Costern Chilala was Levy’s preferred candidate

Share

Chief Mwanachingwala of the Tonga people in Mazabuka district has argued that the late President Levy Mwanawasa did not prefer Finance Minister, N’gandu Magande to succeed him but a prominent Mkushi farmer, Costern Chilala

The chief told ZANIS in Mazabuka today, that the truth of the matter was that the late President preferred prominent Mr. Chilala to be take over from him.

He claimed that Mr. Magande was also aware of this fact.

Chief Mwanachingwala argued that Mr. Magande was far from being preferred by the President, adding that the late Dr. Mwanawasa, who he regarded as a friend, confided in him.

The traditional ruler said Mr. Chilala could attest to his statement.

The traditional leader also disclosed that the late President Mwanawasa had appointed Mr. Chilala as Vice President but the latter turned down the appointment, saying he was comfortable with his business.

Meanwhile, Chief Mwanachingwala has maintained that most chiefs in the province have thrown their weight behind Vice President and Acting President Rupiah Banda as MMD presidential candidate in the bye-election.

The chief however felt betrayed by his counterpart, Chief Nalubamba whom he said was one of those who earlier declared his support for Mr. Banda.

” He wanted me to make an appointment for him to meet the Vice President in Lusaka so why did he deny that most chiefs, including him are in support of RB,” asked chief Mwanachingwala.

Chief Mwanachingwala said the endorsement of Mr. Banda by the MMD Southern province executive committee was enough testimony of the overwhelming support the acting President has in the province.

He challenged Chief Mukuni to state his position and publicly announce the candidate he was supporting.

He said certain political decisions have negative impact on the living conditions of people especially those in rural areas.

Chief Mwanachingwala added that it was the duty of chiefs to help give direction of the country to the public.

  1. This is now comedy, every can now claim that LEVY chose them to succeed, how funy PA Z,Tibwela claimer na ife ka,kuoneka chapwalala uko manje

  2. This is the problem of discussing private information concerning the dead. Who is now telling the truth – Maureen or chief Mwanachingwala? These people should all grow up and forget about what our beloved President would have wished or liked. He is not there to state his position, so what should it matter now? Let us be real and deal with the real issues as we see them now. Zambia ought to live beyond our departed President and many more individuals who would have contributed in their ways. All these claims are aimed at preserving one’s interests and both Maureen and the chief are in the same boat – protecting their interests.

  3. Uko uko… awe naine im having a press conference mailo… nati ba Levy came to me in my dream ati inkateke ichalo…

These chaps think they can take zambians for a ride ka…

  4. forget politics- E-mail doing rounds in lsk of Cynthia kanema, that she has done more than 200 men in zed just to name a few like MR R.MFULA, BERTS NAUYAMBE,CHARLES MILUPE,MYLES SAMPA,JOSEPH MWEWA,FRANCIS MUSONDA,JOE BANDA,LARRY SIKUTA,CHISA FOLOTIYA and
SENARD . And that her local name is million cunt since her price tag is a million zmk and screwed her way to most beauty pageants crowns. The person who wrote the e-mail says if any lady is missing her husband to check by cynthia,s home at 6046 sibweni road northmed. Is this story true?

  5. MWE BANTU,KANSHI WATS REALLY GOING ON PA Z,SO MANY ARE CLAIMING TO EVEN HAVE EMAILS FROM LPM,THIS IS GOING TO BE A CRISIS IN MMD,BESIDES IT WILL BE AMONG THEMSELVES,THEY ALL SEAM TO BE LIKE CARNIBALS,THEY WILL EAT EACH OTHER,HOW FUNNY

  6. Arent chiefs supposed to be neutral when it comes to politics?
The many people in their chiefdoms have different political affiliations. This chief has been too much kusabaila also, he behaves like he is Teta’s relative!

  7. Mwanachingwala is than the post, because he is flexible. They both believe in the spirit of heritage concerning democracy.
Why can people ask others who they prefere and start discussion.
Why are they using the late president.
They want to scare those who believe in myths.

