Do not use youths for political violence – clergy

Share

A clergyman in Kawambwa District has bemoaned the continued use of youths by political players as vessels of violence every time the country experiences polls.

Bishop Chanda Musa of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church laments that it is unfair that politicians who should be preparing the future of young people are responsible for ruining it.

ZANIS reports that Bishop Musa was speaking during a Church service which was attended by Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa, Kawambwa Town Council Chairperson Kalumba Chifumbe, Kawambwa District Commissioner James Kalumba and his Nchelenge counterpart Ivo Mpasa.

Bishop Musa has since appealed to political party leaders to resist the temptation of recruiting youths to engage in violence in order to advance their political causes.

The cleric called for peace and unity by embracing the One Zambia, One Nation motto ahead of this year’s General Elections.

And Bishop Musa has paid glowing tribute to President Edgar Lungu for transforming Kawambwa by the so many developmental activities happening in the district.

And Mr. Chilangwa says the Patriotic Front government will work with the Church to preach peace and unity ahead of the polls.

Mr. Chilangwa said God only existed among peace -loving people, hence the need for every Christian to embrace people.

The Minister explained that government will do everything possible to preserve the peace that the country has enjoyed since independence.

Mr. Chilangwa who is Kawambwa Central Constituency Member of Parliament also pledged to donate 50 pockets of cement and roofing sheets towards the construction of a school at Church.

  4. This country gained Independence because of the youths involvement. So many young people were involved in the fight for freedom. This sitting govt is a bad one because it does uphold the rule of law in it’s governance. So ba bishop tell us who now is suppose to fight for the freedoms of these youths VJ Mwaanga and others are examples of the youths who were involved in the freedom struggle during the pre Independence era. Why should the youths of today not get involved?

  6. Aba ba Bishop bapuba baad…. it says that he actually paid a glowing tribute to ECL for what.?….. we will never know. A man of God should be forthright and truthful to the word of God. But alas, he could only pay tribute to ECL to make Chagwa happy. What about the innocent lives that have been lost in recent weeks….the problem is they all want to sound relevant and to be politically correct. Guys vote these scumbags out of office and warn these so called pastors and Bishops to focus on the church and their congregations. I’m tired of seeing clergymen used as ponies by ruling parties especially during elections. Flash all them people out and start afresh.

  7. Revolutions are usually started by the youth. Look at the Arab uprising. It was started by a youth who burnt himself alive due to frustration. The youths don’t need, you fossils to start a revolution, they are simply displeased with the way you are governing. Bishop Chanda is talking because he is eating with these criminals while the youth are still unemployed with a bleak future.

  8. Ma youths ma Youth learn to learn. The past must give us a lesson to change our future better. We have had so many violences since 2016 and who are involved?…..”its ba youth” against your brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles aunties and not big ‘fishs’ who are always safe.

Its my prayer that Let every youth value his/her ‘vote’ by not recieving any sum of money and neither fight nor do Violence when told by their leaders.
