Stay way from Zambian politics, Katumbi advised

Share

FLASHBACK: President Banda with DRC Katanga Governor Moses Katumbi at the Umutomboko ceremony in Mwansabombwe.

The Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has advised foreigners to keep away from Zambia’s political scenario.

AVAP Executive Director Bonnie Tembo has said that the Democratic Republic of Congo Katanga province Governor Moses Katumbi should be reminded that Zambia is both a Christian and Democratic nation and that no one has the right to suppress those with divergent views.

Mr. Tembo said in a democracy a strong opposition and vibrant civil society are necessary to provide checks and balances.

He said Katumbi’s remarks describing opposition leaders as making noise like empty tins is an insult to Zambia’s hard won democracy.

He added that Zambia is in an election year ad does not need foreign interference in the country’s politics.

Mr. Tembo has since advised opposition political party leaders and Zambians to dismiss the statement attributed to Mr Katumbi with the contempt it deserves.

He has further appealed to Zambians to observe law and order to ensure elections are held based on real issues and promotion of clean and peaceful campaigns.

  1. Notice how thieves tend to support it each other. We still have forgotten the US$20M you and your sidekick Chiluba stole from Zambians. They are all just common thieves.

  2. Nyamasoya just gets thieves for supporters because he is as corrupt as they are.Chiluba type, malabishi

  3. There are millions of Congolese outside Congo running away from that country. Mr Katumbi is lucky to be governor of katanga which borders Zambia. Zambia gives him this peace too. It is not Rupiahs doing, it is the zambians and this includes every stakeholder. Zambia’s peacefulness does not just come about because the president or government in power, it comes from God who works through opposition parties, both big and small, NGos, the church, the peaceful citizens, the army, airforce, and all the military wings and all the other organisations committed to the peace of our nation. So Katumbi Shut your loud mouth.

  4. Thieves support each other and a Govnment of thieves will always embrase thieves. Nyamasoya on his way to Luapula some time back this year, the plane landed in that country and some large amount of money was given to Nyamasoya for what purpose? Whatch out for these foreigners.

  5. Katumbi bring some order to your lawless, thugish country before your point your filthy mouth in our direction.

  6. Iwe Katumbi – just stay away from Zed! Just keep yourself busy with the mess in Katanga and drc. RB should not allow foreigners to make sweeping statements about our nation!!

  7. SATA = EMPTY DRUM ….THE TRUTH ALWAYS HURTS! BUT ITS TRUE. iT HAD TO TAKE A CONGOLESE TO HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD

  8. an one who has seen Sunny Chintombwa’s wife aka HH wife in public before, i just what to know pliz!

  9. Congrats Katumbi, for expressing your views and let not people criticise you. When other nationals criticise RB, some of you Kaponya’s defend them without looking at the diplomatic issue. Katumbi also has rights and respect his views for once bamambala imwe. I know, you dont have issues with Katumbi, it just hates you that he has said the truth and is not supporting your stu.pid Kaponya President

  10. Katumbi is an ***** and is governor in a run down country. he is a thief and an empty drum! lets ignore him lest he think that he is a somebody!

  11. I think DRC or best to be called Zaire, has shortage of civilized people, that is why people like Kabila can be a president, and a kabolala from Zambia can go and become a Governor in a ruins of rain-forests. He should call those Bakasai and Banyamurenge as empty drums who sounds like Koffi Olomide and Wenge Musica. Kusema-niku-taka, Zambia kusina.

  12. Do you know that Katumbi is partly Zambian? He might be a crook like many other Zambian crooks but he has a heart of Zambia. His Father is an Isrilite that settled in Congo Katanga Province, whilst his mother who was the second wife of his Father is from Mwansabombwe in Kawambwa District. If you are like me whose love for my mother will never end though she is long gone, you will appreciate why Moses Katumbi behaves the way he does. He is actually more Zambian than Congolies.

  13. If it had been the Dutch, Swede, German, or other ‘white’ ambassador saying anything, the AVAP would have been saying, ‘heed the advice’, just because they are the paymasters, but when a fellow black man speaks, they say ‘stay away from Zambian politics.’ Mr Katumbi may be Congolese, but he spent a lot of time in Zambia and contributed to the economy of Zambia for years. He is a crafty businessman, granted, but Zambia is his second home. If there had been dual citizenship, he would have been a citizen. He is related to Luapulans from antiquity, so ‘heed the advice.’

  14. What advice can this governor of a province of a failed state give to reasonable people? Only empty gongs can accept such advice at their own peril.

  15. That’s a fact ZONDA MU TONGA UZALEMA says: Mose Katumbi is a true Zambian. And I thought that was obvious. His father is Israeli foreigner resident in DRC, his mother Zambian. Need we say more?

  16. Katumbi is zambian you basterds.Ever heard of dual citizenship? He has every right to comment on anything in zambia.Get a life chi TEMBO.

  17. Katumbi you are very stu*pid! See what Congo is like? It is you who is in fact supposed to try and learn good manners from peace-loving Zambians. If your corrupt friend RB is trying to co-apt you into his thieving regime, remember that we have criminal records of you already and there are still criminal proceedings pending for you and your small-time thief friend FTJ. If you want your freedom keep your dirty ass in Katanga you foolish buffoon!

