As anticipated the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) has expelled from the party its members of parliament for Chilanga and Kafulafuta constituencies following a NEC meeting held at state house yesterday.
The two members of Parliament are former Finance Minister, Ng’andu Magande for Chilanga and his counterpart George Mpombo for Kafulafuta constituency.
MMD Spokesperson, Dora Siliya announced the expulsion and withdraw of support from the two members of parliament.
She said the decision was reached at after the two members of parliament failed to show remorse over their actions of bringing the party into ridicule and disrepute.
Mrs Siliya said the matter has since been communicated to the Speaker of the national assembly.
The two members of parliament did not attend the state house NEC meeting.
Meanwhile, when contacted for a comment Kafulafuta Member of Parliament, George Mpombo described the decision as excessively irrational and emotionally taken.
He said he is game for a fair bare knuckle fight.
Mr Mpombo noted that there are so many things involved in political life.
Asked whether he would challenge the decision taken by the MMD NEC in court, Mr Mpombo said he would comment after receiving the letter of expulsion.
The former Defense Minister has recently been critical of government and President, Rupiah Banda since he stepped down as Minister.
Efforts to get a comment from Mr Magande failed as his mobile phone was switched off.

Mpulungu, Chilanga & Kafulafuta
PF 3 – 0 MMD
Brave decission indeed.
In the calendar of the Lord henceforth, Peter Ng’andu Magande and George Mpombo are no longer privileged members of the ruling MMD. All incentives, rights and services have been instantly withdrawn. On the advise of the sponsoring party MMD which has notified the Speaker of the August House, his mandate is to declare their seat vacant. In this vein, private citizens are at liberty to individually deal with them in a manor most desired if anything is being held on the basis of personal issues. We wish them wellness and happiness in an open democracy of options where starting own parties or reverting to UPND they came from after betraying Mazoka for jobs.
These expulsions may face court injunctions until 2011 elections. Whatever the case, MMD will lose out
Our Speaker doesnt nullify seats anyhow, until the supreme court makes a decision. By then, it will be 2011 election time
Professional groover George Mpombo has the liberty to start his own party or groove before Sata and take his historic National oil crisis to PF where he can take over Sata.
On the other hand,
Peter Ng’ande Magande can seek sanctification from the Mazoka family following the betrayal, sell himself to his village folks in Choma that have rejected him then rejoin UPND to challenge Hakainde.
Those expelling others were not even MMD until they saw the FRUITS. Any way ukupela ichipuna ku wamatako aya KULU says it all
THEY HAVE BEEN OFFLOADED IN THE OPEN MARKET.WHAT IS THEIR MARKET VALUE OR THEIR RESIDUE VALUE? ALL THESE QUESTIONS WILL SOON BE ANSWERED.BUT REMEMBER THAT ANY PRODUCT HAS ITS PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE, THIS IS SO WITH POLITICIANS.BUT VULTURES WILL BE WAITING FOR THEM ALSO,TO CLEAN THE ENVIRONMENT IF AT ALL THEY WILL ROT.
Legal basis of political decision creates basis for judicial consideration in adjudication. Where political verdict is found constitutional, the justice system has the prerogative to fast track a case. PF has lost the case of the 22 patriotic legislatures because constitutionally the 22 have been dragged to court against their constitutional mandate of representation of their electorates a case the petitioner has lamentably failed to justify what constitution breach their representation has created. MMD has constitutional case against the embattled Mpombo/Magande.
Untill our blogging understands that the Zambian political parties are centered on European models of political (party) systems, where membership-based, programmatically oriented political parties dominate the political arena to such an extent that commentators lament about the “party democracy”, these threads will never repositories of valuable discourses. The fact at hand are that while the excesses of such a system may lead to a sclerotic and bureaucratic hegemony in channeling access to political power where institutional systems are lacking as the case of PF, the reality of many parties even in Europe is characterized by declining membership, a disenchanted electorate and competition in the form of small issue-based movements or initiatives.
This is a good move by RB. He is handing over power to PF smoothly. He knows that Magande and Mpombo will not file injuctions and that the speaker will declare these sits vaccant. After that, he knows that the MMD will not retain these sits. PF will get all these sits. So he is systimatically handing over power to PF as in in coming gvt. Daily the PF is narrowing the gap and by time for 2011, RB will have no MPs.
# 9 and 10, is it that now you know that people are feed up with your radional blog name of senior citizen that you should now disguise yourself? Like recorded in the Holly sripture, Jesus said. I’m a god Sherpard. My flock knows me by my voice. His flock also knows the devil by his voice. You may disguse, but your rot will always reveal you. Any posts charecterised with trivialities are attributed to you and correctly so.
