Michael Sata agrees to appear before the Bemba Royal Council

Share

Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata has agreed to appear before the Bemba Royal Council after he was summoned for allegedly issuing disparaging remarks against Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people in Northern Province.

Speaking during a live Bemba programme on Radio Mano in Kasama today, Mr. Sata revealed that he would soon make himself available to the Shi-Lubemba’s traditional council to answer charges of allegedly attacking Paramount Chief Chitimukulu in public.

He claimed that he had not refused to appear before the Chitimukulu but wanted procedure to be followed in summoning him.

Mr. Sata said he has a lot of respect for Paramount Chief Chitimukulu, whom he regards as his relative and would therefore, not do anything to jeopardize their relationship.

And Mr. Sata has continued to remain silent over his alleged traditional marriage to Archbishop of Lusaka Telesphor Mpundu’s sister, Patronella.

Speaking during the same programme, Mr. Sata said he would not be drawn into discussing his relationship with Archbishop Mpundu’s sister.

Mr. Sata refused to respond to a text message from a listener who wanted him to explain his alleged traditional marriage to the Archbishop’s sister.

He argued that he would not respond to the ‘so-called marriage’ issue because only MMD cadres were asking questions bordering on his personal life.

Recently, former president Frederick Chiluba revealed that Mr. Sata had a traditional marriage with Archbishop Mpundu’s sister, Patronella.

Dr. Chiluba revealed that Mr. Sata has two children with the same woman, who is an employee of the Bank of Zambia in Ndola and the PF leader acknowledged the revelation.

Archbishop Mpundu earlier this week also admitted that Mr. Sata had fathered two children with his sister outside wedlock but could not state the relationship between the two.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sata has said he was ready to be challenged for the position of PF president at the party’s general assembly to be held later this year.

Mr. Sata has since urged those willing to challenge him to declare their interests now, adding that his party had started holding primary elections at lower organs.

He said all but one of the positions in the party would be contested for at the general assembly to be attended by 6, 500 delegates.

Mr. Sata explained that the post of Secretary General would not be elective but instead the party president would choose the person to take up the position.

He said the move was aimed at ensuring that the party leader worked with someone whom he or she understands well.

In another development, Mr. Sata has revealed that a technical committee would soon meet and advise the PF-UPND pact on which candidates to contest the parliamentary by-elections in Eastern and Northwestern Provinces following the deaths of incumbent Members of Parliament.

He said the committee would also weigh the strengths of each party in the particular constituencies where elections would be held before adopting an aspiring candidate to contest the by-election.

Mr. Sata further expressed confidence that the PF-UPND pact would scoop the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in the two provinces claiming that it was strong on the ground.

  1. good move to have a running mate you can work with. secondly meet the chiefs make peace so that we can now go to war without side worries but entirely focused on defeating Bwezani Banda and his croonies.

  2. I personally tired of all these Sata stories inthe press. When shall read about the welfare of average Zambian?

  3. Ba Sata, ba shikulu. Keep your diginity, step away from Zambian politicians. You are old now, think about a legacy for the many children you have all over Zambia. Leave them some livelihood.

    Nobucende munasheko mwakula shikulu

  4. #3 Lishki Mwanakwenda – I like your name, reminds of dancing on copperbelt streets doing the dance.

  5. He has now come back to his senses and reliased that attacking traditional chiefs is not only retrogressive but political suicide on on his part.He should get good advisors and start listening and constantly consulting them before talking.

  6. AEIOU na Lishiki Mwankwenda!! Your names have made my day!! We never worried about politics during those days!!

  7. # 3 you are being naive, the welfare of the poor is connected with politics and Sata is the pivot of zambian politics today. once the elections are over then the welfare of zambians proper will be the centre stage. # 4 you are way out of line, if you can call Sata ba shikulu then you cant speak of his sexual conduct. its un African since he is your elder. Secondly since you seem not to have respect for elders, you can atleast educate your self with the information that Mr Sata had those kids along time ago. He may have made a mistake then so you cant imply like he is promiscous now

  8. Mwe bantu, we all sleep with other people’s sisters without getting permission from them (brothers). Archbishop Mpundu probably knew about it when he was told his sister was impregnanted by Sata. He (Mpundu) had nothing to do with Sata and Petronella when they decided to bed each other. Chiluba, the man who brought out this issue, bribed Mr Mwanza with positions at Indeni and other material things like shops that Regina was running in Ndola, kanshi alesheta kapala. FTJ, remember in 1996 when you made a stop over at Star Bakery on Arusha Street after a campaign tour, how you personally walked across the shop floor to give Regina a bottle of Limca? We all started suspecting from that time. Vera used to organise women to sing abusive songs against Regina. Tatwalaba!

