FIRST Republican president Kenneth Kaunda has called on the people agitating for the separation of Western Province from the rest of Zambia to immediately stop their activities because their calls do not have a place in Zambia.
Dr Kaunda, the man who appended his signature with the Litunga Mwanawina Lewanika to give birth to Zambia described the activities of the Barotseland secession advocates as wrong and hoped they could stop the actions.
He said he was impressed with the position taken by the Litunga, through the spokesperson of the Baroste Royal Establishment (BRE) Oliver Saasa, to reject such activities and stop further confusion in the province.
In an interview at his office in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Kaunda said he was optimistic that the people behind the confusion would come to their senses and withdraw their intentions to concentrate on building unity anchored on the ideals of ‘One Zambia One Nation’.
Dr Kaunda said steps should be summoned to ensure that the confusion was stopped with utmost speed because Zambia had been built over a long time on the principles of love and unity.
“I am very sure they will get out of that feeling very soon and follow the advice of the Litunga who has spoken through Professor Oliver Saasa. He is a key member of the Barotse Royal Establishment, so they must just follow his advice,” Dr Kaunda said.
Dr Kaunda said Zambia should continue enjoying peace and the fruits of a unitary State which helped fight colonial oppression even across borders to demonstrate how peaceful Zambia was.
He said he was available to offer advice, counsel and direction to anyone including the people of Western Province for them to understand how Zambia was born and the need to continue protecting its existence.
The former president said even though the Government had not approached him for such advice, he was certain there was capacity in the Government to handle the matter and rest it.
He said when he was released from jail on January 7, 1960, he selected a white piece of cloth as a symbol of peace for himself and the entire nation, which was the reason he would never abandon it.
Secessionists in Western Province have lately involved themselves in covert meetings and other activities to press for the separation of the region from the rest of Zambia.
Police quelled a meeting called for January 14 this year and violent confusion ensued in which two people died and 131 were arrested and brought to Lusaka for further instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The BRE has said no statement would be issued on the recent fracas over the 1964 Barotseland Agreement in Mongu, but would do so at an appropriate time.
Induna Namuyamba said in a telephone interview from Mongu that at the moment, the Kuta (royal council) was not ready to issue any statement.
“We shall not issue a statement today but at an appropriate time when we are ready,” he said.
The Ngambela (prime minister) refused to comment on the matter, referring all queries to Induna Namuyamba who he said was the chairperson of the sub-committee on what was happening in the province.
Inspector-General of Police Francis Kabonde on Tuesday evening said the police would charge those arrested after consent had been sought from the DPP.

where is Bishop Duffy?
Explicitly Sata has been told.
Its a shame that an aspiring candidate such as Michael Sata despite his ignorance about the struggle for this country’s independence can become this reckless proponents of secession, arson and insurrection against a unitary state. No wonder he is courting pervasive outlaws like self embattled dressed “Bishop” Edward Chomba wanted in the USA as his PF Parliamentary candidate for kankoyo.
Dr.Kaunda, the issue there is poverty not secession as such. President Banda said he was discussing with the BRE, but people are not told the results of the discussions. Sir, you did not build any institute of higher learning there, neither did you leave behind an industry thus creating a migrant labour and increasing extreme poverty in the area. Are you happy to see the young men sweep your lawns or work as guards? The only Teacher’s College there was built by the Catholics. People asked for permission to talk but were instead denied and now treasoned. Do you like it this way? Is this One Zambia One Nation?
Sata’s pro secessionist unpatriotism is perpetuated by his protruding ignorance and loyalty to his erstwhile colonial masters he served as a cook while opposing and reporting on our pro-independence chachacha freedom fighters. His loyalty is always to his masters.
