Govt is harassing Sata – Kabanda

Share

Citizens Forum Executive Secretary Simon Kabanda

The Citizens Forum has accused government of harassing Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata following his summoning for questioning in Lusaka.

Last week the Drug Enforcement Commission summoned Sata over the $100,000 he is alleged to have given Change Life Zambia executive director Father Frank Bwalya.

Citizens Forum executive secretary, Simon Kabanda said allegations by the former PF general secretary, Edward Mumbi against Mr Sata that he gave the money to Fr Bwalya to de-campaign the MMD government amount to cheap propaganda and harassment against the PF leader.

Mr. Kabanda added that government’s quick reaction to Mr. Mumbi allegations against Mr. Sata only goes to show government’s injustices in applying the rule of law.

He said that the same government has dragged its feet in investigating how former republican president, Dr. Fredrick Chiluba obtained $8 million.

Mr. Kabanda explained that government has been quick to push the$ 100, 000 case against Mr. Sata but failed to pursue $8 million case of former president Chiluba with all the evidence available.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabanda has charged that the Drug Enforcement Commission is responsible for the violence that took place at their offices last week involving PF cadres.

He said blaming the cadres for the tear-gas is wrong and irresponsible because the DEC are the ones who alarmed the situation.

  1. Sata will expain the source of the $100.000. He has challenged Kafupi to explain where he got the $8 million

  2. # 1 don’t be foolish! Explain what? Just becoz Chiluba stole money doesn’t give rights for Satan to steal. Why are you supporting this pig.

  3. I am sure we’ll get the usual ragtag LT MMD zealots justifying the DEC actions, while brigands in the MMD like Chiluba continue to enjoy the protection of the government. Shameful!!

  4. Ba Chama, you can still make your point without insulting please. Calm down. This is a serious issue. Our country shouldn’t be destroyed because of a handful of people. Sense should prevail on both sides.

  5. @# 5 Some LT bloggers have been indoctrinated by the hogwash in the MMD which has severely impaired their mental faculties. As such it is not uncommon for us to be subjected to these emotional rantings from these mentally impaired MMD minions.

  6. #2 n #3 you are one sided and tunnel visioned person. the Behavour of the Govt to chase up Sata is an harasment from which ever angle you look at it. just beause you hate Sata doesnt not mean he is not to be treated as any other ordinary zambian. The issue at hand is all enforece by the MMD and not leaving DEC to investigate independently. The law has gone in wrong hands and now its a choice of who to persue. look at how Mpombo has being Humilited by the MMD, while u have MPs in the MMD that recentlyy bounced cheques and up to now nothing has being done. the 2Billion at Ministry of Health, what has come out of it, the Katele kalumba, still saving in Govt and believe me if he was iin opposition his seat(MP) would have being taken long time. open your eyes Chanda and see the problem and not

  7. @ Aussie Aussie! I think you also have no brains don’t just comment if you have no point. Every person pay tax it’s not only sata. What I said is that satan could have used that money to reduce poverty in zed but what did he do. Support fatherless bwalya. Opposition doesn’t mean you can’t take development to pipo. When you are in opposition you fight for good policy so that pipo can live a better life but what do we see in zed? Opposite!! Opposition just making noise without providing solution to problems faced by pipo.

  8. There is no point in calling people names, the truth is that DEC is a tool MMD is using to settle political scores which is not right! Even people in government are equally just making noise when it comes to development.Without creating jobs, poor health facilities, wastefulness (NCC) all this development will just be a song! We are all sinners ,effectively meaning that we all move with Satan…

  9. it is good that sata is undergoing such trauma.i hope archie mctribuoy was alive he would have been having his last laugh.

  10. I think we might be reading too much into this. When I went to Zambia on holiday a couple of months ago I was required by law to give update details for my personal bank account (which included source of income among others). So if the money donated was for PF the party, I can’t see any complication here, unless it was not utilized for purposes of the party.
This man has taken Finance bank to court, so they’re probably looking at ways to put his feet to the fire. As for Chiluba, two wrongs don’t make a right, much as we’d like to see him cough up the $8.5m.

  11. It is shocking how bold the people in power can be so biased. This is more reason why people have lost confidence with the the judiciary and law enforcement officers. #2 & 3 why not subject your opinion or compliant to the current and all aspiring presidential candidates.

  12. here there is no doubt that the DEC is a dull bootlicker of RB and the MMD -thieves. I pity the brave guys who are working under instructions..its hard for them to explain to their families and friends as to why they are applying the law so selectively..

I feel sad for my friends at DEC…. working against their principles….thats why I refused to work at DEC, coz it is so embaracing working like dog which obeys its master.

    Sad indeed.

They will never bring down Sata but instead they are campaigning for him.

  13. Chama Chakomboka; the guts you must have to call others brainless while you expose your lack of ability to reason beyond your own nose. You think that the single most effective way to eradicate poverty in a Zambia is by donating to the youth? I will have you know that whether you choose to continue to blindly support one party while being short sighted or whether you are simply a product of a failed education system, the fact will remain that policy change, responsible government and transparency will forever be the more effective ways to improve the quality of life afforded to Zambians in general.

  14. Chama Chakomboka

Only a fooll goes into politics to for ever remain in the opposition. All the “leaders” who have formed political parties, Cosmo Mumba and your name sake, Late Chama Chakomboka included, aspire(d) to one day go to State House. Otherwise, if not then they need their heads examined. I challenge anyone on the blog to name or point to me any sane sensible person who is politics as “an escort”, or just for the sake of adding to the numbers of politicians.

  15. Sata and any other aggrieved individuals should consider taking RB and his cronies to the International Court of Justice. Maybe all those despots abusing their powers just because they have been lucky to end up in State House could be put on some intelligent individually targetted sanctions and be restricted from international travel.

  16. # 14 since you refused working @ DEC where are working? Hope you are not a kaponya been used by your shikulu. # 18 so everyone who forms a party in zed wants to go to plot # 1 that is their agenda without even looking into ways of reducing poverty. That’s why we have political parties like churches which are formed not to serve the lord but to enrich emselves. Pipo in zed are afraid to call a spade a spade. Too many churches pastors stealing money in the name of give to the lord building marsion. People forming parties to go to plot # 1 so that they can steal. Satan stole the money just becoz Chiluba did the same.

  17. Chama Chakomboka

I do not argue with foolls who argue just for arguments sake. Why would someone form a political party, if it is not to get power and use that power to change policies, working attitudes, strategies, targets and ultimately improve the economy and alleviate poverty??

    Ubupuba muchefyeko

  18. Chama Chakomboka you are an *****!
Gentle the best we can do is “click on complain about comment” and after five complaints, LT will delete Chama’s comments which are not sensible. Does insulting make your point heard? No at all!

  19. # 24 don’t ask stupid question just post your comment so that we can see if you have brains in your head. PF supporters get up easily & like crying like their shikulu. Satan don’t talk about development but always suing people. So is that the kind of president do you want spend time in court. Am saying again your president could have used that $100000 to inpower kaponyas if he has a heart for young pipo.

  20. Chama Chakomboka,
It’s prevaliage that you sit on the computer and blog on important thing which in your opinion feels you can share. to the contrary, you seem to abuse this chance. From the look of things and my own analysis of you, i feel you have a serious brain bacteria which makes your memory lapsess hence lendering you having the memory like the house fly. Sorry for attracting such analysis for your self. So if you have nothing Shut up or jst appreciate the sense from your friends
