UPND-PF Pact demand Health Deputy Minister’s arrest

Share

Dr Solomon Musonda

The Patriotic Front United Party for National Development pact has demanded that Health Deputy Minister Dr. Solomon Musonda should be arrested and detained in police custody.

Patriotic Front spokesperson Given Lubinda has urged the police to act swiftly and arrest the minister as what he did was a a criminal act.

He said that failure to arrest Dr. Musonda will result in the government influencing the outcome of the investigation.

Mr. Lubinda has further castigated Chief Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha who said that the shooting of the youth should not be politicized.

He said that the incident itself was politically motivated and that the pact will use politics to ensure that justice prevails in the case.

Mr. Lubinda has since defended the youth who was shot by the police as saying that he was not armed as alleged by the MMD Chitambo Member of Parliament.

Speaking on last evening, Mr. Lubinda explained that the alleged PF cadre was one of the youths who were repairing the dilapidated roads and merely asking for money from road users.

And speaking on the same programme, spokesperson of the UPND said that the pact is not in a hurry to choose a presidential candidate.

Charles Kakoma said that they pacts main objectives are to address challenges that the country is address.

And Zambia Daily Mail reports that Government has advised the Patriotic Front (PF) to stop politicising the shooting and wounding of Jackson Musaka of Lubembe village in Serenje by Deputy Minister of Health Solomon Musonda.

[pullquote]“This matter regarding the shooting of Jackson Musaka of Lubembe area in Serenje is currently being handled and investigated by the police because it is a police case. So there is no need whatsoever for the opposition Patriotic Front to politicise the matter,” Lt.Gen Shikapwasha said.[/pullquote]

Chief Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha said there is no need for the opposition to start politicising the shooting and wounding of Mr Musaka, 25, as the case is currently being handled and investigated by police.

Lieutenant-General Shikapwasha said this when he visited Mr Musaka at University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where he is admitted.

He said the PF should exercise political maturity when handling the case and that the police should be allowed to deal with matter professionally.

“This matter regarding the shooting of Jackson Musaka of Lubembe area in Serenje is currently being handled and investigated by the police because it is a police case. So there is no need whatsoever for the opposition Patriotic Front to politicise the matter,” Lt.Gen Shikapwasha said.

He said it is unfortunate and saddening to note that some people have decided to politicise the shooting and wounding of the PF cadre, instead of praying to God for Mr Musaka’s quick recovery.

“It is unfortunate that this happened but I have to thank God that doctors have managed to remove the bullet from Mr Musaka from his head.

“I am, therefore, asking my colleagues from the political arena to stop politicising the incident to win political capital, but they should put our brother in prayers so that he receives the quickest recovery,” Lt.Gen Shikapwasha said.

Lt.Gen Shikapwasha appealed to the opposition PF to allow the police to carry out its investigations without any political interference.

Meanwhile, UTH public relations officer Pauline Mbangweta said Mr Musaka’s condition is stable compared to last night (Wednesday) and that he is responding to treatment.

[pullquote]“It is unfortunate that this happened but I have to thank God that doctors have managed to remove the bullet from Mr Musaka from his head.[/pullquote]

“Yesterday, the condition of Jackson Musaka was critical. I can confirm now that his condition is stabilising. This is because of the operation which was conducted by doctors who managed to remove the bullet from his head,” Ms Mbangweta said.

And Central Province PF security wing party official George Lemba also confirmed that Mr Musaka’s condition is stable compared to Wednesday night.

“I can confirm that the condition of Musaka has improved as compared to last night (Wednesday) when he was failing to talk. But at night doctors managed to remove the bullet from his head,” he said.

On Wednesday, police recorded a warn-and-caution statement from Dr Musonda

  1. let ths Fool be {solomon) be put in jail coz hez such a useless chap !! VIVA PACT !!!

  2. Just wondering how he just shot the guy with minimal provocation – according to the POST. The case may be more complicated than it is being portrayed.

