Government Apologises to Japan for the Erroneous Reference on Zambia Police Bicycles Donation

Share

The government has apologized to the Japanese Government for erroneous reference as the donor of the 100 bicycles given to the Zambia Police.

Ministry of Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr Chileshe Mulenga has explained that the 100 bicycles are part of a larger supply contract awarded to Poly Technology Company from China consisting of Motor Vehicles, Boats, Uniforms, camping and heavy agricultural equipment.

Dr Mulenga at a media briefing that in addition on the 14th of August in 2019, the Indian High Commission in Lusaka made a donation of 30 Bicycles to the Police at an event which was officiated by that country’s High Commissioner.

He said that there was a miscommunication when the two statements were issued by the Zambia Police Service and the Ministry of Home Affairs and this has been sorted out.

The Japanese Government has denied donating 1000 bicycles to the Zambian Government meant for Police Operations.

Stakeholders have been demanding clarity from the government on the conflicting statements being issued over the procured 1000 bicycles meant for police operations in areas unreachable by vehicles.

And speaking at the same event, Foreign affairs permanent Chalwe Lombe secretary assured that no diplomatic implications will be raised as a result of the same as both sides have been met to have the matter settled as both the embassies were immediately met after the misinformation.

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs had said that the bicycles were donated to the Zambian government by Japan.

  1. Bunch of clowns, how does a government system make such a mistake? How many more of such mistakes happen which go unheard? This is what happens if you give cadres power to oversee the running of states offices.

  2. Lies truly have short legs. The full truth is yet to come out. What was difficult to just state that we contracted more debt to buy all that equipment you have now itemised. It is now clear that this was NOT a donation but another scum which has become a normal part of our government!

  8. Lies always find you out. The number of conflicting statements from official sources has been staggering. If Japan had not repelled this lie, it would have remained in the public domain. Its clear, people have stolen, and they want to use others as a means to cover their theft. Is it any wonder that other races despise, and take advantage, and exploit us? When this is the calibre of our governments? And then we come around and start baming the “colonialists”. The perennial excuse for failure used by greedy, incompetent, corrupt leaders.

You will find that every one lives because it is a common error. An apology has been made and pf government is human too who can make errors. Nothing to see here.

  12. Yaba! if this was an honest donation, there would be no different statement. Addionallly, why are we talking off the donation of THIRTY bicycles made in 2019? We want answers! This is public money and we should be told the exact amount of money that was used to procure the bicycles and the other equipment like heavy machinery, motor vehicles and whatever else they have mentioned.
Where was the tender, who won the tender, at what price, contractual obligation been met? Also, show us pictures or import clearance for the tender items.
If this is legit, no problem.

  20. That is not even a donation, it’s a contract given to a chinese company in China. So how can the whole ministry make a mistake in saying it was donated when in actual sence it’s a purchase? Don’t they have information on the tender for supplying? How many people go through a statement before it announced to the public at your ministry? Do people just blindly sign papers?

  21. All you PF die-hard supporters, here are your PF leaders. When we tell you that these PF crooks can’t be trusted, you think we’re just being unfair and disrespectful. This is extremely embarrassing. Zambia has now become a complete laughing stock across the world, because of these PF criminals in office. The sad thing is, we don’t have any independent investigative body in Zambia to look into shady deals like this, because the ACC and the DEC are dead scared of gangster Lungu. Those of you living outside Zambia know that it’s becoming embarrassing to say you’re from Zambia, because these PF criminals have tarnished and destroyed the image of our once beautiful country. If they can lie openly like this, most likely they are lying about BILL 10 too. Make sure to vote this criminal…

  22. …syndicate out next year, so we can end this nightmare and restore sanity to our country. PF must Go!!!

  23. Kaisar Joseph Goebbels Zulu, you’re despicable. You and your fellow PF criminals will be behind bars next year. You’ll not get away with it. You’ll face the law for all the lies and crimes you’ve committed against the Zambian people. You’re the id1ot that calls the diaspora all kinds of names, and when stuff like this happens, you still shamelessly find a way to justify it. You slime ball. Get outta here.

  24. That’s a normal day in the theiving corrupt leadership life of lungu…..

Nothing strange , just another day at the office for lungu……….just issue a cover up and look for another scam…..

  25. A purchase of 1,000 bicycles from China being mistaken by the whole government as ‘donation (gift) from Japan’! This kind of wanton lying is unprecedented in the history of this country. Can this be what Seer1 has been talking about? If Japan had kept quiet, this lie would have been swept under the carpet. Surely how can we trust such people with Bill 10! They are so madly pushing it as though the whole of their survival depends on it. There is definitely something sinister behind Bill 10. Never trust these guys. Where are our mukula logs that were impounded in Malaysia? PF u are totally destructive and very dangerous to the well-being of Zambia.

  26. THERE IS MORE TO IT, THEY WERE AVOIDING THE NAME CHINE. BECAUSE IT COULD BE PART OF PF CAMPAIGN MATERIAL OR THEY HAVE STOLEN SOME OF THE POLICE BICYCLES, CHECK THE DOCUMENTATION?

  27. This too bad. Where is the truth in the people who are running the affairs of this country? Its like now the lies have become the order of the day.
