Share

Forty seven thousand and eighty-six grade twelve pupils have obtained full school certificates representing a pass rate of about 59.6 percent.

This is out of seventy-nine thousand and thirty candidates who sat for the grade twelve examination last year.

Education Permanent Secretary James Mulungushi says of those who obtained full school certificates twenty-eight thousand five hundred and sixty-six are boys and eighteen thousand five hundred and twenty are girls.

Dr. Mulungushi announced at a media briefing that over thirty thousand candidates have obtained the General Certificate of Education-GCE.

He explained that 59.6 percent of pupils obtained full certificates in 2010 compared to 60.6 percent in 2009.

Dr. Mulungushi also said two hundred and forty-three candidates were involved in examination malpractice in 2010 compared to 89 in 2009.

  1. The young ones are getting 6 to 10 points easily, why? In our time some of us were so proud of our 16 points and even manage to get a place at UNZA but now it is impossible! Are they brighter than us or exams are getting easy or it is a combination of cheating and innovation? When was the last assessment for TQM of these exams? Anyway my felicitations goes to all who have passed.

  2. DJ..u know what today’s kids with 6points know almost nothing….but you and i of the olden days were fully barked ..both socially and academically!

  3. Zambian university graduates are overrated. Zambian education aims at improving a person’s memory by way of subjecting them to achaic courses that have no relevance in the practical world. Zambia is not developed because the young college and inexeperienced graduates land jobs that require not only one’s brain, but experience as well, but they can’t deliver on both fronts. I know that university education comes at great financial and emotional stress, but UNZA or CBU graduates need to be entry levels when the join the work force, and only climb the ladder when the amass experience and mental toughness to handle management jobs. It’s because of inexperience that most graduates spoil their lives. Even an Ivy League graduate joins the work force at an entry level.

  4. No matter how much degrees u attain, u will never beat the value of experience.Awarding these management jobs to UNZA and CBU graduates was only a good idea during the time when most Zambians couldn’t write or read. Zambia’s education was designed by the British with the intent to minimize the number of graduates. Once u get the university diploma, it’s a sign that one has endured the mental torture that university has to offer, not that they can makes management decisions which requires emotional and mental intelligence. The whole Zambia’s education system needs to be restructured. I was one of the few to go to UNZA, but I know there are other people that were just as bright that didn’t go, some were eliminated at grade 7 and 9 respectively.

  5. MoE should establish reasons for poor results(59.6%!!!) & increase in malpractices(243 agianst 89 in the previous exam!!!).Information on comparison between boys/girls not complete.

Congrats 2 those who have genuinely passed

  6. Zambia Change the employment policy. Sure you want to employ the young ones on Contract. Kaunda used to employ us on Permanent and Pensionable.

  7. On “He [Dr James Mulungushi] explained that 59.6 percent of pupils obtained full certificates in 2010 compared to 60.6 percent in 2009… Mulungushi also said two hundred and forty-three candidates were involved in examination malpractice in 2010 compared to 89 in 2009” this data entails that our Grade 12 graduates are becoming weaker and weaker each passing year and dishonest or corruption in the mind of Zambian youths is increasing.

This problem of corruption increasing explains why PF has been performing well in urban areas because Mr serpentine Sata MC is more corrupt thatn the word corruption itself according to former President of Zambia Mr FJT Chiluba who was Sata MC’s boss for many years.

Clean energetic UPND president HH has to become President to better things…

  9. iam a pupil who sat for 2012 grade 12 exams.i would like to express my views and talk on behalf of my fellow pupils who are encountering the same feeling concerning leakages.its not all pupils who rely on leakages some of us we strive harder to archive our goal but the thing which is destructing and making us lose comfindence in ourselves are the leakages and i urge gorvement together with the ECZ to do what they can to overcome this problem because at the end of the day i cant be happy getting the same results with someone who was not striving harder in his/her studies and its not worthwhile.

  10. Irrisponsibility, laziness, gridness, selfishness, cruewity,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you can name all other terms should be out of our minds if we are to fight mulpractice which will later mature to corruption.l wrote my exams last year and because i have not settled my school fees cant know my results. Please if possible send me the grades via email,am ready for anything. My exam number is 2990440075.THANKYOU
