Works on pedicle road to commence soon – RDA

Share

The Road Development Agency (RDA) in Luapula has confirmed that works on the pedicle road from Chembe to Mufulira will commence in January 2021.

Acting Luapula RDA Regional Manager Engineer Bernard Zulu observed that the pedicle road had become almost impassable for smaller vehicles and trucks going towards Luapula or the Copperbelt.

Eng. Zulu disclosed that RDA has since engaged a contractor to start the patch up works before the real works of working on the road commence after the 2020/2021 rainy season.

Eng. Zulu stated that because of the rains the road cannot be entirely worked on but only patched to prevent vehicles from getting stuck.

He added that RDA is aware of other roads that are almost deplorable such as the Mansa-Musaila-Samfya road.

Eng. Zulu noted that the contractor has been told to be on sight and start patching up the road.

He pointed out that just after the rain season, RDA will be busy working on the roads around the province.

  1. Government gets plenty of money from tolls and taxes nowadays. There’s no excuse for un repaired roads.

  2. Why, is it not too soon for this to happen after massive infrastructure development by the PF government? Hw can this happen whn other places continue to be ignored?

Can you tell us what you mean by, “…BEFORE THE REAL WORK OF WORKING ON THE ROAD COMMENCE…”.
THAT ROAD has cost billions of US Dollars for nothing. The whole length of the road MUST just be remade. For sure the road going to a beautiful tourist sport such Samfya and the Bangweulu Wetlands Region should be a master-piece and therefore an idea of what a tourist is going to enjoy in Luapula Province. Alas, it has just been a cash cow for whoever has been involved in it’s construction since MMD. It shocks me that RDA even exists and they could take more than 20 year to not even finish a 50km road for…

  5. It’s new year you sadists in diaspora. Do you ever take a break from your constant moaning and crying. I can’t imagine what your partners go through living with moaners. That is why most interracial relationships don’t work there abroad because they get tired of your crying and moaning . By the way who has a remedy for hangovers. Twafwa kuno

  6. It’s really sad that some greedy individuals with no hearts have messed up that road. The first contractor started well and then the contract was awarded to the one who was subcontractor by the first contractor and for those that use pedicle would agree with me that it’s really sad.Even Congolese laugh at us because this road is poorly done and it’s like no one has taken the responsibility.I hope for once politics aside the road will be done professionally. That stretch is only 70Km why should it take us more than 10 years to do that stretch? Its embarrassing

  7. What were you doing before the rains…now you wasting funds on patching up and then re-tarrring the whole road.

  8. In some countries like Kenya it rains more than 6 months in the year and they still have good roads. In Zambia, just 3 months of rain and everything is ‘we will do this after the rain season.’ ?Y ou had 9 months!!!

  9. and yet you stopped the people constructing roads at meanwood ndeke who where doing so without government money. and residents there continue to drive through muddy roads. OUT WITH YOU 2021
