Example of a Mobile Hospital recently donated to Zambia

Vision 2011 has observed with great concern the misconception by opposition political parties and some members of the society on the procurement of mobile hospitals by government.

Vision 2011 Executive Director Patrick Mukosha said it very saddening that the opposition and some people do not appreciate the mobile hospitals that the state has bought.

In a statement to ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday, the Vision 2011 Executive Director said the mobile hospitals were part developmental programmes that the government was undertaking.

He added that the mobile hospitals would work in the interest of the most disadvantaged especially in most parts of the rural areas.

Mr. Mukosha said the problem was that certain people were quick to condemn and criticize government and say it was a sheer waste of resources without analyzing the idea behind such an acquisition.

He was quick to note that the Vision 2011 was pleased that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has a technical team capable medical personnel who shall ensure that the mobile hospitals are operated and utilized efficiently and effectively.

  1. and on those rural reas, have they constructed roads for the same mobile hospitals, there is roads to look at,fuel aswell coz am sure they will not be using water, maintenace of the hospitals, will govt b able to do all this, why dont they just construct permanent structures bcoz i believe these mobile hospitals will b more costly

  2. I we Mukosha nga tawaishiba sustainable development ikala panshi nokuteka amatako yobe panshi.
The money they are getting these mobile hospitals is borrowed money. Road Infrastructure is bad especially in Rural areas where these purported hospitals will operate. If we used the same money which will be payed back to build at least 9 big hospitals in all the provinces of Zambia it will go a long way to assist even the future generation to come and use the same facilities and improve upon them. These mobile hospitals is just a campaign ploy of the MMD and after elections these hospitals will become white elephants. RB will for sure account for this misplaced development. We will demand to know who authorized this nonsense expense against the wish of Zambian people.

  3. Mr. Mukosha,
    Please advise me.
    1) Is there going to be a set time table for the hospitals to visit the various areas?
    2) Supposing someone falls sick on the day the hospital leaves the area, how do we get it back?
    3) How do mobile hospital personnel attend to some emergency case when they are in Shangombo but the patient is in Lukulu?
    4) Don’t you think that if this Govt was sensible at all they should have bought a mobile hospital for each district or alternatively and better still built hospitals for all districts or improved the current ones ensuring that they are properly manned by qualified staff?
    5) If at the moment we do not have enough staff in hospitals, where are we going to get the ones to man the mobile ones?
    Please advise