KENNETH KAUNDA SOSA SOSA CALO CHILEKUNFWA. THE MAN HAS SPOKEN AND THATS IT THATS THE POSITION OF THAT DOCUMENT YOU HAVE HEARD IT FROM THE HORSES’ MOUTH. I WILL NOT DEBATE FURTHER WHO AM I TO GO AGAINST THE MAN KK WHO SIGNED THE AGREEMENT
Senior Citizen 4//
If MMD does not get to the root of the matter here there is a likelihood that opposition will get the Barotseland favour. Its easy to dialogue with the BRE but the question still remains, as to what extent the people are consulted? Remember, its not the BRE which votes, but the people. The voters are the ones being sent to prison for asking for an ear to be heard. The ones who must be treasoned after a long time denied request for dialogue. It just does not make sense.
Is the old man guity? If the media has the story right, Kaunda signed an agreement with the Litunga in 1964, and the agreement still exist as a legal document. so the best way to end this non-sense in western province is to revisit the agreement (which according to Mr Bwezan Banda, was done in 1964, really?), and honor it or nullify it as appropriate (not killing innocent youths the way Alabee is doing). Jst asking protesters to ‘STOP’ is not sufficient, you signed the document sir, there are legal complications attached to it! And its a pity that opposition politica leaders are taking advantage of the situation to earn some votes, what a sheme and greedy!
#4 lol, walasa that is the point KK is not realising. #3 you missed the point, how do you account for kaingu? is he PF? you just hate sata, attack the argument not the person. Why KK has he kept so long just to utter wobbly when things are already sour? check you advisor KK, you are old for nothing. #4 keep it high lol.
# 8 Anti-Politics . Well said. This man should not just say STOP. He must give reasons. Infact he is the one who signed this agreement hence responsible. Let him go to western province and resolve this confusion.
Kaka 9//
If you remember correctly this is the old man who appointed the late Litunga Ilute Yeta as MCC and asked him to report for work every day. This is the old man who questioned the wisdom in kushowelela. This is the old man who wanted to rule Zambia forever. This is the man during whose time many intelligent Zambians just disappeared. The man who built holes underground using tax payer’s money (which Chiluba exposed). The man who made us choose between a frog and himself. He led from the front and ignored his base which he called it stupid diots. Many things we still remember about this man.
Some Zambians call him father of the nation for One Zambia One Nation slogan and ignore tha One Nationa One Leader, and that Leader Himself. The Person that signed the Barotseland Agreement 1964 and first one to abrogate it. I can write a full book about how this man destroyed the Barotseland heritage. Anyway God knows what to do with him.
kaunda, you made the BRE succumb through threats and intimidation by employing your mad dogs the Winas. Is that what you call peace? its also inferior to believe that White is superior to Black. Your Hanky i mean:
i think ba KK needs to explain himself further, he is saying nothing in this article
Viva Africa#11 & Kaka#9//
Well placed opinions, thumbs up gentlemen: if the national cake was well distributed the secession issue wouldn’t be their. Period….i would suggest super Kenny to go to western province & calm the situation because he was the one involve and not talking about the white cloth, wat has the white cloth got to do with BRE agreement…..please senior kaponya#3 dont talk abt sata….talk abt the issue at hand & i think kaingu is better than alabee & kenny.
The thirsty 4 power by kaunda caused this problem he manipulated things to suit his hunger for power. Kaunda at one point thought he and his family were ordained by god to rule this country for ever. he changed the constitution when he was fully aware of the clause in the agreement which prevented GRZ from enacting laws that are contrary to the provision of the agreement to pave way for treason that they charging people with now. Kaunda could not understand why the people respected chiefs like the litunga, mpezeni,Chitimukulu, kazembe etc than him. Chiefs posed a threat to his authority he admired the dancing of local for chiefs and transformed it into a culture of dancing for presidents at airports as we see it today. We can not afford to divide this country into two after being a country…
continued from 16.We can not afford to divide this country into two after being a country for 46 years . there shouldn’t have been any problem in honouring the provisions of the agreement as it bordered on decentralisation or power sharing which Kaunda did not want. The only thing we want Kaunda to explain are:1. why were they required to sign an agreement was it necessary? 2. why didn’t he honour the agreement which he found necessary then prior to independence.3.How did he convince the litunga after 13 months of protracted negotiations what did he offer which motivated the litunga to sign. Kaunda’s selfishness has led to what is happening now deep down his heart he is guilty and he knows it.
