Ballot papers for the forthcoming Mufumbwe and Milanzi parliamentary by-elections have arrived in the country from South Africa.
the electoral materials arrived at the Lusaka International airport aboard a Zambezi Airlines flight at about 19:30 hours last night.
the boxes contain 418 books for the Milanzi and 424 books for Mufumbwe.
And electoral commission of zambia(ECZ) electoral officer Lawrence Mulenga told ZNBC that stakeholders will be at ECZ tommorrow to verify the consignment.
Mr. Mulenga said political parties and other players in the electoral system will verify and inspect the serial numbers and quantity of the materials.
He also disclosed that all the electoral materials will be dispatched to Milanzi and Mufumbwe on friday in readiness for polling day on Thursday next week.
Three political parties in each of the by-election are contesting the two vacant seats.
In Mufumbwe, the ruling MMD has fielded Mulondwe Muzungu, UPND is fielding Eliot Kamondo while Stephen Kamwengo is standing on the UNIP ticket.
The seat fell vacant after the death of MMD area member of parliament Misheck Bonshe, who was also home affairs deputy minister.
And in Milanzi, Whiteson Banda is the MMD’s aspiring candidate, UNIP has fielded Musa Banda while Albert Banda is standing on the PF ticket.
The by-election follows the death of MMD area MP, Reuben Chisanga Banda.

May the best candidates win based on their qualities and leadership abilities and not the political parties they belong to
where is this ka printing Company located?
Ati the ballot papers were brought in on a Zambezi airlines plane – wonder what the Post will think about that?
ALL BANDA’S…THTS STRANGE
Why do we print them in RSA. Isnt that giving business and jobs to people in RSA. Are we incapable, or is it a matter of trust. If it is trust, then printing should be witnessed by all interested parties for the sake of creating employment for some poor Zambians.
Where is VJ,i pray he didnt go for another ear operation in RSA,he has ear itching disease during elections.PF-PACT and UNIP make sure you check the ballot boxes and be there during counting,Mwadya Mweka Daddy(MMD) are criminals.CDF Mabenga,VJ,Katele, just to name but a few.Ba ponpwe..
It takes Bazungu to print Ballot Papers..how many of those are already marked?Government printer must be the sole provider of these documents…we know the results MMD has won, just watch…
totally agree with UK-ZED !

Got loads of our people not employed and it seems everyone in GRZ (and opposition for that matter!) are happy to give jobs to fat south africans. Shame on you.
What happened in Kasama? MMD behaved themselves and let PF win. Sometimes we should just accept the results without crying foul – rigging only happens when MMD wins and if it is the other way round all is okay.
Printed in South Africa? What happened to our printing companies? I don’t trust the Mucha Munoosi Daddy fellows – they have yto prove that they’re trustworthy.
# 5 is right! why print in RSA? really? am sure our printers, etc in Zambia aren’t that bad.
No. 9 & 8 Those are real points. It tells a lot about us Zambians and our mentallity. We really need to work on this. I happen to have interacted with some of the printing companies in RSA and to my supprise I found out that atleast in two companies there were Zambians infact at one of the (companies the production Manager was Zambian(not the ones printing ballot papers for Zed(?}. The third one I was told that the machine was not working the Zambian who knew how to operate this machine had left. Really these are potential jobs for our people. I would not be supprised if we had a BMW or Merc assembly plants our chaps (politicians) would still import from somewherelse. We have the capacity and the personnel just buy paper and print empower our people.
#12, Kelvin, It begins with trust, and since we do not trust each other, let foreign printers do the job and give the serial numbers of the ballot papers to all the political parties. If the ballot papers had been printed in Zambia all of you with vested interest in some political parties would be fabricating stories about printing plates and secret houses where fake ballots are being printed. Let the foreigners print the ballot papers so that Zambians do not kill each other because of false stories. We still do not have maturity in our politics.
#13, well spoken. Sums up our kind of politics, where everybody with a different view point from some cadres is a shushushu whom they saw receiving instructions and a brown envelope at State House!
Ifwe tuli pa Abuja baice bandi kalibalika imwe akuculeni you will enjoy in Heaven when you leave Senior sitizen with his MMD yamuyayaaaaaa
The whole idea is to try to legitimise these documents and give the opposition a false comfortable feeling that the ballot papers have not been tinkered. Bear in mind Leakages from locally printed exam papers and Files missing from supposedly the most secure places, the courts. Even if you employed party carders to guard the location that wouldn`t help because it only takes three pieces of silver to break their souls. We are in a big dilema. I f only we could break this dreaded ugly headed monister called corruption, that would be the turning point.
It was some wind that the VP was found with Ballot papers But now we are told this is when Ballots are in . UPND properganda is circulating. If it means winning whichever team has put in the best will take the day.
… no this time it was the VP who fell sick suddenly . he is in SA for check ups . how convenient.but sori bane we are beating you MMD again. FTJ is Sata might be panicking but we the PEOPLE of Zambia are not and as so we will vote RB out and the pact in . FTJ we will disgrace you the third time mwana.
… and why do we always receive the ballot papers in the night.
let go in numbers and remove ba rupiah and his group