  8. IMWE! It is immaterial WHO Levy prefered. That was just an opinion of one person. This country belongs to millions who must all have a say in the leader they want. Prescribing leaders for us has already proven disastrous because it is done with sinister motives. The problem we have in Zambia is that even when evidence of stupidity about our leaders is clear, we get people who give leaders FALSE ppraises. If we are sincere, Levy was NOT SELFLESS but extremely selfish and nepotistic. His relatives, qualified or not are littered all over the world as Ambassadors. Is this being selfless. So, all those words about Levy from Maureen were totally shameless, insincere and an insult to Zambians.

  9. Chiefs are not allowed to take part in partisan politics. Mwanachingwala need to be arrested and charged accordingly or stripped of Chieftainship so that he is free to jin a party of his own Choice.

  10. #16 BA UZE MWANA,YOU ARE RIGHT,KAFUPI SINGLE HANDEDLY CHOSE LPM,AND LPM WAS GOING TO DO IT ALONE BY CHOSING MAGANDE,THIS IS A PROBLEM, WE ALL KNOW WHO GOT GUD JOBS THE FAMILY TREE,THIS TIME DONT ALLOW IT A LEADER SHOULD BE CHOSEN BY THE PEOPLE,NO MORE OF PREFFERED CHOICES BY ONE MAN,LETS MOVE FORWARD,WE VOTE THIS TIME

  11. Guys stop all this Drama about who LPM preferred.for youur own infomation he preferred me”Umuntu Mutwe” over all those peole you are mentioning.

    Viva Umuntu Mutwe..

  12. Let us be objective. The mounting confusion in the MMD over the issue of succession is an indication of Levy’s failure as a leader. Competent leaders do their homework and do not leave behind such confusion. If people were given jobs on merit, you would not have this level of confusion and opportunism among leaders. So, in painting Levy as selfless and suing all those lofty expressions, people are not being sincere. For example, Maureen’s speech was completely off the mark because she was not being sincere. Rather than be humble and leave this game to others, she shamelessly took us through all that false information. The message came out as if Zambia belonged to her and we owed her someth

  13. MMD is headed for demise if this senseless nonsense is not stopped immediately – are they serious about regaining plot 1. do they think HH or Sata will let them get away with it sure? let us be serious pa Zed. stop this circus at once ba MMD pliz twapapata bane. God help us…

  14. pa last this preferred successor story is all bullocks! if LPM (MHSRIP)had found a successor as a patriot to this nation he wud have told us in gud time now that his GONE these Judas guys want to take Zambians for granted…In the end we might have another Kenya or Zimbabwe…carefull guys we are watching you political hienas

  15. What is this nonsense about Levy’s preferred successor? The Zambian constitution provides for the Zambians to elect a president;it has no provision for the president to handpick a successor. We have a consitution to follow and no one is above it, not even the president.Regardless of who LPM wanted to succeed him,the people had the final say.LPM was not as popular as the MMD wants to portray it.In both the elections he won with less than 5o% of the votes, so what convinces them that his preferred candidate was going to be an automatic sail through? We owe LPM nothing as Zambians save for his gratuity and we are therefore under no obligation to please him whatsoever and the issue of betrayal

  16. ctd from 24….as some circles are trying to impute is pure stinking nonsense. On the contrary LPM owed us Zambians everything. We didnt have an obligation to believe him either as wrongly claimed by the wife but instead he needed to prove each and everyday to that he was worthy of the job and more so to prove practically his claims.Faith and blind loyalty isnt what I expect from Zambians if we are to develop.I wish people could bring their heads around and accept and respect that its the Zambians who have to choose their preferred leader(s).Its sad that for seven years he never took time to groom a person who could have won favour in the eyes of the Zambians. If he was grooming someone he

  17. #16 and #24 Wiseman and Einstein, Your analyses of all the issue is very mature. I only hope all the other Zambians could see it the way you have expressed. Really it does not matter what LPM preffered for a succesor. The all mantle lies in the voters which the constitution provides for. How many times are we going to repeat that Zambia is not a monarchy where the incumbert should single out his succesor?

Let MMD NEC choose whoever they want to contest the presidency be it Constain Chilala, Brian Chituwo or indeed the young man Cain “Bungwe” Mweemba but what matters is how the electrorates will vote.

But the big advice however is that, lets do away with the MMD.