Reality is fast catching up with super ken? This old statesman has kept quiet all along amid eminent crisis with repercusions which could be too catastrophic to even contemplate. Now he is coming out of his hole just to yap yap like a vulture. OLD MAN you should offer solutions not hybernating in the hope that things will sort themselves out, they will not. Explain to us what exactly happened, if there is nothing to hide then you better open up for everyone to see.
KK what did you sign ? Gone are the days when you used to issue statement , You should tell out what happened ! UNIP yaliya Kudala
Kaunda is right. Anyway the secession is just out of adventurism’s sake. What would Western Province on its own achieve? It would be like Lesotho; perpetually depending on South Africa when it could have benefitted more from joining up with South Africa. The Sotho are actually right now actively pursuing a merger with South Africa.
I for one do not have any respect for this man and his at it again, he’s a traitor and wants to play down the damage caused by his actions. He oppressed those who spoke about the BA64 he is still not talking about it. What kind of peace is it when people are suffering, some go without 3 meals a day, you see children as young as 9 carrying their sibblings on their backs yet you call this peace. Please old stateman be realistic you had the chance to develop Zambia but for selfish reasons you didn’t. We the people of Zambia got reed of you because you failed us, the sight of you makes me sick.
People, this man knows what it means to have a divided nation. At this point, am against anything that seems to take away my freedom whether signed by unknown or not. Peace superceeds it all. Forget about those agreements and advocate for equal developmental projects in all the provinces if at all it can be achieved. I would have been happy if the talk was representative of all other undeveloped areas. Now it’s just western, forget the special treatments u were promised and move on as a nation. Otherwise, we will tell all lozis to go back to the land.
I think Dr Kaunda has lost his marbles, so sad indeed. Which peace & fruits of a unitary State is he claiming we should continue enjoying when people are now living in abject poverty while their government seems hell bent of corruption, embracing plunderers, useless & costly foreign trips etc, vices that are further eroding our quality of life? Yes unity helped fight colonial oppression but should this be the same tool for embracing corruption, recycling of plunderes, killing of innocent unarmed demostrators? If this is his idea of how peaceful Zambia is, KK can go hang. He caused all these problems because of his demagoguery & if he has nothing to say he should just shut up. Musiyaleni 4 Malozi!
I have read the document myself. I do not see any item contentious threin. Can the people simply state which parts of the agreement is being abrogated instead of just saying there is a ducument. There is a document yes but what parts is The Zambian Government failing to hnour? We would like to support on merit on support because I am Lozi, Tonga or what ever tribe.
# 20, Who told you that we are pursuing a merger with South Africa you i.dio.t? Les?th? fatše la bo ntat’a r?na, harena lintoa le matšoenyeho like your damned failing patchwork called Zambia. We existed even long before South Africa and how dare you lie that we would like to merge with them! As for your KK, I have never seen such a hypocrite as that man, now I am not sorry Chiluba squeezed him.
#11 The problem with this issue shouldn’t just end up at people saying stop it! I think the big man should have gone further by promoting dialogue so that there is proper debate. I will not do for the big man to end on that for this matter will be coming up each time there is NCC and Elections.
Thanks u KK for speaking to the media. Why are u people basing the argument on the reason why Western province is undeveloped? Even in Luapula only mission schools and hospitals are doing well since 1964. And a few pio like GBM have improved the province. Westerners don’t solemly depend on government ask your MPs and Minister to develop your area even as u wait for those government projects now taking place in your area.
The wise have seen and continue to. It will only take one wise Zambian president. Mwanawasa was the closest.
Please, please, forgive KK, at the time he signed he was too overwhelmed and excited by the prospects of being prime minister and did not digest the contents of the documents. His white handkerchief makes me jittery because of his ruthlessness.