  3. It is sad that Kaponyas want to turn every sad moment in people’s life into a political football. Even before the baurial of the late Chifubu MP, they are already talking about setting election dates and all and this boy is still in a coma and they are busy trying to politicise things. Please remember there are families behind these things. The Chifubu MP was a father and a husband and who knows, an uncle , and grand father and somebody has lost father, a husband, an uncle and a grandfather and people are busy talking about his by election. Where is the opposition taking Zambia to. Dr Solomon is not running away infact he reported the incident to police. People are forgetting that KK’s son killed somebody in 80s and today he is free. Lets wait for ALL FACTS.

  4. There is no need to arrest Musonda for this incident. First of all Musonda did not follow this boy to his house instead it was the Boys who attacked musonda on a public RD at night. For the benefit of those of u who like jumping to conclusions, when I bought my 9mm pistol it is meant for my security and i signed as such. So come in the night and attack me on the road and expect me to treat you with kids gloves, you are lucky its musonda, had it been me involved you would have received true justice. The Pact cage your Kaponyas before you loose more.

  5. The Doc was attacked by PF kaponysa and fired in the air but the ngwangwazis kept coming forwrd armed with pangas and iron bars . . .The Doc did what any normal guy would do . . .like the Isreali commandos in the recent flotilla saga…..he shot one chap in self defence.
    Washaout! No case!

  6. Its normal to have guys in Zed . . . Police records show that Sata has about 10 guns…Guy Scott 3 guys, Lubinda 2 pistols, HH has 4 including one Gogodela! nothing unusall

  7. Have you heard – Fred mmembe has been jailed for 6 months. Bail denied. he was received by Kapoko at lusaka central prison (Chimbokaila) ..He has been given a choice to choose if he wants to be “woman ” or “Man” . .. .he is happy both ways and will have the best time in his life yakumbuyo three times a day!

  8. Having guns does not mean shooting anyhow, the above mentioned people have guns but has anyone heard that they shot anyone? There are many people who own guns in Zambia but that does not mean they have a passport to shot at people anyhow. It does not matter whether the person involved is a PF, UPND or even MMD. The issue here is what the doctor did was wrong and it should be condemned by every normal person regardless of their political affiliation. Mr Musonda did not show good exampleof a leader or doc by shooting the young man. A man of his caliber should not indulge himself in violent activities to that extent! Hence the doc has to be arrested and face the consequences of his actions. I’m sure he can defend himself in the courts of law, in the meantime he must be arrested and charged!

  9. ZP sleeping again because the boss was involved in a criminal activity. If it was just an ordinary chap who did this act, ZP would have locked up the chap without hesitating. Fair game play please ZP. You don’t anyone to remind you of your responsibilities.

  10. For long now Sata and Lubinda have been assigning their kaponya on aggravated robbery missions to fund raise for their highly indebted party owing Taiwanese and South African Boer loaders after our land. They did it to Honorable Sichilima only to dump him in Chingwere with his Freelander SUV gone. many people have been victims of PF criminal projects. What guarantee is there that these Kaponyas in the night were not after the minister’s life and hijacking his car? Leave the matter to professional police who don’t take orders from kabovas like Lubinda.

  11. The ministers will only get serious about gun crimes when the guns are turned in their directions. Please arrest Musonda as soon as possible to send a correct message to the public.

  12. #6MMD Chief Booklicker- You are really sick in the head. People are talking about this because the law is not being applied the way it is supposed to be. If you shoot another person- that includes some one who has broken into your house- the police will have to lock you up until you are allowed a police bond. But your witch Dr. Musonda is the one dictating the pace. Dont call others Kaponyas when you are actually the Chief Kaponya headless MMD arse licker.

  13. Can somebody educate the people about the “doz” and “don’ts” with a legitimately owened fire-arm?

  14. #6 MMD ASSISTANT CHIEF BOOTLICKER
” People are forgetting that KK’s son killed somebody in 80s and today he is free. Lets wait for ALL FACTS” you say. Simply put ulicipuba and wont say any more than that.