  18. Moise Chapwe Katumbi Soriano is very much a Zambian. he can comment on matters of interest to the Zambian public.

  19. much as i am not impressed with our opposition, i do not appreciate foreigners butting in this with their unsolicited advise; valid or not. this has become all too common; somehow this has become too common, first it was some ambassador advising us how to deal with the bre issue and some funny zambians from some nondescript ngo actually supporting him. you see this is what you get when you give foreigners too much respect. in zambia, you have the world at your feet if you happen to be a foreigner. i remember the time i worked in zambia; we were considered 2nd class in comparison to our expatriate colleagues to the extent that we joked about how we should leave the country, take up foreign citizenship and come back as expatriates!

  20. #1 and #2 Very true. Katumbi should first sort his house (Congo) and then give us advice. Congo and Zambia and Congo are miles apart in terms of democracy, how dare he!

How ironic is it that a country which has so much violence and injustice (especially towards women) is called Democratic Republic of Congo? What a stupid thing (naming it DR Congo) to do!

    Basopo iwe Katumbi!

  21. ZONDA MU TONGA UZALEMA and your cousin VJ rigger I thought we can’t have dual citizenship yet? Plus he is governor of Katanga Dr Congo, not Zambian so him, you bootlickers, western nations and inferiority complex individuals should just shut-up. We can’t take advice from a war mongering country unless it’s advice on how to avoid civil strife.

  22. What does katumbi and his war ravaged country know about democracy? And like, mugabe, this is the man that your president rushes to embrace for advice about governance!! For a few pieces of silver. How pathetic is that? Congo has never known democratic elections since the Belgians left. And this governor of katanga thinks he can come here and tell as who we should choose to lead us? chiluba, katumbi and now banda will one day still be held answerable for plundering this country.

  23. Like I said b4: Sens doit être pompée dans des gens comme lui qui pensent parce qu’ils sont riches ils sont envoyé par Dieu. Fous ne devrait pas être donné plus d’occasions de manipuler les masses
You bloggers saying Katumbi is Zambian since when did Katanga become our province? How can we have a Zambian governing a province in the DRC? The lengths you want to go to to win a political argument!

  24. Facts are facts Mudala and no one can change Facts. We also had a Congole as Presdo of Zambia for 10 years. Namanje tamupasa Ma billion kumanga bond. So as a revenge naise tinatuma watu to be Governer for Katanga Province whose total population is more than that of Zambia. So yankala 50/50. We had to hit back Mudala. Mwandi my friend I think its an issue of being at the right place at the right time.

  25. #30 Just use English and dont boast with your rench.
Meaning must be pumped into people like him who think they are rich because they are sent by God. Fools should not be given more opportunities to manipulate the masses

  26. Imwe ba Freeman mwilaba so easily intimidated by someone else’s knowledge… te boasting ndalanda French nalisambilile ku Sukulu. I can also speak Chibemba, Chinyanja and Silozi… and I was delivering that message to Katumbi in a language he can understand rather than Chingelezi.

  27. Then Lusaka Times removed my French part and sent me a message in French on the blog so I had to respond to them in French. Ndalumba

  28. A FOREIGNER LIKE KATUMBI HAS NO HEART FOR ZAMBIA. SOMETIMES THEY ARE JEALOUS OF THE PEACE WE ENJOY. IT WORRIES ME WHEN I SEE OUR LEADERS PARADING BEFORE UNDEMOCRATIC REGIMES JUST FOR SUPPORT.
SO VERY UNDIPLOMATIC OF KATUMBI TO INSULT OUR OPPOSITION WHICH IS PART AND PARCEL OF THE DEMOCRATIC DISPENSATION. RB COULD BE OK, BUT IS BEING MISGUIDED BY TAINTED ELEMENTS IN HIS CIRCLES. I FEEL PITY FOR THE OLD MAN.

  29. KATUMBI ( little courpse) stay away from Zambian politics, and LT we know you are MMD mouth piece but please don’t give plat forms to things like katumbi! just because he is talking about opposition.

  30. You pipo in Zed are bu fling, you call on Mr Katumbi to stay away from Zambian politics and yet bishop Duffy of Mongu has been allowed not only to involve himself in Zambian politics but to call for spillage of blood in Zambia in order to remove a legally elected government.

  31. Why allow thieves to insult us. Can government please investigate Katumbi over the US$20M. It could be part of the US$8M gift lying in ZAMTROOP account.

  32. Moses Katumbi is ZAMBIAN. His Father is an Isrilite that settled in Congo Katanga Province, his mother who was the second wife of his Father is from Mwansabombwe in Kawambwa District. If you want to know more go to Kitwe council

  33. Oh sure. Katumbi has every right to comment but certainly no right to insult anyone. Calling some one an empty tin is not commenting but attracting actual bodly harm to yourself.

  34. Iam sure you have an idea of what type of Governor Katumbi is. The man has really benefited his businesses from being in power. If you know him as being wealthy in the days when he lived in Kitwe. Then probably you have to multiply that a thousand or million times. He literally has his foot in almost every big big business in Katanga. I think he should be more worried about the coup attempts in DRC than the democracy in Zambia

  35. A tembo please nkhazikikani patontho tyala. Please don’t comment on matters that you least understand and know. This Katumbi you are despising is a son of one the Zambian women who has just found himself in Congo through and by an imaginary line created by whites. This tone of your language is scary and if you do not check it, you will find yourself in unnecessary problems.

You can get donor money by being modest and not confrontational. I have followed your strong views on some matters that make sense but at time you tend o play off-side and this is one of those off-side comments. Please moderate yourself and continue running the AVAP in peace.

  36. Some comments are in bad faith.Too much hatred in Zambia, but you talk of Zambia being peaceful, shameful basakala nyongo imwe.Developed countries respect their former leaders despite the blunders they make whilst in office. Many, so-called Zambian intellectuals suffer from superioty complexes what a shame