  9. # 6 your advise is a bit too late because he has just done what you are trying to advise him. One thing we cant take away from Sata is he listens when critisized and he comes down from his high horse. Those are strong attributes of a good leader.

  10. Now he seems to be having good advisers – or perhaps Chiluba’s revelations sobered him up! Was getting tired of his roughshod and ‘untouchable’ behaviour…

  11. # 9 you have a good memory, you even remember a bottle of LIMCA. Regina was cheap then you could bed her with just a bottle of LIMCA. later she upgraded to a TV. I think she is a cheap lay. boss number 4 lekeni Sata ateke ko naena, atleast 1 term.# 10 chief mwaliba ko emotional or is it fanatical about Sata

  12. Bloggers have you read on the other thread, this Sata chap, also did ntwenu with Petronella’s sister. Is this true, that Sata had s e x u al intercourse with sisters and impregnated them both. And one of the sisters has been whisked off to Canada for cover. IS THIS THE CHANGE YOU WANT IN ZAMBIA.

Thank you lord Jesus for these revelations, you are really letting us know what type of man Sata is. Sata is indeed evil and God will not brinng him anywhere near the reigns of power. PF find another candidate. Only an animal, like a dog can sleep with sisters and impregnant them both. It is sabbath let me go and pray for my country, so more evil deeds of this Sata will come out. Bring it all out we want to know more. Sata is finished.

  13. # 13 grow up and get a life. dont start rumours here. leave that to girls. A man should deal with facts not hearsay.

  14. New revelation – The blogger named “Ibange Libi” is Sata’s henchman planted here to defend Sata. Get a life my brother. Sata will never be president. He will just continue bedding sisters and swapping foolish stories with Chiluba bygone.

    • How does it feel now that Sata is the President watch you mouth and steps guys you are not God. God’s will has prevelled no weapon built against man shall prosper, now you are the same guys busy criticising the Government talking of 90 day, but in the first place did you even believe in it and later on did you vote for PF so just shut up and if you have issues with the current regime why dont you wait and vote against it in 2016 that is if at all there will be another credible person to vote for. The mapatizya president or the Pastor

  15. Flip flopping again. I thought he told the Chitimukulu where to go. Seems he has learnt that he needs to get people on board if he wants to get to state house (God forbid).

  16. #15 May be he is the son of Sata, the one he had with this woman Margret, who has been whiske dto Canada to avoid media. For your information, unless ZW is spreads rumours, your father has been exposed there. He is not a man that Sata he is an animal. And you blogging here trying to justify his capabilities as a leader and hopes for presidency are just in your head. Sata is too evil, God cant give us a Mugabe like president in Zambia. Sata will never rule, infact Chipimo will take the vote of all you bemba tribalist who support Sata for the sake of his tribe. Move on son you have a better candidate who is Bemba that you can support, than that promiscous man you call father. I mean how can you do damage in one home like that. Sata needs to go ku rehab, he is sick, short of being a pervert.

  17. #15 if you notice he also blogs as John, My Toyota is faulty and AIEOU, This is one person Sata’s henchman aka as his bastard son in Zambia, the son of Margret Petronella’s sister. You are not fooling anyone with your blind loyalty to Sata.

  18. Imwe bana ba kwitu, mukuyoya ati Sata aliku bengwa basungwana Zambia yonse?Pala uyu munyake FTJ wakususya comeni

  19. People can you discuss real issues here. It’s not a crime to have two or wives more as some people have. You are diverting the attention of the masses by bringing cheap issues like Sata/ Patronella relation here. That will not develop Zambia atall. Talk of plunder of national resources and the like. Be objective and sensible. If you have nothing to talk about just sit back and relax. You are making shame of your selves.Zambia will not develop if you continue meddling in cheap issues. Zambians are interested in development, good hospitals, roads and so forth.

  20. #20 Do you think that that Sata would put a stop to the plunder of Zambia’s resources? If so, why did he not resign from the Chiluba administration instead of pushing for the third-term so that Chiluba could steal in perpetuitiy?

  21. I thought his deadline to see chitimukulu past on dec 25? So even if he tries to go back with his tail between his legs, he will just be tossed back to Lusaka, where has a better relationship with his cousin the POST.

  22. Good Morning

It is a good thing that he has finally agreed to appear before the Council. Reconciliation is a great deal more important than spending time on clarification of personal relationships.