  15. The shooting should not even be political-The man Dr Musonda on all grounds he has a case to answer-LET HIM BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED then law should take it’s course. All citizens should be treated the same-what of if it was me an ordinary zambian who did this-what would have happened?
I would in prison even before the courts delays me guilty–the man needs a Musona type to be declared guilty or not…..I am not a politicain or polical party cadre but just crying for my mother zambia

  16. #5,6,8,9,and 17 lets say sensible things, u pipo are really sick in yo heads. i have owaz said lets debate to mek zambia a better place, but u guys are pathetic in ze way u raise issues. This doctor committed a crime and he is supposed to be in jail. he said he was attacked;were is ze proof that he was attacked? if u look at his vehicle even at his body there are no signs that he was threatened for him to fire to kill. we need to look at things critically here, look at wat happened to Lumba, accused of beatin an mmd cadre who was in police uniform the solwezi central mp was chased like a criminal and arrested and ze whole issue was politicised, and now a pact cadre is nearly killed by mmd mp and u say there is no need to arrest him, u even say ze pact is politicisin ze whole thing.NONSENSE

  17. MMD thugs useless headless people are taking zambians for granted. A muderer Musonda is free, do you know what you are telling other politicians? You telling them to also kill for to you a life of a poor Zambian does not matter. be warned that Musonda we know him and if he is not arrested we shall also shoot him in the head so that he feels how nice it is to get one in the head. let him move with Ak 47 because we have special gun to shoot in his head. So we are giving deadline to the Zambia police to arrest this criminal in 24 hrs, otherwise you will find him dead by a head gun shot. We are warning you, listen and arrest this criminal Musonda.

  18. MMD minister shoots someone, he is not arrested
MMD cadres attack and injure peole in Mufumbwe, they are not arrested
MMD losing candidate’s son runs over people with his vehicle, he is not arrested
MMD cadres threaten to gang-rape Ms Nawakwi, they are not arrested
MMD chief kaponya, William Banda, threatens father Bwalya, he is not arrested

What kind of police service does Zambia have? The Zambian police service has certainly lost it.

  19. There are rules of engagement in the use of deadly force, Even then his aim should have been to inacpacitate the attacker to enable him , arrest and hand him over to authorities. But since ni pa Zed???????
The use of deadly force was extreme in this case. Unless The shooter can prove that the attacker used force which was proportionally equal to or more than what he used, the man is a goner.

  20. Solomon is not daft, for him to shoot this thug there was a great threat on his life and property. The police force is professional, they will ask the injured man what he was doing in the middle of the road throwing stones and sticks which can be classed as aggravated robbery.

  21. Blue Blood says:
June 4, 2010 at 11:51 amMMD minister shoots someone, he is not arrested
MMD cadres attack and injure peole in Mufumbwe, they are not arrested
MMD losing candidate’s son runs over people with his vehicle, he is not arrested
MMD cadres threaten to gang-rape Ms Nawakwi, they are not arrested
MMD chief kaponya, William Banda, threatens father Bwalya, he is not arrested
What kind of police service does Zambia have? The Zambian police service has certainly lost it.
    ===========================================
They are waiting for a directive from the president to arrest people nowadays and am sure RB is still studying the situation. He so fcuking slow, which makes the police slow, and hence no arrests. It is such a shame. The police can redeem theselves for once ….

  22. MMD Chief Booklicker you are a very useless person. How do you come up with such crap everyday. A doctor shots a person with intent to kill, runs away from the scene living his victim for dead and then you praise him that he reported to the police. You must be very dull and no wander you lick dirty boots of nonentities in society. If it were Lubinda who shot an MMD cadre where do you think he would be right now? Attempted murder is a serious offence, Musonda should be behind bars right now?

  23. No. 6, Do you suggest the Dr. Musonda should walk free until after the year 2030 so that he has the same treatment as K.K’s son. Police will find hard if a similar case happens and the next offender will want this similar treatment.

