The Centre for Elections and Governance (CEG)Zambia has appealed to the MMD’s National Executive Committee (NEC)to endorse the Acting Republican President, Rupiah Banda as its candidate becuase of his neutrality and sober character.
In a statement dated 2nd September and signed by CEG Trustee, Gershom Musonda, Mr.Banda was described as an electable candidate, as he was compromised, by virtue of not belonging to any faction within the MMD and because the late President Mwanawasa used his wisdom to pick him as Vice President.
The statement further pointed out that although the fact that 17 eminent persons applied for nomination was indicative that MMD allowed divergent views as a democratic party, it should endorse Mr. Banda to ensure that there is continuity of stability within the party and in the country’s development policies.
Mr. Banda was said to be in command of donor and investor confidence, adding that his demonstrated loyalty to the late President could not make him depart from implementing the development policies Dr. Mwanawasa left in place, after mentoring Mr. Banda very well, leaving him with a very good and sound mememory not to go wrong.
And MMD youths in Mazabuka have joined mounting calls to rally their support behind Acting President, Rupiah Banda as their party Presidential candidate for the forthcoming bye-election.
MMD District Youth Chairman, Kecious Gaanga said this in a statement to ZANIS in Mazabuka today.
Mr Gaanga said youths in the district are ready to campaign for Mr. Banda, because of his wise leadership during the absence of the late President Mwanawasa, adding that the MMD’s National Executive Committee (NEC) should endorse his candidature and ignore sentiments from outside forces.
He said Mr. Banda has guided the nation so well from the time the President fell sick to the time he died.
Mr. Gaanga urged other aspirants vying for the top-most job to wait patiently for 2011 and allow Mr. Banda to continue with the programmes left by the late President.
However, MMD in Central province has called for a ceasefire of the debate regarding succession of Presidency as the body of the Late President Levy Mwanawasa is put to rest tomorrow.
Provincial Secretary Roy Mulenga told ZANIS in an interview in Kabwe today that as the body of the Late President Mwanawasa would be put tomorrow it would be a relief from embarrassment to stop debating the presidency before his burial.
“We pray to our Heavenly Father and thank Him for the gift of our late beloved President Dr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa. As we mourn and put him to rest tomorrow in a respectable manner, we ask our Heavenly Father to bless this nation,” he said in prayer.
Mr. Mulenga said it would be absurd and disrespectiful to the late President to conduct, rather tahn concentrating on the funeral.
ENDS/SK/PK/ZANIS.
NOT RB PLEASE NOT EVEN MMD
what Kind of thinking is this? were saying the man is old whether the president appointed him or not, Time is Up. besides it doesnt mean once appointed then he holds the post for ever, NEVER!
may be NEC should have a live phone in telecast where us ZAMbians will give credits to candidates to give them a guide line.
its too late these guys have caused an embarrassment already. nevertheless we barry tommorrow. then we hear wat happens. lets pray that God almighty alone lead mother zambia
Lekeni tu shike please come friday we will know that is if they dont end up fighting
Banda is too old.Bedsides he looks like LPM’s twin brother. Please choose credible leaders
please lets comment intelligently we all know age cannot be a reason why he cant stand please lets think of something else. and for the bugger who says that RB looks like the twin of the lat LPM should have some respect for the dead.
I pray that HH wins the presidency so that Magande can still continue as Finance minister. HH is the right man because would not allow cabinet to increase their salaries. Banda has little control over his sub-ordinates hence he is easily tossed about when there is wind of change.
END OF MMD,THEY BROUGHT POLITICS OF POVERTY AH! ITS REALLY EMBARASSING TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.
The post has proved itself, a self-serving mass-deception device. Arrogance. It is an arrogance of its assumed supremacy and the air of entitlement that it holds dear. It is the presumption that what it writes is “truth,” that it is the arbiters of that truth, and that it is “democracy” personified and that without the Post we are naught but a “banana republic.” Magande is chief bookkeeper of Maureen Inc. spanning the Globe, and the Post their mouthpiece. How much democracy is sacrificed by such a cheap agenda? More reasons why i cant believe a word from this lying paper. Frankly, I hope they lose a few more readers.