#12 I think you have a point on some issues you have written, may I suggest to you that you write a full book on that. It can be a best selling book of 2011 because some of us where quite young during his tenure of office and thought that queing for a bus was normal. The list is endless.
1964??This is now 2011 where were you all this past years?I know most of the lozis who are very
very successfull and are permanently established them selves in other provinces. Can they support these
useless Barotse secession calls?far from it.No wonder Kaunda used sing the Tiyende Pamodzi Song at
his meetings.
Dokota Kaunda eeeeh! Sosa, sosa, ichalo chobe chilekumfwa! Kumulu, Lesa, panshi, Kaunda nama Kwacha nama ngwee! Waikatako wapya, uwaiketeko alipile, uukekatako, akapya!
Though you have broken your silence on the BA64, oldman you haven’t divulged the core contents that are making our friends:
1. Agitate for secession
2. Feel like they are the only ones wallowing in abject poverty
3. Believe that their province is not as developed as the rest of Zambia.
4. They they are the most marginalised within the borders of Zambia to which they have been forced to belong for almost 46 years now!
Can I get expnantions to the points above before more lives are lost? God help us.
Zambia is shyt, country full of lazy hypocrites and selfish leaders, this country will never see development. People like KK and Chiluba should be apologizing for the contribution they made to the underdevelopment of this nation. It’s funny we have leaders like RB and Sata who boast for doing ABCD,it’s your damn job and you used tax payers money,or worse still donated money…what a shame to see human being this low, primitive suckers!!!!
Devolution of power in all the provinces to local authority is what all well meaning Zambians must be asking for.Furthermore our national cake must be shared equally without any need for greed. The fight for development must not toll a tribal line.Yes Western Province and Luapula Province seem to strike me as the very least developed. But just like most Zambians who live in abject povert I see no need for anyone to ride on this so that they can take away any portion of our country and hope that they will run it better alone.WE NEED UNITY OF PURPOSE AND DRIVE OUR NATION FORWARD
30 MODUS OPERANDI
Dear you have point. I wonder why the old man is not on the list of Africa’s dictators.
31 Kina malozi // Check it out, if you want to Tiyende Pamodzi seek to win people’s hearts not eat out the foundation of the nation you seek to build. The Barotseland Agreement is Zambia’s foundation which KK himself started eating like vitumbuwa in a plastic carrier bag, constitution after constitution. Destroying the Barotseland Heritage will not help. Pipo want services to be delivered period. Barosteland children need Universities and Colleges they do not have to come to Lusaka to learn skills that can be provided cost effectively home.
KK ..tell us why do you think these people are calling for secession?do they misunderstand the BA64..what is your interpretation of it?
Kaunda should not be intimidative as he was when he was ruling this country. He should explain why Barotse Agreement was called an agreement? It is like the agreement between PF and UPND which everyone is observing and later on one party to the agreement abrogates the rules. It is like Litunga Mwanawina was intimidated to sign an agreement through intimadatory tack-ticks by super Ken.Everyone knows who super Ken was, when it came to instil fear in his fellow human being. He regarded himself as a demigod. He had no regard for his fellow human being. He needs to explain why an agreement which he signed with Litunga was abrogated and not shutting up people. An agreement must be honoured by parties who signs it.Let him come out in the open and explain what he agreed with Litunga.Did Litunga sign the…
Tell the Nation made you sign the BA.
#35 Thanks man you have truly contributed to the core of this subject. One thing we have identified here is that the greed of power to rule has been the biggest contributor to the implementation of the BA64. I think from the way the big man has responded it is clear that it will remain a pipe dream to understand what these people signed for. It’s like no one at the time explained in great detail as the result they came back with the document which is haunting the generations. It is sad a meeting on the reconcialition between those who signed has failed to take place.
KK is alive today and the best he can do is make this issue to rest if it has to and I think that it is now bigger than I thought. Even bigger that HIV/AIDS which somebody can take even ARV’s. Before there is room for people to hate each other and people die they should make it a priority that it is discussed at length.
