I am not PF, I am neutral- Chefy 187

Share

Popular Zambian hip hop artiste Kondwani Kaira, better known by his stage name Chefy 187 says he has no affiliation with the ruling PF.

Clarifying his decision to perform at a PF function in Ndola on Saturday organized by Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo, Chefy said he does not belong to any political party.

He took to Twitter and in a serious of Tweets said he performed in Lubuto township because he considers that place as his home.

“Let’s address this. I have always tried to keep away from politics you ll rarely hear me speak on it or say anything that might be seen as political. Why? Because politics divide people. As an artist you have to be that unbiased voice for society,” he tweeted.

“From 2012 to 2015 I lived in lubuto Ndola near a place called Centre. This place is under honourable lusambo’s constituency so when he contacted me to provide entertainment services for an event where he donated a hearse to Lubuto clinic, somehow I felt compelled to doing it.”

“Because this is where I come from and it felt more like charity work above anything else. I’ve had shows at Kambeba (a lodge in Lubuto) and it felt like I was robbing people there, this was an opportunity to be part of an event were Lubuto people got something in return,” he stated.

“I knew I was going to be judged and it was going to look like a contradiction against what I stand for. But i also thought my people knew me better. That was a one off thing and I was there in my capacity as an entertainer not pushing anyones agenda.”

He added, “I appreciate the concern from people it means you care about this brand. It also means I have fans who have placed me under “any mistake, we are out” but how deep is your love if that’s all it takes for you to be gone?”

“Guys get it from me, ifwe ni teamu nyutulo (neutral) you ll probably never see me in that light again. But pa last “Family never needs explanation, enemies never believe you”.

  2. Nothing wrong with that! I too, belong to the Zambian party which puts the country first. Politics is a choice not a requirement. You argue for and against not hero worshiping like headless chickens.

  3. Smart Chef l think you have seen how JK and Dandy Crazy have been used and dumped like used condom. Pf is also getting very unpopular and any association with them is bound to drastically affect your future. I see how Kalusha lost respect and is now just seen just as a pf cadre

  4. Honestly I am disappointed as a fan because my perception of Chef was rock solid no matter of excuse can reverse this damage, he said that his fans should know him better well I guess we didn’t. the brand has been tainted and should have been above board the best he could’ve done was simply apologize and move on not justify what many perceive a bad decision. If one is nyutulo he should appear so in every stride …apa nomba CD twaocha boi shala nacho.

  6. It appears Chef came under pressure to clarify his political stance. The young man is a Zambian and by virtue of that – endowment of rights and freedoms, one of which is to political beliefs. It only becomes a problem when he uses his platform to coerce his fans on who to side with as has been the trend in The United States where utubena Cardi B, ka T.I natumbi utuma entertainers in West Hollywood who are Democratic Party stooges.
Go Chef 187, your ballot, your secret! Continue playing well!

  8. I can confirm that indeed he is not a member of pf. Just because we engage any zambian for a service as a party does not mean they need to or must be supporters of our agenda. He has every right to exercise his political rights in secrecy. After all it is a secret ballot. Kz

  9. I should imagine he did not belt out any sycophantic, political songs. He merely entertained the crowd like the way you guys would perform at a wedding.

  10. My advice to Chef is that you are too young and have a long way to go, association with PF will destroy your future, look at how kalusha has destroyed himself, Jk, and this othe scruffy musician who sang donchi kubeba, those Guys will soon end up only performing to their girl friends and families because whatever associates with PF will go with PF, is that how you would want to end up? Yes for now you will be a staring but for how long?

  11. People are scared to state their political affiliation because of intimidation specially by UPND who treat you as an enemy if you don’t agree with or belong to them. I stopped making my political views in my real person because most my UPND friends and family became hostile. Should we be one party state? If not allow us freedom not to feel HH. Nkambela was the one me (RIP)

  12. Whats wrong with you media? every time you want to judge people, mind your business do or say somethings useful in your life, just busy yapping ma rubbish. Get useful please!!

  13. Sure you want to make a story out of this, mmmmm aweee imwe sure apapene pebenokutalikana rubbish talk about something sensible you people.

  14. I don’t see any problem with him perfoming at a political event, every person has got a right to belong to a political party of their choice. The fact that he is a public figure doesn’t mean he is entitled to follow what people think he should follow.

  15. No need to apologise Chef as long as long you get paid fine. If HH needs your services charge him too! You need to feed my boy! Big up!

  16. I like the way he has defended himself, but like one blogger above has said, can he do the same for the opposition party to prove his case.
