Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata has vowed that second republican president Fredrick Chiluba will not deter him from becoming the President of this Country.
Mr Sata said in an interview that Dr Chiluba’s attempts to stop him from becoming president of Zambia through the issuance of negative statements against him will not deter Zambians from voting for him.
He said Dr Chiluba failed to stop him from furthering his political ambitions when he was still republican President and that he cannot do that now when he is a mere political spectator.
And Mr Sata pointed out that reports that some chiefs who attended the developmental meeting in Luapula province addressed by Dr Chiluba complained at the way they were treatment is a clear indication that all is not well for the ruling MMD.
Mr Sata said he sympathizes with Dr Chiluba who the ruling party is using to gain support for President Rupiah Banda from the people of Luapula province.
He urged Zambians to bear with Dr Chiluba’s lame statements aimed at regaining their confidence and trust because he is a troubled Man.
Meanwhile Mr. Sata has said Zambians are suffering as a result of the high cost of Living under President Banda’s administration.
He said the move by Government to stop subsidizing fuel prices has led to the devaluation of the Kwacha and the rise in the cost of living.
Mr Sata pointed out that there is no development happening in the country and he urged Zambians to realize the need for the change of Government if the economy of the country is to be restored.

Walai where are you mune?:)>-
Do not worry about kafupi ba sata, mwata kazembe who is the senior chief of the lunda and most part of luapula and at the same time my biological cousin laughed at chiluba who thinks he is got monopoly of wisdom to fool our chiefs, i was just speaking to him last night to find out what really transpired at the so called developmental meeting, the mwata just said my brother i don’t want to be accused, and of course the power is in the hands of my subjects, you cannot false them to do what they don’t want, and they are big enough to study the situation anyway! so in short the mwata refused to be fooled and he will allow his subjects to vote whoever they wany freely.
Yes ba sata just make sure that you sell your vision, then you don`t have to worry about kafupi coz he himself has nothing to sell this time around that he didn`t during his 10 years tenure.:-?
Yes Mr Sata you are right, though am astounded that you actually believe FTJ can stop you from realising your dream. From where I stand your chances are slowly but surely waning. What makes me sad is a promising young man HH, choosing to form an alliance with Sata whom we all know is party to the mess that we are now grappling with. If FTJ deserve punishment then the whole lot like wise. I don’t think it’s late for HH to change course and begin championing the real issues that need attention and he will one day enjoy the fruits of hard labour. The HH that started well has been corrupted and today not as appealing as he was when he first entered scene. I am watching the space for leaders of the time. They seem to be taking their time to show up. Maybe PF need a new leader too.
Has the PACT chosen Sata to be its presidential candidate? What is going on?Has HH and his advisors become PF members or are they asleep and can not read in between the lines? There is no PACT in real sense…someone is using the other but who is fooling who?
Ba Sata is now panicking and this is exactly what Chiluba wants, to instill panick in Sata and confuse tthe Pact. As #2 has said, there is no need for Sata to worry because the real power lies in the people. The talk of standing at this stage will just bring confusion in the Pact as the issue has not yet been finalised by the two parties. Carefull with this dribbler!
Chilu is scared where he will run to in the event that the pact won….he is desperate pipo pliz make sure he is sorted out by voting for the pact.
These Chiefs are wise men. There were only there for the brown envelops. Sheer waste of time by MMD
No. 6. The master dribbler is already in the penalty box and someone will create a penalty through a red card offence and it will be game over from the spot kick.
Mr Sata should be careful in choosing words to use. The pact has not yet chosen him as leader. Suppose the pact chooses HH, wont he be stopped? like of wisdom in choosing words to use.
#2, Chola Mukanga, dont under estimate the Mwata, Katumbi, FTJ alliance.
Have you so quickly forgotten how MMD just scooped the three wards in Luapula last month?
What does this tell you?
Here is another statement that is a blow to Mr. Hichilema’s ambition to be republican president. We have heard it straight from Mr. Sata right here that he still wants to be president of Zambia.
With the information, I can conclude that
1. Either Mr. Sata is PACT candidate or there will be no pact and PF will go at it alone.
2. Mr. Hichilema has accepted a lesser role in the pact or there will be no pact and UPND will go at it alone.
“He says the move by Government to stop subsidizing fuel prices has led to the devaluation of the Kwacha and the rise in the cost of living.”
Ok, I need someone to educate me on this statement. How is the removal of subsidies weakening the kwacha?
I was under the impression that fuel is bought in USD. If that is the case then more dollars leaving the nation to subsidize fuel would lead to a weaker kwacha. If they remove subsidies, it’ll mean less dollars are leaving the nation than what was leaving when the subsidies where in place. How does that weaken the kwacha substantially than what it was when the subsidies where in place then?
This man should not be president from the gross ignorance he has exhibited here. How do you link fuel subsidies to the depreciation of the kwacha? The effect is actually the opposite, because there will be less govt dollar demand since the govt has cut back on foreign expenditure. If the choice comes down to) and Sata, I am not voting next year
am sure S.A.T.N.A is having sleepless nights over FTJ.He stopped once and he can still stop you from becoming republican president, watchout tata with your big mouth.Your days are really numbered politically as you know sick man.