  24. # 6 and # 17 you must be the angels of the devil himself. with life there is no politics or boot.licking fo.olishness. suppose it was you or relative who was shot??

  25. On “And speaking on the same programme, spokesperson of the UPND said that the pact is not in a hurry to choose a presidential candidate… Charles Kakoma said that they pacts main objectives are to address challenges that the country is address,” it is clear that the might UPND Group is only interested in using the UPND-PF PACT as a campaign platform which should see president and 2011 presidential candidate HH as President of Zambia in 2011.

Why is it that only MMD characters are the ones killing or aiming to kill- – e.g., the son of losing MMD MP candidate Muzungu and MMD Deputy Minister — Zambian people? This is a clear desperation on the part of Mr President RB Banda’s Administration of GRZ.

Have a blessed day all and quick recovery to the PF injured person…

  26. Dr Musonda should not be allowed to roam the streets and should be remanded awaiting trial as he poses a THREAT TO SOCIETY. What he did (Attempted Murder) per our penal code is a gross crime in the category of aggravated roberry, murder in the 1st degree, multi rape etc and the full force of the law and prison beds await him.

  27. MMD Chief Booklicker !! aint you tired licking those MMD boots. How much are you paid for licking those dirty boots. Why can’t try another career, instead of licking sh#%t

  28. #8 & Bootlicker fimo fimo, imwe bafi colour you are the same fools who will be hiding under your beds (if you have one) when the siht hits the fan. Who tells you only MMD thugs know how to hold and fire a gun? This selective application of justice is the root cause for the disappearance of peace. When justice and rights are gauranteed to all, peace follows as sure as the sun follows dusk. The way you MMD fcukers are handling issues is a sure way for brooking chaos, but you forget that you will not enjoy even the looted wealth admist an uprising. No one wins save for the people. The sooner you get this in your thick heads the better for all of us. “I man no need peace BUT equal rights & justice” – Peter Tosh

  29. Father Bwalya spent days at Kamfinsa for distributing a red paper with nothing written on it. He had to post bail. Someone picks up a gun and shoots an unarmed youth. He is free and drinking wine. What kind of justice is that? Former Doctor Musonda, committed several crimes.

    1. Carrying a concealed weapon which is against the law in Zambia
    2. Shoot someone with it.
    3. Leaving the place trying to run away
    4. Failure to adhere to Good Samaritan law which asks one to help those hurt.

    2.

  30. #37, its 4 months and not 4 years…..still too much if you ask me. Selective application of justice pa Zed.

  31. The MMd are digging themselves in the ground. Can’t really say much about the shooting coz the authorities know why they have not arrested the shooter. The shooter will have his day just like Gilbert Zimba (Chiluba’s former assistant at state house who shot and killed teachers at close range) had his day in court and was jail for life M.H.S.R.I.P.

  32. iwe where who gave u that false 6 months information?maybe u dnt kn hw to read, read again so dat u can get the true information about hw many months he has been given.ngwangwazi iwe if u think its the end of post ,u r lyng to yoself.next time its u n u il spend years instead of months.devil u who becomes happy wen a friend is in trouble

  33. chain this village thug Musaka to his bed and charge him for attempted aggravated robbery! thereafter go arrest Lubinda,Sata and all those protecting him as 2nd defendants. charge the doc for incompetence for missing to strike the medulla in the brain stem which would have been the easiest way to send this thug Musaka into immediate respiratory & cardiac arrest. docs should know better where to strike.

  34. Iwe Chi colour veteran and bootlicker, if somebody shots your mother you would be the first to wiggle your mbolo. Grow up

  35. WE HAVE PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY, A VERY BIG PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS PEOPLE DRAWING THEIR INTELIGENCE FROM THE ‘POST NEWSPAPER’ THIS POST FACTOR IS A TERRIBLE PROBLEM — JEHOVA GOD SAVE.I MEAN LOOK AT COMMENT 50, HONESTLY _ Dr MUSONDA IS AN UPRIGHT PERSON ! SOBER UP AND FIND OUT THE TRUTH.

