UPND to pursue Chiluba’s corruption cases

Share

Second Republican President, Frederick Chiluba
The United Party for National Development, UPND, has vowed to re-prosecute Second Republican President, Frederick Chiluba, for the corruption cases it says he has been dubiously been cleared of by the MMD government.

UPND Vice President, Richard Kapita, told QFM that the UPND will ensure Dr. Chiluba faces justice no matter how long it takes because the party is convinced that Dr. Chiluba stole from the Zambian people.

Mr. Kapita says it is not by coincidence that Dr. Chiluba’s aides are the only ones who have been found guilty of corruption, adding that there is therefore no way the Second Republican President can be found innocent.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kapita has advised Dr. Chiluba to keep quiet on his alleged dubious acquittal, saying he should instead sit down to reflect on the wrongs he committed.

He says Dr. Chiluba should be the last person to talk about these matters because he is at the centre of the whole episode.

Mr. Kapita adds that Dr. Chiluba remains a thief in the eyes of the Zambian people no matter how smart he might try to play his game.

Dr. Chiluba recently said he was genuinely smiling following the Lusaka High Court ruling on the London Judgment

  1. UPND are a bunch of jokers. Late Levy pursued FJT for almost 8 yrs without a single criminal conviction to show for it. The only buggers who benefited were the shady characters otherwise known as the Nchito’s. Is UPND telling us they will spend another decade pursuing a futile case?

  2. Lishuko lyakwe, mulekeni kamo nganimwe! You are the same chaps, the likes of Bwezani and Levy who waste tax payers money. Lets move on for goodness sake..

  3. Let us forgive this man and move forward, pursuing him any further won’t take us anywhere. There are better things that UPND can do when in government, like reducing the high poverty levels in this country.

  4. Chiluba must be pesued and made to account for his numerous thefts. UPND spot on, persue him, sue him with costs so that we finish him for having stolen US. We need to recover what HE stole and leave him a poor man. I will move a motion inparliament, all former and current presidents must lose their entiltlement the moment they are found to have stolen. hence no building FTJ a mansion? why rward him for having stolen from us.

  5. Karma is a B.itch, its always got a way of biting you back in the a.ss, one way or the other this little piece of shi.t will have to face the music,if not in this life then in the afterlife. If only he had a conscious he would just sit quietly at a farm in Musangu village to enjoy the loot, instead of annoying some of us,bloody egoistic cretin…i wouldnt even worst my piss on him if he was on fire

  6. Still attacking the judiciary? Move on Kapita, we the people of NWP are tired of you with no programs but hiding in Chiluba is a thief story of 20 years ago. You were given K600 million CDF cash in your area but can you show how you used it? The Angolan chief and your relative’s villages across the border are not supposed to benefit from this CDF facility and mind you we know that you are not Zambian but from Angolan ka…We heard Chiluba stole just like you did but its nauseating to see you comment on it day in and out. We also heard about how Mwanawasa stole and so did his wife Maurine and Kaunda, every politician is a thief otherwise you have no business to be in politics it seems even in America, England, China, India, South Korea, Germany, you name the country they steal…Move on…

  7. UPND surely find a better reason so as to win elections. Chiluba factor is not the best way, talk about serious issues affecting the ordinary Zambians not this dwarf.

  8. UPND DO THEY EXIST THOUGHT PARTY DIED WITH MAZOKA SIKOTA CHISANGA SICHINGA THE REST ARE COCKROACHES. UPND IS A DEAD AND ROTTEN CARCAS BEINF FEASTED ON BY HYENAS

  9. no: 11, you are not from NW province but a thief were he comes from with you…!! chiluba must be arrested without going to courts now.. This short animal is a criminal. I do not understand people from copperbelt why they still support this short peagim..!!! He killed alot of people in the copperbelt…!!! Lazoo.!!! Let me also mention here that, pact will not field one presidential candidate but two persons. We can not bring another thief in state house…!!!

  10. Politics are finished in Zambia surely a dead issue raising from the grave comes back as a popular one just to malign our thinking and belief to vote for you, no wonder – just resort to BEATING YOUR WIVES BUT NOT KILLING THEM. Where is the MANIFESTO for PF/UPND you are just wasting the technology for speaking for this crooked man, just dump him in a rubbish bin – period. Though i support your Mou.

  11. if ka chiluba had shown enough humilty and had just kept quiet I think most people would have just wanted him to be forgiven but instead this ka arrogant son of a … is busy antagonizing people with his tuma conceited and vain statements.

  13. Just leave Chiluba alone talk about development what is wrong with some of these chaps learn to move on, pleople will not eat the idea of taking others to jail.