  18. ctd from 25…. needed to tell us openely so that the Zambians could have had an opportunity to scrutinize the candidate anyway and not keeping it as some pillow talk of some kind.LPM was a product of corruption and he demonstrated it through out his leadership. There is no difference between corruption involving money and any other forms of corruption.LPM and FTJ are just the same and he admittd that the only difference between them was that him was a disciplinarian.Levy katushe.I wont praise you just because you are gone,no,no,no.Zambia needs a far less corrupt leader now.

  19. Sour grapes chief mwanachingwala we know what you and your fellow UNIPIST Munkombwe have been doing in Souther Province, if you want respect chief stop lying through your teeth period, Magande should go on whether or not he was Levy’s preference. He has more integrity than you Mwanachingwala who found yourself there by way of inheritance.

  20. People, I have an announcement to make. All those claiming such things are lying. I was the preferred one – the chosen one!

Haha, ok back to serious business. All such claims can only be proven thru a written and signed statement by LPM himself.

Oh I’m told LPM’s farewell message to the Zambian people will be read from his Will on ZNBC TV after the main News. This might give us a hint.

I’m off to the TV room. Catcha later!

  21. #31 It doesn’t matter who Levy preffered if thats the hint you want to hear from Levy’s farewell msg to the Zambians. Read Wiseman’s and Einstein’s inputs and you will appreciate that, thats the way we should see things and proceed.

  22. True that, thez no mention of who should succed him…. its just a straight forward message wishing us well, so can people stop claiming

  23. This is becoming a joke. Now all of a sudden, everyone is claiming to be LPM’s confidant. Everyone just needs to shut up and let the democratic process take it’s course. Twanaka naimwe ba mambala

  24. we have just the will of the late president on tv and radio, where did you get the claim that he preferred a certain individual? TAmuli fye nangu cimo. Stop lying bonse imwe.

  25. AHH IMWE.. DAMM….. I CALLED IN AT WORK TO LISTEN TO THIS TAPE AND THATS ALL HE HAD TO SAY .. WAS BE SAFE AND FAREWEL!!!! AH IM OFF TO WORK …

  26. #37
He did say something just not what we where thinking he states how he has worked had to improve the economy and zambian peoples lives and how dissappointed he is with some of his cabinate official who still choose to empress corruption

  27. I have also read in other headings were Mrs Mwanawasa in her eulogy to the late husband has spoken of him having left a will. This is were we have to be careful. To me her euology has been spoiled by the presentation in it of the will whose writer supposedly to be the late president Mwanawasa knew not the time of his death.Whatever the contents, however good they may be cabinet must not disclose them for government will not run on the will of each and every president but the will of the people. However if the will is to the Zambian people it is most well come but it must not have waited for cabinet approval she should have said it right there. The marks of disturbance begings from here.

  28. Basically said he had tried his best in uplifting the standards of people in Zed, he knows that he may have stepped on people’s toes and asked for forgiveness……

  29. he was a great man and very organized….what he has left is a legacy for young men and women who want to take up the challenges. At-least now we have a role model….People see beyond what the politician are saying, prepare yourselves for leadership of integrity and committment

  30. What games are these now?

    By-election is expensive -Kalumba
The MMD is talking to various political parties to find ways of avoiding a presidential by-election.

MMD National Secretary, Katele Kalumba, says this is because the exercise is expensive.

Dr. Kalumba said in Lusaka, Thursday, that it will be costly for the country to spend 400 billion kwacha on the by-election.

Dr. Kalumba, without naming the political parties the MMD has engaged, said the ruling party is discussing with Secretary Generals to look at available options.

He urged the opposition and Non Governmental Organizations with ideas on how the country can move forward without getting into an election to eng

  31. to engage the MMD.

Dr. Kalumba called on stakeholders to think seriously on how the country can move forward as one family.

He however said the MMD is ready to go into the presidential by-election if money to hold the election is available.

Dr. Kalumba further urged stakeholders in the electoral process to be mindful that the country will be holding tripartite elections in 2011.

Zambia is expected to hold a presidential by-election following the death of president Mwanawasa on August 19.

According to the republican constitution, the country is supposed to hold a by-election 90 days after the demise of a sitting president.

  32. Is Katele the right person to talk about national Finances? He is a party secretary general and has no govt position as far as I know.