@ 15 YAYA
The association of Mr Sata as the devil is low. Real low. Desparate.
Mr. Capitalist & Luapulan doc. Clearly you have no business engaging in discourse of currency valuation because you hardly understand how money markets work. Shame on you. But here’s a simple explanation to put both of you out of you misery. Removal of subsidies of fuel changes the dynamics in the fuel supply industry. OMCs will have more power to set abnormal pump prices with little interference from ERB. Remember they don’t all buy their fuel from our local oil refinery. Therefore their cost structure will be different and they will use this arguement to justify the abnormal prices. This will result in an increase in Kwacha circulation thereby causing a general devaluation of the Kwacha. Simple and straight forward. Even a grade seven can understand this concept
#16 Where have you been all this time? Is this the first time that Satana has been referred to in such terms? Why are you so sensitive, is it because you are panicking like the demented dictator wanabee?
Mr Sata is right no one but the people can stop him. I do hope he will accept the pact decision to feature a younger man and we can make use of him in an advisory role. His vast experience in all the past governments from colonial rule to date can be put to good use.
Sata you are the great man we have so far in our country. Without you Zambia would have been sold to foreigners. Continue with the same hard work. Your polical efficacy is well known to all the people of Zambia. I have come to like you because I have seen consistence on your part. You have decided to speak on behalf of poor Zambians. You are not compromised like other politicians we know…such as Mwila, Sakwiba, Akashambatwa , Mwanga etc. Go go Sata , let the world know that in Zambia there is one man Sata who have confounded the minds of plunderers like Chiluba. GO GO pact…2011 NEXT YEAR ITS EITHER SATA OR HH.:)>-:)>-:)>-
@ 16,
Call him demented or dictator wanabee, that’s fine. But satan, that’s a stretch. But enough of that talk. Behind closed doors FTJ, RB and Sata all get along. They just do and say things to give us something to blog about. A future with any of the three looks bleak.
Pact is a pain in the neck for MMD and their minion. If the pact is crumbling that should be their plus and why talk about it? It should be a blessing in disguise for them. The fact is that the pact is intact and hence the panic in the MMD camp. No one can stop anyone from becoming a president of this nation except people.
The pack will be the new gpvernment come 2011. they sholuld learn from the British election and all is working. Chiluba had his time what did he live in state house. He is supporting RB so that he can get his K8m from zamtrop that is govenment money.
We are behind the PACT and it will suceed shame on retrogressive people. We all know that small brains discuss people not ideas. We are voting for the PACT regardless of whoever they choose. On that strength we are ready to vote for a chicken!
#23 Surely it is too early to say whether or not the British coalition is working? Also dont forget that in Zambia we have a presidential system and not a parliamentary system as in the UK. This means that you vote for one person to be president, which in our case will mean that either the pact if it survives field one candidate as one party or split and go their separate ways.
Even if Chiluba cant stop Sata, am sure the degree clause will!

Well maybe Mr Sata(N) is right, Chiluba can stop him but HH will surely and if HH does not stop him, that would be the end of the PACT as we had accurately predicted the moment it was formed. I don’t see people like Prof Chirwa being led by a Chief Kaponya. And this is what we have been saying that these Parties in the PACT have different ideologies and can’t work together. Just watch the space and enjoy the drama as Decision 2011 approaches
How does removal of subsidies devalue ZMK?
#17 Kulima Tower. Thanks for attemptng to explain but it still does not add up. Increased ZMK circulation means inflation. It does set forex rate. It is the other way round. Here in the UK, inflation in April went up partly because UK £ depreciated ie imports became more expensive. But imports did not become more expensive because we got richer. Makes sense?
May be ba Sata need to explain to us what he meant. He may have gone to a special school.
Yes !!! Michael Sata, this is how you should be talking. You have pointed out a very good and important point of fact over my former President with respect so to speak, This is good. If you continue talking this way; we can start beleiving you. I konw for sure that you can run our country, you can be a stong President who knows… Because I see your determination.
I advise you to convince the people in the rural areas most to vote for you, dont make the same mistake of the past years. I predict, this could be your time to rule Zambia. Keep the faith, you can make it. KING COBRA; I last saw you at Manda Hill very upset, shoutting to staff… You are an IRON.
hear hear, good Mr President go PF and UPND pact
Sata is a patriotic good man. He is all focussed on alleviating poverty levels in Zambia. Point in hand is that where ever Sata has worked results are there to speak for themselves. He is perhaps the only person in Zambia who has results to show for the work he did in all the ministerial and other political positions he held previously. A few examples are as Lusaka governor he built the only two fly-over bridges in Lusaka and built houses in Avondale; as minister of health he built the new big morgue at UTH, gave an enormous bump in salaries of medics and streamlined health delivery services. The point is Sata is a working man and he knows how to make use of technocrats while motivating them. Right now it is clear he is the right man for the job of president of Zambia.
