PF to hold Party Convention next month

The Patriotic Front-PF has said it will hold its party general conference in mid March ahead of this year’s tripartite elections.

PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba said currently, the party is holding its provincial conferences and that so far five have been held.

Mr. Kabimba told ZNBC news that the PF has already held provincial conferences in Western, Central, Southern and Northern Provinces.

He explained that Northern Province has been divided into two, and that five more provincial conferences are remaining.

Mr. Kabimba has appealed to the party leadership to exhibit humility during the party’s provincial conferences.

He has also urged PF members to fully participate in the provincial conferences.

Meanwhile, the Patriotic Front has asked government to put in place measures that will curb financial irregularities cited in the Auditor General’s report.

Mr. Kabimba said the PF is particularly concerned that every Auditor General’s report has financial irregularities.

He said the K308 billion  misappropriated is too huge and that it could have been channeled into the social sector.

And in Mansa, The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Mansa District says it will not recognize any aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) candidate for Mansa Central and Bahati Constituencies because it has not been consulted.

And Mansa UPND has challenged PF in the Province to come out in open and tell the UPND if they are not ready to work as a pact in the Province.

In an interview with ZANIS, Mansa District UPND Coordinator Jones Mutimushi said UPND will not recognize all the PF aspiring candidates for Mansa Central and Bahati constituencies because the selection was done without consultation.

Mr Mutimushi said the PF UPND pact has never sat to choose and interview any aspiring candidates adding that it is therefore disappointed to learn that the pact already has the candidates.

He said UPND in the district has therefore distant itself from being part of the panel that chose all the PF aspiring candidates.

He said even if PF has more support in Mansa Central and Bahati constituencies than UPND, PF was supposed to consult them on the selection and not just dictate to them that they have picked candidates.

He said from the inception of the Pact, PF and UPND in the district met only once when the PF Spokesperson Given Lubinda visited the district.

Meanwhile, Mansa UPND has challenged PF in the Province to come out in open and tell the UPND if they are not ready to work as a pact in the Province.

Mr Mutimushi said the PF in the province has been working in isolation adding that this cannot establish the pact that people want.

  3. Finally, after 10yrs of the PF’s existence! Sata failed to hold a mere party convention for 10 long yrs and preferred to hand pick his “central committee”. Let’s not forget that he’s also been the self appointed treasurer for this entire time and all party funds are controlled like a personal piggy bank. Honestly, is this the type of character we’d like to elect as President??? The PF is a one-man show which would quickly collapse in the event of Sata’s demise.

The problem we are currently facing in Zambia with regard to state media stream is blanket reporting, you can never trust them. let’s look at what is being presented in Egypt for instance, the people who are relying on state media are being fed lies and are living to believe what is being presented to them. Zambians are well known and respected for their I.Q. but sometime i feel let down when people just decide to switch off allow certain people to auto pilot them.   15. Whether RB wins or not he should always pùt it at the back of his mind that all reasonable Zambians(except the uninformed rural dwellers) are very much against his rule. Should Egypt activities replicate into Zambia, he should not blame anyone. You cannot impose yourself on people. One should have reasoning to say if you get only 35% of the national vote then people don’t like you. And probably only your relatives voted for you.

  18. The majority of the urban areas who are voting against MMD are from the compounds and that does not make most of them more informed than the rural dwellers. And does it mean that if the majority of the people are against RB – then the rest are for a certain preferred candidate! The majority are not easy picking, they have to be fought for tooth and nail by providing alternative agendas not the mediocrity I have seen from that certain candidacy.     Shaking things up is a term that people who have been brain washed by propaganda use. Devt is not like cleaning a hospital or breaking houses in a shanty compound. Its work that needs careful technical implementation of learned tactics to work a big sytem like govt into profitability. The south africans made the same mistake you are about to make thinking a seasoned cadre like JZ was what they needed but now they are crying because there guy has not delivered on the many fake promises he made. So I say again vote wisely and don’t expect a man who has failed to run his party systematically or collect gabbage in the councils that are PF controlled to miraculously change things with more on his plate. All I can say is that if/when the pact breaks HH will be the biggest beneficiary and with every reasonable. Person supporting the UPND will carry the day.   101. Hmmm, this is interesting. Sata may not be a Saint, but lets leave judgement to God. If he were a dirty man as some claim here, and correctly so, MMD would not hesitate to send Sata to Prison. Lets say the proven truth about someone. Can someone tell me if UPND has ever held any democratic process in the Party, at whatever level? Are they in breech of their own rules?

    The tribal tag on UPND is so visible, and repugnant. I agree with someone who says UPND is non-existent in Eastern Province. I’m a Ngoni, I don’t supprt HERB and I can say that MMD has messed up big time. In less than 3yrs, we have contracted debt close to US$4 billion, while refusing to have a reasonable tax regime. No development to write home about. Shame!

  109. Just a few months ago we were told that the Pact was necessary because UPND or PF cannot win the elections on their own. Now typical of chameleons you have changed and think that PF can win on its own. What has changed? Guys winning requires consistency, and that is what MMD is. So by your earlier Pact statements we already know who will carry the day in 2011. If you consider RB’s achievements in two years + the frustrated Pact supporters = landslide for MMD. I know that you don’t like to hear the truth but you have only two choices now for 2011: swallow the bitter truth or join the winning team and build the nation together with a leader who makes sense and has demonstrated it.

  111. Stolen words. HH has properties that he started buying as. Young professional in areas like kalingalinga. He has being buying off and selling, he also has money in shares in various companies as a board member. He also has farms were he rares animals and sells them for beef. But you can go to his website and see for yourself the number of baords he sits on. For your information board sittings can give you as much as K 1M for every 30 minutes of your time and for some of these organisations you are given shares as a board member. Let’s not forget GT where he saved for many years , he has lots of shares there and and sat on boards for Africa. He’s a sharp guy that’s why he’s called to advise. People anywhere in the world support their own, obama got most of his support from the blacks, R.B from the easteners and Sata from the Bemba’s so you are right in a way as that is a no brainer. But this is not about tribe its based on merit. The way Mwanagiti behaved in 2006 is the same way Sata has been behaving and that is why he never gets support in areas where they don’t speak Bemba, Eastern, copperblet Lamba land, Mpulungu , mbala and parts of the Luapula where the Lundas stay. In contrast HH has support from Lozi’s , luavales, kaondes , lenjes, etc. In Kasama by elections sata said that only a bemba could rule , in your nec the only non bembas are scott, Lubinda and inonge . So we will keep opposing because the mmd is a party full of window dressing activities that don’t fool the rest of us.   119. yes we support our own is right but for upnd its just too much, no party can win a single seat in southern province apart from upnd…bembas may support sata but mmd has mps in bemba speaking areas of nothern province e.g mutati, mutale nalumango there is even an interdependent mp munaile…but for southern province its a different story check what MUCHIMA said almost the same as CHIBAMBA KANYAMA.
