L/stone UPND asks Chizyuka to quit

Namwala Member of Parliament Major Robbie Chizyuka

The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Livingstone has called on Namwala UPND Member of Parliament Robbie Chizyuka to resign from the party as he had openly insulted party president Hakainde Hichilema and shifted his allegiance to the ruling MMD.

But major Chizyuka said that the current political scenario was not about the MMD, Patriotic Front (PF) or UPND.

“All I can say is that people need to understand that the current political scenario is about the best president for Zambia in 2011,” he said.

Major Chizyuka said the only person at the moment who had the capacity to unite Zambia was Republican President Rupiah Banda.

“Why is major Chizyuka clinging to the court when the UPND has demonstrated its readiness to challenge him in Namwala District as he stands on the MMD ticket,” the UPND said.[/pullquote]
However, in a statement released in Livingstone yesterday and signed by party district publicity secretary Neto Kalwabala, the party accused Maj Chizyuka of repeatedly belittling Mr Hichilema.

The party condemned Major Chizyuka for his alleged unwarranted and unpalatable insults against Mr Hichilema in some sections of the media.

“The UPND in Livingstone wishes to remind Major Chizhyuka that Mr Hichilema is a political heavy weight with principles which could not be matched with Major Chizhyuka’s.

“Why is major Chizyuka clinging to the court when the UPND has demonstrated its readiness to challenge him in Namwala District as he stands on the MMD ticket,” the UPND said.

The UPND in Livingstone also condemned the politics of name calling, violence and hatred that were currently going on in Zambia today.

“This is exhibited in the manner that Major Chizyuka openly referred to his own party president as an under-five and a political diaper,” part of the statements reads.

The party urged Maj Chizyuka to withdraw the court case and seek a fresh mandate from the people of Namwala under a different party.

The UPND in Livingstone further called on the people of Namwala to pass a vote of no confidence on maj Chizyuka as that was the only action that could not be challenged in a court of law.

  1. What are the youths talking about? Mr. Hichilema has admitted that he is not a heavy weight and I quote, “Please stop coming to cheat me that I can win an election alone because statistics are there for 2001 up to 2008 to show that I cannot win.” end quote.

So please elaborate what you mean exactly when you say Mr. Hichilema is a political heavyweight.

  2. When the opposition parties are supposed to be showing unity before 2011 there are busying acting as clowns in a circus. Too much bickering and no propaganda. My hope in politics is quickly fading. Time flies and before these monkeys realise it the elections will be upon us and chi RB will win again. Even the MMD are now looking more sensible with hyenas like VJ & GK amongst them. Am sad for UPND.

  3. HH:Chizyuka is foolishman with a big head and no brain.

    UPND: Silent.

Chizyuka:HH is a light weight, under five politician, diaper politics.

UPND: Uproar, Chizyuka insulting our President.

Before you castigate Chizyuka, first castigate HH, he started it. Chizyuka is only giving back as good as he gets.

  4. Chizyuka should demostrate his popularity by accepting the expulsion from the party other than making baseless and uttering nonsense which the Govt controlled media finds as credible source of information

  5. Magande is not contesting his expulsion, so why is major chisuzi refusing to recontest namwala seat under MMD if he thinks RB is the best president for Zambia. Try and see who agrees with you in Namwala CHICKEN! KWEKWEKWEKWEKWE

  6. Chizyuka will be sorry for himself as Sata and HH rule next year. He will remember the UPND as he struggles as an MMD cadre in the opposition next year. He will be crushed politically and financially come 2010

  7. You wonder wheather the chap was trained as a military man. A real Major in any army uses his brains well because he is supposed to be a war planner. The chap has miscalculated because he siding with the losers to be. Big shame you coward, just accept the expulsion and see what happens to you in the bye election even with RB’s support. Your political career is over!!! Ba Major ba pa zed.

  8. With the tough life in Zambia today, who can blame him? he needs that K450million gratuity due next year. I doubt he’s ever earned that much before. he’s got bills to pay, family to take care of, creditors to settle etc..

  9. Chizuyuka is right HH has conceded defeat that he can not get to state house unless he piggy backs on PF…UNIP…ADD….So if HH knows he cannot defeat RB whats the point of sacking Major….

  10. What nonsense is this about RB being the only presidential candidate capable of uniting Zambia? Only people with the feeblest of minds would believe that. In any case, there is no crisis of unity in the country, unless it is in the tribally inclined mind of one Robbie Chizyuka and his ilk!
This song of unity is a red herring and a smoke screen that RB has been singing ever since he smelled the scent of Plot 1. It is a sham! The previous President left the country a united entity. So what’s all this noise about uniting Zambia? Unity is not the critical question today, unless some evil, power-hungry politician or so-called leader wants to foment trouble in the country! The ordinary people, no matter where they come from, accept each other quite well.

  11. On ““The UPND in Livingstone wishes to remind Major Chizhyuka that Mr Hichilema is a political heavy weight with principles which could not be matched with Major Chizhyuka’s.

“Why is major Chizyuka clinging to the court when the UPND has demonstrated its readiness to challenge him in Namwala District as he stands on the MMD ticket,” the UPND said” I commend the Livingstoned UPND for such words and I hope “The UPND in Livingstone further called on the people of Namwala to pass a vote of no confidence on maj Chizyuka as that was the only action that could not be challenged in a court of law” will be taken seriously in Namwala.

    Have a blessed day all.

  12. Interesting comments here, but can someone tell me why the call is coming from Livingstone but not the electorate in Namwala?