  33. Cstain Chilala for president, he would be better than anybody else, he is very experienced educated and he is a Tonga upright man…. Tonga Bulls stand up…. Cindi Casika

  34. In Democracy there should be no such sentiments that Katele is making To prove that we are a democratic state we let the people decide. Beside the UK and the US have offered help for us to conduct election though i do not like the idea of us always looking to the west for aid

  35. Do not blame the man for this it was done with good intetions to show what the man was working with the problem is the politicians who are trying to make a big deal out of it. He knew his health was not upto the job but he put it on the line so we can learn from it. for example Had Jesus still been alive how many do you think would still believe that he was the son of God.When he past many believed and continued with his work Sorry if this example offends anyone. But if Levy was alive today we would still call him cabbage and all sorts of names but now that he is dead we realize that he meant well for Zambia GOD Bless

  36. Levys will has just aired on Q-FM. it has no name of a prefered candidate. MA ma!! Lelo lelo!! Did any of you guys hear on the radio how teta finished former first lady? my God- that guy?

  37. ZAMBIANS ZAMBIANS KEEP debating until you debate no more…mark my words..Since HH and SATA will go it alone..RB will definately win with a slight majority. Looks like RB is the Next President of Zambia…i dare anyone to challenge me. The only thing that can stop RB is a combined HH SATA Ticket.

  38. Ba 50. Ban2… it was recorded in 1995. it has just been aired on Q-FM. it has no prefered candidate. Go to Q-FM they are replaying it.

  39. Please dont accuse Levy of things he never have said.Even if he said them it is immaterial.Levy was a democat and all of us know about this.Lets not listen to innuendos about what he said.I know he loved democracy and therefore prefered the zambian people to choose who they wanted from his cabinet or otherwise.Of course he could have wanted someone who is selfless and committed to serving our country to his best ability
#16 if you are not careful you willbe misled into believing what any one wants to say about Levy.Dont hate the man he did his best for the country. You argue about his appointments but no one shouted chiluba to be nepotistic when he appointed bembas and even zaireans

  40. So …IF HH and SATA do not unite and RB wins they should not complain about rigging…actually they will be buried politicaly

  41. If HH and Sata team up then loose do you know that this will lead to both party going into oblivion because come 2011 they will want to stand as indivivual and that would be confusing to the electorate

  42. who ever takes up da hot seat, i dnt care as long as it is not rupia banda. That guy first of all is too old then he has no morals, how does a 72 year old mary a 27 year old! In zambia? That guy was 45 wen she was bein born. First lady whom i can even call iwe! Awe twakana.

  43. Too much drama pa Z….why cant all these fools shut.we sick and tired of hearing whom LPM chose as the next candidate. Is it becoz the dead cannot answer you that is why you are now taking them for granted?? Stop the nonsense coz God will judge you for whatever is coming out of stupid mouths.Just elect your MMD candidate and be ready for take off…..

  44. Ati Zambian airways owes national airports corparation 1.6 point chakuti million dollars in parking and other fees. Those tuma disrespectful editorials will cost them the airline. The nchito brothers messed up in teaming up na fred m’membe. Sure! You will remember my words. Watch this space.

  46. No 60 you are right…. we called LPM all sort of names when he was alive more espcially cabbage. Pipo mocked him so much that at one time he even quoted them that they were saying that he was a cabbage and that he would die while still in power.LPM couldn’t have died so early is it was not for his selfish wife who wante to continue being called first lady. She forgot about putting her husband health first and children. We hope she has no plans of being an active politician

  47. I am very disappointed with Mwanachingwala. How can he just make up a story like that. He has no morals and he should be dethroned.

  48. He also preferred my Dad. He confided in my dad and promised that dad would move into State House after LPM’s retirement to Palabana farm.

  49. That ain’t true. Dr. Mwanawasa called from France and spoke to my father. He said he wanted him to lead the Zambian people. Therefore my dad is the right heir to the throne, not all these kwangalas coming up.

  50. People are trying to divert our attention. Lets stay focused …infact tomorrow we should take a trip down memory lane at the pubs and reflect on the good deeds of the late. Yes, he did some bad things bad they are consumed by the MANY good things he did and achieved.

Bushe is Room 101 open tomorrow?

