Five hospitals to be commissioned

Share

Government will soon commission five newly built district hospitals in Kaoma, Lumwana, Kapiri Mposhi, Mumbwa, and Kaputa.

President Banda said this in Lusaka Monday, when he commissioned the Fairview Hospital.

The President said government is determined to improve the health sector in the country as has been seen through the recent upgrading of five clinics in Lusaka, to first level district hospitals.

And President Banda says government has managed to address limitations in accessing diagnostic services in the health sector.

He says it is gratifying that owing to his government’s health policies, limitations in diagnostic services have become a thing of the past.

He said in the recent past, he has commissioned vital diagnostic equipment at various health centers, including the University Teaching Hospital -UTH- and other district hospitals countrywide.

And Fairview Managing Director Eric Ranbeloson said 40 Milion United States dollars has been invested in the hospital that has employed 180 local people so far.

Mr. Ranbeloson said the hospital will offer modern advanced medical services which will help the country reduce on evacuating people seeking medical services abroad.

  1. Please all those people who are only good at sniping at the government, please give praise when it is due. This is progress. Zambia is now one of the fastest economies in the world. Soon Zambia will be joining Botswana as one of the truly DEVELOPING countries in Africa.

  2. Developing my foot…come home and see the situation for yoself..why are u still in england if things are getting better at home???voice of no reason

  3. Actions speaks louder than words. While those on the other side of the river keep fighting about the PACT .We need hospitals, schools, roads and business coming into Zambia.

***ZAMBIA recorded a trade surplus of more than K840 billion, a feat that meant the country finished the year without a DEFICIT MONTH last year***

This is an ideal “Investment Good Indicator” for the nation. And if we keep this trend in the next 4 years, the country will be better placed for better investments.

  4. Mmm soon we will hear that the hospitals are for sell as it is for schools. All commisioned schools will be sold as per govnt resolution. This govnt has nothing to offer really. They build many schools so that they distribute them amonst themslves as private schools. This is the same with hospitals they are building, they will distribute them amongst themselves. These MMD thieves…

  5. The GVT under Chiluba build over 20 Primary and secondary schools country wide and yet never officiated the opening of most of these schools.Over 25 clinics, which MMD under RB are calling hosipitals were also built but never officiated the opening of many of them, He constructed major roads in the country and yet not every road was officiated by him.

What RB should know is these are on going project for the GVT and in fact most of them where started by Levy(MHSRIP).

  6. what does it profit a man to commission hospitals and schools and thereafter sell them to chinese? Even toilets will commissioned in this year of elections.

  7. Hallucinatory pinheads in titular parties have a kilimanjaro to overcome at the hands of one RB’s pro-development leadership.

  8. Dont just commission improve the salaries of all health workers in the country as well, or else its all meaningless if those working in these health facilities are not motivated.

  9. For the simple minded, myopic and un talented minions on rupiah’s payroll commissioning without improving the conditions of service and equipment is development enough. But the wise are not only concerned about infrastracture development, but also about high poverty levels and unemployment among other important things.Soon and very soon Zambians will have visionary leadership.

  10. #2 you mutati ,
stop waiting for the time when you awake and Sata has put manee in your pocket, use yourbrain and take advantege of the conducive economic enviroment created by RB, soon you will be wingging about how foringers and other Zambians are geeting rich while you are complaing and waiting for that free manee to appear in your pocket from PF

  11. There is no way we can praise the govt because the existing hospitals have no nurses, doctors and other health care professionals. Where are they going to find qualified health professionals to work in those newly built hospitals? They will be white elephants. There no medicines and other requisites in hospitals. If they knew that they were going to build new hospitals, why did they buy the mobile clinics from China? Why did the MMD govt retrench health workers through voluntary separation from 1997 to 1999? The ruling party is direction-less and is in confused state. Very soon they will fail to pay workers because the civil service if becoming big again. what is happening is a big joke.

  12. This HERB MMD Govt must be sincere about these developments. I hope he will be sincere enough when he goes to Kaoma to mention that the Hospital there, expanded from the formerly Kaoma Urban Clinic, has been more than 85% funded by the Dutch friends of Kaoma Hospital through the Dutch Doctors who workrd at Kaoma, viz, Dr Margaret (Now at Dutch Embassy in Lusaka), and Dr Mark. Kaoma District Hospital is not a GRZ Project, it has been a Community Project. If any MMD retard thinks of questioning me, know that I was part of the project planning team. Anyone interested in this info can go and find it on the ground in Kaoma. MMD must not hijack people’s projects. And these projects were started under LPM, hope he acknowledges LPM’s contribution.

  13. FOR 20 YEARS MMD HAS JUST BE “COMMISSIONING” HOSPITALS AND CLINICES AND SCHOOLS!! WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO JUST DELIVER, ENOUGH WITH COMMISSIONING!!

  14. the fact that a project was started by the late mwanawasa and is finished by rb is good news for us,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i would hate to see the situ oof 91 where all programmes that kk left were abandoned only to be resurected after 20 years………………for those saying they havent delivered wat do u want them to delliver

  15. #1 That hospital in Fair View is for rich people not ba kambwanga. What we need is to equip UTH, Kitwe Central Hospital, Ndola Central Hospital etc with machinery like the one which RB and Co follow in SA.

  16. I commend His Excellency R.B.Banda for making yet another stride in fosterign a health Zambia. I learn with interest that more health facilities are yet to be commissioned by the fall of this year.

My appeal to the head of state and policy makers is to see the urgent need to work towards eliminating medical fees completley for the less privileged as soon as possible.

Having had the chance to live outside our beloved country, I speak proudly about our nation’s health facilities in view of our general “treasury”.

One can only ponder and smile at the job opportunies to be created by this proliferation of clinics and hospitals. Clearly, the nation is on a path of unprecedented growth and one can only wish our united mother land continued peace and prosperity.

  17. #4 you are an example of a socialist. you believe gov should running everything leave us the people as consumers.
i look forward to a day when gov will introduce medical insurance or cover for a large part of the population. will help reduce the shortage of health workers and take zambian health services to almost the level of SA. there is need for more private sector driven health care and gov driven care.
the same should go for the education sector. Gov is right in “auctioning” some schools where neccessary. this different type of thinking is good.

  18. #20 Deja Vu the hospitals you mentioned will never be equiped like the SA hospitals you are talking about. those SA hospitals you are referring to are private hospitals not Gov hospital. Even Gov hospitals equivalent to UTH are not equiped anyway near private hospitals in SA.
zambia just needs big private hospital such as fairview. Gov needs to make it possible for people to afford care in these so called hospitals for the rich. employers should be request to cover their employees. individual citizen should be able to take a health care cover for themselves. in SA a cleaner working for a for a bank can be admitted at the same hospitals our politicians go to becuase they have medical cover
