PF accuse UPND of abrogating the peace accord which the two parties signed

RULING Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Hon Davies Mwila has accused the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) of abrogating the peace accord which the two parties signed ahead of the August 12 General Elections.

Hon Mwila has also challenged the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and some named Electoral Observers to come out and condemn the violence that was being perpetrated by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his campaign team.

Speaking when he toured and held campaign meetings in the various wards of Mandevu Constituency in Lusaka, Hon Mwila said Mr. Hichilema had never condemned violence publicly which was a source of concern to the signed peace accord and the electoral process.

He said that the PF have still maintained their commitment to holding violence free campaigns of substance but would do everything possible to protect it’s members and property.

“We have made a commitment as a party that our campaigns are going to be issue based with no violence and we will still abide by that but we will not allow our members to continue being butchered and property damaged by the opposition,” Hon Mwila said.

He said that the UPND had resorted to engaging in violent campaigns to scare the electorates on the ground because they know that they were losing again on August 12.

The PF CEO has since directed the party structures on the ground to remain alert and ensure that their offices are protected from malicious damage by the violent opposition which was doing everything to deter the ruling party from campaigning on the ground.

He said President Edgar Chagwa Lungu had sent him to go and visit the electorates in the wards because he believed that was were votes are won.

“So I am doing door to door campaigns and we are happy with the progress made so far,” he said.

Hon Mwila has also advised the electorates on the ground to go out in large numbers and vote for President Lungu and other PF candidates on August 12.

He has urged them not to relent when they find long queues at polling stations because the rewards would be fulfilling.

The PF CEO has since assured the electorates that more party regalia would be delivered to them through their adopted Councillors in due course to boost their campaign activities.

Speaking at the same event, Member of the Central Committee (MCC) Hon Anne Kayula urged the electorates in Mandevu who had gathered to welcome Hon Mwila and his entourage to vote for President Lungu in large numbers because Mandevu along with Kanyama are known for producing the highest number of votes for the PF in Zambia.

And PF Lusaka Province Chairman Kennedy Kamba has promised to work with the all party structures in Mandevu so that they delivered maximum votes for President Lungu and the party on August 12.

Also in attendance was PF Mandevu aspiring Member of Parliament Hon Christopher Shakafuswa, PF aspiring Mayor for Lusaka Chilando Chitangala and all aspiring Councillors from the wards in Mandevu amd former PF Lusaka Province Chairman Paul Monga among others.

  1. That was predictable. PF is using excuses to use Violence to rig the Election and hopefully retain Power. Its not a Secret that under the Current Macroeconomic conditions in Zambia ECL and PF cannot win free, fair, credible and peaceful Elections. They are now going to try and Rig the Elections using PF Cadres and Militia Groups. The writing is on the wall.

  3. @TheEngineer,
Do not underestimate tu PF yet, its Roadshow Vs Working visits, which one is much effective is too early to judge.
May the best candidate win without these noises and without people butchering themselves, there is no need. People just need to ask the right questions. Has PF fulfilled its promises since the last elections? Employment(more jobs), Poverty level, Low Taxes, Corruption level, the list goes on, but above all, each person need to ask themselves, has their family lives been improved since the last elections? If the answer is “resounding NO”, then one has to ask himself, if this did not happen in last 6years what is the garantee that will improve under PF? Can you give a chance to someone else- The alliance?

  4. Ba PF, complaining almost everyday 🙂

  5. PF know exactly the game being played.UPND wants the PF to retaliate so that violence escalates and that will be evidence enough to nullify the elections the way it happened in Malawi so the best is to encourage its members not to fight back so that the elections are fairly free of hightened tension. When you know you’re winning why engage in violence so the party that’s engaged in violence knows its losing so the only way is cause violence. Way to go SG soon it will be done deal.

While PF is KILLING people? Forgot about the shot and killed innocent citizens from two months ago??? PF: Lying about everything, not delivering anything! August 12: vote PF out!

  8. Why are all these PF characters being called “honourable”?

Parliament has been disbanded so they can’t be “hon” on grounds of holding an elected position. Most I’m sure would have a hard time to say what true “honour” is even if came and bit them in the leg… so you mean honour is something different from me being entitled to boss and take and do whatever I want? Imagine that.

  9. This is where Inspector General Kankanja should come in to sort out the perpetrators of violence, not stopping people from distributing face masks

  10. PF Secretary General Davis Mwila is now smiling jail. What he told cabinet ministers and PF MPs that they will go to prison if they don’t work hard to win the 2021 general elections is now a matter of weeks.
Speaking during the Luapula Province party mobilisation launch which was broadcast on Prime TV, Mwila said Luapula Province should save ministers and members of parliament from going to prison.
“Here in Luapula, we have a lot of support. We have 100 per cent support, but you bring five constituencies with 90,000 votes. Our friends (UPND) one constituency is 90,000 even if it’s in the village. Why are you not voting? That is why I am telling you that if you play, you will cry,” Mwila said.
“… All the cells will be full. All these people you see behind me will be in cells. Abena…

  11. Those suggesting that PF is behaving like an opposition party have made a very good observation and it could be that the PF is gearing itself to being a formidable actor in opposition.
