When Zambian citizens finally got fed up of UNIP rule; some intellectuals, labour leaders, the clergy, business executives, former government leaders and military generals, farmers, lawyers and students’ unions decided to cast aside their ideological differences and take on the hitherto dreaded post-independence liberation movement.
Under the auspices of Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) they would whip the masses into a frenzy with their colorful oratory proficiencies as they catalogued a litany of deficiencies of the UNIP regime. And when time to vote came, it would be a landslide victory for MMD which would effectively send the party that had broken loose the chains of captivity into near oblivion!
Of course making promises is one thing, and yet fulfilling them is another. Aghast at the opulence and lavish style of living by a clique of few individuals while the majority of people were wallowing in absolute poverty, citizens resolved enough is enough! After 21 years in power, the masses would flush MMD the red card! Former President Rupiah Banda would bid farewell at a somber ceremony, tears welling up in his eyes, as his predecessor eagerly waited in the wings to take up the throne…….and the rest as they say is history.
In a clear case of history repeating itself however; Michael Sata would die in office after three years at helm, paving way for Edgar Lungu to take over from him after fending off stiff competition from Hakainde Hichilema of UPND, although the latter would insist he was robbed of victory to this day.
Fast forward to 2021, it’s that time again when citizens have to decide who should steer the ship for the next 5 years. There’s no need to pretend, the stakes are high for PF as the atmosphere favours main opposition UPND – shrinking democratic space, soaring rate of unemployment, high cost of living, and unfair dismissal or transfer of those perceived to be sympathizers of the opposition UPND.
What has happened for all these individuals to have a sudden change of heart? You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to read through their schemes. These are nothing but a bunch of desperate individuals clutching at the straws for survival! Whereas one of them suffered the misfortune of delivering a still-born political party, the other had numerous court cases pending against him threatening to send him to prison! Lest our memory fails us, we ought to be mindful that another one of these once had a thriving sausage business that unfortunately crumbled due to poor management, while the other one had numerous trucks marooned in South Africa because he couldn’t secure government contracts.
Should the nation allow these individuals to get away with this hocus pocus…….to hoodwink the public that they mean well when they’re actually in it for personal gain? Just as the nation had stood up and unanimously resolved to say ‘ZWA’ to UNIP; it would be imperative for the UPND Alliance to summon the help of retired eminent individuals to save the nation from total collapse before it’s too late!
Wherever the following statesmen may be enjoying their retirement, they’ve to be found and roped into the alliance pronto:
Former Vice President Guy Scot, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu, Brigadier Gen Godfrey Miyanda, Bishop John Mambo, Simon Zukas, Gen Malimba Masheke, Newstead Zimba, Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika, Dr. Ludwig Sondashi, Rodger Chongwe, Vernon Johnson Mwaanga, Leslie Mbula, Linda Kasonde, John Sangwa, Rev. Stan Kristafor, Brebner Changala, Panji Kaunda, Jonas Shakafuswa, Dr. Machungwa, Chembe Nyalugwe, George Mpombo, Enock Kavindele, and Sishuwa Sishuwa! Imagine all these forces standing up and uniting for the good of our nation, not anyone including ECZ or the police can dare frustrate the efforts.
And once victory is secured, there would need to form a government of national unity which would immediately get to work and ‘sanitize’ our land of all evils – corruption and plunder of government resources, control of markets and bus stations by cadres, unfair distribution national resources and the unbearable cost of living.
Rubbish! Alebwelelapo ECL. Zwaaa Under 5.
There is only one Option for Zambians and that is to vote out the Violent, Corrupt, Wasteful, incompetent and Visionless ECL and PF Govt out of Power. In its place we need to elect HH and UPND Alliance Govt. That will give us the Govt we want. Just imagine 5 more years of PF Corruption, Mismanagement, PF Cadre Violence and Lawlessness. The Economy will implode and our lives ruined. PF Cadres, Militias, Vigilantes, Commanders and Generals will be fighting for Control and Money and our human rights and freedoms will be taken away. Zambians need to liberate themselves from ECL and PF Dictatorship. Vote HH and UPND Alliance for Peace,Stability and devt. HH aka Bally will fix it.
On top of those desperate politicians alluded to, there are thousands of unemployed violent PF cader thugs on the PF payrol of GRZ free money and another group who’s payment is through extorting and blackmailing the public who they are allowed to hold at their mercy in public spaces like markets and bus stops…….
These undesirables are pure leeches and have no benefit to the people of zambia and will be a problem for the new GRZ.
Hahahahaha this article has made me laugh. So this fayke political analyst is simply saying that they need over 30 leaders to beat one ECL. Ecl mukali. In other words this man is saying hh is not man enough and that he is losing in August. Hh has very small balls
Ma rubbish ….u even want dead and
expired people to rule.kiikiki
When I see the photo with HH and his friends looking totally forlorn, I fear the WORST for August 12! Those EXPIRED politicians are supposed to save the country? Edgar China Lungu is only bringing more disaster, but UPND? May the Lord help us!
The author is stupid and shortsighted how on earth do you talk about unemployment! Really Unemployment is nation had 233 parastatal companies which chiluba and friends sold of course not forgetting the fake consultant who enriched himself today upnd and hh have the guts to talk about unemployment…today the State only has 28 parastatal companies this is the more reason why the government is encouraging people to become entrepreneurs because companies were sold..These are not elections you vote out of emotion you need to think…and please beware of conman who said when you swear him at 10hrs but the time it’s 14hrs the kwacha will appreciate against the dollar it’s homosexual dollars coming…Iam not going to behave like Esau who sold his birthright for a bow of stew.
