sata.jpgPatriotic Front (PF) President Michael Sata has threatened to drag the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), Times of Zambia and the Zambian Attorney General for allegedly reporting that he was deported from Malawi on
suspicion that he was a prohibited immigrant.

Addressing journalists in Lusaka today, Mr Sata said he will take legal action against the two media bodies and the attorney general for the unlawful reporting that he was sent out of Malawi on suspicion that he was a prohibited immigrant.

Mr Sata charged that his deportation from Malawi was politically inclined claiming that the Zambian government had sent false information to the Malawian government that his visit to that country was aimed at uniting Bakili Muluzi’s party so that it can contest the coming elections.

The PF leader who wished Bakili Muluzi good will in his political aspirations said, he did not visit Malawi to instruct the Malawian people on what they should do and who they should vote for, but instead, went to Malawi on his personal business.

Mr Sata said no person or any government can stop him from visiting any part of Africa or Malawi because his hands are clean.

He said he has since written a letter to the Malawian President Mbingu Wa Mutharika seeking clarification as to why he was deported from that country.

Mr Sata, who started off to Malawi at Lusaka International Airport at 12: 20 hrs and arrived at Chileka Airport in Blantyre in Malawi at 14: 10 hrs was deported back to Zambia through the Miami Boarder Post in Chipata Eastern Province.

The Patriotic Front President explained that though he was sent back to Zambia he had all the necessary travel documents that were checked and verified before leaving for Malawi.

Mr Sata complained that he was harassed by the Zambian Immigration Officers, Zambia Army and the Police officers who he said were supposed to have protected him from any harassments.

  1. I think the polotical nature of sothern africa follows a certain pattern where people want to do what ever is happening in neighbouring countries.Morgan Tsivangirai of the Zimbabwe’s MDC was depeorted from Zambia.I am not suprised that Malawi can do the same to MR.Sata because it the pattern of politics in southern africa where thereis a belief that what happens in Zambia should happen in Malawi.SADC and COMESA organs are just political grouping that have been turned in to talking shops. But fail to implement things that border on the freedoms of movement of people across the commom borders.

  2. Politics in the Southern part of Africa have just been changed to politics of fear, revenge personal and the like.
If at all Mr.M.C.Sata went to Dziko la Malaw’i , a peaciful and calm country to interfear with ‘her’ peace i think this would have been manifested by who received him and how.Any oposition party members to welcome him?
Any invitations by Muluzi’s political party ,et al?
On the other hand,What makes President Sata suspect the MMD did it?
The point of the matter here is:We need proof to come up with either a complaint,a claim,an accusation or makin’ any compliments.
I think we need to analize things fully. We can be so radical at times but i think the truth always set people free.If the MMD did it to embarrass Mr.Sata then that should termed as so unreasonable ,and if at all Mr.Sata just suspects whilst tangible proof is on personal perseption, then oops (sorry William)

  3. The Cobra was going to beg for money from Taiwanese businessmen – What other business can he have in that place. Shame! What an embrassment for a potential president. Better cage the man lest he becomes a lasting begger!

  4. If Mr Sata would like to stand in the 2011 elections, then he needs to start making valuable points with the elctorate and not the elected! The electorate put votes into the ballot box at election time! Trying wiht all human effort to dislodge the elected is futile if you have not made enough points to win an election. It will just be an opportunity created for others to take the presidency. I fell a “refresher course” for the man might just be a deserved outing at this juncture!

  5. In many ways I do admire Mr Sata but at this stage I feel he should get over the election hang over, stop crying about spilt milk and start getting people on board for the next elections. All these antics he is doing to only enstage him from the electorate. It would appear that most of our polical opposition leaders forget about the electorate until its too late and then hope that they will get a vote at the last minute. These are the defining moments of any party and depending on what they do from after elections up to the next election period will it will determine whose who.