#29 U r a man! I like yo caribre.Viva viva 4 motha z
No 22, you are very stupid. He who is sick is the one that goes to the toilet. The other provinces are confortable, thats why they are not talking. Each person runs there own home, no body runs another persons home.So please, get real.Pipo that want development must ask for it.If they dont ask for it ,they wont get it.
Super Ken, with all due respect pls shut up if you don’t have anything sensible to contribute! You signed that document yet you don’t have the guts to explain why you revoked the agreement 2yrs later via an act of parliament? Pls explain issues in great detail so we can all let it rest. As for my brothers in Barotseland, BA64 is no longer a valid legal document; if you need answers, pls summon super Ken.
I FIND IT HARD TO COMPREHEND THAT A MAN OF KK’S CALIBRE CAN FAIL TO ADDRESS THE CORE OF SUCH A SERIOUS MATTER. I HAVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU DR.KK
1. WHY DID U ABROGATE THE BAROTSE AGREEMENT SOON AFTER APPENDING YOUR SIGNATURE TO IT?
2. WHY DURING 27 YEARS AS PRESIDENT DID U NOT BUILD ANY SCHOOL OR COLLEGE OR INDUSTRY/ INFRASTRUCTURE IN BAROTSELAND? THERE’S ONLY 1 ROAD IN BAROTSELAND!!! MONGU-LSK RD.
3. DO YOU THINK A HUNGRY/ANGRY BAROTSE MAN CAN TODAY STILL FEED YOUR “ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION, (ONE NATION, ONE LEADER. AND THAT LEADER? (DR.KK FOREVER…..ETC)” SLOGANS? EVEN YOUR 1 EGG A DAY LIE FAILED TO LAST LONG AMONG YOUR OWN PEOPLE
4. WHERE IS THE £78MILLION YOU GRABBED FROM BAROTSELAND AFTER INDEPENDENCE? WHY DIDNT YOU IN YOUR WISDOM SPEND A SINGLE CENT OF THIS MONEY ON…
the issue of seccession may look like a joking and a passing matter and yet it is not. I am only hoping e Dr. Kaunda is not just hoping that this issue will die off like it has been over all the other years. We have however, great opportunities to address this matter in a way that we emerge stronger as a unitary state. However, rubishing each each other and expecting that things will just cool off is the worst mistake. One thing to note is that neither kaunda nor the Litunga own these two states that joined to become more, but the people do. Suffice to note that the issue of seccessions is brewing in many countries among them Zimbabwe’s Mthwakazi (ndebele speaking province); Consamance in south of senegal, Cabinda north of Angola. I only hope we will wisen up and dialogue and move on.
KK is partly to blame for problems in Western province. he never develloped it. he left the province slide backwards. he is to blame together with FTJ and to some extent the late levy. I wonder why all the past presidents have neglected western province. I dont hail from there but also the Litunga has never pushed for developmental agenda apart from being a sell out. Lozi rise up against the Litunga and do not listen to people like Sikota Wina. They also contributed. I’m mindful that all provinces need to develop but Western province has lagged far behind.
foolish old man. The problems we are seeing our country had he not been selfish we wouldn’t have had them. It is because of his selfishness that we ended up with that thief from the copperbelt as presido. And because of his dishonesty, there was a systematic ommission of the BA in school syllabus, how do you explain that. If indeed, Zambia came about through the merger of barotseland and northern rhodesia yet when we where at school we had no mention in our history books. KK, you should be greatful, liar.
Being a black man, why did KK not adopt a black piece of cloth as a symbol of peace for himself and the entire nation? And when adopting this evil piece of cloth of his, who did he consult in Zambia for it to be a national symbol now? And I wonder what he means by saying, and quote: “steps should be summoned to ensure that the confusion was stopped with utmost speed.” To me this sounds like advocating for further shooting of innocent unarmed people. He made us live for 27 years under a stinking state of immergency and he wants Banda to reimpose it on us, why? Is this his idea of enjoying peace? When Chiluba locked him up for just a few days, awe sure takwali ukulilalila cimuchembele choonse kwati ni kadoli.