Magande is can perform better than Banda. What is the problem with us Zambians sure, I had thought it was going to be easy for Magande but its like factions are coming up. Anyway let them endorse RB, that will be the end of mmd and the young man in the name of HH will come in the scene.
IS RB AN MMD??????????? ANYBODY, KINDLY ADVISE AST AM TOTALLY IN THE DARK.
… AN MMD MEMBER I MEAN???
Mushala,,,,,the dead are dead…..respect or not they remain the dead…..Mushala?????come to think of it aren’t you dead too???????????
What can the weak RB bring to this country? The chap has no direction and command. Lets jump on the boat and see how it does in only three years time. Otherwise if MMD gets back those huge salaries will be approved.
Both Magande and Banda are not MMDist! Magande UPNDist, Banda UNIPist.
WHAT IS RB? 25MARKS
WHAT IS NM? 15MARKS
WHAT IS NM? 60MARKS
ha ha ha ha!!!!
RB to plot one? It can`t nangu ni pa zed. This guy wanted to pay those huge salaries to plititians just some weeks ago. He is weak and hasn`t got the intrest of zed at heart. Ponyax is saying no to this joke.
Fred Membe,Dipak’s and Maureen antics won’t go unchallenged,
you are not Fox news to influence the outcome of this election,
your endavour will surely flop
bsm9
Fellow country men and women,RB has no qualities and he cant perform he has no agenda.Rememember he was at the farm when he was called, how can this man contest presidency without an agenda?Where is he going to choose his cabinet from?Dont be supprised if he picks teta as his VIP.Magande is hardhearted this time we have mineral tax the chap cant even feel that since they made K25bn from the mines in a single month lets revise taxation for our poor people nothing!.If MMD poached patrick chisanga they can make sense or bob sichinga. For now lets be in the boat Its much safer than these characters.
Please Zambians, the increase of the Salaries was not huge. What was wrong was the motive behind the salary increament. After the increament, the Veep was only comming up to 19Million Kwacha per month, and you say that is huge?
Go to the mines and see what those foreigners are paying themselves and see if will think the same.
SATAs perspective has been alright. Lets check these investors. How can you say there is development in Zambia when other towns like Kitwe, Ndola, Solwezi, Mongu cant feel it. Lets find a way of destributing this whealth if at all it is present in our Mother Zambia.
Ponyax,
that what was said about LPM in 2001,
we all thought he would be dwarf Chiluba’s puppet,he would be weak in MMD etc
but we all know what happened, nobody can foresee the future for sure
I have a suggestion: Can any one out there come up with a name of any unknown character and promote such to be endorsed as the next president. This person should have the best qualities and of noble character. He should information us the nation what they intend to do for the country. This is so because I do not think the opposition and indeed the ruling party have any credible characters who want to be president.
Gershom Musonda should have pointed out Why V.P Banda is ‘electable’ One fact is that Banda is not compromised “by virtue of not belonging to any faction within the MMD” and is not an MMD Member (Still UNIP). If Band joined MMD after he was appointed VP, then his membership in MMD does not qualify him to stand for MMD presidency. MMD “is a party of laws”, let them apply the law!
I think lets pray that Katele uses his Technology so that RB is not nominated. Katele please twafwe twapapata.
21. Some pipo think they are sangomwas like those in SA. they want to predict the future. I think RB is in a better position unlike “the cabbage” was as in 2001 to just remind a few Zambians who might have forgotten.
Even on succession, who do we believe between the clergy and Maureen. What the glergy said appears to be more in like of what a great leader like LPM was could have said and not what is comming out of maureens mounth. I think she has shares in the POST and she want s to make sure it sales.
This Gershom Musonda always shows up on election time n disappears soon afterwards after incurring debts .There r many unsatisfied judgements against different organisations he has operated from as far back as Chiluba era .This is an indictment on the Regisrtar of Societies
Those who want a young man, can you explain why you want a young man?
