Share

Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has praised government for a coordinated approach in the implementation of the Mobile Issuance of National Registration Cards NRCs in southern province.

Speaking in Mazabuka yesterday when he and Home Affairs Minister Hon Stephen Kampyongo inspected the mobile issuance of NRCs, Mr Nkombo said that so far government is doing well in terms of implementing the exercise in his constituency and south province as a whole.

Nkombo who is also UPND Chairman for Elections said that there has been some pockets of miscommunication among parents and government officers who are tasked to register people on who should represent a first-time NRC holder.

And Home Affairs Minister Hon Stephen Kampyongo has warned unscrupulous people trying to take advantage of the ongoing Mobile issuance of National Registration Cards (NRCs) by taking children below the ages of 16 years to acquire NRCs.

Speaking When he stopped over in Mazabuka to check on how the exercise is progressing, Hon Kampyongo learned that some unscrupulous people had been taking underaged children to try and acquire NRCs.

Hon Kampyongo warned that all those in the business of taking people they are not related with to acquire NRCs should desist or risk going to jail as the conduct is against the law.
And Hon Kampyongo commended Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo for being present during his inspection of the Mobile NRC exercise in his constituency and district.

  2. What the problem with upnd with its an alliance? First, it was kambwili who said there is no COVID-19 in Zambia but when he was called to appear before the court, he surprised everyone that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Gary is inspecting without a mask. Is he also saying there is no COVID in Zambia? Even his supporters are not wearing masks. We are waiting for upnd to condemn Gary for putting the lives of those people in danger.

  3. This is classical example of how the Opposition leaders are misleading common people of Zambia. On one hand UPND President Hakainde Hichilema is not leaving any stone unturned to push his hypothesis on NRC at every slightest opportunity, while on the other, here we have his own party leader contradicting him. What more proof one needs that his own party leaders and Mr Hichilema are not on the same page about this. It is high time that Mr Hichilema stopped misleading people on curucial issues like NRC.

  4. Dear Mr Hichilema, have you conceded defeat in the 2021 elections even before the battle begins? You have failed to convince your own party members. Now we know why he could not convince people of Zambia. Hope it is clear now, that Mr HIchilema is misleading us. This is yet another reason, for not believing Mr Hichilema.

  5. PF under pressure now to do the right things. National issues need not go through acrimonious debates and threats of arrests when Zambians resolt to protests. Just do the right things the citizenry will commend government. At the moment, many Zambians are in detention on politically motivated offences. In Kanyama residential area people have queued for days without NRCs being issued, only those that have given money to PF cadres are issued with NRCs. This includes underage persons. So, when we verify these happenings its not out of ulterior motives but meant for PF to do the right things as witnessed by Hon Garry Nkombo in Mazabuka. Well done Hon Kampyongo, well done Hon Nkombo. Forward in Mazabuka.

  6. Thank you Mr Garry Nkombo for speaking your mind. Isn’t it the same thing, Mr Hichilema and his ‘celebrity’ friends fighting for? UPND leaders and cadres have been instigating youth with the help of celebrity singers and musicians alleging that the government was suppressing the right to express. It was, in fact, an attempt to create unrest and anarchy in Zambia with the help of foreign forces. It is good to know that there are still some leaders in UPND who are not afraid of talking the truth, which is against the party line.

  7. Who else, other than a UPND leader like Garry Nkombo to say this! Now the truth is accepted in the ranks and files of UPND, Mr Hichilema should also accept it. There is no point in propagating false narrative, which your own party leaders are not buying.

  8. Hope this clears the air now. There is no fraud in issuance of NRCs. It is just a humbug created by Mr Hichilema alone. Not even his party member and leaders are with him on this. Good that people of Zambia understood it well in time. Why are you doing this Mr Hichilema?

  9. It looks like Zambia is now just two provinces. Southern Province and the rest of Zambia. Why should special treatment be given to just one province? Why are the people of Southern Province feel that the rest of Zambia owns them a favor to govern. UPND and HH should just tell the Zambian people what they have to offer and not hold the country at ransom. The day HH will know the number of Provinces and tribes that Zambia has that is the day he will enter plot one.

  12. This proves that you can fool some people for some time. But you can’t fool all the people, all the time. And if the leaders from your own party come out with such statements, then it is all the more reason to believe that you have committed a blunder in calling out a genuine and honest effort. Not a sign of responsible politician, who aspires to occupy State House.

  13. its very sad how intelligent women and men are following such a dishonest & egoistic leader. Yes PF has its blunders, huge debts etc, but man Zambia is trying. Even USA has debt. I have south Africans ,USA and UK friends willing to kill for Zambian work/resident permit. let us learn to appreciate each other when we do well. The negativity my HH preaches will turn against him if he were ever to occupy plot 1. I sometimes agree with KZ, diaspora people have lost touch with Zambia. My cousin came from UK after 15 years and was shocked to find all much younger cousins, nieces and nephews are building houses and driving decent cars. Zambia is all we have, let us preach peace and love limo limo!

  14. I am uncomfortable seeing both Garry Nkombo and Stephen Kampyongo championing the issuance of NRCs, an ordinary and everyday government function. We might as well see them champion the issuance of death certificates, birth certificates, land title deeds, drivers’ licenses, passports, marriage certificates etc.

  15. Ba nemwine, either you are quite dense, or you’ve been living under a rock, or all the above. The issuance of NRCs is directly connected to next year’s elections. The ECZ is in the process of preparing a new voters raw. All those getting NRCs will be able to appear on the new voter’s raw. So this issue is highly politically charged. Now, the UPND god, HH is busy misinforming his supporters that this exercise is being manipulated by the PF government to disadvantage UPND strongholds. This is causing his supporters to be attacking registration officers, damaging equipment and disrupting the exercise. This is where kapyongo comes in, because his ministry is in charge of law and order. Hence him conferring with Gerry nkombo. So this is not “business as usual”. This could be a source of…