  36. This savage should be locked up. If it was a PF or UPND official he was going to be arrested there and then even without proof. Now Mr Banda should do justice to this murderer otherwise he is not safe even himself from such people he appoints. One day this man will point a gun at him. Watch out RB. You may be courting trouble for yourself. Arrest the fool otherwise we may not see the difference between you and Musonda!

  37. Veteran,

Put yourself vicariously in the position of the youth who was shot. You have no gun and the only weapon you have are stones, your rowdy behaviour and rough voice, and complaints against bad roads in Serenje. Of course, you have also angered Dr. Musonda by threatening him verbally, by insulting him with your fellow youths. But you haven’t even punched him, let alone scratched his car. Do you still think you would deserve to be shot in the head for this?

  38. I wonder what could have happen if it was the opposition member or Father Frank Bwalya, the man could
be behind bars.He Was supposed to be locked up,confiscate the gun and then investigate.Thats why even if he reported himself ,the case is criminal it does not matter.there who have arrested cases themselves. The police should arrest and investigate the matter and let the courts determine the the case. He did well report himself but that doesn’t matter no matter your status.

  39. I wonder what could have happen if it was the opposition member or Father Frank Bwalya, the man could
be behind bars .He was supposed to be locked up immediately, confiscate the gun and then investigate.Thats why even if he reported himself that does not matter the case is still criminal the offender has to be arrested and investigate whilst he is in police custody. There people who get arrested after reporting themselves. Yes he did well to report himself as the courts are lenient for not wasting time. The police should arrest and investigate the matter and the courts will determine. The man is right.

  40. Zambia, a govt of fools. U have ganged up against an innocent Fred M’membe instead of arresting these murderer esp the so called dokota who has turned into a killer. U poor *****s in Zambia with yo politics of poverty.

  41. This Musonda is lucky that he lives in Zambia. Look at Greece less than 24 months ago. When a boy was killed in cross fire (police bullet), Hell broke loose in that Island. Why? Because the citizens expresses their rights, to remind the government that they cannot send their dogs to bite the hands that feed them. Ati police service in Zed, totally nonsensical! That mulondwe muzungu’s son kills 3 youngsters, he doesnt get arrested. then ka minister shoots an unarmed youth, and he is free. Ka president-by-default is just quiet, he is scared of M’membe. Fred will be out next week, then what? Atase, no wonder ka kolwe protested by peeing on the bugger. rb alimuchibe, mmd secretary is jailed with hard labour, hahaha!!

  42. the normal thing would have been to arrest solomon, bail would then be applied for and granted, and then a trial would follow. it should be the state vs. solomon but then, that is zambia.

  43. He is a disgrace to the medical profession.I agree with President Sata ‘s sentiments that this chap was supposed to save lives rather than destroying them.He is an ***** who deserves the gallows and please ensure he is deregistered from this honorable profession.

  44. Politicians should focus on matters that will lead to developing the nation and serve the people at all costs and leave judicial issues to the department that deals with such. This business of sticking fingers in every matter destructs attention from real critical issues. Focus should be on matters that can improve our judicial system, economy etc. It is for this reason that we never develop because our leaders lack the much needed strategic direction in almost all areas. Sorry, I forgot its MMD in power….nothing new there then, oops! Unemployment is as high as when I was a mwaice, hospitals are a nightmare…lucky privileded ones are flown out at the expense of tax payers, the judicial systems is in shambles, lobbying is seen as investment resulting in no real/tangible development…

  45. It seems MMD is subjected to a different law. one wonders why the foolish minister is still not arrested! Nature has its own way of doing things. one Musonda en others will be punished and it is pretty soon.

  46. 2006: – MMD = 43 %, PACT = 55% of total cast votes.
    2008: – MMD = 40%, PACT = 58% of total cast votes.

The writing on the wall is clear.

    2011: – MMD = 35% (VJ), PACT = Landslide!
