The Patriotic Front has called for fresh negotiations with the United Party for National Development over the future of the UPND/PF pact.
Sources have revealed to QFM that PF president Michael Sata this week met with UPND president Hakainde Hichilema to see if they can still work together.
Mr. Sata is said to have complained to the UPND president that some people close to him were advising him wrongly on the issue of the PACT.
The PF president is said to have written to the UPND requesting to have a fresh look at the electoral alliance of the two biggest political parties in the country.
Yesterday, senior members of the UPND met to discuss the letter written by the PF.
The UPND meeting which was held at the party’s secretariat and lasted for more than 9 hours resolved to give the PF conditions in order to enter into an alliance again.
The sources explained to QFM that the UPND will keep its doors open as long as the PF accepts the set out conditions.
Among other conditions include the economic agenda of the PACT government and the sharing of the government positions equally.
QFM news has also been told that UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has no problem with being the vice president as long as the most important issues concerning the nation are agreed upon.
Efforts to get a comment for the two camps failed by press time.

MMD SPENDS K25 BILLION TO BREAK PACT
The MMD via a special State house monitored task force has spent K25 billion since beginning of the year on activities to disrupt cohesion in the Pact. The scheme seems to be yielding dividends going by the latest events in the Pact that is on the verge of collapse.
This special task force is headed by the party’s chief whip Vernon Mwanga and assisted by state house presidential aid Austin Sichinga.
The money has been used to pay chiefs in Southern province to threaten to disown HH if he remains in the Pact. The chief led by Mwanachingwala and Mukuni have netted about K500m each plus a car of their choice. Chief Mukuni is since ever in Lusaka driving past Arcades and Manda hill malls in his latest BMW 7 series.

The UPND troika have been promised another K2 Billion each if they can deliver UPND to partner with MMD. The exchange of cash usually happens at Arcades car park between 8 and 10 pm when Pajeros and Landcruisers park side by side.

To say i have been ill advised casts doubt on the judgement of the leader who appointed the advisors. Ultimately the decision is the leaders, so in this regard, i am afraid Sata has shown a serious lack of leadership and very poor judgement.
I am a supporter of the pact becuase i believe there could be synergistic benefits to HH and Sata working together, which would not be there if either one of them was soley in charge. The two Political parties in the now defunct opposition alliance have continued with their squabbles.
The Patriotic Front (PF) has now accused the former partner party, the UPND, of undermining the alliance.
Just last week, the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema also accused the PF of being responsible for the demise of the pact.

It will be very difficult for HH to accept this PACT. However, he may choose to enter into negotiations and not PACT first, then negotiate later. While this will present a real challange to HH, there is also a real opportunity for the PACT to come up with a very good manifesto to rival that of the rulling party. The other opportunity is that HH now knows the people he would be dealing with should he decide to come back to the marriage of inconvenience.The old wine into a new bottle does not make the old wine new. Meaning that these guys will not suddenly wake up to be new guys with fresh ideas. Power struggle, the thirsty for plot 1 has not disappeared overnight. Fact is Sata is in politics by choice and not for financial opportunism like your HH. Sata enjoys his political life with the goal to serve Zambia. Therefore the PACT simply works in the interest of MMD.
I say so because of the following scenarios:
1) If the PACT fails, neither PF nor the UPND has enough capacity to with the elections alone.
(2) If the PACT worked out, then two scenarios can arise, either:
a) HH becomes prident: this leads to disorientation of Lusaka and Copperbelt which would loose most voters to MMD. The same would apply for Northern and Luapula, 95% would drift to MMD
b) SATA becomes prident: this would cause Southern province, Western Province, N/Western province and most of Central province, including Lusaka Rural to drift to MMD.
Both scenarios under (2) would give an enomous advantage to MMD wich would win elections by over 60% Vote.

Look, in the event that PF and UPND go separate ways the likely scenerio is that PF will still carry Lusaka, CB, Luapula, Northern and a significant part of Central. UPND and Magande will share Southern and North-Western. Milupi will take it all in Western. MMD will get eastern and a part of Central. So, when you do your math, who wins?? If UPND and PF form a pact, UPND will just be enjoying a free ride becoz they will not bring much votes with them (just one and a half province if not less).
In essence PF, as things stand now has the potential of routing MMD in this year’s elections.
Magande is insignificant in politics even in his own area, Chilanga was a mere advantage of the MMD ticket just like most PF MPs in Lusaka.
Milupi will not risk standing for presidencial elections, but rather as an MP on his party ticket. So no threat to MMD.
SATA will take LSK, CB, Luapula, Northern and a significant part of Central. This he has always done so it makes no difference. After all someone warned us of doing the same thing yet expecting different results. If Sata has taken these areas always and he takes them again so what?
People want to behave like politicians who want to be told what they want to hear, even if it is not what is on the ground. If I say by analysis MMD will win elections, what makes you think I support MMD? We can choose to close our eyes to reality.