#11 If tomorrow Magande and Mpombo, put in injuctions what will this say about your analysis skills? Moreover, they are two parties in the pact, what makes you think that PF is their ultimate choice, what will it say about your analytical skills should these two decide to go back to their roots, which is UPND. Remember you are in a pact with UPND, how sure are you that UPND has not found a suitable candidate for these constituencies? There you go, the opportunists you are in PF, no consideration for your pact partner, rushing to claim ownership of another parties reject. Pathetic.
Red Card-Free at Last,
SC is my astudious iconic man i keep sharing the patriotic spirit side by side transcending historic momentums. You must be very young and novice to this noble rostrum to confuse yourself like that. Archive the threads you will find my ID riverbating blogs side-by-side with patriotic firebrands such as SC, Observer and many more.Taking a break to finish other responsibilities only to find some minutes at hand for this has mesmerized you haaah!
Mashina Red Card-Free at Last # 11 and 12,
If you are the personification of PF, no wonder UPND, MMD and Zambians take us for typical brainless kaponyas.Your assumptions aside, let me question your level of education and writing too low for a public domain.
Kindly explain on these:
-speaker will declare these “sits vaccant” -Excerpted.
-So he is “systimatically” handing over power to PF-Excerpted
-people are feed up with your “radional” blog name, Excerpt
-Like recorded in the Holly “sripture”, Jesus said. I’m a “god” Sherpard, excerpt
-Any posts “charecterised” Excerpt
Please just turn to your native language to spare the little credibility PF is carrying or speak for yourself.
MAGANDE WAS NEVER IN UPND Please do not cheat people here
Walyako,
Magande was a member of late Anderson Mazoka’s shadow financial minister. He came to MMD from UPND on taking some dangling carrots of a finance ministerial job. That came with him betraying Mazoka’s financial support from multilateral institutions. This is why he has problems with his fellow tongas. They don’t trust or like him for his treachery nature.
On the other hand, George Mpombo a mere Grade 12 was from UNIP untill 2001 when he was found by UPND drinking katata and burning ifibili in Ndola rural. He defected to UPND only to betray it when Chiluba wakened Mwanawasa from his bed for a plot one job. Exactly 2002 Mpombo abandoned Mazoka for a job in MMD.
UPND-2-PF-1..Chilanga,Kafaulfuta and Mpulungu respectively..twalya again..
#15 Red Card
Have you noticed the horrendous mistakes that SC/Patriot/Veteran make. Just look at the Post in #14
‘historic momentums’
‘very young and novice’
‘archive the threads’
‘riverbating’
‘firebrands’ (this is not a compliment, it means a troublemaker. But then again, these guys are serious trolls. So may be he is right:they are firebrands)
If anything, these guys are the kaponyas because they like using big words they barely understand, or know how to spell just to impress fellow bloggers

Thank you for the correction, about Mpombo there was some where I read that he is a qualified Mechanical technician from NORTEC Ndola. Anyway with or without Magande and Mpombo the Pact has given the MMD sleepless nights, thats why they are still working Hard to weak, unfortunately many people do not see that.
Good Day to you all, those of us who are Real Christians lets remember to pray for our Beloved Zambia.
In an interview with the Sunday Mail, Mr Mwanawasa said no matter what one’s status is, there is need to show loyalty to their President.
“It’s rather unfortunate. I didn’t expect that senior members will be expelled, but the MMD is a party of ideals not personalities. Many times NEC has asked people to be loyal to the President and the party, but its sad that some of the people have taken a different tangent,” Mr Mwanawasa said.
Mr Mwanawasa said he is still interested in contesting the Kafulafuta seat, but this will depend on whether his party adopts him.
“If am not adopted now, I will try again in 2016,” Mr Mwanawasa said.
He said he was not seeking a sympathetic vote as a son of the late President, but he is a youth who is passionate about contributing to the development of his country.
Mr Mwanawasa said the interest to contest Kafulafuta started in 2005 after his father suffered his first stroke.
He said people who are close to him know that he has had political ambitions way before his father died.
Mr Mwanawasa said he wanted to contest the Kafulafuta seat in 2006, but his father asked him to try another constituency, but his passion has not changed.
Walyako,
Mpombo has never been at Nortec. He is a simple Grade 12 kaponya from Chiwala secondary school. The highest job he has had is purchsing manager at Boart Zambia where he screwed big. He failed at Ministry of energy and his last portfolio where Mwanawasa had placed him as a rubber stamp when himself was in-charge.