I thought age is not what gives or subtracts capacity in someone to rule.
Let us be in the habbit of defending our views.
For example me I will tell you that a sober leader is more capable to rule than an arrogant (old or young) and selfish man who thinks he is the only leader Zambia needs.
Magande first needs to be coached by Silvia Masebo before he can aspire as candidate. This is what the president, according to Masebo, wished; that Masebo must reduce Magande’s weaknesses. And I think she is still working on him, until she is done magande is not yet presidential material.
No. 5 Beautiful, iwe tawakakote! You will die young and soon. Don’t despise old pipo. And you Chi No. 15, so what if they came from other parties? Even Sata was in UNIP before and all your parents and some of you were educated by UNIP government and for free!! We all came from UNIP not by choice but because Zambia was a one party state in for so long. Short memories, remember your civics!
amen to that # 27, let Masebo continue working on Magande as per Levy’s advise until 2011!!! How come RB’s age is such an issue when Sata’s age doesnt seem to be an issue?? And yet they are age-mates. And both saved in UNIP. Only one is more enlightened than the other. And thus a lesser evil. No prize for guessing who.
Why do people in zed like politics?? Gershom musonda..was my prefect at Kawambwa boys.. he went to UNZA and did Eletrical Engineering. Instead of solving Energy problems at Zesco..he chooses to politic on the peripheres..
Reuben Lifuka.. I was with this cap at CBU..he did Architectural design…Instead of re-designing our Cities he has also choosen to be issuing political statements..
These are common stories among our graduates. What is wrong with us?!?
As for next president, all parties (MMD, PF and UNDP) must have internal election before fielding their candidates. we don’t need self annoited party presidents vying for national presidency.
@ 27.. ADVICE,
nice and sober contribution,
surely if age is the only issue you can come with about a candidate, then to me he’s perfectly fine,
means you’ve failed to find any skeletons in his closet, cause there was any pipo would have been yupping about them by now,
you’ve failed to taint him wiv anything, that’s the more the reason to support him
30 Nice observation
Iwe Chief observer, cant you differentiate between private and public sector. The public sector is funded by us , why should we pay more for politicians
MMD is a sinking titanic so is PF.Everyday pipo r jumping out of the boat.Y,boat has lost direction & its engine is worn out.Batteries in the ‘Pa nkoloko’ have dried and watch has stopped ticking.HH this is ur time, show solutions to the many problems facing zambia.
BUSHE IN ZAMBIA WHAT IS THE PROBLEM KANSHI? CANT WE LEARN FROM ELECTIONS IN THE US? NOONE FORCED ANYONE TO VOTE FOR OBAMA.SO WHY SHOULD PIPO BE FORCED TO ENDORSE BANDA. LET THE PIPO VOTE FOR WHOEVER. NEVERS,KAVINDELE, ETC GO AHEAD AND STAND, MAY THE BEST MAN WIN. MU ZAMBIA IFI MA POLTICS FYA KUMUSHI ATA SE
See why a Bemba will never rule this country again, nearly half of the aspiring candidates are stinkers either from Katanga or Kasama:
1.Maxwell Mwamba (Bemba), 2.Sebastian Kopulande (Bemba), 3.Wila Mung’omba (Bemba), 4.Mr Martin Chama (Bemba), 5.Katele Kalumba (Bemba), 6.Mr Lawrence Mulenga (Bemba), 7.Mr Charles Ngesa (Bemba), 8.Nevers Mumba (Bemba), 9.Rupiah Banda (Malawian), 10.Nga’ndu Magande (Tonga), 11.Ronnie Shikapwasha (Lenje), 12.Brian Chituwo (Lamba), 13.Billy Phiri (Nsenga), 14.Pastor M. M Nyirongo (Tumbuka)
15.Enoch Kavindele (Luvale), 16.Ludwig Sondashi (Kaonde), 17.Mr Nason Msoni (Tumbuka)
Whatever happened to Alfred Zulu (of ZIMT) and his shenigans,
knowing his knack for opportunism it’s so unusual for him to be silent at such a moment,
and what about the ‘independent churches association’,what’s Rev Masupa’s phrophecy this time…. we need his guidance
are they both dead or still alive….anybody know?
