Minister of General Education David Mabumba says all the retirees that have been evicted from Kabulonga Secondary School boys and girls institutional houses have already been paid their benefits.
He says those disputing being paid must present documents so that the situation can be corrected.
Mr Mabumba says the families of the deceased’s retired teachers have no right to continue occupying institutional houses as government had a contract with the former workers and not the entire family.
But one of the evicted retirees Peter Katwe has insisted that government has not paid him his benefits.
On Thursday night government evicted retired and families of retired teachers who have died from institutional houses.
Majority of former Civil servants (particularly Zambians)couldn’t plan for more than 15 years.They didn’t realize that they were going to retire from their jobs.
Their families are affected due to weak decisions meantime.
Retired teachers say they have not been paid their dues but the minister says Govt has. Who should we believe? Whatever the case I think it is inhuman to make families homeless in the middle of the Night.The ministry of social services should do more to help.
Come on! How could they plan when their wages were nothing to talk about? Please be realistic. Don’t just write for the sake of it. I left Zambia because I could not survive on the so-called government salaries.

Actually if the government was very serious, they’d discover that hundreds of retirees that were paid benefits 5 to 7 years ago, still occupy institutional houses,especially so in the Education ministry.There are so many in Lusaka alone.
Pro-poor government as some used to say, then come election time they will be busy trying to show fake love to the people. Sure this is how you treat people especially the ones who have labored for you, their cries falling on deaf eyes. Cadres you told us this party is pro-poor, how can you be that and yet be this heartless to the plight of these people and their families. My fears about this party are becoming true, I worry about our relatives in the villages their dwellings will soon be auctioned to the highest bidder with no regards for their welfare. Africans are fleeing to Europe as a result of our uncaring governments like this one.
I keep saying this habit of playing politics with people’s lives must surely end. Why didn’t you do due diligence: Get the fcuking list of those who were paid and those who were not and act from an informed position. Uyo acita insist you have evicted him while he is still owed. The Ministry of Education its like they have no data as to who is paid & who is not .Imagine in Lusaka if they can not have data, what of in Rural areas? My advice is start with Lusaka school by school to clean up the Mess by getting data from the head teachers then go to copperbelt, they will discover that some houses are on rent. Go to Mumana , Matero, Chunga, chilanga, Roma, and many other area these people are still there.
