Northern MMD 100% for Banda

Share

The MMD in Kasama District has resolved to give Acting President Rupiah Banda, 100 per cent vote as MMD presidential candidate during the forthcoming Presidential by-election.

MMD District Chairman, David Chanda confirmed the development in a statement released to ZANIS in Kasama today.

Mr. Chanda said party members in the District would rally behind Mr. Banda, because of his maturity and level-headiness when dealing with national issues.

Mr. Chanda has since advised Northern Province Minister, Lameck Chibombamilimo to stop misleading people that the Acting President does not have support in the Province.

He accused Mr. Chibombamilimo of lacking political direction, as evidenced by his short-sighted statements regarding President Mwanawasa’s successor.

Mr. Chanda declared Kasama Province a no-go area for Mr. Chibombamilimo once MMD’s National Executive Committee (NEC) formally endorses Mr. Banda as its presidential candidate in the forthcoming by-election.

He further warned that MMD members would not allow the Provincial Minister to continu advancing his cheap politics, adding that Mr. Chibombamilimo did not even command support in Mpulungu, where he is Member of Parliament.

Recently, Mr. Chibombamilimo was quoted in the media as saying Acting President Rupiah Banda would not be supported by the people of Northern Province if  floated as the presidential candidate for MMD in the forthcoming by-election.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chanda has welcomed senior Chief Mwamba’s clarification  that the Bemba Royal Establishment was not in support of the statement issued by the Ituna traditional Committee where the Committee endorsed Finance and National Planning Minister Ng’andu Magande as the right candidate for the MMD in November’s presidential by-election.

He urged the people of Northern Province to ignore any statements from Ituna Traditional Committee Secretary Francis Chikwanka, regarding President Mwanawasa’s successor, because his grouping was an illegal entity.

  1. first widow wait and see till you move out of state house and become normal like us because after your cabbages end of term you where planning on standing then after your ten years you were thinking of putting chipo as president but now we shall roast you kwati kampanda kaku chulu.by this time next week chungu and shansonga the chiefs will send money for firewood and parafini to prepare for the bonfire of all the kulibonesha ta in statehouse, goverment, corporate and social positions because nepotism practised by cabbage was beyond disgusting

  2. What has happened to my bemba tribesmen. They have already moved for RB. My tribesman you are bamuselela kwakaba. You are to quick. Banda is your mbuya but he is not MMD and if he is, then he is short of two years membership to qualify.
So bembas be wise and slow down. We have a constitution in Zambia unlike bemba land. We do allow people to contest elections and follow the constitution.

  3. confusion anongest people who r supposed to be one is the first sign of a downfall.Goodbye MMD KUYA BEBELE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Chibombamilimo has no morals. he fails to see reality. look at how he was parading and dispelling real data from a qualified doc. and now instead of keeping quiet he is busy f***……………

  5. Politics of poverty nififine. Late LPM is partly to blame, he should have come out in the open with his succession plan! Now look what’s happening? Mmembe & The Post seem to be strongly pushing for Magande (highly unethical, they are supposed to be impartial!) while MMD old timers are pushing for RB. Bottom line is, we are not a monarchy & there is no such thing as a ‘crown prince’. Hence, all the aspirants will be subjected to a NEC vote, which in a perfect world would be fair, but given the brown envelopes floating around, I won’t be surprised @ the outcome…watch this space!

  6. I am worndering whether essex boy has seen enough of classroom walls.

His contributions are so trivial. Why cant he emulate me. I have humble education and have stayed out rather than expose my simple mindedeness.

  7. I have never heard anything wise coming out of Chibombamilimo but on RB he was partly right. RB is a polarizer in MMD but surely he will be the cheapest and easiest opponent for the opposition. He has more weaknesses than strengths compaired to Magande. Moreover, there is a constitution to be followed. Iam told RB didnt even care to get a membership card for himself. If he did, may be early this year and on those and other grounds, he definitely does not qualify. The open Magande support move by The Post is very embarrassing for the media to get involved in. You guys we respect you, so respect us and let us think for ourselves. You are not SAINTS. Let democracy prevail within and outside MMD

  8. Are Ngande Magande and his group corrupt?
Allegations have emerged that NEC members from the provinces were paid up-to K30million to support his decision for MMD NEC to hand pick LPM successor against RP and KaKa who wanted and pushed for a National convention. Allegations have surfaced that USD900, 000.00 recently transferred to ZESCO from Ministry of Finance, found itself to members of the NEC attending this crucial meeting. It is yet to be seen if investigative wings will resolutely pursue this matter.