  51. I always wonder why dad doesnt want us to go back to Zambia. He always compares zambia to something he calls property grabbing. That people will sharpen their hands in readiness grab his property and title. This situation describes it well.Grown cant just sit down and reason together. So they push and pull and eventually kill us all in the process.Shame on you Zambians, am going to unpack my bags and stay in Canada forever

  52. Now i know that Maureen was controlling levy. she seems to be the president in disguise.
i dont understand what type of a lawyer she is who can vividly fail to read what the constitution says about the president of the republic of zambia. surely levy was a constitutional lawyer yet maureen claims he wanted magande to suceed him, RUBBISH

  53. Now i am begining to think levy died the very day he was air lifted to france. Maureen mourned and may be thats why she has been extraordinarily strong as though te mukamfwilwa. remember mike rose up to tell sata that he cant go to paris. bishop mpombo said no to the pictures, mambo said no to revealing the medical bill. so this could have been the time they were embalming him for the rigorous tour the body made around zambia.

  54. no 10- i m laughing so hard as that is very true about cynthia kanema.it was a matter of time it was going to be in the open apparently she is a strip show queen.i know some details as i m very good friends with senad´s ex who is happily married to a Norwegian now.

  55. Mama tata, what kind of nosense is this from the whole chief. He was RB now he is for Austin. Why didnt u tell Chilala immediately? In anycase, leave the farmer alone. He is doing justfine as a farmer and not to be presido material, awe. Seems you have interest to protect also. Why dont you emulate the Litunga, he is quite. Is it the big car you are driving you are trying to protect? Probably you are the ‘unidentified’ presido candidate Mulongoti is talking about. Just concentrate on harmonizing the MWCA by giving the authority more land that you were trying to grab or have grabbed from them. Dont be an embarrasment to the chiefdom. When did chiefs become political?

  56. Utu tu Ms Zambia nitwa chabe. Starting from Elizabeth Mwanza (1992) going down the line to today, they are all on sale. Now its Cynthia Kanema?

  57. IFI FYABUPUBA MWATAMPA.FTJ CHOSE LEVY.LEVY CHOSE RB.MAUREEN CHOSE MAGANDE.NOW COSTERN CHILALA MENTIONED BY A CHIEF MWANACHINGWALA…..
AMA VOTE SOON WILL LOSE VALUE PA ZED.

  58. Pamo nga Headman/ Village Headman so to speak, I say, all those talking about preferences of Mwanawasa, sideline them as people with private political agendas Period. Zambians cannot be fooled again. Zambians have matured over the time to handle their own affairs. Becasue even me I can stand up and say Mwanawasa preffered Michael Sata as his successor. Stop all this charade twapapata…… I am still to talk………….

  59. Some of these people?
This is the chief who ascended to power illigitmately, who wanted to sale part of his chiefdom to wwwf for wild animals, wanted to sale land ealier this year to some indians(in the name of investors) to grow sugar canes, Obtained a lot of second hand tractors and cars from zambia sugar before there relationship went sour(in the name of helping the needy in his area),Got away with some donated cars from the chiluba government(ask chiluba). He owned a few inherited riches in his early stages of life which are no-more(instead has goats now). The same person is now trying to earn money from other people by sending his wives acussing pipo like (Ba munyeeme, my grand)haamunje?

  60. fellow zambians i believe our late L.P.M put all this successor talk to an end last nite cos clearly in his will he did not have any successor .

  61. i was almost falling into moleens trap when she said in her eulogy that we will know if the people of zambia will honour his will after its reading. But honestly speaking that was done in march 2005.besides that there was absolutely nothing that talked about who to succeed him.
a lot of these people have to be arrested for false witness.who the hell does katele think he is for all i care he can disappear and be invisible for the rest of his life(he must be experienced in disappearing)when did he become electoral commision or finance minister.do these pipo think we dont know they are heavily campaigning?

  62. …What is he now?a politician, a thief, or what? And now he starts making noise trying to talk about this chilala issue. He still wants to enjoy the ride he had above the law in Levy’s time.Levy even gave him imunity;ask mazabuka police. These are the people who can mislead the nation. Why do they even have access to the media and make such stupid coments? Tell this chief that c.chilala wants his money back that he borrowed some time back, not this force endorsment.
Let all his cases be delt with now that he can nolonger lick the boot. Minstry of home affairs stop sitting on those papers, you have nothing to fear now, let the law takeover.

  63. Here is what is the Post: “The late President Levy Mwanawasa has thanked all those who joined his family to mourn his passing away””. …

I don’t have details..but surely…the Post Newspaper is gone bananas!!!!!!