Let us be reasonable please!! Magande and Mpombo behaved like PF in MMD. They deserved what they have got.
Can any of you PF cadres imagine these two being PF members and behaving the way they did for a very long time? They could have been beaten, threatened and thrown out by Sata and Given. DO NOT PRETEND TO BE BETTER THAN ANY OTHER PARTY. You are the same if not WORSE!!!!
This is good so we go for bye elections. For chilanga MMD will lose , I dont know about kafulafuta bane.
Ala yazanda pa zed. So many bye elections, let us hope this time RB will not follow Magande and Mbombo to their graves . Mmmmm ni pa Zed bane ala ya lizanda
In light of the above article and the “
“Bates [Namuyamba] just emphasized that ‘although we are here our mandate finished in July. We don’t even know what we are doing here, so we should be exemplary in the manner we manage our affairs’,” one of the sources said” from the PF vuvuzela, the POST, under a title “Mpombo responds to expulsion: No problem, I’m game” I just like that fact that MMD is consistently reducing itself to being a Nyanja political party since “Notable absentees included Chongwe member of parliament Sylvia Masebo, works and supply minister Mike Mulongoti and Magande“.
I therefore ask the mighty UPND Team to invite their former sympathisers, Mpombo and Magande, as soon as possible.
All the best to MMD and the expelled duo in…
LT.. and SC don’t bullshhiity us!!
Enjoy and grab what you can now, while your banda is still in plot 1… we are coming after you. to try and portray that your mmd can win without these two huge brainers of your party is sucidal.. mmd suuuckks!
Viva pact.
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) members yesterday took their party president Michael Sata to task at a public rally over who is going to lead the alliance between the PF and the United Party for National Development (UPND) in next year’s elections. The members demanded that Mr Sata tells them if he or UPND president Hakainde Hichilema will lead the pact in the elections. They shouted their demand at a rally in Kitwe yesterday but Mr Sata evaded the question.PF Copperbelt acting provincial chairman Davies Mwila told Mr Sata that the opposition party was under pressure from members who want to know who will lead the alliance.Mr Mwila, who is also Chipili Member of Parliament, said PF members on the Copperbelt have given the leadership of the pact one month in which to name the candidate.
He said to win the elections next year, the members must know who their candidate will be without any further delay.
Mr Sata did not answer the question and instead went into thanking the residents for voting PF candidates. There were no prominent UPND members at the rally that was held to thank the electorate over the PF’s recent election wins in Chifubu constituency and Chimwemwe ward. PF vice-president Guy Scott said survival of the pact depends on common sense and principles.
Chi dora kwati echine chaPARTY.Mwanya 2011 kuyabebele! I hear shakafuswa is also being plotted next.
#15, Tell your boss RB to invest more in education of carders like you because your propaganda is too cheap to image build the disgraced RB. Needless to take you to economic schools, just elementary English will do. You will learn that effective usage of written English language is based on correct syntax, punctuation, phonology and pragmatics. It has nothing to do with misplacing big words unnecessarily. Since you are too blind to see the obvious, you will appreciate my post only after PF hummers you 3-0. Mpulungu, Kafulafu and Chilanga.
#15, I don’t need to cite anybody. It’s both correct in law and in fact that when an MP is expelled, the speaker must declared his/her sit vacant. We know you are dull who cannot understand these constitutional provisions but a staunch cadre like you ought to know this. If not for the corrupt Speaker who is an MMD cadre, the speaker should by now have declared the sits of people like Machungwa and Major Chizyuka. But the speaker knows that his will spill the bad political omen that has haunted RB were ever he goes.
Power is sweet and has gone to the heads of the current MMD leadership. They mistakenly think they will remain in power ‘wamuyayaya’ and continue with their dictatorial tendencies. It is a fact that sooner or later ( no matter how long it takes) they will themselves be sent packing unceremoniously.
Red Card-Free at Last,
Please wilatusebanya nechisungu. Ala tata mulepatula sana.
“It’s both correct in law and in fact that when an MP is expelled, the speaker must declared his/her sit vacant”.
-“the speaker must declared his/her sit vacant” Excerpted
–that has haunted RB “were ever” he goes
What do you mean? Please turn to your native language asap.
#34 I feel there is no need of embarrassing yr friend for making errors such as the the ones you are refferring to. What is important if you are mature is to get the meaning from context. Remember we are all Zambias and not native English speakers, hence, it is common sense that such mistakes are unavoidable to most of us. Britons will never advise anyone to resort to their native language if they are having commuinactions problems and would rather get their points from the context.
