George Lwandamina has named his final 18-man team to face South Africa this Sunday in the two sides CHAN second round, first leg qualifier.
The team will have five players from Zambia’s previous CHAN team from the inaugural 2009 tournament held in Cote d’Ivoire.
The five are goalkeepers Davy Kaumbwa and Jacob Banda, defender Dennis Banda, midfielder Kennedy Mudenda and striker Makundika Sakala.
Also in the team is Red Arrows striker Dube Phiri who returns to the national fold after a four year hiatus when he was part of the 2006 Africa Cup finals.
Phiri, who currently leads the table on 7 goals, recently returned back to Zambia after a four-year stint in Angola.
Meanwhile, Zambia enter the fray after enjoying a first round bye from the 2011 CHAN qualifiers while opponents South Africa beat Botswana 2-1 in the first round to advance aggregate by the same margin.

Why hasn’t Enock Sakala been called up? In the modern game, you may need height to come and win you the championship. I am not really sure whether this is a good crop of Zambian players playing on our home soil but we will see how they will fare against South Africa. It will be an interesting game.
Good luck boys!!!
the reason you are not sure whether this is a goog crop for zambia is because you don’t know whats happening this league. this league is mainly for local players without international players so they can have a chance to play for the nation when international players are not present, however, you can still use the international players if they are present at that moment. i hope you get it why enock sakala wasn’t called coz he is proff.
Here comes another year of losing!! awe mwandi!!!
JJ no. 2, to the contrary, this is a tournament for locally based players nly. No Professional layers are allowed. Only those who play in the local African leagues are elligible.. so even when the International players are around, you can’t use them.
JJ, i wont get into an argument with you. I watch alot of Zambian football and i believe you do. If you say that the players called up are good enough to deliver then i am with you. As for Enock Sakala, he has had international football before ( cosafa cup in Zimbabwe) with his height (which is a great asset in modern football), it could be the difference between losing and winning a game. We can only hope that we have a good team in place to silence bafana bafana.
Do you have results for the Zanaco/Zesco game by the way? I missed watching it as it was played during a working day.
