President Elect Hakainde Hichilema managed to secure 59% of the vote in the August 12th general election with President Edgar Lungu trailing in distant second with 39%.
This is according to the final tally of the votes in all the 156 constituencies released by the Electoral Commission of Zambia yesterday after finishing counting the remaining Mandevu Constituency.
Mr Hichilema amassed 2,852,348 votes President Lungu was trailing with 1,870,780 votes.
According to ECZ records, this is the biggest electoral victory marging since 1996.
This is also the highest voter turnout since 2006 standing at 72.41%.
The UPND has managed to secure 81 seats with the PF getting 63 seats with 10 independents and 1 seat for the opposition PNUP.
A total comprehensive route of a corrupt thieving MU7 wannabe………..
Even his rigging would not work………
There is a bill running in millions for lungus campaign, GRZ paid…….the Zambian tax payers paid…..
We want that money back……either PF or lungu must cough up…..
This is a very good balanced parliament. UPND will not have enough numbers to mess about with the constitution the way Chiluba did in 1996. However, they still have a majority to pass their own laws.
So MMD has no MP and why is Nevers Mumba still in Politics????? A former ruling party so with Zero MP just like UNIP
Lungus immunity needs to be lifted and he needs to be prosecuted as a lesson to other wannabe dictators……
least we forget and a worse one asurps power and abuses the country…….
That is democracy. There is nothing sinister with UPND winning. Edgar beat HH 2 times before. This time around HH won. That is democracy. Final scores will remain Edgar 2; HH 1.
Now it’s time to allow HH do his work. Judgement will come again in 5 years time. His winning again will depend on what he does or does not do in the next 5 years. It’s now time to work.
so 4 milion people are still at large ?
Hello Citizens and PF plus independents!
Make sure you walk out in the same way UPND MPs behaved. HH never wished Edgar any good and he refused to recognize him as head of state. Chawamina galu chawamina mbuzi. Teach HH a lesson to respect others too because he won’t learn if you allow him to ride freely.

Let him win because a different result would have plunged our country in chaos. Thanks to God Almighty.
HH will do a very good work in his tenure.
Mark my words please. The kwacha is already performing even before he is inaugurated.
When he comes into office, all those cadres will/should be a thing of the past.
? of 156 = (0.067 × 156) = 104
That is the third majority of lawmakers required to pass a bill in Parliament.
Independents MP’s can swing to the Right, but not so easy with the PF. Do we go for bye elections or PF wont expel their members? Only time knows the modus operandi to be used to get required parley numbers.

That was a tough whooping for Lungu by 20 percentage points.

It’s amazing how people steal play tribal card.
This was despite poor registration in the South and West. It could have been worse.
Davies Mwila says the Election was fraudulent and not free and fair. If so why is ECL Petitioning the Election Results at Concourt? ECL and PF tried to rig the Elections but the Margin of 20% was just too wide. Zambians rejected ECL’s Leadership and Lungu had no choice but concede defeat. The result is historical. An Opposition Leader defeating an incumbent President with a 59% landslide victory. Congratulations to HH,MN and People of Zambia on this sweet Victory.
Hello
Did you know 50% of HH votes came from only three provinces. The citizens need to ask is One Zambia One Nation spread evenly across the country. The Chiefs in Southern Province calling for an end on ” Tribal Issues” . Are they being genuine, sincere looking at the just ended elections. Pretending as though there is no problem is like keeping a cobra in your bedroom and pretending its not harmful. Check the results shown in map form of the elections results at ECZ and it will tell you how divided we are now. It should not be only when one is in office that support is needed from the rest of the country ..The three provinces should learn from other provinces and if they did not behave that way, a rerun would have occurred thereby qualifying to be a free and fair elections even more…
Musa!
Sorry not say I don’t share your view. Mature people move on if peace has to continue. God knows how to save his people because many would have died if UPND had lost. Now HH is leader and let’s see where he takes the country. It’s a wait and see.

We made it clear that Edgar Chagwa Lungu would be knocked out first round but our friends spent most of heir time cheering their humble leader instead of listening to peoples’ cries. The rest is history or water under the bridge. For now lest all rally behind Bally as he settles down to work.
