions of power. A PACT that dances to the whims of an embattled gutter journalism misled tabloid is not worthy of the sacred opportunity to preside over a self respected and democratic people of Zambia. 14. The 2011 campaign trail will be localized and tailored on the terms of the native languages that appeal on issues.It will not be standardized as it where. Though highly expensive, but the solidarity of democracy and sustainable peace will spiritedly sustain the cost to the finish line.

17. Govt initiates developmental projects in Luapula

    President Banda’s Government has adopted education as catalyst for economic development, which has prompted Government to embark on the construction of secondary high schools in all the nine provinces of the country.

    President Banda was in Luapula Province recently where he inspected developmental projects. JERRY MUNTALI and INNOCENT DAKA report.

18. AN educated population is the cornerstone of any
    country’s development.

    This is the reason why Government through the leadership of President Banda has placed the education sector on top of its developmental agenda.

    The President is alive to the fact that Zambia cannot achieve meaningful development without an educated citizenry.

19. Government has therefore embarked on infrastructure development in all parts of the country, including those that are perceived to be under the control of opposition political parties.

    One such province is Luapula, where the ruling MMD closely battled it out with the Patriotic Front (PF) in the 2006 tripartite elections and 2008 presidential elections.

    President Banda’s administration has demonstrated the desire to unite the nation by ensuring that all parts of the country have an equal share of national resources.

20. Government’s allocation of K200 billion to infrastructure development in Luapula Province is testimony to this.

    Minister of Education Dora Siliya who was part of a presidential entourage to Luapula, said Government will spend K200 billion on the construction of schools in the province.

    Ms Siliya said six high schools have so far been constructed in the province.

21. One of them is Lukwesa High School, the first technical school in Mwense district. The school which was built at a cost of K23 billion, has state-of-the-art learning facilities such as computer and chemical laboratories.

    President Banda visited the school and encouraged pupils to concentrate

    on their studies for them to have a brighter future.
    After a conducted tour of Lukwesa High School, President Banda addressed the pupils who were visibly cheered by his visit to their school.

22. He said educated people are the essential material required for transformation of the country. Mr Banda said it would be difficult for the country to develop without educated citizens.

    “My Government under my leadership, my colleagues and all ministers we have a dream to transform this country and we have decided that the dream must start with education .You cannot transform anything if the raw material for transformation, meaning you the children, are not educated,” he said.

23. The midget had the audacity to attack local councils for not maintaining the roads! How stup id can one be! Someone give me a district/city in Zambia which has nice roads? The st u pi d villagers who got duped into voting for MMD are the worst hit when it comes to roads.

    Mr Banda said his parents were illiterate but he managed to get educated because he listened to teachers and was disciplined despite pressure from his peers to go astray.

    President Banda said he would like to see a kind of nation where anyone could maximise their potential in any field of their specialisation.

26. He said any person can rise to their best potential and become teachers, lawyers, doctors or even rise to be a president of the country.

    President Banda said he is 73 years old and his youth days were preoccupied with liberating the country from colonial rule.

    “Our generation as young people of this country was to liberate Zambia. We fought. All the youth of Zambia from Luapula, Northern and Southern province, Eastern and Central provinces. All the young people rebelled against colonialism in order to liberate the country,” he said.

27. Mr Banda said the task of the young generation now is to develop the nation, and this can only happen if the youth are properly educated.

    In Samfya, President Banda told school children to listen to their parents and teachers, and concentrate on their studies, while at the same time listen to leaders carefully, but abhor people who were encouraging them to disobey elders.

    Apart from meeting the Ngumbo, Kabende and Unga chiefs in Samfya, President Banda also toured a district hospital.

29. “It is satisfying that money put aside is reaching the ground for implementation of projects,” he said of the hospital that government is building at a cost of K3.9 billion.

    In Mansa, the President met the Ushi chiefs, toured Mansa general hospital where he donated to parents newly born quadruplets before flying to Mwense district.

    A visit to Mwense was not on the President’s itinerary. Mwense District Commissioner Benjamin Chama said: “I was just informed at 06.00 hours today that the President was coming here.”

30. Despite the belated decision to get there, news of the President visiting the district travelled quickly and a huge crowd mobbed the Head of State like elsewhere when he touched down.

    Speaking when he received the President at Mansa Airport, MMD provincial chairperson Crispine Musosha said the MMD was regaining its popularity in Luapula because of the many developmental projects going on in the area.

31. “Your excellency, I want to inform you that the MMD is gaining ground after loss of 10 parliamentary seats in the last elections,” Mr Musosha said, adding that “the shift in the paradigm is due to the good development policies of your government and the party”.

    He said the construction of three hospitals at Samfya, Chienge and upgrading of maternity wards at Katanshya and Mantumbusa health centres among others showed how government values the lives of the people in the province.

32. Government is building three district hospitals in Samfya, Chienge and Milenge, with each project costing about K3.9 billion.

    Addressing the crowd, President Banda said: “It is gratifying to be received by such a warm welcome and I feel humbled by you people for the trust you gave me to look after the affairs of the country”.

    The President stated that he was in Luapula Province to start his intended programme to go deep into areas, away from Lusaka, to see the projects financed by government.

