LOSING MMD candidate in the Mufumbwe Constituency by-election Mulondwe Muzungu has petitioned the election result of United Party for National Development (UPND)’s Eliot Kamondo, arguing that the polls were marred by violence.
According to the petition lodged in the Lusaka High Court on Monday, Mr Muzungu stated that it was his prayer that it should be determined that Mr Kamondo was not duly elected and that the election was null and void.
In the affidavit verifying the election petition obtained by the Times of Zambia, Mr Muzungu said the elections were characterised by undue influence that resulted from violence and threats to life and property.
He further stated that there were rampant physical attacks on the members of the MMD and members of the general public, resulting in severe injuries to people and damage to property.
“I verily believe that as a result of the acts of violence that characterised the parliamentary by-election, members of the MMD and the general public feared for their safety while others chose to leave their residences and fled the area without participating in the said elections,” he said.
He said at a rally held on April 30, 2010, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema offered and promised to deliver 20 head of cattle to the voters in Mufumbwe as an earlier promise made to them that he would deliver the said animals if they voted for Mr Kamondo.
He said the said promise was designed to unlawfully induce the members of the public to vote for Mr Kamondo and alter their independent and voluntary decision at the polls.
Mr Muzungu in his petition also stated that on April 14, this year, Vice-President George Kunda was addressing a rally at Matushi area when a riot broke out in the area and that a 10km stretch of the Mutanda-Chavuma Road was blocked with stones and logs by UPND cadres.
Mr Muzungu said UPND cadres who were throwing stones at motor vehicles surrounded several MMD members and threatened people who were to attend the vice-president’s rally.
During the polls, Mr Kamondo polled 5,313 votes; Mr Muzungu got 5,009 votes while Steven Kamwendo of UNIP got 180 votes.

#1 yes, this Mulondwe is a SYCO, really a mad one. He does not care about the children killed by his son. he has up to today failed to appologise nor show remorse to the family of the children killed when his car plunged into a crowd.
Now he is pertitioning the results based on very flimsy excuses. The twenty cows were for celebration after winning. Nyamasoya & sick George were busy dishing out brown envelopes in full view as inducement. HH merely promised to donate 20 cows for a feast after winning but MMD dished out money and unleashed thugs in Mufumbwe.
Kicks of a dying horse. Bembas say, “Uwawa tabula akabepesho”. If Muzungu you were the one who won would you have petitioned the results? You are so foolish. Whoever appointed you as ambassador must be disgraced by your behavior. Just go ku famu mukalime akoswe imwe. Use are the ones who perpetrated violence and even your CB MMD youth have come out in public telling Fr. Bwalya that they will deal with him more than they dealt with Mufumbwe people. Afisi iwe. Azende imwe. Mang’a mukamwa.
He is a very f.o.o.l.i.sh man to accept the nomination for that seat.
Zambia has no tree where to pluck money from for any by-election. Can someone advise this than to just find money to compensate loss of life. His son killed an innocent child that was neither MMD nor UPND, MHSRIP. Let the court decide and we will vote in numbers against him!
RB is on record promising Mufumbwe that he will make available atleast K 10 m for repair of the burnt church, etc wasnt that meant to induce the public? Has Muzungu forgotten that voting is private? no amount of intimidation can cause someone to vote as they want. What has happened to his son any way after he ploughed his car into the crowd

Muzungu is the most stupid man that ever walked this earth, How, on earth, can a sensible person advance those grounds to petition his loss. Even his lawyer must have something wrong in his head. The fact is HH promised those cows but did not deliver them before the voting….so if they were not delivered before polling day.. how did they influence the voting. Talking about violence, we all knopw who was involved in the violence. i hope these chaps are not thinking of using the Solwezi MP as a point of reference because that issue is in court and secondly, that was an isolated incident. So MMD, think twice and abort the so -called petition beacuse it lacks merit.
MMD how can you surely petion the mufumbwe results when you had the police , army , ECZ ,and other to your side shame on you
Comment # 7 it wasn’t manslaughter but murder. The son of Mr. Mulondwe Muzungu deliberately ploughed his vehicle into a celebrating crowd killing 2 pepole instantly. And as if to finnish off the rest of the crowd, he reversed his vehicle and injured 1 person who later died in hospital. What manslaughter is this? And Comment # 8, HH does give for free. Have you forgotten the donation of mealie meal and sugar he made to the flood victims who are camped at the Independence Stadium? At this, the Government objected saying all donations should go through the Office of the Vice President.
Coming to the topic, I feel its another test for the judiciary. Some mad and MMD Cadre Judge will certainly nullify the election.
Now i know MMD is a party of fools except Magande, Mpombo etc. What a shame, this father of a murderer Muzungu even demanding votes from pipo whose children his son willfully killed with his vehicle? May blood of those dead children haunt Muzungu’s son until he apologises. This MMD is now getting confused. MMD caders even violently chased the useless police IG into hiding and 2day they petition. What about the 3 children Muzungu’s son killed,thats outright murder not manslaughter,he willfully drove his car in the crowd after noticing his father was well beaten.

Interesting and baffling at the same time. MMD’s campaign was premised on delivering on the M8 (Mutanda Chavuma Road), RB met marketeers at Kizela and town centre promising them some works when the marketeers demanded good markets; RB toured hospital project and school and his message was vote for us because we are already doing this and that. Was that inducement? There was a sustained campaign by MMD maligning Kamondo that he is a satanist who had finished children taking them as sacrifices to Dubai. They peddled this to make people draw swords against Kamondo. So what was this, Clean campaign? Violence, MMD was in charge, assisted by the police. By 17:00 hrs April 28, MMD were still occupyng polling stations, evidence is there. MMD raided UPND camp and stole their diesel and bicycles.
Muzungu is as desperate as MMD is. He lost his employment as ambassador and his position govt has sent a Sakala to fill it as ambassador. He is destitute again.

What a shame Muzungu! The ruling party petitioning results…. Whatever will be the outcome, we will all be in Mufumbwe to defend the opposition. Let the results are overruled, we are ready for war again…… You are selfish, you don’t think of poor people…Those people who were beaten and some killed are not fools to vote for you in the event of a turnover of the results