Dr Kaunda signed this document ! Although Sata’s has expressed his opinion on the Matter he has never been President of Zambia as to abrogate the agreement! Let KK,FTJ and RB clearly state their position on the matter so that the Country can move on! Threatening and sending people to prison over the matter will not help resolve the matter in the long-run !
iwe mudala kuza you made this thing happen look at your friend Nyerere Mwalimu thats why TZ is today is cool with Zanzibar. Just accept the wrong you did by dribbling the whole issue wish you could advise the young people to honour it otherwise this will continue. SUDAN ISSUE OK
No 20—-What you should know is that, the pipo of Barotseland dont want to brake away from Zambia, what they want is development. Why do we only have one road in W /Province, The Mongu LSK road?
Why dont we have mines, we have abundunt natural resources. Let me tell you, we have diamonds, gold, coal and even oil to mention but a few, why doesnt the government do something about it in order to give the pipo of Western Province employment and a life?
All educated lozis have to go to other towns to look for employment. All you have are teachers, soldiers, nurses and policemen. if you dont want to be 1 of those, the only option is to be a civil servant. What kind of life is that?————————–Imagine
ZAMBIA IS NOW COMPLEX AND INTERGRATED . ANOTHER 100YEARS, IT WILL BE EXTREAMELY TO TELL WHO IS A LOZI , WHO IS A TUMBUKA , AND A BEMBA. AT THE RATE WE ARE GOING , 73 TRIBES MAY TURN OUT TO BE ONEOR TWO TRIBES…..THOSE WHO THING OF SEPARATING ON ACCOUNT OF BRE SHOULD BELONG TO YESTERDAY.
Kaunda was smart that is why he made Litunga, Chitimukulu members of the Central Commitee.
#46 i like your comment how i wish all of us talk like you
Look you kk bashers, the man was not perfect and he will be the first one to tell you that in retrospect, there are things he would love to have done differently. He is the father of the nation and he did his part with the cards he was dealt- free education, free medical services, paved roads, peaceful nation, liberation of the whole southern african region and through all that he never stole any money from the Zambian people. Zambians overseas are generally some of the most friendly people you will come across and I cant help it but attribute that to family and country they came from which all started with kk. thats just my opinion pls.
Uyu Shikulu has left us a lot of problems- The BA64. 2) He left us Chiluba, because if he had allowed democracy in Unip, Chiluba would not have won the 1996 election if KK had not over thrown Kebby
dont talk abt Sata or Duffy the old man is no more in politics and his message is a neutral one. the logic of the matter lies on the judgement of people today. DONCHI KUPEBA..MMD KUYA
WITH DUE RESPECT TO BA KK, TELLING PEOPLE TO JUST SHUT UP WILL NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN YOU WOULD JUST TELL YOUR MINISTERS TO SAY SIT DOWN YOU STUPI.DY IDIO.T. PEOPLE NEED DIALOGUE EXPLAIN THE LEGALITY OF THE DOCUMENT YOU SIGNED TO THE NATION, WE DONT WANT ANY PROVINCE TO SEPARATE FROM ZAMBIA, BUT IF THE NATIONAL CAKE IS NOT SHARED EQUALLY NO AMOUNT OF SUPPRESSION WILL WIN THIS WAR WE HAVE SEEN ALL CONFLICTS THAT HAVE MUSHROOMED ITS ALL BECAUSE OF THIS AND HENCE THE REASON FOR DEMANDING TERRITORIAL AUTONOMY. I WILL DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO SOME EXAMPLES OF DISPUTES THAT YOU CAN READ LEARN FROM THEIR CASES
1. THE NOW SUDAN CASE
2. ZIMBABWE CONFLICT
3.RWANDA BURUNDI CONFLICTS
4.SERBIAN CONFLICT
5.SENEGALESE CONFLICTS
SO MMD MUST FIND ROOM FOR DIALOGUE AND RESOLVE…
As a woman passed her daughter’s closed bedroom
door, she heard a strange buzzing noise coming from
within. Opening the door, she observed her daughter
with a vibrator.
