Lusaka residents trying to acquire Green National Registration cards under the third phase of mobile registration exercise have expressed their frustrations over the slow pace at which the exercise is moving.
The mobile issuance of NRCs under the third phase started on the 1st April 2010 covering Lusaka, Luapula and Copperbelt provinces.
A check by QFM News both at Matero Hall and the Boma found long queues of people trying to acquire the NRC’s.
Some revealed that they have been forced to spending more than one night at the centers in order to obtain to obtain their NRCs.
Those spoken to, mostly secondary school going pupils, said that the exercise has forced them to abscond classes for more than a day.
Others wondered why the Government did not opt to open mobile registration centers at almost every school to deal the congestion and enable as many people as possible to acquire the NRCs.
Some parents who escorted their children also complained of having the details such as the age of their children rejected fearing that some of their children may end up without NRCs.
The Lusaka residents have since called on Government to assign more people to the mobile issuance exercise of NRCs and create more centers to decongest the existing centre.

I know that ours is a developing country. There are many things that don’t work properly. But somehow I do not understand why the issuance of NRCs should be such a problem. Can’t we for once do things the right way….
I CAN’T BELIEVE THE MULTITUDES OF ZAMBIANS WHO HAVE ALL ALONG BEEN DE-FRANCHISED. THIS IS WHAT IS SCARING RB AND HIS FELLOW CROOKS-COS THE PEOPLE WHO ARE REGISTERING OR ACQUIRING NRCs ARE DEFINITELY NOT FOR MMD, BUT THE PACT. KUYA BEBELE. PABWATO. PA PACT.
Every one wants kata mulomo- that is the problem, Insala, ichipowe bakaamba, Otherwise, i do not see any problems why zambia should have such long lines for NRCs. And why are we having those long lines, are people getting new NRC’s or What?-Lost or renew?
#1. It is a problem because MMD has been using depriving citizens of NRCs to rig the elections through defranchise. Abantu, nabafulwa bale balongelesha-they are making them pack their belongings in readness for the exit. Zambians, this time make sure that those crooks are kicked out. We are also preparing to return home enmass to come and help fast-track the country’s industrialisation for economic prosperity. PABWATO AND THE PACT.
Good Evening
Just on the list of Related News above, Home Affairs Minister comrade Mangani claims that the issuance of NRCs is moving well. Now this…
#3. Most of them just don’t have them due to corruption attached to acquiring NRCs. But now people would anything to kick the Mad Dogs out of power. After all they will only line up once. But suffer forever if they don’t kick out the Mad Dogs out of power. Nabesuka abena Zambia nomba, maybe, apart from the Easterners who are always behind whenever the others have moved on.
The problem mu Zambia is.. everyone in the boma afuna kuzionesa panchito. Corruption is another disease especially at NRC and passport offices, they will make sure all their friends and relatives get theirs first, then excuses ati camera has broken down, or paper yasila etc…
OK,
and then lets give them a benefit of doubt…
May be these ques are due to lack of modern machinery? manpower? or is a population boom? so many un answered questions. Ala mwandi, bwafya mu Zambia.**==(:|
meant is it a population boom…
#5. Ba Nine Chale. Forget about Mangani chap. He just ba.rks anything his pay master would be impressed with.
Kwena pa Zed palonfwisha icifukushi! But anyway nipamyesu. This June I am returning home, ndeya mukulembesha. 2011 nde-vota! Wina azalila!
What I do not understand is why don’t they get NRCs as soon as they turn 16? Why do they have to wait until elections are around the corner?
I am a bit concerned about these NRC’s as I have lost mine in one of my many wallets…. I badly need it for change of title deeds for the property I am developing ( in progress ) in Ndeke Village in Lusaka. I won’t rest on this case till I find my NRC….. my big right foot!!!!!!!!!!!!etchhh!!!! it hurts for once!!!
NRC officials can you please come up with a better system of issuing the NRCs ,can’t you come up with say a system where those whose surnames start with A,B,C ,D and E on Mondays ,those starting with F,G,H,I,and J Tuesdays, K,L,M,N,O and P on Wednesdays,Q,R,S,T and U on Thursdays and then those with surnames starting with V,W,X,Y and Z are allocated Fridays. This will definetly eliminate unecessary congestion and the officials will be able to scrutinize the applicants properly otherwise i feel non Zambians will take advantage of the situation with the help of crooks .I trust the honourable Home Affairs Minister will take a look at my humble suggestion and continue with the issurance of the NRCs in an orderly manner.
… knowledge is power. Zed needs to harness computer technology in order to have an error/corruption-free means of offering these basic services to citizens. A simple computer database can be developed locally that can issue NRCs – this can be done, we have the manpower in the country. This can also be used to generate a voter register that FODEP can interogate. All this can and should be be done. Do we need to spend taxpayers money paying outsiders to bring in a half-baked biometrics “solution”? Knowledge is power. Let us look beyond what we can see. This NRC issue is only for the upcoming elections. But what happens in 3 years time, or when it is time for the next election? That right, the problem starts up again. We needs long lasting permanent Zed solution, not Nikuv, not any other.
i dont understand this nonsense going on in the country. what are these people up to?