  64. next this useless chief will tell us that he was the preferred candidate. i wish he could restrict his comments. he is the only chief so far who is politicking. why cant he resign and join the RB campaign. i dont like useless leaders who just talk trash.

  65. So this Tonga chap is indebted to Costern Chilala and now knowing that LPM is gone, it’s time for him to pay back, decided to start playing monkey tricks? Just face it you Tonga BULL! #102, You seem to have info, is this same chi chief facing some charges as well? It appears such assertions are only from a desperate person.

  66. Zambian politics are very interesting.
At the moment they are a blend of chiefdom/kingdom principles and democratic principles.
Chiefs have a great influence on a very large electorate.
Now, even though they are expected to be neutral unfortunately their is no law that burns them from commenting on politics. It is a mere logical expectation from society. As a result they continue to express themselves. You must understand me here, that i am not saying their involvement is good but that is what is obtaining.
Politicians, therefore, need to fully be aware of this scenario find democratic ways of dealing with to better position themselves to their own advantage. Reality must not be ignored.

  67. #103. Pan Africanist: Dind’t you watch what was televised on ZNBC immediately after the main news? It’s not that the Post is going bananas, the late LPM’s will was televised on TV. He tanked all those who joined his family in mourning him. He asked for all those who could have been offended in his quest to bring development to this country, to forgive him and realize that he did not do out of malice.

  68. #103…give me your email and i will send you the details. apparently mwanawasa recorded a video as part of his will addressing the nation. i have the article so send your email

  69. mwebo sure has zambia sank so low in lack of leadership that we are now made to believe anyone who can run a kantemba can run a country? Eyo tufwile twatontonkanyapo- This constern chilala who has proof he weas the prefered choice maybe i might as well get up and also start claiming that LPM prefered me i want to believe his choice was just that his opinion and therefore as custodians of this country we also have the right to a choice and we can chose a leader of our liking. Lets stay sharp Ba Zambia vote wisely

  70. Pipo……are levy’s wishes God’s Will? Let God’s will prevail. Anybody can have wishes like we all do but those are just wishes for crying out loud.

  71. Chief ,you an embarassment mudala…pliz keep your tail down…what happens if your Zimbabwean RB loses the elections and someone else wins?you are a very shameless chap…

  72. chief mwanacha….tile and #58 you dont know costen chilala.Go to Mkushi and Kapiri-Mposhi police stations and check is record. if what the chief is saying is true then i now believe levy was indeed a cabbage, becuase as president of zambia he should have know the evil side of chilala.By the way has he cleared himself with the 26 cases the human rights commission heard, against in in Mkushi?

  73. why do you behave like a kapaso or a cadre?are you real chief or you manipulated your way through to get the kingship?i doubt if its your clan that chose you…

  74. chief mwanacha….tile and #58 you dont know costen chilala.Go to Mkushi and Kapiri-Mposhi police stations and check his record. if what the chief is saying is true then i now believe levy was indeed a cabbage, becuase as president of zambia he should have know the evil side of chilala.By the way has he cleared himself with the 26 cases the human rights commission heard, against him in Mkushi?

  75. #106 Chilala is said to be a stinking rich farmer. He is said to be an upright man with good morals and hardworking. Not that am tonga but thats the info I have about him, maybe we choose someone who already has his own money, what do yout think?

  76. We can confirm receipt of an email from a state house source that LPM wanted Sata to replace him that is why he did everything possible to save his life. So Sata was the preffered man to take over from LPM.We hope this will put an end to speculation as to who was the prefferred person. Thank you

  77. Morleen,do you now see the fallout from your “anoiting” nonsense.Your political career has ended before it can start!I really dont care who succeeds LPM as long as he puts a lid on “Chibombo qualifications’ for one to work in an embassy or to become a general.

  78. its just confusing now,,,i would love to hear what the zambians themselves are saying.instead of listening to cadres and politicians declaring thier support for certain chaps who do not even derseve to be in power

  79. Please people, any infor on this Costern Chilala!!! These people are just wasting space on this web to write about what this chingwala chief thinks. If LT has so much space, they should ask some of us also to go and submit “whom we think” LPM preffered to take over from him.

