Vice President George Kunda has reiterated government’s appreciation to traditional values and ceremonies in the country.
The Vice President said in Mwansabombwe, Kawambwa yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe that it was a policy of government to promote traditional ceremonies and respect traditional rulers because of the role they play in governing and developing the country.
Mr. Kunda is in Mwansabombwe to grace this year’s Umutomboko traditional ceremony of the Lunda people of Luapula Province.
The Vice President told the chief that he had been sent by President Rupiah Banda to grace the traditional ceremony because the president himself who wanted to officiate at the occasion was committed with other national programmes.
Mr. Kunda said government is committed to meeting traditional leaders to discuss issues affecting them and their subjects to foster development.
He said although it was the first time for him to pay a courtesy call on the chief at his palace, the two had met before in other foras including the developmental meeting which was recently held in Mansa.
Mr. Kunda said the Umutomboko traditional ceremony has received a lot of international recognition which was a pride to the country.
He said government was happy that traditional ceremonies were now attracting a lot of local and international tourists.
‘This is why we shall continue to promote traditional ceremonies as government,” Mr Kunda said.
And Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe said he was happy that this year’s traditional ceremony was being graced by the Republican Vice President.
Chief Mwata Kazembe said traditional ceremonies were important because they promote cultural heritage.
He said there was hence need for government to support traditional ceremonies because a nation without culture is dead.
The Vice President was accompanied to Mwansabombwe by MMD Deputy National Secretary, Chembe Nyangu, Deputy Minister in the office of the Vice President, Gaston Sichilima, Deputy Local Government Minister, Moses Muteteka, Deputy Agriculture Minister, Allan Mbewe and Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Simon Sichimba among others.

But what can we say of this so-called pact now in comatose? Their past has been disastrous, their present doubtful and their future hopeless; unless their present mischievous leaders demonstrate practical morality, stand for the truth and show love for fellow humans, they will pay the penalty for their insincerity.
The embattled so-called pact is nothing but a failed project ab initio. It was built on falsehood, deceit and needless hatred for RB. It is structurally defective and like a house built on sand is about to collapse because the currents of truth now assail its false foundation constructed by two bitter sore losers HakaSata hardly one year its in comatose. This bad contraption has a lot of defects and to brazenly pretend that there are no problems but a future is self-deceit. Politics by deceit or by false propaganda cannot solve any problems. Some ration pact members know that as an opposition, they cannot go on applying the same old deceitful tactics of Sata.
Sen.Citizen obsession with the PACT/Sata is reaching dangerous propotions.
Vice president Kunda deserves praise in that for the first time he has not talked politics and about the opposition at a public function. Is is refreshing!
On the other hand it is very disappointing that this man called Senior Citizen is as usual being irrelevant waffling about the opposition and it’s leaders and calling them names.

I know the truth pains and is hadrd to bear but take it # 5 to heart because its spot on. The smarted thing you could do is to counter # 5. If anything even GK his speech put the pact in a defence mode considering that Chiefs country wide know HH and Sata to be good at insulting the same chief. Recall the HH-Mwanachingwala saga and Sata Chitimukulu/ Mwata Kazembe saga rebuked by the house of chiefs? And do you expect SC to be placating the pact when you as a PF have been deriding RB and MMD? Counter him intelligently on what he has nailed in # 5 then you will be taken serious.

Thank you for your comments and please allow me to correct you on one point, if I understand you correctly you seem to imply that I am PF. I wish to inform you that I am NOT a member or supprter of any party but I give my independent views as I see things unfold.
Red Card – Haven’t you noticed that neither Sata or HH talks about MMD. It just shows who exactly is in the panic mode and works well for the Pact because they’ve GK as there Campaign Manager.
Beside GK can booshit other Chiefs but you can’t go campaign during the Mutomboko. Ask Chrispin Musosha, he will tell you that my paramount Chief weaps with a shambok. Haven’t you noticed that in as much as his subordinates where bought off by Kafupi on his last campaign dubed Development meeting the Mwata never said anything. He stands by his principles and Sick GK can’t go and booshit in his Kingdom, else he risks been weeped.
A least this weekend twatushako nelyashi lya chi Pact. I just hope that it is dead for ever, not to rear its ugly head and waste our precious time again. This business of forming pacts just to make noise and the loudest insults was a disaster, a lesson of how not to run your party.
Has anyone heard the PF advert on Chifubu bye election? Sata is using Bemba proverbs to appeal to the Bemba conscience. Clearly tribal and true colours, but I wondered whether all the voters in Chifubu are Bemba. I will say more after the bye election.
