Namibia Refuse to Face “Weak” Zambia In Friendly

Share

A prosposed friendly match between Zambia and Namibia in Windhoek set for August 11 has fallen through.

This is after the Namibian’s declined to play a junior Zambia team in the form of the Under-23 under Lucky Msiska after Faz decided not to send the senior team to face The Brave Warriors.

“Zambia has backed off the friendly, they now want to send an Under-23 team and Namibia has said no,” a reliable source said on Wednesday evening.

Namibia declined because they felt they deserved to face a stronger and seasoned Zambian team to measure their team as they prepare for the Africa Cup qualifier against away to Gambia in Banjul this coming September.

Zambia in its case face Comoros in their opening Africa Cup qualifiers in Group C match whom they are scheduled to host on September 4.

August 11 is an official Fifa August date for international friendly matches.

Last year during the same August friendly window date, Zambia played Ghana in a controversial friendly game hosted in London that the former lost 4-1 at Brisbane Road in the East End.

  1. Ba Namibia bakula mitu manje and yet ndise tinabasunga when they were being persecuted. Atase, let them be, Zambia goes on.

  2. #1 shallow thinking. this is a valid concern from the namibians never mind whether you kept them or fed them or gave them your women, which claim is also highly questionable. most if not all the funding for their upkeep was from un refugees agencies. please get off this mentality of thinking that everyone else owes you!! you are not special!

  3. Big boys of course. Why decide to give them kids?Disrespectful.I would do the same if i were Namibia. There is nothing like being big hearded.Just the reality

  4. In soccer there can be surprises and the ones people say that they are not good are the ones who are good.So Namibia don’t judge by age judge at the way they play./:)

  5. Namibia is 101% right. After all ba Zambia banasila. If I was Namibia, I would have requested Zambia to summon all its foreign based players for this game. So its a wake up call for football chiefs.

  6. remember the story itself bears a reminder of our last friendly played with Ghana… why can we not learn to do the right things at the right time…? we have a chance to qualify early and i can discern a touch of underrating the Warriors!

  7. Thanks Namibia. You have asked for a friendly and demand for a stronger opposition than playing chancers, it will defeat your purpose. This is the way FAZ & Zambia behave, funny all the time when it comes to football.

  8. What FAZ must keep in mind is that all FIFA games are taken serious. They count on fifa ranking. When we lost to Ghana in London we dropped points. Thanks to Namibia if we were to lose with the under 23 points will drop. A bad rating also counts if our players qualify to play in major leagues in Europe. Can we be serious for once as a country in single field. We suck as a country in everything.

  9. simple as that is how Zambia misses out on playing a friendly on a FIFA sanctioned Date when everyone else is playing..

chashupa fye pa zed i thought these are the games where you try national team players out, but ifwe we experiment in the qualifying games and wonder why sometimes we don’t make it to big competitions..

  10. Take all the professionals there and experiment. FAZ are full of wrong experiments when it matters most to win. Namibians are right. Its amazing to know that even foreigners know that we make wrong decisions all the time! Wake up FAZ. Osabweza dziko kumbuyo mafala imwe!

  11. FAZ is an interesting outfit. What have they planned for the senior team for August 11? S. Africa plays Ghana, Zambia against ………..