We all know that upnd is sponsored by a network that supports homosexuality..so careful
With this sort of nonsense they believe they are ready to form government? HH has reduced this party to a pile of rubble. I think HH will be more desperate than usual this time round. Deep down he knows it’s now or never but what Zambia desperately needs right now is a change of direction not more of the same or worse.
The people you are mentioning are the vulnerable to Covid 19. You want to kill them too? Let them spend their time last days in peace.
As of now, anybody or any party is better than the hapless lungu and PF……..
There ain’t anybody who can perform worse than lungu……..
All the PF rats have to point at is infrastructure development using borrowed money that they have even failed to payback , what they don’t say is anybody can do that……..And do a better job than these theives by boosting employment and exports…..
Even my grade 9 garden worker can build those things with borrowed money, especially if you tell him he can default payments
Don’t put General Miyanda in senseless schemes. General Miyanda is too smart to be involved with a Freemason Cayman Island swindler. In 2006 he had the support of KK in the UDA but he failed lamentably. Who told you that retired eminent persons have no brains? They know that the Mwene Mutapa isn’t good for the country, that’s why they’re quiet. If he can’t win elections on his own then not even an alliance will bring victory. He’s a failure
Good proposal BUT I JUST WONDER WHY FOR QUITE SOME TIME THE INDIVIDUALS YOU HAVE MENTIONED HAVE ACTED IN ISOLATION PULLING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS BUT FOR THE COMMON CAUSE?! For example Simon Zukas and Arch Bishop Mpundu and other good standing political veterans had formed the National Organisation for Civic Education (NOCE) whose interests were to ensure protection of democracy. BUT WE HARDLY HEAR OF THEM IN THE MIDST OF ALL INTIMIDATION AND POOR GOVERNANCE FROM PF!! Now it is campaign time, it is very difficult to align forces especially with this Covid -19 situation where in fact some of the persons mentioned in this article have already succumbed to the scourge!!

He who feels it knows it, We are all in one crucible called zambia and it should take individual conviction to rise up and be on the right side of history.
Which alliance partners I only see pf vomits
@2 Chola the so called bally can not fix anything because he does not understand how government functions..it’s like giving a person a car who has no idea of how to drive..
Even from the grave ka? Newstead Zimba?
@ Spaka government has not failed to pay this is the more reason why government has taken back KCM and Mopeni mines to build a financial base the problem with you,you want things instantly
This is not a battle for HH. It’s a battle between the pf/Ecl against the people of Zambia.
Guess who will cry!!!!
” Should the nation allow… [Hakainde Hichilema]….to hoodwink the public that [he] means well when [he is] actually in it for personal gain?” Remember the privatisation scandal? Your “Royal Highness Prince B M Kapinga, your dream team of yesterday’s people is Trumpian alright!!!!
Empty talk no substance just blah blah….and not a perfect time mentioning UNIP….have some respect for the dead first UNIP leader…anyway Zambians will retire you this August
THEY ARE NOT NEEDED SO LET PF HAVE THEM
WE ONLY WANT THE PEOPLE ON THE GROUND TO VOTE FOR CHANGE
HALF THE NAMES ABOVE ARE VERY SUSPECT TO SAY THE LEAST
ALREADY OPPOSITION IS AHEAD WHY ELSE IS THE GOVERNMENT PLAYING DIRTY POLITICS
AUGUST FOR SURE WILL BE A NEW DAWN FOR ZAMBIA VIVA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH AND THE POLL STILL SHOWS PF BEHIND BY 4.2% Points

“@ Spaka government has not failed to pay this is the more reason why government has taken back KCM and Mopeni mines to build a financial base the problem with you,you want things instantly….”
After $20 billions in debt and a default while running to the IMF with tails between legs for a bailout , does that look like not having failed to payback the debt ?
Lungu and his thieving gang are so desperate for money , they have exhausted all loan sharks , they looked at selling the game parks but we put a stop to that, now they have resorted to wanting to mine in game parks…….
They have grabbed what mines they could to fund their re elections and hoodwinked Zambians that it is in the countries intrest that they grabbed the mines……but will never show financial figures ….
I hear someone sensing defeat. Why ask the late Newstead Zimba to help win an election. I also take note that the author is desperate and forget that Guy Scott was on HH side but lungu managed to send them to dustbin. The economy is bad and we accept, but the desired change is not now. Why? When their is hunger in the house, divorce is not a solution. All the people mentioned in the article are already upnd, except for miyanda. But come August, muzamuziba yesu baba. I see upnd at the court asking for votes.
Why should you think for Zambians as who they should replace PF with? Suppose Zambians want Madam Kateka of Heritage Party or the Socialist party or Andyford Banda. Please removing PF does not mean replacing them with UPND. Is UPND the only opposition party? Madam Kateka and Andyford Banda respectively are leaders of substance who have demonstrated good leadership in the corporate world and either of them would make a good president. When writing articles of this nature in a country where you have more than one opposition party neutrality is critical even if you have some interest. The best is to profile the opposition parties and make a strong case for your preference. Just like it was when MMD was removed, a new party took over, it can happen again.