I dont mean to fight you but just to give a friendly advice.
Our daily politics..I wish well Mr Magande in his political journey…wish he was our country’s president as opposed to this Banda man-he has really failed us
#35, thank you for telling this cadre to learn to reason. My error above is nothing but a casting error. i added a “d” at the end of the word declare. That does not mean that my I have a problem with english. My english writing skills are far much better than this cadre in 34. I can not be embarassed by a disgraced MMD cadre.
What is wrong with this PF supporters…!! do they know that Mpombo and Magande where UPND members which 3-0..!! a you talking about..!! This PF people are so dull and can not lead our country..!!!! HH is the presidential candidate and Sata vice president mark my words,,, if you want this pact to work..!! Otherwise you should forget it…!! In 1967,, Bemba-Tonga group supported Kapwepwe as vice president to kaunda because he was gud…!! This time you must return the fevers to upnd,,, Sata know the history very well..!! why are hinding presidential candidate when you know him…!!!
Magande and Mpombo are welcome to the UPND provided they do not run for office. the best positions they can assume is advisor to the leadership of HH.
VIVA HH!
Police arrest Shakafuswa brothers over money laundering
The Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit of the Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested Charles Shakafuswa brother of Katuba Member of Parliament Jonas Shakafuswa for money laundering activities involving over K200 million.
One of the Shakafuswa bothers is currently on the run.
DEC spokesperson John Nyawali has confirmed that 49-year old Shakafuswa a resident of New John Laing Township in Lusaka was arrested together with his two nephews Farai Mhende, 23, and Victor Banda, 33.
He said that Shakafuswa, acting together with his younger brother Ephraim Shakafuswa and their two nephews swindled Sunburn Trading and Enterprises of Hungary a total of K201 million by purporting to have secured land in Livingstone which…
He said that Shakafuswa, acting together with his younger brother Ephraim Shakafuswa and their two nephews swindled Sunburn Trading and Enterprises of Hungary a total of K201 million by purporting to have secured land in Livingstone which they wanted to lease to the company.
The Shakafuswa brothers claimed that they had secured land near the Victoria Falls from ZESCO Limited for Sunburn Traders to construct some recreation facilities.
The Money was transferred to the Shakafuswa brothers and their two nephews through electronic money transfer using and identified commercial Bank and an international money transfer organisation.
Nyawali said a manhunt has since been launched for Ephraim Shakafuswa who is currently on the run.
The trio has been released on Police bond and will appear in court soon.
Nyawali has appealed to Zambians who have partnered with foreign companies to be sincere and honest in their transactions in order to boost economic developments in the country.
‘Magande switched off his phone’, i think the man is scared from the Jacket ripping saga but please sir answering your mobile wont damage it. No one can punch your through the phone.
As for Mpombo am sure he is tight perusing the dictionary for further tantrums tomorrow when he receives the letter.
Another success story, keep the fight going. Simple Zambians have no access to such investors. These so called legacy holders are the worst culprits when it comes to corrupt activities. First it was Mushili and child, now its Shakas brothers, embarassing they were abusing his position as Minister.
Don’t you all see that this is what Magande wanted. Now he can freely join any party that wants him. This move will come and bite RB and his cronies big time.
In regards to Mazoka, if the president of your country approaches you and asks you to help the country. Would you refuse? If you know what needs to be done, would you refuse so in the next 5 years you help Mazoka? He took the job to help the country that was in need at that time. That is what men with integrity do, put their selfish ambitions aside for the majority.
its sad coz dspite being a poor country, we will continue to hold by elections- I think our country has money its just that the people in government dont know how to distribute it. How i wish the money for by electons can be channeled to developmental projects such as buliding schools and hospitals. so soon we will have by elections to replace mpombo and magande, wat a waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not sure if #34 Red Card was harsh in his observation about poor grammar and spelling on the blog
but I think he has a point. I would rather blog in a language that I’m comfortable with in order to be understood clearly instead of making a series of spelling mistakes which distort the sense and meaning of a contribution.
Mpombo and Magande are now history. Not even the pact are willing to get these turncoats because they are liabilities.
#47
Spot on.Call a spade a spade. His grammar leaves much to be desired. At primary school,we used to have spelling tests and even in the US there are Spelling Bees.
#34 you suck for sure…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
iye! from designer suits to ama suiti yapa saliz, to having less than 10 million mu account! to now being expelled from mmd! awe chapwa! this man is as good as a walking dead saliz boutique.