# 35 good observation why should we impose someone just because he was appointed by LPM? LPM was not God, he was infalliable just like everyone of us. Chances could be he was gonna fire RB any way. It is amazing how Zambians become worshippers of pipo. So all of a sudden everything LPM did has turned into Gold. Why do we sink so low Levy did well but was not perfect
‘Dr Kalumba said he would only release the name of the undeclared candidate to the NEC’
Who is Katele fooling, he is the undeclared candidate, disqualify him for refusing to come out i the open. You bet he got this advice from a sangoma.
Not the cry baby. RB cant handle the pressure. Zambia was under strict controls under LPM, now since the cat is away lawlessnes will prevail. All those who were restircted will come out to play and if we have a cry baby or a softie like HH , we are heading for a recession. We need someone to personally check wghat is happening. If needs be with a whip. Unfortunately that person is Sata. We dont have much of a choice but we need strong and uncompromised leadership.
Everything LPM achieved was a collective effort. Maureen was definitely part of that effort and so were many Zambians, but now with the new head of Government there is no guarantee the same team will be maintained and even if , will they be as loyal as they were to LPM? So picking RB on the grounds that he worked with LPM is lame and lacks vision. RB is not LPM and the sooner will acknowledge and accept that the better. We have to move on. What guarantee is there that new deal policies were the best policies for zambia? there could be others so lets not hide in the shadow of LPM, he did his best and someone has to do his.
Lekeni ba PF bateke naifwe tulyeko.mulelya fye mweka
#28.When someone makes a comment like that, it doenst mean they dont have respect.#5 akakota akamona nabana babeshiku bakwe, in Jesus’a name-Amen.No weapon fashioned against her shall prosper.I break that right now in the name of Jesus christ.
Ba 33, that is why Zambias development is slow because of PhD Syndrom. That is why you get peaple poeple who are unqualified mostly working for the goverment because you believe government workers are supposed to be poor. Whether private or public, expatriate worker or not, we should strive at getting compatitive salary scales for Zambia so that qualified pipo do not run away, so that we get young pipo ving for political positions with right credentials (I MEAN QUALIFIED) to run certain goverment departments unlike poeple just wanting to have a job.
Please respect civil servants jobs as much as yours because they drive the economy.
MMD is finished, as pf supporters would say ‘the clock is broken.’
So i dont think there is any candidate that the MMD could pick that could win the popular vote legitimately or ilegitimately..
LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sata is not a factor in these elections – he represents the past, dictatorship, sick, and no future.
Fellow countrymen, honourables, distinguished guest and fellow mourners, let us allow RB to continue from where my late uncle has left as there are many benefits that will be derived from RB’s rule. He has no vision whatsoever for the country and is a man of few words. We the former untouchables wish to continue slaughtering women at parliament motel and there can only be continuity with a man like RB who has a test for baby girls. As for the increase in the number of single women in our beloved party, serious talks are in place with the experienced Masebo to recruit male street boys
to form a branch within MMIC to handle emergencies
VIVA-Movement for Mad Dads (MMD)
Alanda Umwanike
Awe ili lyashi it is becoming boring, why should we live a life of apologies, why don’t these guys call a spade a spade, MMD ended with the departure of ackson sejani who confronted Chiluba and asked his whether he was going for a 3rd term and immediately resigned!!! Abwaume obu!
Who the hey is CEG! and what gives it the authority to advice a political party on matters of candidature?
Banda is too old and too compromising to the likes of mulongoti to lead this country.
MMD adopting RB could be the right thing at the moment. Just by looking at the number of ‘candidates’ (15) vying for presidency, it is easy to say that MMD is a divided party. And RB could be the super-glue for now!!.
In case RB goes on to win national elections as our Presido, DON’T expect the same ‘humble’ and timid RB.
