PF can die if it does not abandon the old habits-Emmanuel Mwamba

Share

Patriotic Front (PF) Presidential hopeful and former Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba has warned that the PF can die if it does not abandon the old habits that made it lose the 2021 General Election.

Mr. Mwamba said the PF should move away from slogans of rebranding and focus on practical steps of reviving the party he described as a sleeping giant.

He said the PF is in dire need of new leadership, new energies, and new thinking to regain the lost confidence among Zambians.

Speaking on Radio Phoenix’s Let the People Talk Programme on Tuesday, Mr. Mwamba said the PF cannot afford internal squabbles, especially since it is in a weaker state as an opposition party.

“As a presidential candidate my path is very clear, the party needs to integrate new people. The party needs to abandon some of the policies that made it unpopular. The party needs to accept the mistakes that were made in the past and begin this charm offensive to the Zambians where you assure them that yes we made mistakes but yes we have repented on these matters but here is a party that is contributing to the democratic path of this country,” Mr. Mwamba said.

He admitted that rebuilding then PF won’t be easy.

“The opposition should not die, the PF should not die. So we have an emphatic approach to the Patriotic Front, I think that we need a lot of energy to rebuild a party that has just lost an election, we know what happened to UNIP, and we know what happened to MMD. Recognizing those challenges and recognizing just the apathy that greets a party that has lost because the people would tell you the PF is dead, PF has no future, PF did so many things against us why are you even trying to speak to us about it. So here is a broken relationship a party has with Zambians so when you recognize that there is a broken relationship you embark on a path to then build that relationship and it is not easy to win back the trust of Zambians,” Mr. Mwamba said.

“It is not easy to tell them that the mistakes that we made are walking away from those mistakes, to tell them that in a democratic dispensation like Zambia you need an opposition party, a strong opposition party and the PF is in that space. It has about 50 Members of Parliament. It has structures countrywide that really haven’t even left; it has a path of ideology to the poor people and to workers. It has a very solid foundation despite its economic loss. So there is something very big there that can be revived. It is like a sleeping giant but it can die if we do certain things, if we are casual about the PF. If we adopt the bad habits that made us lose elections and we carry them into this current dispensation then the party will die,” he said.

Mr. Mwamba is promising to offer unique leadership if elected PF party President.

“Recognising the difficulties and challenges of internal squabbling that can actually destroy the political party, we cannot afford internal squabbles, especially that we are in the opposition because we are now in a weaker state than we were in a ruling party. You know icikalika abantu pa musumba bwali now that ubwali tapali what will you do? It is the values of the party and ideologies of the party that should keep you together,” he said.

“We have come, people like I, we have come and said we can do politics differently, we can recognise the demographics that vote; we can speak to their issues. You have seen that have not dwelt on discussing the internal party issues of the Patriotic Front because for me I think a leadership that is required is a leadership that speaks to national issues, that promotes discourse that builds this country, that deviates and abandons those old habits of insults,” Mr. Mwamba said.

  1. Also Old-moded members like yourself Ambassador. You mostly must step back and allow new brooks to take the helm.

  2. Old habits die hard. That’s why it would be extremely difficult to have different outcome when same things are repeated over and over expecting changed results.

  3. You are one of the many faces of the soiled and rejected PF who want to rebrand the divisive party.
A party that went all the way on dangerous trajectories of hate, vindictiveness, tribalism, public purse looting, divisiveness, and all manner of lawlessness including destroying public confidence in Police and Judiciary. A party that presided over terrorizing us with gassing and mocking us with open disregard of rule of law!

    Ukose Mune. Mukose ba PF!!

  4. You frustrated and threw away quality using the PF FOUNDERS THEORIES which made you lose quality and charismatic people. What you have a is a LUSAKA ONLY noise making PF. Chaps like Edify Hamukale, Miles Sampa and others could have helped PF but alas they are all frustrated by the FOUNDERS OF PF like Kambwili and you Mwamba

  5. PF should rest in eternal political peace(riepp) until we meet again on the other side. Prepare for more defections. many of those 50 MPs you are talking about will have joined other Parties by 2026.

  6. it appears MWAMBA is the only one in PF leadership who has been listening, Again and again, we have said here that PF currently doesnt have a leader BUT IS FULL of noisemakers. We have said it that PF can NOT survive with leaders like NAKACINDA, LUSAMBO, CK, MUNDUBILE, LUBINDA and MWAMBA himself. With above, MWAMBA is separating himself from the park, and he is getting it. ALL this rebranding nonsence by Lubinda has been a failure right from the start as PF has NOT said any truth. as they rebraded to be even bigger liers. Their biggest mistake thus far, has been their lack of support of corruption effort by GRZ BUT iNSTEAD they claim to be victims. The whole rebranding has been highjacked by NAKACINDA.

  7. Whether Mwamba says that petrol is gone up I will still disregard his rantings as this is one bagger that spearhead & engineered misinformation abt Zambia abroad and back home that rigged all elections for pf and that ran the slunder campaign against HH & other political leaders. This mwankole is unforgivable.

  8. When now he sees that his pocket is running dry , now trying hard to sound sensible to seek for a job in Government as this bastard has no Proper legitimate qualifications. This Nipa third year I.T failure students and resorted to Hacking and let’s say basic hacking(cos vote rigging on tabulation is not even I.T or writing articles in every newspaper to influence the thinking of Zambians is not I.T either). Or tapping a cellphone and character assasinating others is not I.T either but basic entry level skills. And always wearing a jacket doesn’t make your brian professional and an ambassador this was jst a typical clean mwankole in a GRZ suit.

  9. Also someone doesn’t even have an eye problem but always wearing goggles, jst for the sake of looking good. Shame, aren’t those things heavy bro?

  10. “……..has a very solid foundation despite its economic loss……….”

That is the main problem facing PF………

They can not survive without GRZ contacts and corruption………..

Especially with the loss of access to GRZ funds by the clique……….

The only way PF can come back is by a disaster performance by HH , resulting in mass dissatisfied citizens………..

In other words, PF can only count on the ability and performance of HH to be negative……….

But judging from things thus far and his cv, this is unlikely………

  11. PF are empty tins making the loudest noise. Keep quite and come to reality that Zambians do not like you and your politics. Period.

  12. Its all part of freedom of speech, in the new govt., even dreams are free. Carry on, all your FKs that stole from the poor!

  13. A leopard cannot change its spots, that’s impossible. I mean, stinking tribalism is in the DNA of Mwamba, Chimbwili, Sata and the PF itself comprises these dead and living stinking tribal bigots! It’s beyond redemption! Look at the list of Zambian students in Ukraine, all only Bembas/Nyanjas. Ask Malawi and Zaire to go collect their nationals, ala!

  14. He talks as if he was a neutral not forgetting that he was MMD ran away to join PF…he is very part of the rot that PF needs to get rid off.

  15. This ex Chiluba guard must understand that Zambians want better governance NOT the betterment of the party itself.

Zambia for ALL Zambians ..Equal rights access to all gvt resources NOT ONLY FOR RULING PARTY as was in PF (celective)

  16. Lubinda, Kambwilli, these guys have been living under a stone for at least a year. They still don’t know that ordinary citizens don’t want them anymore.