Shocked, she asked: ‘what in the world are you
doing?’
The daughter replied: ‘mom, I’m thirty-five years
old, unmarried, and this thing is about as close as
I’ll ever get to a husband. Please, go away and
leave me alone.’
The next day, the girl’s father heard the same buzz
coming from the other side of the closed bedroom
door. Upon entering the room, he observed his
daughter making passionate love to her vibrator.
To his query as to what she was doing, the daughter
said: ‘dad I’m thirty-five, unmarried, and this
thing is about as close as I’ll ever get to a
husband. Please, go away and…
A couple days later, the wife came home from a
shopping trip ,
placed the groceries on the kitchen
counter, and heard that buzzing noise coming from,
of all places, the living room. She entered that
area and observed her husband sitting on the couch,
downing a cold beer, and staring at the TV.
The vibrator was next to him on the couch, buzzing
like crazy.
The wife asked: ‘What the f… are you doing?’
The husband replied: ‘I’m watching football with my
Son-in-law.’
Why are people talking about Sata? What has Sata done to you? Leave him alone! Go on with your s.h.i.thead RB and enjoy while it lasts. Nothing lasts forever, one day someone will be called upon to explain to Zambians. Even Saddam Hussein one day got his calling by the Lord.
This old man shud be caged instead arresting the Journalists who are Innocent just because you don’t like lozis we are human being like you. Just because Banda is your inlaw you can not condemn him. KK you killed many lozis and you feel that was not enough you still want to use Banda to gun us down like dogs wait voting time is in the corner. remember you because we voted for you and this is how you pay us back by killing us. kill us but you wont finish us.
Dr. Kaunda is really wise. God Bless Him.
# 10 stop your stoolpidity! You wanted the man to say something now that he has said something you still are not satisfied! Do you have a place in hell to go to?
Read latest news on Barotseland Agreement at pcmzambia dotco dotuk
#viva Africa what is your point? you sound very bitter.the man just explained to you that one of the signatory of barotse agreement is still there, and to our knowledge the Litunga has never complained aboutit at least publicly.you are being trivial talking about tunnels which are security matters of the state and chiluba who exposed them is equally as s.tupid because every state even here in the US they have those tunnels.TheLitunga was appointed MCC which in itself should be praised as was a a gesture of unity and not making him a worker.he was a leader.the Litunga had even more respect when he combined his royal duties and that of Govt.when chiluba came to power he misled you guys that traditional leaders cannot be public servants.Go and ask the the Queen of England that question AND ..
people take time to read news @ ZAMBIA24….there its more balanced.
The Queen is the head of the British Parliament ask yourself why? i would infact support a Litunga who wants to be president.. why? because in my humble opinion he has the geniune love of country. He is indeginous.Kaunda did not abrogate the Barotse agreement as he has explained, the award of independence to Zambia was based on the unity of people of Zambia.Western Province should open up to development.it is common knowledge and many will agree that people of western province inheretly tribalist, protectionist even you yourself am very sure you know this but if confronted you will vehemently deny it.you have a problem openly accepting other tribes.for a long time it was impossible to acquire even a plot of land in Mongu.i had a nasty experience there.Lokk at some of the simple indicators.
