“This is a crucial role in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, when issues of water, sanitation and hygiene, the key essence of WaterAid, are cardinal to protecting our communities from the virus,” she said.

She once served as Head of Communications at the African Union-Nepad office and as a Senior Communications Expert at the African Union Mission to the USA.

  1. Congrats good girl. With quality education you can achieve much not depending on a political cadre husband fighting for a position at FAZ

  3. Kikikikiki….where is that galu the political cadre who believes that by sleeping with bazungu women is an achievement in life? Napeta umuchila kapoli. Congrats madam…! You did well leaving that quack who could have just wasted your time.

  4. Great, Maureen. Everyone’s entitled to earn a living. Maureen is not an elected official whose private life should matter to me. She’s my fellow citizen and the flag she will be flying at her desk in Johannesburg is the same flag I would be flying if I was appointed to a position outside Zambia. I wish her only the best.

  6. ,@Tarino what you have said is one reason our country is what it is today. Too many local minded and G12s in key positions

  7. Congrats to maureen. Having engaged with her in my line of duty ,I know how hard working she is. She studied in diaspora but came back home and made it. A true patriot. Meanwhile the angry asylum seekers in diaspora left years ago and have failed to return because they lack papers and only went abroad to scrounge off foreign countries

  8. @Ronnie – of course, they will call her kwerekwere and all other things. But, who cares. She won’t care about such shallowness. When you’re liberated, you tend to be open minded. You can live anywhere in the world and thrive. Well done to her.

  9. There we go with Kaizer Zulu attaching himself to everyone who succeeds, and belittling people in the Diaspora.
You did read that she got her Master’s in the UK, right?
At some point, she too was in the Diaspora.
And I think most of our people in the Diaspora travel for school and excel at their studies and jobs there.
Are we to believe that the likes of Kenneth Mwenda, Dambisa Moyo, Muna Ndulo, your former Media director Chanda Mfula who is pursuing a PhD in the UK. Are they all stupid, UPND supporters

  10. @kz – diaspora this, diaspora that. You beginning to sound like a broken record – it’s boring. Let’s move on. I think your contributions on this forum would gain more audience if you didn’t appear to be orchestrating a hate campaign against Zambians abroad. This is futile and at your expense. People are at liberty to make choices. You cannot bash them to your will.

  11. Congratulations to Maureen Nkandu on your new role and have all the confidence you will discharge your responsibilities as one who is exposed and having trained at my former university in Wales will demonstrate your competence and raise the bar of standards in executing your duties. This demonstrates Zambia’s profile being respected by those trained in the diaspora and others contributing financially to our struggling economy due to corruption, lack of credible work ethics and poor governance. Shameful, others boast of riches through corruption such as PEPs eg. KZ

  12. @Ronnie, what I know from experience is that there are certain levels in the diaspora that are untouched by xenophobia or ridicule from locals. Maureen’s job looks like one of those levels. If you go grab a broom in the diaspora the locals will feel the competition – especially if you are a sweeper using algorithms you learned while studying – I don’t know – nuclear medicine that you never used in Zed. Mwandi mayo Maureen, congratulations! Well done!!!

  13. There’s something we all need to know and never forget. Modern nation-states aren’t like ancient tribal kingdoms. They bring together people from different backgrounds, cultures, colours etc and then give them a status called citizenship backed by rights and obligations to the state. That’s wht we are in Zambia. Tribe isn’t supposed to matter but many are struggling to accept this, let alone to live with it. It’s a common problem in post-colonial states. Whn we travel abroad, it’s the passport that matters. Your chief cannot issue you with a passport. That’s hw irrelevant your chief is in the modern world.

  14. @ spiderly all this names you mention did study abroad but were not there on a permanent basis. In other words their habitual residence was still Zambia. Where as the few hateful diasporans I interact with here are there permanently and some have taken up foreign citizenship or are trying to with questionable papers. They then come here to release their anger on us zambian . You cant compare the names you have listed to people like you. You are not a factor just a sadist. Kz

  15. The only crime Kalusha the Legend committed is juggling a ball during the PF rally, if it was opposite and did that at shonongo’s rally, all these haters would have been behind him. Losers they are. The biggest mistakes Zambian can make is to usher in Shonongo with his arrogance into State House. That will be the end of our country.

  16. KZ, don’t tell lies. Kenneth Mwenda, Dambisa Moyo, and Muna Ndulo do not reside in Zambia. They work and live abroad. Mwenda and Ndulo are in the US. They do no belong to your class intellectually and socially. Your language is can be likened to a dog’s barking. A dog barks uniformly regardless of the situation. The bark is the same when it is hungry, happy, in danger, etc. Like you, it has no creativity. You keep singing the same song every time. What a pity!

  17. Good for you maureen. It’s good that the thief kalusha dropped you when he did otherwise today you would have been known as the wife of a thief and would have missed such opportunities. Good luck!

  18. Kz, I am in Zambia! I have been asking you to meet me and to have a cordial discussion about the state of affairs, one that I am willing to stream live on YouTube and Facebook, so as to protect myself from any violent outbursts and to have the whole country simply listen to us.
Additionally, why do you say I am a sadist? I only take issue with you, and how you can’t give your views on something without resorting to bashing people outside the country.
Alas, someone has corrected you, the people I listed DON’T live in Zambia.
What say you to the discussion? Any day boss.