Well, we can consider that as we evaluate all the aspiring candidates: the Rupiahs, HHs, Satas, Tilyenjis, Nawakwis and Chipimos of this world, and now the latest kid on the block, Milupi. But if you want your candidate to remain on the list please use civil language okay?
How dull again , we see a lunatic thinking going to state house is a matter of FTJ indorsing you! what a shame.its the electrolate fool! u go on dreaming…..like levy prophecised u shall never rule Zambia so shall it be…we want Milupi, HH and Chipimo Jr we are tired . When r young people going to lead aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ivi vimindala away! mwe.
SATAs supporters what do u see in SATA i tell me…………..
Who is who in the PF/UPND PACT?I concur with you #5,#10,#12,#28.
Sata and HH are separable because there have different ideaologies and are habouring things from each other. This crack will lead to a separation of the so called PACT.
You could now tell that Sata has categorically told us that he is standing in 2011,in my opinion this was suppose to be a joined annoucement from SATA / HH.Wait and see how soon SATA and HH will divorce.Mark my words Zambians.
Bena, mwashala. naine nikwata party. father bwalwa ae secreatry wandi. Ni mushitala ka type writter.
Sata with his confered degree from “i do n’t know” wants to stand on the PF/UPND PACT.Abena Sata you do not qualify, lekeni abena HH to sell himself to the people out there for 2011.
ba capitalist sopololeni?kulima tower na sona.
Boi Cobra, you have run out of ideas.Lets just enjoy our ‘degrees’ stop the nonsense of trying to be head of state. That jobs suits gentlemen, you are rather too entangled to get it. Kafupi the chap you defended for 3rd term till the last minute has rejected you, who can trust you now? The Bishop tried to back you and Kafupi shattered him, exposed his back hand in trying to get his sister as ‘secret first lady’. calculator-boy does not like you, remember you are the ‘useless old man with no ideas’ to him, will you allow him to use you or you would rather loose together?

I prefer bo economist‘s argument from the other site over yours. His made much more economic sense and I will use your arguments to show you where you have have made errors.
“OMCs will have more power to set abnormal pump prices with little interference from ERB. Remember they don’t all buy their fuel from our local oil refinery.”
This actually justifies the free market system. OMC’s who can get fuel cheaper somewhere else will get it cheaper where they can because this will give them competitive advantage. In short, if fuel is cheaper in Botswana and Caltex gets it from there, they can charge a lower price than TOTAL which gets it from say Mozambique (note: this is just an example). TBC
cont. from #41
This will enable Caltex charge a lower price for fuel than TOTAL. This will result in consumers getting their fuel from Caltex as opposed to TOTAL which will give Caltex a competitive advantage. With the competitive nature of the fuel industry amongst OMC’s in Zambia, there is no way a collusion to keep pump prices high will stay, if such a move had to exist, it would be short lived. This can only be justified in a monopoly type of system. Lower prices attract consumers and a high volume of consumers brings about greater profit. OMC’s know this which is why they cannot collude (in the long term at least).
Now if Mr. Sata had made an argument for increased inflation then his argument would have made greater sense but the issue is, if govt[tbc
cont. from #42
if govt is subsidizing fuel, there are more dollars from the local economy leaving the nation to purchase the oil needed because oil is bought in USD and not Kwacha. There is no OPEC nation in this current period at least which will accept Zambian Kwacha for oil.
This is why I asked the question of how removing subsidies will result in a lower Kwacha. The way I see it, in order for govt to buy oil, they have to convert the Kwacha’s into USD, this results in the USD gaining value over the Kwacha. Since the oil is being subsidized, govt has to pay even more.
With removal of subsidies, govt pays substantially less than what it was paying before to obtain oil. If that is the case, how does the Kwacha devalue if less USD is leaving the nation than before?
Currency is also subject to the law of supply & demand. In our situation, we do not opearate a perfect market where those forces are left to always determine the rate. There are times when BOZ participates mostly on the supply side of the mix obviously to keep the rate at a particular level. It’s important to understand how the subside is applied for one to make a competent comment on the effect on the kwacha rate.If the subside is at the point of purchase, GRZ withdrawal would definitely affect the rate upwards.Bearing in mind GRZ would probably use it reserves to meet their part of the bargain.Remember, withdrawal of subside doesnt change cost at source. Oil companies will now have to finance the entire dollar cost, thus pushing the demand by the amount of the subside. Sata was spot on.
cntd.
Now you know that when demand goes up the dollar will cost your more in kwacha. Yes he may not be quite popular to most of us but you may want to be very careful to dismis his comments on some of these issues. Remember he interacted with some of our fine minds in Econs. The late Ronald may his soul rest in peace.
Ba Sata tell your lumpen Nsanda to stop messing himself with his marriage, advise him to go to Mpundu your brother in law for proper guidance. eeeh Sata what of your son in Livingstone with with your “wife” that former town clerk of Livngstone have you forgotten about him? You guys in PF have serious problems with your marriages and High blood pressures without forgetting your heart problem!!!!!
