MMD Luapula Province chairperson Emmanuel Chungu has said Patriotic Front (PF) leaders are panicking over the popularity of the ruling party in the area, and the opposition political party is now fabricating stories in order to gain political mileage.
Mr Chungu said the party in Luapula Province was working well with PF ‘rebel’ Members of Parliament (MPs) contrary to reports in yesterday’s The Post that he had complained that some of them had outlived their usefulness.
“Whatever was reported in The Post is not true, this is a blatant lie. Our relationship with the PF MPs in Luapula is good and to us they are not rebel MPs but cooperating partners.
“I have never said what was attributed to me. Our relationship with our cooperating partners is very fruitful and people saying this just want us to differ,” Mr Chungu said.
The February 22 edition of The Post quoted sources as having said Mr Chungu had, during the MMD NEC meeting on Saturday, expressed doubt over the popularity of some PF ‘rebel’ parliamentarians from Luapula.
Mr Chungu said as provincial chairperson of the ruling party, he had a duty to engage all the people in the area, including those from the opposition parties, to promote unity regardless of political affiliation.
“MMD is enjoying massive popularity in Luapula as can be seen by most of the by-elections which we have won in the recent past.
“Such reports by the opposition will not deter me to continue working hard so that the party gets even stronger,” he said.
He said MMD was working hard to ensure that more investments was taken to the province so that there could be extra income and jobs for the people.

In 2008 all the rebel MP went flat out to thier constituencies and campainged RB. But Sata beat RB in all of these constituencies, so no panic bwana. Thats why they cat resign and recontest on MMD or as independents
Pf is just working hard and must continue doing so. Chungu wants to take a position that he believes serves his advantage, but the situation on the ground is totally different.
PF focuses on a plan of action that that keeps them in close touch with the people.
Its the only way to win
Luapula,Lusaka and Copperbelt are still the strong holds of PF whether MMD likes it or not,period

MMD has won all the recent bye-elections at ward level in luapula and Sata knows he is in trouble in Luapula. ask him why PF has failed to hold a provincial conference in luapula?
Ba Chungu dont deceive your RB that all is well in luapula. Its better to face reality that PF is strong there than cheating your cadres in MMD. Continue relaxing and see the shock you will receive when PF scopes all the seats there.

Ba PF Cadres, it is this year that you will soon regret. Be factual and treat things as they are. Firstly, you can not compare what RB got in 2008 with your Sata because RB was just introduced on the scene. From 2008 to data, it is a fact that PF has been losing all the By-Elections at Local Government level and I do not know whether those are not the signs of losing popularity. Just talk about the Mighty UPND who have been retaining their seats in Southern Province and busy grabing seats from MMD. Bear in mind that UPND was once a largest opposition party in Zambia and this is likely to happen to the PF this year.

THE TRUTH-Which are these wards, how many, who held them before the by elections. Just lead you all the ward were in Mansa the other Consituency where MMD have an MP(Musosha). The others are Chiengi(KK), Chembe(Kulimatower), Mambilim( Chinyanta). So dont be talking from very far.As a Resident Development Member I move a lot to see how the other areas are doing, so Iam more updated than you who relies on MMD propaganda.

Miss- RB is the one who should worry because he has so much at stake. He cannot afford to lose. Chungu’s barking wont win RB the elections. You are not even from Luapula so what makes you think we shall vote for a Muchime/Mugoregore?
This whole quarrel about who is more popular than the other between MMD and PF will soon be settled. My hope is that the settlement will not send one Cobra to his early grave looking at how desperate the old comedian is to become president of Zambia. Unfortunately in Zambia’s case, those who pursue plot one at all costs do not live to see their dream come true. Examples are plenty: Harry Nkumbula, Mwansa Kapwepwe, Humphrey Mulemba, Arthur Wina, Kebby Musokotwane, Baldwin Nkumbula, Christone Tembo among many others.

#9 The truth. Are you the only Jew who doesn’t know that PF held a very successful convention in Luapula Nchelenge? The fact is the PF rebel MPs are not factors in Luapula. Ask them if they have even venture to go to their own constituencies. The are a liability to PF and the province MMD will adopt them at their own peril. Watch this space.