Kaunda again showing qualities that drove Zambia to it’s knees in the late 80s. Explain your part in this agreement. If its not valid say it. Why can’t people show some leadership and call a spade a spade. Is the agreement valid or not. If its not just say it instead of explaining why you carry a white hanky. Can we be serious bane! If it is but amended say it and explain to the people. People will fight because they think they have something to fight for. Once they know that it is a loosing battle believe me they wont throw any stone.
in economics we we use indicators to assess and analyse a situation, here are a few for you:in eastern province, there is a large settlement of asian community and other tribes who were and have been openly accepted by the locals as a result population grows and demand for other amneties goes high, the off shoots of developement! very simple.Due to Mongu’s protectionist tendencies and fears of “manyukunyuku” development has been very slow people are scared to invest in weatern province. It not the govt to bring development its the people!please understand these simple things you don’t need an above the average IQ.See what going to happen in Solwezi soon.as long as you keep your tribalism you will never have meaningful development-open your hearts Lozi brothers and sisters..but i like ur…
It is surprising that KK is being economical with the truth.People are so desparate about the truth, especially the young, and all KK tells them is to shut up.You were the first president of Zambia and you should shoulder all the reponsibility of your regime. My advice to you is to take a step and visit Western Province.Hold a meeting their with our brothers. After all, they have pledged to listen to no one apart from you.We are tired of their bickering when we have a lot of debilitating problem to look into our nation. We do not another INSAKA.They do not solve any problem as they are only there to improve the image of a dented regime like MMD.We want answers from you as well as a midget Kafupi. We are not supposed to throw this onto Sata.Him was just a chola boyi of you former presidents.
When Sata speaks, its rubbish. When KK speaks, the world listens. Thats the end of this debate.
OK.. Lets us just suppose the Zambian govt abrogated the agreement-apparently we don’t know what they abrogated.Don’t the BRE have recourse as spelled out in the agreement? For example like going to court? In this case i would encourage them to seek redress from either international court of justice or Her Majesty’s court system.I thought that is what the civilised world would do.These people need justice.. perhaps we should listen to them before things get out hand. Then the Satas of this world would be happy and probaly go and become president of the new Barotseland….
The problem with poverty in western province is bcos most rich lozi people do not want to invest in western province. evidence shows that most rich people that originate from eastern, southern, northern have always gone back home and set up business in east, south & north provinces. for example, if you look at chipata today, its a modern city that is doing very well. my fellow lozi people lets find a way of enriching our land by investing back home. this is the truth.
Ba Kaunda,by you simply saying ‘stop their activities because their calls do not have a place in Zambia’ doesn’t resolve anything.you put your signature on the document so shed light on what you signed for.explain to the citizen and not threats.Surly we didn’t expect such from you sir
# 74 what you mean chipata been a modern city?some one flies there every month using tax payers money and set up businesses there.why?because the man says he originates from there. How the hell do you expect western province to be developed when during the by-elections Hon Milupi returned the President was quoted saying “PEOPLE OF WESTERN PROVINCE SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO SEE A CHOPPER LAND THERE IF THEY VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION’ Bo Lubasi don’t blame the individual rich lozi’s.There isn’t much development one may bring as long as Government doesn’t support the province and UNDER-FUND’S IT
I fear that if we are not careful, we can blindly support a government in it’s abuse of it’s own citizen’s rights. I urge everyone to be very careful. No one has advocated secession. Secession is a word that has been introduced by the government in order to stir strongs reactions in the ignorant populous. They started calling the people advocating the restoration of the agreement, secessionists. This is ridiculous people! The multitudes are buying this nonsense, and believe me, some people will be cheering on while the government executes innocent citizens. There is absolutely no crime in advocating the restoratoration of the agreement. If there is, please someone name it. As there is no crime, the appropriate action on the government’s part should be to offer a good explanation.
Even Kaunda has offered no good explanation. Instead, he chose to criminalize every proponent of the agreement that he himself signed, by calling them secessionists. There is nothing wise about what he has said. I expected a lot more from the man. He should have just kept quiet. Let’s keep in mind that this is a legal document that can stand up in any just court. The thing is, it does not have to be complicated. All that needs to be done is for the government to acknowledge this document and answer the questions these people are asking. The questions are as legitimate as the document itself. But he gov would rather criminalize these people and charge them for treason??
