Oh sad….roads are left in deplorable state… Really sad
You are showing photos of everything but the dam which burst and where…why do you assign a ZAF senior officer to this disaster when you have Civil Engineers, planners and Structural Engineer officers at ZNS with heavy Chink machinery at their disposal.

Many districts will be cut off from the rest of the country due to floods and heavy downpour
This is what happens when contracts are given based on suspicious circumstances. Who ever was given the contract did not build the dam to standard.

Government will move all the affected people to Mumbwa Trades school for temporal shelter until the situation is corrected,” Mr Kabwe said.

How best can floods be dealt with to ensure people do not get so affected?
1
Lisa Liywali widen dams and reserves so that heavy flows can be accommodated and stored

On others cities we may have proper and good drainage system but where they flow is another thing
1
Lisa Liywali Yes, by building more dams, floods can be well managed. Plus, this would improve ground water recharge.

Thank you People for your responses. From this I think it’s about time we constructed more dams especially in areas that are mostly affected annually by these floods.

Lisa Liywali the bridges are too short. They don’t cover the potential width or span of water flow.

Very sad for our people especially during the festive period. Government is doing all it can to help these unfortunate people. It is during times like these when we need those self proclaimed billionaires who claim to care for this nation and intend to rule it, to come out and donate money and goods. Where are they? Too much castle when it is stolen privatisation money

Blessing in disguise.
1??Much water can be impounded and used for mini hydro power projects.
2??Big dams can be constructed to support big irrigation schemes to produce crops off the rain season.
3??More indigenous trees can be planted and watered from the dam water.
4??More carbon can be sunk by increasing tree plantation hectarage.
1??Seasonal Migration can be considered in flood prone areas.
2??Change in design practice of dams and bridges to accommodate the changing climate.
3??Change in building design can be considered; floor level to be relatively above flood levels.
Hope DMMU will help our people without any politics
Only an utterly la7y mind craves for donations and hand outs when their is a disaster no matter how small as its easy to steal….it doesn’t even know why tax is paid to govt.