    WE ARE WATCHING YOU

  9. #9, you are right my man.
#1 and a few others are good at displaying stup!dity. It appears keeping quiet when they have nothing sensible to offer is a problem.

Please keep your ignorance to yourselves.

  10. Some MMD cadres have bn camped at Chrismar Hotel and promised to be given K12m each if that candidate has bn nominated as presidential candidate. Share waste of money please

  11. Lets forget about MMD coz ba RB can`t go to plot one. The chap has been floated coz he is weak and ministers want to take advantage of his weakness. Lets talk about HH or SATA.

  12. FORGET ABOUT CHIBOMBEBOMBE,LET ME REMIND U,HE WAS ONCE SHOT BY BANDITS A LONG TIME AGO SO HIS BRAINS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING WEL AT ITS BEST.NO WONDER HE CAN SAY THIS TO DE EN U TURNS ON THE PREVIOUS STATEMENT.SO WATCH OUT FOR CHIBOMBEBOMBE.I DONT KNOW Y HE WAS EVEN APPOINTED AS DEPUTY MINISTER FOR NORTHERN PROVINCE,OOOPS I FORGOT THEY CAME FROM SIMILAR SITUATION WITH LEVY.ACCIDENT THEN HIM GUNSHOT.SHAME.VOTE WISELY IN NOV.NIPA BWATO FYE.

  13. RB IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR THR JOB HE MAY BE OLD VUT HE IS A LISTENER AND HE IS NOT ARROGANT AND HE IS NOT CUTTING DEALS WITH ANYONE WITH A PROMISE OF REVIVAL IF HE WINS.

  14. Why do you want to vote for somebody you little know? Why in a hurry? Please take your time & come to your senses & vote for the rightful candidate. “Mpombo wibilima ababilima tabaya, kuntanshi kuli ichibanda matehi”. So please vote wisely.

  15. can someone please explain to me why RB is standing when he was born in Southern Rhodesia – does the disqualification not apply during a presidential by-election? sorry if it’s a stupid question but I don’t have a copy of the constitution with me… oh and what about that business with RB’s secretary, has everyone forgotten? UNIP kuyabebele…

  16. This is why the parents of democracy advocated that the critical decisions of leadership are not to be left with the massess as they might be a tyranny of the majority hence the craft analogy by plato which suggests that the talented few steer the ship in the direction of providence irrespective of the noise around.

  17. Rupiah Banda was born in Gwanda, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe); his parents had come from Northern Rhodesia to find employment prior to his birth, and he was sponsored by a local Dutch Reformed Church preacher (and later, the family of B. R. Naik) to continue his education into adulthood. He became involved in politics when he joined the youth wing of the United National Independence Party in 1960. Banda married his wife, Hope Mwansa Makulu, in 1966 and the couple has five sons together. After President Mwanawasa was re-elected in September 2006, he appointed Banda as Vice-President on October 9, 2006.

  18. I was just reading through and put 1 & 1 together. USD900, 000.00 tranfered to Zesco. Now NEC members from the provinces were paid up-to K30million to support his decision for MMD NEC to hand pick LPM successor against RP and KaKa who wanted and pushed for a National convention. Guyz has our ACC suddenly become toothless. This stealing should be stopped. Civil servants are putting in too much for so little. what is wrong with this country guyz. This Gande man is no presidential material. Let us look elsewhere.

  19. we know these chaps from Northern province, you have no morals chaps!!you support anything so long they give you something!!!look beyond 2008 chaps!you got to vote fro credible people…

  20. Vj is back in circulation, I guess they are just waiting to finish malilo issues and then they will switch on the rigging machine. It is currently en-route from Harare to Lsk

  21. You guys why is it that most of you are assuming that the Republican President will come from MMD? Remember there are by-elections for the office of President.