  14. In case some of u think UPND is dead, then u are lost in the widerness. Where were u when UPND was hammering MMD in Mfumbwe and Solwezi Central? We are going hammer again in Chilanga whether u like it or not. MMD under Money(Rupial) have had 7 by -elections and MMD has only managed 2. PF retained their 2 seats, ADD retained Luena and MMD lost 2 to UPND in Northwestern. As we speak north western now under UPND.

  15. Talking of taking Chiluba back to court is also development.please dont use English if you are not confident enough.
Problem you think development is just infrastructure

  16. HH does not to be annointed by Sata for progress either in politics or business. Sata is not Zambia, if Sata can anoint to be president why is he not annointing himself? Sata is on in Lusaka City, Kabwe town, CB towns , Luapula and Northern province, that is all and he will never rule this country. If PF think their are more popular than UPND, let them field a candidate in Chilanga so that UPND can beat them togather and at the same time with MMD. VIVA UPND

  17. Chiluba is not only a thief but a murderer as well. The lazo’s case should be pursued to it’s logical conclusion otherwise we will be creating a bad precedent a nation. Any serious opposition party would ignore this issue at their own peril. A lot of people are angered by the manner in which this issue was handled and UPND are spot on to declare their intention to pursue this issue. Our fore fathers taught us that ‘mulandu si uola’!!!

  18. Success in building a political party shld be given to Sata yes, but commendation should go late Mazoka who beat trick Chiluba and Mwanawasa in 2001 elections and Mazoka’s performance is yet to be beaten by either Sata or HH both in terms presidential votes, parliamentary and number of local govt seats.Anyway Sata is an empty politician I have ever heard of.

  19. Ba UPND,
You will prosecute him posthumously? Because this party will never be in Government for the next 20 years or so. Why cheat yourselves imwe ba mbuli…….

  20. Is this a pursuit that UPND really want to take? Rather, are they just looking for voter support knowing that this played well with Mwanawasa??

The timing of this announcement is very skeletal and bony. Billions of Kwacha’s have been spent on this case.
Chiluba surely stole money. Mwanawaa failed to make the case. London Judgement has demised.

Zambia needs to move on with National Development. Unless if UPND comes up with new way of handling this case. In the meantime, HH should concentrate on getting elected as President. The chances of him getting to Power next year look very slim.

As for SATA, it can be said that, though the man is condemning Chiluba for political support, if he had to win 2011, he will start dinning with Chiluba and change current claims.

  21. “UPND Vice President, Richard Kapita, told QFM that the UPND will ensure Dr. Chiluba faces justice no matter how long it takes because the party is convinced that Dr. Chiluba stole from the Zambian people.”
This is an interesting statement. 1. It showes that all the political parties in opposition would be quiet happy to force the DPP to do something that they want. It is the DPP, not the MMD who prosecutes cases in court. The Constitution of Zambia does not allow anyone to influence the DPP. The same man will be DPP because he enjoys security of tenure. 2. Mr Kapita is ignorant of the doctrine of double jeopardy. To retry a person, you need new evidence.

  22. # 20 Trials and Temptations
I will spare her just for tonite before I go Addis Abba Way.
It’s like there is nothing happening new which can aspire me as a professional to join politics except losing my head and making a ‘big’ silly mistake of gasping with a resignation – Yaba.

  23. It is quiet obvious that these chaps want to deceive the public to vote for them. They will then turn around and say that they cannot interfere with the DPP once in power. I hope the Zambian people will see through these wicked and evil people who want power at any cost even by the use of subterfuge. What a shame that politics has come to a pretty pass! The problem of Dr Chiluba’s alleged cases of plunder lies in the foundation the late President laid. There are people who know of the deal that LPM, KK and Chiluba struck. Mazoka and Sata always avered that LPM was an iullegitimate President. It is ironic, that the only person who was elected by his NEC and subjected to public vote to be President, RB is the one who is most attacked!

  24. Those with blood of thieving running through their veins see nothing wrong with CHILUBA. You can not just tola fye public resources, he should be held accountable finito

  25. For you characters # 31 Why do you keep on reciting the same passage or paragraphs we have read all over again? Please just say what you want to say – period. This is blog!

  26. The challege we have has a nation is playing politics all the time. This case for our former head of state has been was bungled the moment politicians became judges coupled with the arrogance of the accused

  27. Who ever has not sinned should start throwing stones! Useless zambians setling on petty issues, who has never stolen even at places of work? Leave trivial matters and move on. Zambian need solutions to poverty.

  28. Immaturity from the guy who was waken up and he passed on to others and we are a bad people who do not want developmental issues but PHD (Pull him down). I do not not how our generation shall overcome this mentality.