34. “I am here for the next three days, I will try my best to go as deep inside as possible in this province so that the people have a chance to see me and hear me and to see my colleagues – the ministers who are working very hard to provide the necessary services to them.

    “Together with my colleagues the ministers, we have come to see whether the projects that we financed have actually started and how far they have gone,” President Banda said.

    “We will continue to do this at every stage in every province of our country from now onwards until the end of the year.”

35. He also seized the moment to prove that rather than party politics, his reason of going around the country and meeting the people was to assure them that government was committed to deliver on its campaign promises of 2008.

    As a national leader, he stated that his business is to promote unity, reconciliation and respect for the people he leads, including all former presidents.

    “I am not going to stoop so low to start insulting those who insult me in newspapers,” he said as the crowd responded with cheers.

38. The people of Luapula expressed gratitude towards Government’s decision of building
    more schools in the province.

    Lackson Musonda, a peasant farmer, said the people of Luapula were more interested in the development of the province than in political rhetoric.

    He said the construction of the Lukwesa Secondary High School will give the children of Mwense access to quality education.

    He noted that in the past children of Mwense had to travel long distances to access education facilities. Not any more.

39. Rupiah delivering on the promise with vigour

    IT IS now clear that President Banda means well for this country. Even some sections of the Zambian society who do not see anything good in him are beginning to shudder as he relentlessly continues to pursue his development agenda.

    He is moving with vigour from one part of the country to another to see for himself the developments that his government is delivering to the people.

    Unfortunately, some opposition political parties and some civil society organisations do not see anything good in President Banda and his government.

    All they have done is to orchestrate a slanderous campaign based on political innuendos so as to portray a gloomy picture that he has failed to perform to the expectations of Zambians.

40. However, President Banda has done well under the current economic and political situation. The economy has stabilised and now the country is poised for steady growth this year and beyond.

    Even our economic development partners – the investors – know that this country has the leadership that continues to create opportunities for investment to flourish and prosper.

    That is the more reason why they continue to pour in millions of dollars in various sectors of our economy to do business because they know that they will reap huge profits and at the same time create employment for the unemployed Zambians.

    This investment is contributing significantly to our national treasury in terms of taxes. This means that we will have more money to pay for education, health, agriculture,…

    Instead of following closely what the President was doing in the province, they decided to politicise his visit because that is what they are good at. We heard them saying that when President Banda had a meeting with Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people, he offered to give the vice-presidency to Luapula Province if he wins the 2011 elections.

    This matter, however, was not discussed and was not even on the agenda of that meeting. The Mwata himself has come out in the open to categorically state that never was such an issue discussed.

43. The role our traditional leaders play in this country can never be overstated. Our traditional rulers are agents of development because they preside over the affairs of people in their chiefdoms.

    You check once again on your national registration card, you will notice that there’s a name of the village and the chief you come from even if you have never been there.

    So when the President has meetings with these traditional rulers, it is meant for him to hear the development projects and programmes that need to be undertaken so that ultimately the suffering of the people is eased.

    It is also one way of promoting unity in the country between political and traditional leaders because you can’t talk or indeed develop when people are divided and fragmented.

45. In his inaugural speech at Parliament buildings in 2008, President Banda promised that he was going to be President of all Zambians and that he was going to promote peace in the nation. That is exactly what he is doing today.

    He has vigorously continued to pursue peace as a tool to achieving national unity and development even when he is receiving insults from opponents.

    But that is the price he has to pay. That is the price of leadership. He continues to be a brave captain of the Zambian ship even as it passes over very heavy political and economic storms and winds.

    It is worth acknowledging that our men and women in uniform work under very challenging conditions. Accommodation has been one of the problems that the security personnel face.

46. A few days ago in Ndola, President Banda commissioned 280 housing units for the Zambia Police. This is a very good motivation for the police to provide security for all.

    The construction of police houses is taking place in other parts of the country as well. That is what we want to see in the nation. These are the issues we want our opposition leaders to be talking about.

    I have on several times heard people complaining about why they voted for certain political parties that exist mainly only along the line of rail. In 2011 there will be big surprises on how people are going to vote especially along the line of rail.

    President Banda is a leader that needs all the support of all well meaning Zambians in order for him to propel this nation to a level like that of South Korea where we should have been 20 years ago.

    The President understands that only hard work, good policies, and above all, love of the country will drive him to leave Zambia a proud nation.

    The campaign against President Banda and government based on innuendos cannot be sustained. Such people can do all sorts of things to derail government from delivering services to its people, but the resolve of RB to pursue economic prosperity for Zambia will not be shaken.

    Having already read some excerpts of this speech pasted by King Solomon on the Finance Bank thread, I still marvel at the remarkable eloquence and emphatic energy of persuasion with which the former president has defended his cause. At least judging by the theoretical context alone, this is a well articulated and thoughtfully presented speech.

73. MINISTER OF Tourism and Natural Resources Catherine Namugala has dedicated her African Tourism Minister of the Year Award to President Banda.

    Ms Namugala says she has decided to dedicate the award to the President for he is the one who appointed her.

    She said she is proud to have won the award on behalf of the country because it shows that the efforts her ministry has made in the tourism sector have been recognised.

    Ms Namugala said the award will boost morale of all officials at the Ministry of Tourism to work hard in marketing Zambia’s tourism industry.