POST NEWSPAPER, we are aware of your skims to bring down RB and boost up YOUR PREFFERED DULL MAGANDE. Everyone thinks that Magande has all the brains in finance and economics, all the speeches and budget reports he brings to the people are always prepared for him by his intelligent permanent secretaries, economists and accountants at ministry of finance. Magande was just as well picked from nowhere by LPM.

  80. elo lwanya nomba bane!!! Corsten Chilala??!!! the chap should just concentrate on his farming. Elo this ka chief..since when did he become LPM’s confidant for him to have the info that Corsten was LPM’s preferred candidate?? its all just nonsense if you ask me.

    Off topic..#10 znn…
i’ve received that email from two different sources though am not too sure how credible the info is..i intend to investigate further though..i will share my findings with you.

  81. Why are some pipo worshiping the dead. Let the will of God prevail. We don’t want to see what happened when FTJ hand picked Levy, and eventually made FTJ suffer. Another one if hand picked he might torment the Levy family. Let the Zambian people through the almighty Lord choose there own.

  82. what if i aslo went on air and procalim that LPM annointed me!would you belive me?becoz even Sondashi the healer would one day say that!!let’s vote in the next 70 days and see which fool takes it up…

  83. I think this issue of succession has been blown out of proportion. Firstly we need to look at the matter at hand. Levi’s preferred successor only applies to the one earmarked to take over the leadership in MMD. This person to me is not an Automatic choice for the Zambian Presidency. He has to compete with other Presidential candidates from other political parties. At the end of the day it’s us the Zambians to choose who we want.
The point I am making here is that Let them “MMD zealots” restrict the issue of who Levi wanted to succeed him to themselves. For now this is an MMD issue not a national issue. Let them choose their Man or Woman who will only became a national issue when he/she stan

The point I am making here is that Let them “MMD zealots” restrict the issue of who Levi wanted to succeed him to themselves. For now this is an MMD issue not a national issue. Let them choose their Man or Woman who will only became a national issue when he/she stands in the bye elections.
Zambia will not be fooled by anyone’s pronouncements whether a relative, Chief or close ally to the late President.
    Viva Zambia

  85. Maureen, please keep your dignity by keeping queit and mourn your husband in peace.
Akuna mbelwa who talks like you.
people can not respect you at the rate you are going.
Just remember that though you were the first Lady there is a way to behave when you are mourning culutural and spiritual.
Go back to your roots and you will save yourself all this trouble of people talking bad about you when they are supposed to comfort you.
May God keep you close to his heart during this trying moment.

  86. I guess i was also his prefered successor.Icimpapwishekofye cakwebati, ine nshamonako president who is appointed to lead,we vote, tebu vice tulelandapo…this is plot 1,pa zedie ma elections madalaz.

SO NOMATA HOW MUCH U SAY U WER PREFERED,IT IS JUST VANITY,A CHASING AFTER THE WIND IF THE ZAMBIAN PIPO DO NOT PREFER U.LEKENI KUBEPESHA BA LEVY,LET HIM REST UMOBAPITENE MWALIFULA AAHH?

  87. Just what the hell is wrong with these silly Tonga chieves, they are honestly a very big embarrassment. Especially this so called Chief Mwanachingwala, who the hell does this fool think he is? If Mukuni does not want to get involved in all this stupid succession politics of their, why start talking about him in such upalatable fashion? Mukuni has a lot of land and the falls, he is not like some of you chingwalas of this world. Besides, us Toka Leyas even though located in Southern Province are actually Lozi hence Banthu Batatwe beinng Lenje, Ila and Tonga excluding Toka Leyas. So basaa leave Mukuni from this silly tunthemba succession politics of Banthu Botatwe.

  88. The Chief is an embarrassment to all of us. Has he got advisers or he is all by himself. Shame on you. Just settle the debt you owe to Chilala and Zeds to sort their own problems. The likes of you and Kateles are an embarrassment to the Zambian people.

  89. i love this world i live in:
The son of man was beloved,
    the jews were chosen;
    Now the tongas prefered,
    as levy has been interred,
i certainly have all the reasons to sit back and laugh. hihihi, hahaha, hehehe, awe sure mwandi, icalo ici!

  90. Kwena na Ngu Ni Democracy, how do we have 18 or so Chaps aspiring to be president. I hear that its not BROWN ENVELOPES doing the rounds amongst the NEC members but BOXES!!!

