Forget What Lies Behind

Share

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“…But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind straining toward what is ahead”
(Philippians 3:13, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Are you determined to forget what lies behind? I know many people don’t fully understand what it means to forget the past. They wonder, “How can I forget something that’s happened to me?” But one definition of the word forget is to disregard intentionally or to overlook. See, you have to intentionally disregard your past so that it doesn’t keep you from moving forward. That means the good and the bad. Sometimes our past victories keep us from rising higher as much as past failures. If we don’t let go of the old, we’ll never be able to embrace the new.

Remember, it doesn’t matter what’s happened in your history, it’s time to forget what lies behind. Make the choice today to press forward. Trust that God has a better future in store for you. Trust that He’s working behind the scenes on your behalf. As you intentionally disregard what lies behind and press forward, I believe God will pour out His favor, grace and blessing upon you and lead you into the abundance He has prepared for you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I choose to forget the past today. I don’t want anything to hold me back from the future You have prepared for me. I choose forgiveness and ask that You help me, by Your Spirit, to press forward in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  1. becareful what you teach, religon is a dangerous weapon that destruct peoples minds. CHRISTIANITY WAS FORCED on our ancestors by the slave masters who tried to change and take away our african culture and heritage

  2. Amen…. and to do this you must have trusted in the Lord Jesus christ as your personal saviour otherwise it will be dificult for one to let it go. The spirit of God helps us in the time of need.

  3. :) KUNTA KINTE we knew God before hite people read the Bible. Jethro divided the true Israelites into tribes and judges and all. He taught Moses and his daughter was ethiopian. Need I explain more? The Lord’s blessings for you my friend. Seek Jesus.

  4. A part of me is saddened for mankind, frustrated in considering all the folks generationally brainwashed from birth, indoctrinated from their first breath, and subsequently immersed in the propaganda of religion to the point where rational thought to the contrary becomes impossible, as their brains have created thousands, perhaps millions, of neural transmitter pathways all reinforcing the same faulty information as if it were scientific fact.

For those religiously afflicted, the misinformation permeates, thus contaminating, their entire cognitive decision making process, rendering true objective religious examination as well as many other mental explorations, unlikely at best.

Most will never escape the mental delusion of religious teaching and will typically fall into the category of those … not ready to be unplugged, as deviation from the implanted belief system pushes the victim into frightening mental territory most cannot fathom nor endure for long, given that most of the religious dogma conveniently stigmatizes non-belief with loss of favor with the appointed deity in a pure pavlovian response conditioning.

Not that those of us spared of such mental aberration have all the answers, but at least we’re free to scientically investigate for the truth, rather than attempt to divine it through a fog of mysticism, fable, and superstition.

  6. KUNTA A KINTE and Moderator,
You need to be saved from your Sin of misbelief in Jesus Christ.
If you die in your Sin, you go to hell.
Jesus, the Son of God died for you to be saved.

You can talk and talk about religion, but none of those will save you.
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.” The Bible in Book of Romans says so.

  7. People that base their argument on religion and refuse God’s only inspired word (The Bible) are shallow minded and are like brute beasts that perish.