Why? Beacuse he will have the mandete and authority to call the shots. It happened to LPM. He may even form ‘New-MMD’ and damp those MMDs not on his side..just look across Malawi..Mbingu formed his own party to escape the Muluzi factor.
After the LPM burial, fasten your belts for Zed-style political circus!!
hamusankwa thanks for bringing sanity and reality to this debate. DO NOT BE DECEIEVED. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH RB THATS WHY LEVY BROUGHT HIM TO KEEP THE CROOKS AT BAY WITHIN MMD. LEVY WAS WISE IN PICKING RB AS VEEP HENCE THE PEACE WE ARE SEEING PREVAILING. MAGANDE IS CORRUPT TO THE CORE EVEN HH CANNOT WORK WITH HIM IF HE BECAME PRESIDENT. THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN UNDERMINING HH THROUGH MEMBE THE CHIEF PROPANGANDIST. MAGANDE ALREADY TRASNFERRED 5 BILLION KWACHA TO NATIONAL AIRPORTS AND TRIED TO FORCE TRANSPORT PS/MINISTER TO OVERLOOK ZA DEBT BUT THEY REFUSED.
RB is a big threat to all tghe politicians at the moment.
The man has all the support that he needs.
Hard facts are not normally welcome, but reality is reality; we need to face it.
SATA, missed his opportunity by an inch in 2006; that was the end.
HH has a good future, but not for now; he wont have it.
Magande thinks Zambia is POST Newspaper;
They have now decampaigned him and slapped him in the face by telling the nation that he has weaknesses which Silvia Masebo must reduce; and she is still working on to reduce the weaknesses to acceptable levels.
There is no chance for him since he is already old, Sorry!
We need to know Banda’s cv not just electing him because he is the
vp. I for one think that he can be a good minister of agriculture
Vote for RB.Others are just thugs, dictators like sich and old Satan. Ubwato bwa unda.
The best is to wait and see who these chaps are going to endose as mmd president, mmd will be finished if they pick a wrong candidate, remember, he will only be the party president who has to be voted by Zambians, one wrong move, mmd is gone, and if it loses, that will be the end of mmd.
i just hope the next president continues where our late president left, to my fellow Zambians, lets hope for the best.
Banda is like a toothless old lion. I agree with Jacksen that he
should be minister of Agriculture or chief
#56, you must understand that having teeth in governance is equivalent to having the mandate to exercise your teeth(authority).
This is the simplest thing one canever understand about governance.
#56 RB when elected even with his gums, he will be able to rattle the MMD cage.
At the moment he may look fragile BUT when the chief justice swore hin in…he will definately toughen-up and start positioning himself beyond 2011.
RB is a politician..even more political than HH and Magande combined.
So far so ‘good’ for RB.
banda was just chosen by LPM to thank the easterners for vorting LPM during the 2006 election,he dont have any furture for this nation its the blue MMD members who are influesing RB to stand, please people advice him to stamp down otherwise anything can happen for RB has he is aged.
Leaders like MDs of companies rely on lower bodies and offices to anchor their vision.Civil servants will most likely continue to be in employment…Whoever we pick for the higher office will get good support from these hard working guys and the nation at large. All contributers to this blog are sharp people who can not be easily misled. Zambia is for us the people, we can stop 3rd terms in their tracks. Levy was voted for by 29% of us. He proved himself and the reason he did not get the other 71% is because of these guys now jostling for the top office…VIVA HH “hello hello..to every phone call Mulongoti, Nevers, RP, Magande …try you luck.
Did RB have an ambition of becoming President ?if not then lets not have ambitionless people as Presidents, they could take us behind. Opportunists should not be allowed to come in two.One should not be pushed by job seekers or bootlickers to become President.
Let us not be too close-minded. Try a compromise candidate like Wila Mung’omba. We can be sure that an RB or Magande ticket will be too divisive and risky for MMD. It will spell doom for the party. Let us wait and see. The people in the two camps are both opportunists wanting nothing but to retain their jobs. The other candidates sucg as Nvers, Kavindele, Sondashi etc do not inspire anyone – too much baggage.