  29. # 6 You can only forgive somebody who has CONFESSED and shows REMORSE for the sins they have committed……..NOT aka kaka FUPI Wabufi….KAZAMANGIDWA….Lekeni ba PF tuteke uyu mwaka!!!!!!

  30. Time and again history has empirically recorded that all hate mongers who have schemed against President Chiluba have miserably hit the wall and surrendered their lives to hell. Judge Japhet Banda, Levy Mwanawasa, Zambia Police Lusaka commanding officer Greenwell Ng’uni and 2 other Zambians are now gnashing their teeth in hell with agony as a reward for tramping on an innocent Chiluba.

  32. Sheer hypocrisy; work on strengthening the institutions. Chiluba was not alone in this; Grant Thornton under HH was given USD12.m to resuscitate RAMCZ plc so it could be sold as a going concern. Only USD4.449 came to the mine. Why else do you think the mine flooded? The accounts are there to prove this.

  33. FTJ MUST ACCOUNT FOR HIS SINS ANY SANE PERSON WILL SEE THAT THE JUDICIARY WAS MANIPULATED BY MMD, IF HIS WIFE WAS FOUND GUILT OF RECEIVING A STOLEN ITEM , HOW ABOUT THE THIEF. UPND I RIGHT TO PERSUE THIS CASE BUT I KNOW US BEMBAS WE LIKE UNDER HAND TATCTICS, LOOK AT ALL THE PIPO WHO HAVE STOLEN 90% ARE BEMBAS, MUSONDA ZANACO, FAUSTIN KABWE,KA CHILUBA ETC, LETS WEED THIS BEHAVIOR YAKWEBA ATI NATOLA FYE, ITS STEALING PERIOD. BA FI CLOUR DONT POST RUBISH ON THIS BLOG EVERY ONE KNOW THAT US BEMBAS WE ARE THIEFS AND I WANT THIS STUPIDITY TO END IT LET US BE AS HONEST AS THE TONGAS AND LOZIS , EVERYWHERE I GO IN CHICAGO PIPO WILL HAVE TO ASK ME IF AM BEMBA ON NIGERIAN, MULE TUSEBANYA BA.FI.KALA. MUCHIINJI . PICK A LEAF FROM OTHER TRIBES. I KNOW I HAVE SAID THE TRUETH AND IT WILL PAIN DA THIEF

  34. Poor fellows….the boat was missed even before it started off….let Upnd hold a convention, HH will not be the leader this is why he should think serioulsy about winnign the presidential elections if he cannot even win the party election….Chizuyuka told you but too thick to listen..now Sata looks like a better leader than you calculator boy

  35. One day he will be tall enough for our justice system to see him for the criminal he is including all his misdeeds against the Zambian people. Now is his time to smile, our time is coming also.

  36. 4, That is a point, UPND has not actually stated that they will pursue Chiluba when their party assumes power, not even as a Pact. Looks like they are no longer sure if they will ever be in power, but if that is the case indeed how are they going to pursue him? Hallucinations at play again, just to be in the news, but their colleagues in the Pact seem to be shying away from that stance already for obvious reasons.

  37. Thief in the eyes of the people? Speak for yourself Kapita, as a law abiding citizen I believe that a person is deemed innocent until convicted by the courts of law, regardless of what I think or suspect.

  38. In a parallel thread for today on LT where Guy Scott is being mentioned as a possible successor of Mr PF/Sata MC, it was reported that “Further, he [Mr PF/Sata MC] made the anti-corruption crusade waged by Mwanawasa an issue, declaring that he will pardon former President Chiluba if elected.

The message found resonance on the Copperbelt and in Lusaka, Luapula and Northern provinces. By the time the 2006 general elections were coming, Michael Sata and PF were by far the biggest threat to Mwanawasa and the MMD’s hold on power.

This was so despite the alliance of the UNIP, UPND and FDD, who formed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)” a message by the writer of an article which the mighty UPND Team does not need to overlook if they need to form GRZ Administration.

    Matt…

  39. According to ZWD Mulongoti, Liato, Peter Daka and Zcon Chief have stolen money meant for the completion of Levy Park opposite Lusaka Central Police Station. A PR for Zcon is very upset and has threatend ZWD to be sued. for ‘publishing the truth’

  40. I think the wisest thing that RB has done is to close this case and prevent further wastage of national resources. LPM took 8 years after being forced by the Post and failed. Should we waste another 8 years? Didn’t LPM as SC know that registering verdicts rendered in foreign lands will present legal hitches? This ka guy misapplied and stole our resources but going to prison, he wont. We can only punish those who facilitated – but also note that the very people who are making noise are busy protecting a key accomplice, one Shansonga just because he has papers with their label.
