Henry Stambouli has resigned as Togo coach just a week before The Hawks visit Zambia at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe on September 10.
According to Togo newspaper Actualité on Monday, Stambouli resigned on Friday due to non-payment of his dues for the last two months.
“I have sent notice of my decision to break my contract due to the nonpayment of my wages for more than two months,” the paper quoted Stambouli as saying.
“Even if my wages are paid, it is finished. I will not reconsider my decision even after 50 times. I unfortunately noted that I will not be able to work like that with Togo.”
Stambouli has been at the helm of Togo since May 28 after signing a 2-year contract.
In his care during Togo’s last two 2010 World/Africa Cup Group 11 games, they won once beating visitors Zambia at their temporal home in Accra 1-0 on May 31 but lost 2-1 away to Swaziland on June 8.
Togo are currently bottom of Group 11 on 3 points from two games with a match in hand coming up against Zambia next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Zambia resumed training camp today in Lusaka before heading to their Kitwe base on Wednesday.
Today also saw the recall of defender Davies Nkausu from defending South African league champions SuperSport United.
Nkausu returns to the Zambian fold eight months after making his senior debut in the build-up to the Africa Cup finals in Ghana although he did not make the cut for the tournament.
However, Renard has remained cagey as to whether left winger Clifford Mulenga of Bidvest wits in South Africa will be part of the team following his omission from next Wednesday game against Togo.
But their is a place for struggling striker Collins Mbesuma who is expected to join the team this week.
All the 12 foreign based call-ups for the match against Togo are expected to join the team by Thursday.
Foreign Call-ups:
Goalkeepers: Kalililo Kakonje (Amazulu, South Africa), Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars, South Africa)
Defence: Joseph Musonda (Lamotville Golden Arrows, South Africa), Davies Nkausu (SuperSport United, South Africa)
Midfielders: Isaac Chansa (Helsingborg, Sweden), Rainford Kalaba (Gil Vincente, Portugal), Felix Katongo (Stade Rennes, France), Noah Chivuta (SuperSport United, South Africa)
Forwards: Christopher Katongo (Arminia Bielefeld, Germany), James Chamanga (Clubless), Collins Mbesuma (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa), Jacob Mulenga (Chateauroux, France)
This should not make us big headed and think it will be an easy game. It will surely be a tough one. That I can bet on it.

This resgination won’t affect togolise players in anyway, because they have the assistant coach in place and they have been training all along,so let’s treat them the we know them, otherwise they can perfom miracles on home soil.

# 15&16 thanks for the insults but Fifa suggested to Faz if 10th will be ok with them they said yes am not talking from without please.
Boys, take advantage of this confusion in their team. You can make it, go for it and bring good results. All the best !!!
zambia go zambia we can do it i know. we have all it takes the coach has seen that there is no future in his team. zambia 2010 is our world cup. all this life is a dream en i beg let no one wake us up till we touch the cup en i will personally come to touch. the cup has come in our hands we cant afford to loose it. its for us zambia its time we believe in ourselves together with all our faith we can do it we can win i know. lets look to God who said IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME HUMBLE THEMSELVES PRAY CONFESS THEIR SINS I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN EN HEAL THEIR LAND. faith a substance of things hoped for tho unseen. now how about the cup we can eveen see.
no insults good luck boy
#21 CONT
if FIFA president can our cry to etend the day for the marth how about him who created fifa president. God Almighty is ever willing to help but we dont ask him. its time we exercise our power unlike just talking that we are christains. in churches we pray for political stability its tiume also we pray for victory. the fact that we dont pray shows aor weakness but God said these Egy**ians you see to you will see them no more. if Moses walked on dry sea why cant we go strait to victory. God said to Mose that I have head my children cry. now have we ever cried to God. we bring shame to his name by not believing that he can do it. he is not only the healer but a rewarder of all things
we have to be careful. this might be a psychological trick to make us relax. the players are not affected in any way coz they have been training.
Chance!!!!!!! Reminds me of last year when the chosen one resigned, Man U, did what was supposed to be done, they beat the Blues. Its not a 100% advantage for Zambia, but has psychological effect on Togo. Hopefully it’s not one of those tricks which teams used to use in the 80s-90s.
Zambia 1 Togo 1
togo 0 zambia 2
#17 You are just frustracted , do not think negative over the team.Zambia will carry a day !!!!!!!!!!
Imwe muleibwelamo ngamuli bena Congo mwaumfwa esp @26 we need to win this game and maybe by any chance we might go to the world cup. Whatever would happen there is not very important icikulufye natuyako kaili ni pa Joburg. Elo tufwilefye twaya ici tinta n’gombe bonsefye mwaishiba.
People stop making noise, the game is not played yet. Any team has a chance to win. Its a 50-50 chance, the team which score goals will win, so don’t rule out Togo. Zambia is at home but that dosen’t mean they will beat Togo. All i can say, Zambia need to produce goals in order for them to win. I don’t predict the goals or the out come. So i will leave that to those who knows the game out come.
Hon Mbulakilima’s suggestion requesting companies on the cbelt to release workers in the afternoon is perfect and should be supported by all soccer loving Zambians. It will be a bit tricky for soccer funs from other towns to make it to Konkola stadium during the week. Zambia Go zambia GO. It is vital to seriously assess all players to avoid playing names Clifford Mulenga should have been included, the boy is exploding in PSL (WITS)RSA. Any idea if this boy is coming?
# 29 be realistic. Zambia going to the WC?? In your dreams my friend.
For as long as you insist on an expatriate coach bena ZED you will never be anywhere near the world cup, Zambian football is unique. It does not need foreign coaches but good training equipment.
Let’s just wait and see the results. That is when we can all open our mouths wide, after all it’s just a game.
How many times that Henry Stali-tambuli going to resign? This is 3rd time he packed this year. He is very childish, and I don’t know why Togo is pleading for him. So Renard, add salt to those wounds, give them 6 goals.
TUKAWINA KABILI MBESUMA AKABAMO
Gormless munters!
Adebayor wins here.
Zambia 0
Togo 1.
Guys stop being like the British. Even when they know they are underdogs they up thier team. Yeah good for morale but reality is another thing.
Togo has 11 players and a coach in Adebayor if he plays the story could be different.Just do your home work Chipolopplo.
When was the last time a Zambian coach resigned as a matter of principle? Results may be abysmal but they hang on like limpets.
Ba Zambia Makula period. Call pros + lose matches + fire coach. 44 yrs and counting!!
Billy mwasha. Ifilema mwasenda. Wats wrong with u pipo!
banya no kunya
togo is more under pressure than zambia