Imwe osamufyenga Magande ba MMD NEC.RB was not there when MMD went through tough times. What is happening mu MMD is what happened ku Malawi when Bingu was elected as an outsider to run for ruling party,he jumped ship after the elections. After elections RB will show his UNIP colours. Dont be fooled.
Therefore, all this intra-MMD squabbling over Mwanawasa’s succession, anointed by him or not, is really academic and will have no bearing whatsoever on the outcome of the elections for the next president of Zambia besides costing a lot of MMD ass-lickers their jobs. Rupiah Banda couldn’t care less if he won or not. He will still collect his pension. So will Mwanawasa’s widow. The real losers are… you guessed it, the ordinary Zambian like you and I who yet again will have been used as mere pawns in this political game. The only certainty is that the MMD is dead. How I love the power of the vote!! What a wonderful country Zambia is!
Can some please advise us, is RB a card carying MMD member?
You chaps, you think Magande works alone? There are structures under a PS=Permanent Secretary. These structures are called Directorates, such as Macroeconomic, Planning, Budget, etc etc, comprising trained men and women, the technocrats who write and prepare speeches and briefs for the Minister and the President. So who ever becomes Presido will still rely on and read the same speeches prepared by experts. It is the same in all ministries. So don’t be cheated that a Minister alone makes and pursues an economic programme e.g the FNDP. I am a senior civil servant I know what I am talking about. So this Magande thing is just an exaggeration.
PS, you argument as good as saying: The president does not work alone therefore should not get the credit. There is the man on the street who sweeps the street, the man who delivers newspaper, the minibus driver, the workers dirt, blue white.. the managers, the Directors , YOU the PS..and the Minister… The Big Picture is that, the TOP man is the one who sets the pace and character of this labor force..this Time we are praising LPM.
Magande without reservation is one of the most successful FM without an embarrassing scandal and managing a growing economy. You will not chose Magande, but he wont be the biggest loser.. He can easily move across the boarders and be counted. ..
#61, I know of one woman in USA whose one leg was amputated.
She never ever dreamt of doing anything physcal in life.
But a friend encouraged her that she could do great staff.
She was pushed to start ice skirting. Today she is a champion of the game over people with both legs, and she is a millionare.
So it is not about being born with a dram/vision, but it is about realising that you can make it when opportunity shows up.
HK #67 Nice one Magade will move on just like any other qualified persons whose jobs might be affected with a change in the Presidency.Lets be careful of politicians who only do things just to sustain their pockets. The future of a man should not lie in ones job but the man himself.Magade wont be stuck but some people will be RB could be one of them.To be honest us zambians never take elections serious, our altitude leaves much to be desired.Because of boot lickers banda is winning though i doubt if he has an ambition for the country
68 YOU are right but i was talking of personal achievement, most the technocrats are young and banda is not touch with reality.Banda is old too old to try to achieve something for the country,he can only do that in advisory role.I was in zambia summer and i saw the man,the man already tired.lets look around
@ ADVICE,PAN AFRIKANIST,
thanks for being eloquent with the hurtful truth,
no matter how people howl about age, economic managers,UNIP membership there’s very little they can do,
come Sept 6 Rupiah Banda will be the MMD prez candidate(fairly or unfairly),
again most of you will froth and fume about that,
but again come Nov or there abouts Rupiah will be sworn in as prez,
you can riot/loot as much as you like(and ofcourse face the consequences),Fred Membe can print and publish any trash he likes but lo and behold he’s too minute an influence on this one
once more i hate to reitariate this but Rupiah Banda will be the 4th Zam prez
and all you cyber warriors better STOMACH THAT!…ok
71 you are in southAfrica and your name begins with letter N and your surname with letter B.You feeling good
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee iiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Hey fellow Zambians, I would advise most of us who are not MMD to leave this president discussion to the MMD and its executive. We can all mourn about it all we want but the NEC are the ones on the trigger up to Sept 06! We are now all behaving like cadres!