  22. There is a latest Rigging Machine for sale! All political parties are invited to inspect and try it out. It rigs 1000 votes per minute.
    Hurry! Hurry! while stock lasts.

  23. Zedns are fed up vj and his rigging machine. Y cant you let the electorate put their own person in the office. No rigging, no corruption and and the will of the people is done.

  24. The self confessed drug ballon is expired period! I wonder what they all see in him these guys that bring him from time to time. I will not be surprised once again to see the man back in cabinet when the next presido is put in office.

  25. Zedans, RB is tired. surely, what is he going to offer to the people of Zambia? He has had a fair share in as far as politiking is concerned. I learnt about him in my social studies and civics. please lets not allow our children read him too. Kavindele and Sondashi are in the same bunch. Kuyabebele.

  26. I like the way Aka has conducted himself in the recent past. He no longet bluffs anyhow. LPM, MHSRIP, Seemingly put him in his place. Not these chaps bene Mobombamilimo and the like!

  27. Low voices were heard on this forum, of people’s discontent with the post. It’s not that the post is unwise, I think. It is because the post talks for people instead of on behalf of the people. Confusing phenomena I’m suggesting here, but it has always fascinated me to see the post jamming its head into battles it can not possibly win or even unnecessary. Just few thousand men working for the post can’t surely predict how RB will perform in future just like they did not predict LPM. How can Zambia lose so much. I can stand loss of a president, not death of culture, art and civilization. Paternalism has always been objectionable because it is seen as manipulation when it involves adults

  28. Tribalism in Zambia is prominent than in any other African country. People are ready to suffer and vote for an ignoramus as long as he/she is of there tribe

  29. You know why the those who want RB want him because he is someone they can trample upon. But Magande is someone they can’t easily bend. And people have not seen thsi, you will notice how resources will be plundered in the three years of RB’s rule. Rather we all vote for Sata than any of them fighting.

  30. Fellow Zambians…sata is mugabe material.let RB continue till we gather more information and truth about who we really want.A bad heart cannot be hidden for long.Women of zambia please support maureen as she has been mourning for over 2 months now. which woman would be crying for 2 months continous and which woman would not do what maureen is doing now or even worse.

  31. But your RB hasn’t yet been endorsed. Who knows what NEC will come up with, might be something different from your views. I think that they will pick on Magande. If not kuyabebele. And HH not Sata (who is even worse than RB) will come into power. Then you will see some of these people who is out of the country coming back home.

  32. BEMBA, in Kasama are equally dull. Or is it only those in mmd? If mmd the ruling party dont even know their constitution then it is not suprising for chiefs in mansa to utter rubbish. You slow thinking bembas, consult with constitution b4 you talk rubbish like your colleagues in mansa.

  33. MMD, your confusion is a clear indication that you never learnt anything from the qualities of levy. The old selfishness has resurfaced.I hope the confusion continues up to 2016 because this time around its HH to build on Mwanawasa’s vision.

  34. #40= you rae not thinking properly,if you cal sata same type as mugabe then, u re also cabbage type, have manners and lets vote for sata and hh will be the vp. MMMD stand for make money and disapear,so lets go for PF once UPND comes together with PF.

  35. # 45 you are sick,y vote 4 Sata in the era.Sata is worse than Mugabe,he has failled 2 go 4 a convention in his Party and he is fighting his 26 strongest MP’s who are the main financiers to PF.Who cn he win an election wen his own majority members dnt wnt him?

  36. 1.MMD is in a state of disorganisation.U cant give the mandate of presidency to a disorganised party to start with because the disorganisation will extend 2 the arms of government and the state will be in choas.
2.MMD is a danger to zambia and its young democracy.Democracy entails that there are clearly defined methods of ascending to leadership. you do not choose leaders on the basis of someones opinion.Mwanawasa’s opinion is based on his personal judgements and should not be the basis of chosing leader because there is a clearly defined electrol college.am very disapointed with the educated ministers especialy bradford & shakafuswa.masebo temulandu ni cadre

  37. I really understand why our African politics. To some people they think RB is best choice for presidency simply because he is the acting president?
It’s not about being acting president is about the ability to deliver.
Can some one tell me who RB is?
    What is his CV?
What are his accomplishments as a public figure?
We need to know and some one needs to tell the zambian people were RB CAN take us as a people.

