Rupiah to launch Chawama hospital tomorrow

Share

President Rupiah Banda is tomorrow expected to officially open the newly upgraded Chawama Hospital in Lusaka.

The President would commission the Chawama Hospital, which has been upgraded from a clinic to a level-one hospital with almost all operation theatres, including caesarian sections, which were usually done at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

Chawama Clinic is among the five clinics that have been upgraded to the hospital level in Lusaka in an effort to decongest the UTH.

President Banda said in a statement releasedtoday by his special assistant for press and public relations Dickson Jere, ahead of the official opening of Chawama hospital that apart from alleviating the work load at UTH, people would be able to care for their loved ones closer to their homes.

Others that have been ungraded from clinics to level one hospital include, Kanyama, Chilenje, Matero and Chipata Compound.

Government spent over K6 billion on these projects.

In addition, President Banda kick-started the construction of the Lusaka General Hospital, which is expected to be completed later this year as part of Government efforts to decongest the UTH as the population of Lusaka continue to grow.

President Banda this morning commissioned the first-ever Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scan (MRI Scan) at the Cancer Diseases Hospital in Lusaka, which will help Government save money from taking patients outside the country for diagnostic services.

  2. working boma. thats why HH has given up. MMD solid and Chawama has a big population and they area MP is one of the rebels who will stand on MMD ticket

  3. Sounds good, operation theatres are in place at Chawama hospital! Good because the president can now book his next knee check-up appointment there to save resources. Chiluba too must have his heart transplant at this hospital, no more tricks.

  4. what is a hospital, does it depend on the outfit or good services? As far as I know that 2 wards monument is not even qualified to be called a clinic. we need quality services and skilled personels. that theatre is for what? what kind of people are expected there? a 50m square smaller than my yard and u call it a hospital, shame on you:-?:-?:-?

  5. #1&3 Iye, ifya ifi ba president bobe balomfwa amafi.i pity you.weather you exergerate or not the fact remains tha chilebomba na 2011 ni less than 12 months kanshi kukosa

  6. PF, UPND & the Post, ni zee. RB is silently delivering projects in the brief period he’s been in power. He’s not wasting billions on shady local and foreign lawyers, chasing FJT on futile cases. The man is delivering roads, schools and hospitals! I bet the Post and ka Mmembe will still find fault in RB’s commendable efforts!

UPND and PF kaponya’s, watch this space, RB will sort you out clean and square come 2011.

  7. From what we can hear and read, we can only say congratulations to Pres Banda’s administration. This explains why The Post carried the congestion at UTH story to steal the thunder.

  8. If the projects that are being carried out across the country were been done by sata.there would have been noise, imagine people are desperate to prop up this man such that the always want to remind us that he pioneered the construction of the great east fly over bridge, but they dont want to talk about the people who initiated the construction of the first cancer clinic in zambia.we dont even know them, for the first time after kaunda grain storage sheds have been constructed no one is making noise. and yet some fools are claiming ati ba sata beka eba action. what a load of nonsense

  9. Am I the only one who thinks Rupiah Banda when dressed in MMD chitenge material looks like a lizard called BLUE MUTWE!!!

  10. good developement and maybe a little overdue; hats off all the same; i only hope manpower and staffing logistics have been taken care of
suggestion: mr president, this will be a very good opportunity to put the much taunted private/ public partnership in place. outsource the patient care component of management by offering contracts to private medical practitioners or groups. there are always doctors will to take on extra work for decent renumeration

  11. By the way congrats to Mmembe 4 the IPI award. The man makes mistakes but u cant deny thta he has been a great son of the soil.

I cant believe that The Times of Z is the same paper which once produed the likes of Patu Simoko,Samu Zulu,Kapelwa Musonda,Sam Zulu!!!times change indeed.

  12. #8 Big Pipe- I hope you MMD will now stop flying to SA Clinics. Yaba just openning ka Shanty Compound su clinic you call it development? Be sides it is my money that is being used not RB’s. That thing could have been opened by a deuty PS.

  13. For you (#12, Zambia is Finished), even without the chitenge material you look like a lizard called BLUE MUTWE!!! Look in the mirror!
