The opposition UPND has expelled Choma Mayor, Mason Chaboya from the party for allegedly working against the party’s interests.
Choma Town Clerk, Enoch Kandingwa told ZANIS in Choma today-Saturday that the local authority has received a letter from the UPND secretariat expelling Mayor Chaboya from the party.
But Choma District Commissioner, Laiven Apuleni has described the expulsion of Mr. Chaboya as a total disregard of the provisions of the local government Act.
Choma Council has already written an urgent letter to the Ministry of Local Government in Lusaka seeking guidance over the matter.
The expulsion letter has highlighted allegations that the mayor’s activities are inimical to the interests of the UPND.
The Choma Municipal Council is dominated by councilors from the UPND.
ZNBC
yes if this chap is not doing good to our party then why should we keep him! He is a liability to UPND. Fish him out and he can then join mmd where there is nonsense!
LT give us the full charges
What has the local govt Act got to do with the expulsion of choboya from UPND? Ukushishita iwe chi apuleni
On 10 Jan 2011 PF suspended Nkana Member of Parliament Mwenya Musenge. Capitalist was up in arms sayng there is no democracy in PF (even though he/she had not seen the full charge sheet Kabimba raised).
On 19 Jan. 2011 threeMMD councillors in Livingstone were suspended, why didnt Capitalist say there is no democracy in MMD.
Today (22 Jan 2011) UPND has expelled this mayor.
I think we all need to be reminded that in every sociaety there are rules and regulations to be followed. Action will be taken when necessary by the relevant authorities and let us now meddle in internal affairs of other political parties.
Long Live PF, long live UPND, long live PF/UPND pact, long live mother Zambia. Viva Michael Sata 2011 President of the Republic of Zambia
UPND is truelly diminishing in the South and MMD is gaining grounds. The rulling party is actually recruiting through these explusions.
If he deserved to be expelled, then well n good.we nid 2 kip thn party clean.
LT, anyone, may you please update us on the full charges? What was this Mayor doing (or not doing)?
It is a good thing that the UPND did, if they fully followed procedures before expelling him. Discipline should be maintained. that is how our confidence is built! VIVA GOOD GOVERNANCE!!!!
our party is slowly dying….by the way when are we going for the convention? what does the constitution of upnd say about the elections for verious positions..this is the death of the party.
We Tongas do not mess about you read what was done to VJ in southern province were he comes from no rigging of party elections, let it spread.
The mayor is our MMD man, VIVA MMD. MMD IS NOW A FORCE IN THE SOUTHERN PROVINCE, JUST WAIT FOR MORE DEFECTIONS, THE NEW PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IS WORKING. VOTE MMD and RB 2011
MMD is dead in SP. I am now understanding why MMD is recruiting members in SP buying bribing them. They are dishing out monies to those who want to join their party. Kamuzumina buyo but you know who to vote for on the voting day in the poling booth. Maseseke. Choma DC is campaigning for his election under MMD in Mbabala constituency. For this I am fully aware of here though so many kilometres away from home. SP deputy minister is equally supporting him.Is Hachipuka going to stand under UPND? But RB likes him and praised him during the comissioning of Choma-Niko road which was poorly constructed. I dont understand the praise for a road that has very thin layer of tar except for the bridges like Ng’onga and Mwela which were nicely built.
he was about to resign from upnd
The Mayor of Choma was expelled on flimsy grounds to pave for Cornellius Mweetwa to stand as MP for Choma central. The mayor pauses a threat to that cause because he is a force to recon with. He will stand as an independent and he will grab the seat so UPND has miscalculated on this one.
Batutana Batutana Bango na Bango…..they are fighting their own brother. Go go and fight each other while we watch it..kekekekeke.
Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia
