FAZ Wait for GRZ Word on Togo Game

Share

Faz has yet to get word from Government over whether Zambia’s 2010
World/Africa Cup Group 11 qualifying match against Togo scheduled for
September 6 in Chililabombwe will go ahead due to the 21-day national
mourning for late president Levy Mwanawasa.

Football House has disclosed that they are still awaiting word from
cabinet office as to whether the match can take place on that date at
Konkola Stadium.

The game will come three days after Mwanawasa’s burial and two days
before the 21 days of national mourning comes to an end.
Should the match not be played, it will mean Zambia can favorably only
host Togo in the October when the next Fifa match dates will be during
the dates of 11th and 15th -something Faz is trying to avoid without
being disrespectful with fixture congestion in mind.

Togo during that October match date period have a scheduled Group 11
home game against current Group 11 leaders Swaziland in both teams
last pool game.

Faz says it is hoping a decision will be made on Saturday, August
23 on the date Mwanawasa’s body is expected to return to Lusaka from
Paris where he died after a stroke left him in a coma for over one
month.

  1. After mourning our beloved president a little entertainment will hate no one let the lads play maybe they will be motivated even more to play.

  2. Thank God there is FIFA. Kalu should know this, but then again we know where we are coming from.

  3. FAZ chaps are going in circles. They’ve suspended all their training because of the national morning. Now they’re wondering whether they should play as scheduled. Don’t even dream of playing if you’re not training. Start lobbying FIFA or is it CAF to postpone the fixture. What kind of staff is in Kalu’s head kansi?

  4. Why can’t we just play as scheduled. There is no need to stop everything just because ONE PERSON has died. I mean sure he was a good leader but we hve tomove on and continue as planed. Thats what Mwanawasa would have wanted. Actually on second thought lets play them in October. With Togo playing anothor game against the Swazis later hopfully they wont be fully focused.

  5. HEH??…Man i see no logic there…look the prsident was a good man but life has got to go on PLEASE!! we shall mourn enough then play later on.The boyz will be motivated more to win as well for sake of the president.if they dont then oh well then its drama agian the saga continues……

  6. I am sure that some clear non emotional heads will advocate for the Boys to continue training and actually play on the scheduled date.
Having to apply for new release dates for our foreign based playes will be a real hassle for the coaching team and FAZ.
We do not have to wail and gnash our teeth to show our loss and bereavement for LPM.
Let us show our bereavement by dying a little for mother Zed on the Pitch.

  7. If they want they can play togo in South africa. LPM is late and we are still living for a reason. For us life continues and we must remain being productive and focused. Iwe chi Galu let the boys continue training and play as scheduled.

  8. People peolple, life goes on. R.I.P Mr. President.
Please 21 days is long enuf to suspend activities in the
country, do some light training and play in October.

Godfrey Miyanda looks like he has no clue,
RB is not popular in his new party,
Magande is a Mr Know-it-all loud mouth
Others are simply not easy to sell…

  11. The time is now that all Zambians should awake from their deep slumber of ignorance, lets vote HH, young, healthy, intelligent, successful and rich.

We do not need dead man walking(Sata) in plot 1, nor do we want poor and ignorant(RB) who will end up like bus conductor(Chiluba), by plundering with this money hungly cabinet we have.Neither do we want the clueless(Godfrey Miyanda)he will lose track of the good economical direction that the Cabbege but hard working(LPM) left us in.Nor do we want the I know it all(Magande) who will not be able to listen to advise as he thinks that he know better than anybody else, this will reduce investor confidence in Zambia.

    Lets all vote HH.

  12. #12 you are very stupid, are those you qualities of a good leader? Your judgement is corupt and you need some brain maintenance. A lot of people in this world a rich from various activities but it does not make them good leaders.
You must be a poor man indeed.
Is Obama rich? H Clinton has earned more money than Obama but that does not make a better leader than Obama.

You better go to school or learn to use your brain effectively you *****.

  13. #12 ubupuba ne fyamba uleke! filapenya! ah sorry fyalikupenya kale!

  15. Guys lets show respect to the Mwanawasa family, we don’t need to make bad comments at all. Coming back to our main topic, i think mourning for 21 days is enough to show respect to LPM. But the Zambia/Togo game should be on, the team is already in camp getting ready for Sept 6. GO ZAMBIA, WE ARE A STRONG AND POWERFUL NATION. WE WENT THROUGH DEATH IN 93 (GABON CRASH) AND IT US STRONG AND BROUGHT US TOGATHER.

  16. #19 this blog is for Public opinion, just air your views, if right u will be supported if wrong expect to be criticized.

  17. i feel there is nothing wrong with the lads to play on 6th sept since by that time our president will be buried.