  23. #11 Good observation – this may be the positive outcome for Mr. Sata from Chiluba’s revelations. But coupled with Mr. Sata’s un-appealing test to Zambians, the damage is too much. # 9, It is not the absence of consent of the Archbishop that is at issue. What is at issue is that Mr. Sata in his misguided wisdom chose to belabor Mr. Chiluba’s promiscuity knowing full well that he has worse skeletons in his closet. The connection of the lady to the Archbishop and the Eucharist issue are of interest. With regard to the Eucharist, it is incumbent upon Mr. Sata to realize that given his situation he should not be receiving the Eucharist. His failure to make this judgment reflects poorly on him as a leader – translating into unsuitability for leadership.

  24. #3, who forces you to read about Michael Sata? If you can’t avoid reading about Sata, just that thats how he is important in the life of Zambia.
#8, abaice aba abakweba ati aikalakofye ten day kubulya or america tabalekwata umucinshi. Abanabo ba mwenye bakopako technology ku overseas. Ama Zambians abaice baya mukutulako fye amatwi. Nabakashana nabo ukwenda natu G string palwelele. Ena alemona fulu ukutuka bawishi ekuba cool.

  25. #11, elo umwishibe Sata? Sata has very good advisers and listens. Thats why whichever ministry he ran improved tremendously.

  26. #15, when did you last visit Zambia? You don’t seem to know who commands what there. Mind you, without Sata MMD would have been having peaceful nights. Thats the only opposition leader they fear. Others don’t scare them.

  27. # 18, it just shows how shallow your reasoning is? just because they are other bloggers with similar flags does not mean its the same person. They are plenty of bloggers based in SA that support Sata and who will go home and vote for him, unlike you the arm chair critic who probably cant even afford to go home to vote because you cant afford your flights and your papers are dubious, once you go out you are never coming in. # 15 like it or not Sata’s time to rule has come so deal with it

  28. Now Mr.Sata has done the right thing but I urge the Bemba Royal Establishment should not Intimidate Mr.Sata.Like I said earlier on over the same matter,Our Chiefs Should embrace every one not Supporting Openly any Political Party ,this is very wrong and should be condemned by all well meaning zambians. Mr. Sata has now humbled himself so the Royal establishment should humble itself as well .

  29. Ba tata ba Sata nimpalume, you guys in diaspora stop speculating. you are dealing with an ex convict who wont be allowed to rule this country

  30. When a man takes a step in the right direction EMBRACE IT. Taking it out personally doesnt help ANYONE!! Akulandeni pafituntulu, ala!

  31. Can someone plse tell me where RB and his team are. They left China on thursday and today its saturday, but no word on far how far or close they are to home.

  32. I met a ho callin herself Chilufya Sata na at Manda Hill O’Hagans pub, the kid was looking for attention from muzungu men, has anyone seen her lately? She couldn’t answer one simple question, about how many there were in her family? Poor Btich:-\”

  33. Sata na mulubana since FTJ put you where you belong. Pa first mwale ponta ati there is no such thing as The Bemba Royal Council kuli ba shi-lubemba. Today you have accepted it; at last. You should know that; Intambi ni ntambi. We are watching you closely until you change. I used to admire you so much as KING COBRA. Anyway you can still do well if you stop attacking FTJ. Badi ni ba kateka.

  34. His remarks exposed Archbishop Mpundu’s personal disdain for Chiluba who he termed without bothering to produce evidence, foundation or justification as a ‘’sworn political adversary of the Catholic Church’’!
Archbishop Mpundu address was characterized by constant demeaning references to his ‘’ enemies ‘’ and ‘’enemies of the Church’’
HIS DEFENCE OF THE CREDIBILITY OF THE CHURCH
Archbishop Mpundu chose to defend the sinful conduct of PF leader Michael Sata who enjoys an unknown relationship with his sister Petronella Mpundu. He ignored to discuss the circumstances under which Sata sired his two nephews but unwittingly chose to defend the rights and place of single parents in this age.
Sata who is smarting from a divorce from his ‘’first’’ wife,…

  35. Recently, during the Kasama By-Elections, Sata is said to have formalized his marriage to Petronella Mpundu through a ‘’Chombela Ng’anda’’ in Kasama. Sata’s vehement denial of this tradition celebration seems to be motivated by his failure to inform his wife, Kaseba and the Nation!Following Chiluba’s revelation of this marriage which relationship Archbishop Mpundu deem to be over 20 years old, it has emerged that in fact, Sata had first sired a child with Petronella’s elder sister ( known as Margaret- by press time, the authors were frantically establishing the correct name), who was whisked away and sent to Canada following the embarrassing matter. It is then that Sata moved to Petronella where he has two children. It was expected that Archbishop Mpundu would tackle this…

  36. He also failed to describe the relationship between Sata and his sister. Is there a marriage? Is it a mere adulterous affair? What is the Church’s position on a matter that is publicly known? If marriage is indissoluble, what is the status of Sata’s first marriage in relation to the church? What is the position of his contracted marriage with Dr. Kaseba? And did Sata recently contract a new marriage in Kasama?

  37. ZNBC sought the voice of reason, the voice of compassion, and the reflection of wisdom at such a sensitive period for the Nation. They approached a man deemed to be Head of the Catholic in Zambia – Archbishop Telesphoe Mpundu.

He chose to refuse to participate for reasons we now know were petty, personal and driven by hatred against Mwanawasa.

Yet Archbishop Mpundu had collected two tickets for his Bishops from Mwanawasa to enable the prelates attend the funeral of that great shepherd, Pope John Paul II in Rome, Italy. In this speech at this fateful press conference, Archbishop ridiculed and dwelt on Mwanawasa’s legacy claiming that there is no legacy but ‘’a figment of a fertile imagination’’ by known persons. He said the Legacy was being promoted ‘’by a clique of…

  38. He said the Legacy was being promoted ‘’by a clique of known persons whose duty it was to retain power or ascend to power.’’He poured so much scorn on Mwanawasa’s legacy that you would be persuaded to remind him that his brother-in-law, Michael Sata spends inordinate times extolling the virtues of Mwanawasa’s legacy and he has chosen to single-handedly champion it to achieve immediate political benefits from some members of the family that are aggrieved with President Rupiah Banda.

  39. Why should the post of Secretary general not elective? where is democracy. I think the old man needs to rest in politics he thinks PF is MS suppose he dies is PF going to stand I doubt it. I wonder what will happen if Pact picks HH for presidency?

  40. King Solomon, these are juicy stories on Sata and that great bishop, did deeper and give us more. Long before these stories were started by Chiluba I had heard something like that, that Sata sired a child with the sister of his first wife. That is why she divorced him.
Coming back to Sata, appearing before mwineLubemba after all that disrespect! It seems he has learnt a lot of wisdom during the last few days, he must be in a desperate political situation because all this has strengthened Hichilema’s as the better candidate for the Pact, and Sata loathes that.

  41. On “Meanwhile, Mr. Sata has said he was ready to be challenged for the position of PF president at the party’s general assembly to be held later this year.

Mr. Sata has since urged those willing to challenge him to declare their interests now, adding that his party had started holding primary elections at lower organs.“, this is positive though some dictatorial tendency is noted on the unelectable officer the Secretary general which brings in bootlicking for the highest official in the party to a sitting president.

    Have a blessed day all.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

  42. On “… Mr. Sata has revealed that a technical committee would soon meet and advise the PF-UPND pact on which candidates to contest the parliamentary by-elections in Eastern and Northwestern Provinces following the deaths of incumbent Members of Parliament…. the committee would also weigh the strengths of each party in the particular constituencies where elections would be held before adopting an aspiring candidate to contest the by-election“, this is again clearly showing that Mr PF/Sata MC can not be trusted since he changes positions to suit him in light of the fact that previous elections’ better performing part puts up candidate(s).

    Have a blessed day all.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto…

  43. Chiefs in this nation are all politicians now.I think we should start voting chiefs also.
I say this owing to the fact that when most of our chiefs acended to their thrones, they have stated loosing directions, and all their efforts start concentrating on their personal interests and wealth by supporting politicians they think can empower them. They have taken sides in politics. they have forgotten that they are there for all people.

“IMFUMU UKUCINDAMA NI PABANTU, TEPA FIKANSA FYACALO IYO”

  44. SATA HAD A CHILD WITH PETRONELLA’S SISTER ASWELL. WHAT IS WRONG WITH SATA.SATA IS IMMORAL NOT FIT FOR PRESIDENT. HE IS A DOG FULLSTOP

  45. Following Chiluba’s revelation of this marriage which relationship Archbishop Mpundu deem to be over 20 years old, it has emerged that in fact, Sata had first sired a child with Petronella’s elder sister ( known as Margaret- by press time, the authors were frantically establishing the correct name), who was whisked away and sent to Canada following the embarrassing matter. It is then that Sata moved to Petronella where he has two children.
It was expected that Archbishop Mpundu would tackle this and the matter of Petronella.

