Msiska Hopes To Evoke Spirit of ’88

Share

New Zambia Under-23 coach Lucky Msiska says he hopes to inspire his team to the 2012 Olympics in London with the spirit of 1988.

Msiska was part of the famous team that set alight the 1988 Olympic Games football tournament in Seoul, South Korea where the team reached the quarterfinals.

The Belgium-based former Zambia and Power Dynamos winger said he is aware that they were a lot of expectations for him to qualify the team to the Olympic for the first time in 22 years.

“People expect a lot from me from my 20 years in Belgium,” Msiska said. “I hope it will happen, that’s why I am here.”

Msiska said qualifying the team to the London Olympic football tournament will be the crowing moment for him.

“That (qualifying) will be the best moment in my coaching career to take Under-23 to Olympics that will be dream come true for me,” Msiska said.

The qualifying process will be unveiled next month by CAF with three teams from the Africa zone qualifying to the London Olympics.

The best runner-up from the three-group qualifiers will enter a two-leg playoff against an Asian team for a golden ticket to the London finals.

  1. We hope for the Best!.My advice for Muchofe is that he should cast his net wide,he has to do alot of travelling to watch even amateur teams in Rural Zambia to find natural Goal Scorers because he has midfielders in the premier league

  2. I hope some hopeless people with self motives do not frustrate him
Having Lucky Msiska as coach is a breath of fresh air as opposed to the same old faces which are always being recycled. If he does well he should be considered for the seniour team post for the long term

  3. Msiska was just an under 12 assistant trainer in some academy in Belgium.Zambia will not go anywhere in soccer as long as we have gr8 Galu at the helm of FAZ.
Zambia is the only country in Southern Africa that will not benefit from the World Cup.Brazil flew over Zambia from Zim to go play Tanzania in a friendly and yet some cadre at FAZ is claiming Galu is well “connected”
    We need professionalism at FAZ

  4. At least we can LM for than the selfish Kalu thing. Lets rally behind him People and ensure the player agent parasite-Kalu goes hopefully soon. Go Zambia.

  5. Waiit a minute! What makes you think “Muchofe” is not a gret Kalu stooge and therefore will dance to the masterz’ muzik?

  6. Msiska ,you are a zambian product and during your time ,players didn’t Know money as now,so bring the Old spirit to these youths ,leasure should be the least and the Chaps should aim higher like you did during your time.
Good or bad I will always support you and your Old teammates like Kalu.
    Wishing you the best.

  7. Its important to have a vision when given something to do so ba lucky ,good start set a target first and then work towards it.Good luck and hope these opportunists in administration like our FAZ president who like last minute glory won’t frustrate your vision.

  8. Wanzelu is actually a failure himself, i knw him.