This is an irresponsible statement from an organisation that is supposed to be impartial. Maybe the The Centre for Elections and Governance (CEG)Zambia is another one of those “family” fundraising ventures.
The Boat will sink like the “Titanic”
@ Choma 1,
Hahaha…..Nice try but am not in RSA,
yeah am feeling gud,ya?
This cant be left to the MMD chaps only coz a unip member in the name of Rupiah money banda is at stake. We all know that President Mwanawasa has always appointed vice presidents from the opposition nevers, rupiah lets not count kavindele as he was imposed on him.As for lupando s appointment thats what led to have no vice president in our party MMD.The late President was playing a political ball formation which many failed to read. Its time to suffer the consequencesm,we shall not have a right right in the MMD.UNIP are celebrating and Kaunda is happy,Unip has come back under a different logo and colours. The late scored an own goal
71 short penis or spear
i have ur ip address so what are you saying?
71 short man or spear
i have ur ip address so what are you saying?
The bigger the number of those vying for MMD presidency shows how Levy failed to prepare for his departure, death or otherwise. He’s partly yo blame on this succession issue. May he rest in peace
MMD has no policies to serve the country. They achieved their aim in 1990 KK was forced to repeal the one party law. They dont have any more to offer and are now irrelevant. UNIP lost relevance in 1964 and we allowed them to rule until 1991. Do you want MMD for 20+ years? I think we can do better.
Why is it that these guys in MMD are endorsing RB who should be sitting at his farm enjoying retirement? RB is old and if he was wise he would step away from the process. That in my books would make him a better leader. He is too old and he does not need the stress of been a president. His time is up and he needs to enjoy his life with his family. This also goes with Mr. Sata. These guys have been there in government before I was born and 30 years later you still want this guys to lead us. It is hard for someone to change there habits hences the saying you can not teach an old dog new tricks. Lets rethink this my fellow zambians and lets not be afriad of change.
#36…good observation. Imagine if more than half of the prospective candidates had either been Tonga or Lozi? Undoubtedly echoes of tribalism would have been heard!!!
Bemba’s are so so so selfish pipo. They think they were born to lead others heh?Look at the pipo who’ve applied for MMD’s Presidency.Out of 17 names,11 of them are Bemba’s.
#85,you are right. You wrote exactly what ringing in my mind over Bemba’s.If it was any tribe tht had over applied to considered for MMD’s Pres, that would have been tribalism. The fact is tht Bemba’s are more tribal & selfish more than any other tribe in Zambia.
My prayers r with HH and UPND that God continues to give them direction upto state house and thru state house as they rule. When God says “YES”,no one can say “NO”.God will deliver us thru HH & UPND.
do not forget that rb was locked up for the black mamba bombings he is not to be underestimatedor thought of as toothless
It is time to have a young man in state house as it were when in 1964. Unless your history is very poor, KK did so much. Despite his just coming from fighting for freedom, he still had the vision to move Zambia to great heights with youthful vigour which some miopic zambians will only see and acknowledge when he is dead. Look at Kabila in DRC, look at Obama in the USA. Wake up Zambia. You need an economist now. None of many Zambians benefit from the issues of tribe you keep singing about. Abilities have nothing to do with race, tribe or gender but exposure. Nation building is through one Zambia one Nation and not on tribal lines that the great KK has fought against to this day.
Let us not worst time arguing who should be the next president of zambia. The fact is that whether we like or not HIS excellency Michael Chilufya Sata is coming into power. Do not worst your vote on people who just want to maintain their jobs. Lets give support a man of action who has done tremendously to this country. We do not want young people like HH who we do not even know is background. Come november, vote pa bwato!!!pa bwato!!!!!pa bwatooooooooooooooo
Sata is going to do great things to this country
Sata is coming into power.Watch out mulongoti and your fellow thieves magande, you have cleaned the natiion’s scoffers for your selfish interest while the majority of us are suffering
Editorial Comment
Rupiah, a shameless Judas Iscariot. ?????
Who has the details? Please, enlighten us!