  46. Archbishop Mpundu neglected to elaborate how Mr. Sata is allowed to partake in the Holy Communion under these murky circumstances especially that he called the Press conference to defend the integrity and credibility of the Church.

    ATTACK ON THE ANGLICAN CHURCH
In his quest to show and demonstrate to Chiluba, the immovability of the Church from its teachings, Archbishop…

  47. He chose to recite the Catholic History on the matter that claims that ;
‘’In the 16th Century, King Henry VIII of England wanted a set of Rules, especially for himself as King with regard to marriage, but when the Pope said an emphatic no, the King broke away from the Church of Rome top form what is now called the Anglican Church. Dr chiluba doesn’t seem to know or appreciate this historical fact.’’
Archbishop Mpundu neglected to inform his audience that this period is referred to as a dark period for the Church. It’s a shameful period for the history of the Catholic Church as it enforced murders, burning ‘heretics’ alive at the stake, tyranny, widespread wanton attacks against citizens and all these activities sanctioned and practiced by the Church.

  48. King Henry used his personal issue to pull out members that were widely fearful of a Church that had departed from God and the teachings of Jesus Christ and harboured extensive disaffection for the Church.
The rebellion against this Church was preceded by break away of protestants.
It is inconceivable to understand that his statement read at this press conference was written for a man that occupies such a lofty position in the Church. It appears to be the work of an excited priest such as Father Bwalya.

  49. ATTACK ON THE LATE PRESIDENT, LEVY PATRICK MWANAWASA
The torrent of attacks could not save even a departed man. Archbishop Mpundu opened with a tirade of attacks on President Mwanawasa disclosing that he refused to mourn him when he died because President Mwanawasa held him as ‘’a member of the PF and Bishop no.1 of the PF’’.
Archbishop Mpundu further disclosed that he refused to participate in a national program called at the height of sensitive national grief.

  50. Archbishop Mpundu spent time to ridicule and judge the christian standing of former president Frederick Chiluba. He with public disgust, referred to Chiluba’s anointing at the steps of State House in 1991, and described the churches Chiluba preaches at with discomfort and ridicule;
‘’Isn’t he a preacher of some standing and in high demand to preach at services in some churches? Wasn’t he anointed as soon as he went to State House? Didn’t he stun some everyone by waking up and declaring Zambia a Christian Nation? And making sure that such a declaration was put in a Constitution?’’
His tone was clear. Other Churches are lesser in standing. Their religious practices are also inferior and their standing and their presence in the nation lacking serious and depth.

  51. A small matter of marital infidelity requiring no more than a simple explanation as detoriated into a political storm exposing Archbishop Mpundu’s activities, and his lieutenant’s anti-government schemes.
A matter that should have been buried is now flaring exposing a man condoning the sinful practices of his brother-in-law.
When his Pope has spent time to clean the soiled image of the Church accused of numerous allegations of Child abuse and homosexuality practices by its priests, Mpundu seems to be practicing the very cover-up tactics his Pope his fighting.
This is a matter for the faithful. If it were upto ordinary mortals, the calls for his resignation would be louder than the tolling bells in his church.

    WHAT A BISHOP INDEED???

  52. But pa England, it is the hub for most MMD fools. Look at this friend of mine called King Solomon. When all of us MMD know that we are fighting the will of God, that is when he gets busy attacking the Archbishop of Lusaka. Please God, I know you gave King Solomon wisdom, how come you have given this impostor such levels of foolishness and venom against your Shepard our beloved Archbishop Mpundu? Please God forgive this fool as he does not know your Holiness and your will. Fellow MMD supporters, please don’t listen to this lost soul called King Solomon, he is a rejected MMD cadre who wants to win Banda’s heart for his benefit alone. Ignore his hate and his love for money to an extent he wants to be an MMD spokesperson abroad. I am the spokes person. Only me speaks for MMD.

  53. Please how I hate these comments you put in BEMBA. Bembas should not think that everyone likes their language. Let use English it unites us all. You should also know that this site is visited by people from other countries who totally don’t understand any Bemba.

  54. For Gods sake, even King David had extra marital sexx, Solomon too. Even Abraham. What is wrong with you Zambians. Liato had made Mwanawasa’s daughter pregnant. The list goes on and on. All what is at stake here is to ensure Sata does not stand. And I fear that with these po bellied security chiefs we have, 2011 will not be a good year for the Opposition.