Anarchy mu party! No tolerance for different views! Democracy! Come Sata please!
Mr. Mpombo and Mr. Magande had it coming, in fact they were spared for too long. Yaba, what with the K10m bounced cheque and the K200m unpaid rice bill, these are problems, “it never rains, but pours”. If there is no money coming from Parliament, Katwishi mwe. Post help them after all, they have been helping to sell your paper.
Please ba Mpombo and Magande, don’t raise any injunctions. It’s time to prove your popularity. Especially ba Magande who claimed to have been annointed by LPM, this is the time to prove that you were worth annointing, and whether Zambians would have agreed with LPM’s choice of leader for them.
Ba Mpombo, now use your bombastic language to campaign, i.e. if voters will understand your message hidden in bombastics.
52, But Mr Sata is worse, he expelled 20 MPs over si.lly things which he accepted indirectly by agreeing to Pact with UPND whose MPs participated in NCC. Imagine what sense is there to expel your MPs for going to NCC but agree to Pact with UPND which has allowed its MPs to do exactly what you expelled your MPs for. Can only make sense to kaponyas.
#34 wali blakaa!!!!!!
#55 You must exuse PF kaponyas, they have short memories and that is why they choose to ignore Sata’s words during the 2006 election regarding Chiluba as well as the third-term debacle, Chawama massacre or his latest u-turn regarding the taxing of the mines. You have to forgive them as PF are simple folk. They talk about the lack of democracy in MMD and yet there has never been a single convention held in PF and all appointments in the party are personally endorsed by Sata who is the only who has hands on the party’s purse strings.
He who laughs last, laughs the most. We shall see where these events are leading to, come 2011 we shall laugh the most!!! For sure Lupiya will regret all these decisions, sometimes its better to keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. Those that are sucking up to him will seal their lips come result time in 2011.
Sad news,2 more MPS for the PF pact in parliment, blessing in disguise for the opposition.it will be very intresting to see the outcome for the 2 vacant seats.Sata sholud bring HON Mangande &GEORGE to join the PF pack.Good luck to the opposition parties..
According to the PF vuvuzela in a story entitled “Call early polls, Sata challenges Rupiah“, it has been reported that ““Those with money can come and put here. This money you are donating is what will take us to Mpulungu to go and grab late Lameck Chibombamilimo’s seat from MMD,” said [Mr PF/MC] Sata while point at the three drums, which were placed right in front of the podium” which is surprising because the PF-UPND PACT has not yet decided who will field a candidate in Mpulungu between PF and UPND. Interesting enough it is clear that PF/MC Sata is broke since it/he is borrowing money for campaigns in Mpulungu from starving CB people.
How I hope the mighty UPND will also start posturing themselves as participating in the Mpulungu by-election.
Be blest…
# 60 Maestro Hhe HH, I have followed your comments, whilst it cannot be denied that you are staunch UPND supporter & I respect your choice. Honestly PACT will field candidates in Masaiti, Mpulungu and Chilanga through PF and grab them from MMD. Thats what we all want. If UPND had more votes than PF in Chilanga then we should give way to UPND there, If PF had more Votes UPND hould give way. I’m not just comfortable with HH & Mr. Sata failing to hold joint cmpaign rallies, the 3 by-Elections will serve the test of time.
chilanga and Kafulafuta for UPND..
Why has everyone got their knickers in a twist because of these expulsions? My only surprise is that it took MMD so long to expel Mpombo and Magande. Not that i agree with the basis of their decision – which is nothing other than dictatorial non tolerant tendancies.
I doubt that this decision will take the 2 MP’s by surprise either, i just hope that the electorate wake up to the fact that their representative is their MP and not a political party. If voters stick with their MP’s thats the only way to make government truly accountable in Parliament.
Politics should be about service and not getting a livelihood, so in that respect i hope that the loss of financial rewards will not hit Maganda or Mpombo too hard.
By elections again!!! God do these pipo really have the interest of the pipo and country at heart. wasn’t there any other way they could have disciplined these two apart from causing unnecessary by elections when 2010 is almost coming to an end n will be having elections next year. so where is this money going to come from? were ever it will come from it could have been taken to other developmental projects for the country. GOD!!! my heart bleeds whenever i read about zambian politics.
Let us grab the tree seats from MMD bane. MMD should be beaten 3 to 0 so that they pack their bags earlier than 2011. Us we want those seats, we cant sleep bane.
MMD kuya bebele bane.