  38. I feel LPM(MHSRIP), filled in RB as his Vice of Sympathy….the man needed a job. RB has had his time, let him go back to farming like he has always been!

  39. #52-Hey mind your Language, its not the Bembas, its just a few MMD chaps in Kasama, and the MMD is just trying to portray a picture that RB has support. We Bembas can support anyone even from other tribes for as long as we know he can do the Job (we are not tribalists). But sorry RB we cannot go for you you are not deliver anything to Zambians. We want a man with a vision!

  40. Forgive us we are as equaly corrupt as those we condem and point our dirty finger at.

We want a person who can protect us and our interests eg Zambian Airways, Plunder Cases (we are also plundering from as “MNB Legal practioners), and some other deals which we are hidden under.

Ifwe ba POST tukondema balya abatuchinga.

So Magange is our choice and that is why we have descided to BE HIGHLY UNETHICAL by openly and shamelessly and without fear to OPENLY campaign for MAGANDE.

  41. Forgive us we are as equaly corrupt as those we condem and point our dirty finger at.

We want a person who can protect us and our interests eg Zambian Airways, Plunder Cases (we are also plundering via our HIGH LEGAL FEES from as “MNB Legal practioners), and some other deals which we are hidden under.

Ifwe ba POST tukondema balya abatuchinga.

So Magange is our choice and that is why we have descided to BE HIGHLY UNETHICAL by openly and shamelessly and without fear to OPENLY campaign for MAGANDE.

  42. This issue of tribe in Zambia still amazes me. Do you mean the One Zambia one Nation never sank into you? I have friends and I mean friends from all tribes. I have travelled and still travelling the world. I have learned, drank, played, name it with people of all tribes, race and different gender. We are all the same. What you are has nothing to do with all these orientations. The issue of tribe is perpetuated by the unwise Zambians who themselves are tribal and just confused. You can have chains and chains of degrees yet unwise.I dont blame you, wisdom is of God. You could be Tonga, Lenje, Bemba, white, indian or mixed but you are still a great human Zambian.

  43. No go area! Wow, do such politics still exist? Lets live in harmony even with people who have divergent views. Its time to get rid of such politicians as Chibombamilimo. Zwaaa! fya kale, scraba scraba.

  44. # 49 & 50, if you don’t know RB’s CV, try to ‘Google’ him – Wikipedia. Up to date version, even with the filing of nominations.

  45. Viva RB ! The Family Tree Generation (FTG) is crumbling.
But take care. Sata is your only challenge (threat).
    Good Luck!

  46. The combination of RB, VJ and an easterner Intelligence Chief leaves me in no doubt as to who our next president will be! Those in opposition should not make a mistake of targeting 5 provinces and leave the other 4, you will be shocked how the 4 will from no where be decisive given the combination above.
So HH widen your base Southern Province alone will not take U to plot one.
As for Nevers Mumba all you need is to grow up, you had the chance to be gifted with the top job, but you blew it up. So if I were you, I would rather spend time praying to God for guidance, wisdom and knowledge so that U learn the difference between your personal desires and the Will of God.

  47. General Miyanda in my opinion is still the best man for the top job. The trouble is that he is so perfect that his conscious would not allow him to work with corrupt colleagues and then dump them when he becomes president. He feels he can only work with people he is comfortable with from election campaign through to Plot one. But this strategy has failed him

  48. The Post should learn to engage itself into meaningful discussion. For a long time now they behave like they own Zambia and Zambia owes them something. Please The Post its time for you to mature and respect leaders. The people you call thieves have not acquired wealth from the state as much as those like you who have acquired it indirectly

  49. Willa Mugomba and Magande are possibly the best materials to become the next president but the trouble is that the most effective clique of political lobbyist like VJ usually opt for easy sale, easy access to government cash, someone they can manipulate at least for the first 2 years that’s why VJ, Chitala, Lewanika etc are always in Government for the first few years while the new president is learning the rope.
A successful Finance Minister like Magande is not an easy sale because to manage public finances U need some degree of arrogance which makes them unpopular among colleagues especially that most of their colleagues have no idea how the economy is managed.
