Zesco United have bounced back from their disappointing ABSA Cup final loss to open an eight point lead at the top of the FAZ Super Division table.
Zesco today came from behind to edge visiting Red Arrows 2-1 in Ndola just four days after losing the ABSA Cup final to Lusaka Dynamos on penalties.
Arrows made a false start at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium when taking a lead in the first minute through Diarra Allassane.
International defender Adrian Chama ensured that the two teams went to the break with an even scoreline after converting a penalty awarded three minutes into first half added time.
Attacker Kelvin Mubanga scored the winner for Zesco ten minutes from time with a scorcher as his side moved to 49 points after playing 23 matches.
Zesco are eight points ahead of second placed Forest Rangers who have played 26 matches.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Lusaka Dynamos jumped four places up to number four after thrashing Prison Leopards 3-0.
Striker Emmanuel Chabula’s brace and another goal by Marvin Jere helped Dynamos to move to 37 points after playing 24 matches.
In other games, Indeni overcame Nkwazi 3-2 in Ndola and Young Green Eagles edged bottom side Kitwe United 1-0 in Kafue.
