Zamtel launches 60-day promo

Lap Green Group Chief Commercial Officer Hans Paulsen and President Banda
ZAMTEL has launched a 60-day “Talk-&-Talk” promotion on the Cell-Z mobile phone network that would see subscribers call for free between midnight and 06:00 hours. Customers will also enjoy seven free minutes in every 10-minute call during peak hour.

Announcing the double free talking deal, Zamtel managing director Hans Paulsen said the promotion which is effective today is in line with the company’s vision to be the most popular and affordable network in Zambia.

The new promotion will enable all Cell-Z pre-paid customers to enjoy free seven minutes after every initial three minutes call they make during peak hours on the network between 08:00 hours and 20:00 hours every day during the duration of the promotion.

In a statement in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Paulsen said his company would ensure that Zamtel products and services remained affordable and accessible countrywide.

“We are focusing on understanding each of our customers at an individual level because as a Zambian brand. We know that conversion is part of the Zambian culture and lifestyle.

“We have deliberately taken care of the need to talk longer by giving our customers the ability to talk for free during the duration of this promotion,” Mr Paulsen said.

He said the Talk &Talk promotion had been deliberately designed to give Zamtel customers the ability to remain in touch at affordable rates and to a certain extent for free.

In another off-peak deal, which forms part of the Talk&Talk campaign, Zamtel customers who use K3, 000 worth of talk time during the day, will have to call any Cell-Z or landline numbers for free from midnight to 06:00 hours the following morning.

Mr Paulsen said Zamtel was steadily progressing with its investment programme.

And in a bid to improve its retail customer touch points, Zamtel has just completed installation of state of the art fittings at the new Manda Hill flagship customer centre and plans were in advanced stages to revamp other centres country wide.

He said expansion works to the new Zamtel headquarters on Church road was near completion and staff would soon be moving.

  1. I am definately reactivating my Cell Z card which was stolen together with my phone but now the problem is that very few people are on this network which makes it difficult to use all the necessary functions otherwise, CONGRATES!

  2. Can someone assure me that we are not being part of the funders nof the Gadafi regime and family which is busy butchering their citizens for the sake of maintaining 40years grip on Libyan people and wealth.
Another worry is that Gadafi in turn will fund RB/MMD and family to continue keeping a tight grip on the Zambians using classified transactions like they did with ZAMTEL/LAPGREEN SALE.

  3. Wat the hell will I be doing after midnight? it will be extremely difficult for these guys to keep abreast because they are always behind even if they have equipment to keep afloat.I feel all the expert they have is busy just making money for themselves as opposed to being innovative enough.Hard lucky guys am sure you are reading between the lines, the market is dynamic and requires quick thinking.

  4. Let’s see what is happening in Zamtel:

    MD fires Technical Director
    MD fires Finance Director
    MD fires Internal Auditor
MD replaces all 3 above with his fellow Ugandans

Marketing Director Amon Jere is an overgrown pig with no respect for anyone and treats his team like trash

HR Director Eve Msidi is constantly flouting labour laws and placing people on 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year and 3 year contracts. Has duped staff from Airtel and MTN into believing they’ll be getting a better deal but no…….

Scratch cards now being made in Uganda by a company linked to the MD

    That’s what’s happening in Zamtel

  5. Whose is charge of marketing at Zamtel, how do you expect people to call after 24 hours?……. very few or none, Zamtel should rethink their marketing strategies ……. MTN has Tuesday Njikata that allows subscriber to enjoy five free minutes on tuesday, wednesday and thursday anytime of the day. Airtel has the Magic Number Promotion that offer 60 minutes every day that can enjoyed any time of the day… then Cell Z free talking from 24 hours -06 hours… what a joke, Zamtel work up or else you continue losing market shares……came up with promotions or marketing incentives that subscribers are likely to enjoy and easily access (that is within normal subscriber activity hours and not when people are sleeping)

  6. Marabish, who will stay awake at mid night just to make a call. Be like MTN they give free minutes during the day.And who will wake up before 06hrs and start chating with half asleep people. employ proper marketers for your business.Viva Tuesday ngikata, talk for mahara.

  7. Zamtel,i thought you guys after pouching the creamy marketers from Airtel and MTN you will above your competitors.Shame on you marketers at Zamtel who are “refusing to think” when you have all the necessary skills to transform Lap green.Amon Jere ideology is making you sound DULL!!!

  8. The people of Zambia cried and were very much against the sale of Zamtel to Gaddafi and now the rot and evil by foreigners at that company has started to hound Zambians. What #7 has revealed must be taken seriously, it makes me sick, forget about the so called offer of free calls at midnight. Zambia is in the hands of foreign crooks and criminals.

  9. # i see no problem with zamtel making scratch cards in Uganda by that named company. That is if information is true . this is a private company for as long as they are delivering to us the customers then no problem.

  10. #7 i see no problem with zamtel making scratch cards in Uganda by that named company. That is if information is true . this is a private company for as long as they are delivering to us the customers then no problem

  11. LapGreen Gadaffi. The UN is slowly freezing Libyan money laundering ventures. Hope Zamtel parent company Lapgreen is not on the ladar. Zuma has acted sensibly by freezing Evil Gadaffi SA assets.

  12. LAP green is part of LAAICO which is a tool used by Gaddafi to invest his money. Countries like RSA have put on a freeze on moneis leaving the country as long as it is a LAAICO related company. I wonder why our govt is silent on this. Africans are so divided thats why dictators continue to rule us forever. While the US and europe have put a squeeze on Gaddafi, Africans are still deciding in the mean time Gaddafi is massacaring his people. Why cant we ask RB s stand on Gaddafi as opposed to making noise about gays and lesbians

  13. This is the worst promo. No benefit at least if the free minutes could not expire if not used at all. Zamtel mwa itaya you will not reap anything from this. Go back to the bonus at least it encouraged us to top up. I sleep at 21hrs and wake up after 6!!

  14. I don’t know what the government thinks about Zamtel with what is going on in Libya and the freezing of Libyan assets in the South. LAP Green Network is part a part of the Libya – Africa Investment Portfolio (LAP) which is a Libyan foreign investment vehicle and Gaddaffi and his son have a huge share in this.

  15. Gaddaffi’s sons also bought Millennium Village in Lusaka after the AU conference, shouldn’t the government be doing something about Millennium Village and Zamtel? All the money that these two business are bringing in are funding the war in Libya.

But i guess the government cant do much because Gaddaffi funds most ruling parties in Africa including the MMD

  16. Hello Guys,

About Lap Green yes it’s mother Investment arm headed by Gaddafi’s son owns Zamtel, and will be affected eventually by the EU and UN fund freeze order. Their recruitment drive was a mess. Alot of MTN & Airtel employees rejected offers when they realised Mr Jere would be at the helm, this is a fact. Other than that the package offers were below industry averages.