In the same way people knowledgeable and wise ones have said our LPM should have rested following the first stroke, those that have just come out of serious illness, thanks to Morningside Clinic in South Africa, should rest or else we will have another state funeral which will be another massive expense. But for selfish reasons you are still pushing Sata to be president.Let him rest and perhaps he will live abit longer. Shame on you.
We Icibumba Go Well LPM. You meant well in most of your dealings. To error is human. But corruption is still rife in all the ministries. Of course you could not see them LPM. We need somebody else to unveil their corrupt acts.Take note, they are wearing sheep’s clothes and shedding crocodile tears. If MMD continues, they will cover things just like Chiluba nearly managed. But GOD appointed LPM to expose them.Time to expose them also has come.No better time. But we need a sound minded person to do so.The idea is to eradicate Corruption by first fighting the causes of corrupt acts. Dont vote for a dictator. You know should understand the dangers of putting a dictator into power.Look at Zimbabwe.
Forgive us we are as equaly corrupt as those we condem and point our dirty finger at.
We want a person who can protect us and our interests eg Zambian Airways, Plunder Cases (we are also plundering via our HIGH LEGAL FEES from as “MNB Legal practioners), and some other deals which we are hidden under.
Ifwe ba POST tukondema balya abatuchinga.
So Magange is our choice and that is why we have descided to BE HIGHLY UNETHICAL by openly and shamelessly and without fear to OPENLY campaign for MAGANDE.
Can someone on the blog tell us what Banda has done.
Remember that in 1991 we where all exposed foolishness
when we voted for someone we thought was a good leader not
knowing that he is a kaponya.
Firstly may the soul of LPM rest in peace. As for the next president
lets be on our knees and ask the LORD who oppoints leaders to give us
a credible leader.
I wish Zambia a peaciful rule and God’s direction. No selfishiness
will ever rule in ZED. May God bless Zambia and its next president.
RB IS NO NEUTRAL AS THEY SAY, HE’S A POLLUTED CHARACTER THEREFORE VOTE HIM OUT.
RB IS NO A NEUTRAL PERSON,HE’S A POLLUTED CHARACTER THEREFORE VOTE HIM OUT.
RB DOES NOT A CARD FOR MMD BUT UNIP
BE WISE IMWE MWEBANTU
VOTE HIM OUT
Pan Africanist! You suggeted internal elections for all parties! cool idea! but wait a sec, will King Cobra allow election is his party? Not in his lifes time!
May God almighty help us. Only one with no human blood on his/her hands will rule Zambia.
“Thinking is the greatest commodity there is,unfortunately very few engage in it”.
The Post, what is your stance in this political era called democracy?
I feel you’ve completely departed from the usual stance you were known for at birth.Or is it because you were a weed among a true grain and now the true colors have surfaced?
You take sides and try to kill other peoples legacy while promoting other equally wrong characters under the guise of transperancy.
Arrongancy and double standards do not build a nation.Just engage the commodity-“THINKING”.
yes indeed LPM is dead.mshrp. Now why are we wasting time attacking each other about tribalism. we all know that the people of Zambia will vote for a new president come November but not a tonga please these people are selfish and will create a family tree like the one we have no to hh and no to frog
Let us not be blinded by the so called “preferred” Magande. It is not true that Magande has turned the economy of this country,he is just a Minister, there are technocrats who are doing the donkey work UNSUNG HEROES, people like Dr Mulungushi.
There is no problem for LPM to have “preferred” Magande, but it a preference for MMD as a party NOT ZAMBIA. Let MMD Pick on Magande and we will show them, who the real master is ( We the Zambian people)
Yes RBB can make it though to old. Sata sick and old please no chance. HH he can make it but please let him work on the tribal tag. Too bad all the lozi big heads have taken a low profile for fear of tribal tag.. I dont believe this can happen to the Inonges, Akashas, Sibetas and Sikotas of Barotseland. Are you waiting for the perceived oil and diomond in Bulozi.. Stand up and be counted like the other tribes the time is now or never. UMODZI KU UMAWA IS WINNING THIS ON THE SLIVER PLATE.. BAUZE SHA!!
