The MMD has dismissed assertions by the Patriotic Front that the recently held developmental meeting in Mansa was held using public funds.
In a telephone interview this morning, MMD National Secretary Katele Kalumba who is also Chienge Member of Parliament said the funds used to organize the developmental meeting were raised by MMD parliamentarians in Luapula province.
Dr Kalumba said the MPs made financial contributions towards raising funds to organize the meeting.
He said it is therefore not right for the opposition Patriotic Front to insinuate that the meeting was held using public funds because such statements are misleading to the nation.
He said the MMD is a party and not a government which cannot in any use money meant for the people of Zambia.
Dr Kalumba says all businesses concerning the MMD as a party cannot be conducted using public funds because such a move is tantamount to abuse of public funds.

The question remains? was it a developmental meeting or a political campaign. There is a ‘stinking rat’ around this meeting and it will prove costly for MMD. So did the MMD pay out of station allowances and transportation for those police officers who where ferried from Lusaka as well? :-\” ok maybe???? But to be honest if that was the case then MMD has officially launched their campaign for RB 2011. Go RB no convention for MMD. hahahaha, What a democratic party! at least UNIP did not hide under the Democratic Umbrella but MMD is a true snake.
Now the chifes are distancing themselves from the resolutions aparently made in Mansa, what next Dr Katele?. Luapula is not like Eastern province were our friends are at least five years behind the rest of the country evry time. I spent 5 yrs in Mansa and i have a fair knowledge of politics in that province, so FTJ and the rebels are taking advantge of RBs dullness for personal benefits.
Dirty money no wonder Mwata Kazembe did a good job of it by not eating or receiving anything during the duration of this infamous luapula meeting.:-?

How many MMD MPs are they in Luapula for them to have contributed sufficient funds for the same event? I thought the majority of MPS in the province are PF. Or are we now referring to the rebel PF MPs as MMD now?

If you a person who calls himself a Doctor can fail to know that a permanent secretary is a civil servant who is an employee of the government yet you want to blind fold people that no the money which was given to the chiefs was raised by MPs. Are you telling us that after raising that money those people went to give the permanent secreatary for disbursement to the chiefs? We didn’t see Peter Machungwa or Chitika Mulobeka in Kawambwa.