  91. Zambian Airways owes National Airport about US$1.6 million and Magande has deffered the payment to save the airline from collapsing. And the Post is connected to Zambian Airways. Is this reason why the Post came out strongly in Support of Magande so that their business interests is protected.

  92. Read in between the lines. What the chief is telling us is that anyone can can claim that Levy wanted them to take over since he is no more. He is trying to dilute this “Mwanawasa wanted MAgande to take over thing.” It doesnt hold any water.

  93. #21 you are right. Levy was a failure as a leader. That is why he did not want a vice president in the MMD. Maybe he was under pressure from Maureen to be appointed party vice president?

  94. VISION CARRIER IF EVER U READ THIS,JUST WANTED U TO KNO THAT U R SO KIND.

AND NOW BAK TO THE ISSUE AT HAND,LEKENI UKUIKALIFYA UTUMWA…PRESIDENT WILL VOTE,TEKWISAPOFYE IYYOOOO TWAKANA FWEBENA ZAMBIA.

  95. let the people of zambia choose who they want, this thing of hand picking is not gonna wok out here,we dnt want a minority president this time around.govt shud nt lie that the election is going to be costly, let them use wat was budgeted fot the salary increments and the little money that zain donated coz it seems zain has alot of money to waste

  96. #10, this is not a gossip spot, y’all still be name calling,..who did what, who did who..did you hear blah blah, grow up. that wont change you life, be progressive.

Costern Chilala must be a wise man if he turned down the position, look at the drama going on and who is he anyway? never heard of him.

Every body has turned into a spokeman and # 132, dont stereo type, these are just individuals, dont look at them on tribal lines.

Bloggers, dont you think this is a result ofnot having chosen a strong candidate for VP, our leaders always do this. look at Lupando, Nervers, really put there just to fill up the void otherwise let the future pres learn not to be selfish

  97. It looks like LPM was a liar. magade claims that LPM told him that you will be my sucessor, even this chief has a different story

  98. It’s intresting to see how so many people are concluding about who our late president would have loved to be he’s successor, we don’t know the truth, the late president took the truth to he’s grave so let’s respect the dead. What ever we say or do what won’t change the fate that Zambia is about to face so let’s just wait and see.

  99. Sililio sipatunyana, you are not toka leya. If you were you would have spoken the trueth. by living in livingstone and being welcomed from your Luapula Village does not qualify you to understnad the composition of tribal groupings if you have not bee eductaed in that.
Toka, leya, lumbu, we, Tabwa, lenje,Tonga, illa, Soli tc are very much the grouped under Tonga.
This is similar to like, Chishinga, Bisa, Luba, Bemba, etc being grouped under Bemba.
Also groupings like nsenga, senga, lunda, tumbuka, Kunda, Tumbuka etc under Nynaga
The lozi also composes of dialets like Subiya, Nyengo, Mbunda, luyi etc.
    Dont just YAP..Read history..

  100. LETS BE SERIOUS FOR ONCE. THIS IS NOT A MATTER TO PLAY WITH. CAN BA CHILALA BE A PRESIDENT? THIS CHIEF SHOULD NOT BRING CONFUSIONS LET HIM CONCENTRATE ON ENSURING THAT HIS SUJBJECTS GROW ENOUGH FOOD TO AVOIID POVERTY AND HUNGER IN HIS EREA.

  101. This Chief has been confused with RB’s MMD campaign money and bribes in exchange for endorsements . The death of LPM, his constant supplier of lucres has turned him into a desparado with mounting debts.
These are direct effect of MMD dependnacial syndrome which they perpetrate to have such chief be hooked on handouts.

While his fellow chiefs like Mwata Kazmebe are recovering with great results from the similar addiction in Kafupi administration. This chief has just started feeling the withdrawal symptoms. it will take a while for reality to sink…Please take him for rehabilitation through constitutional induction courses.

  102. #92. MAY YOU PLEASE JUSTIFY YOUR CLAIMS OVER ELIZABETH MWANZA. TAKE CARE OF YOUR TONGUE ON THINGS YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT.

  103. Leave LPM alone.Go and vote for a leader you want and dont blame him for choosing this or that one because he did not choose any one.the people of zambia chose who they want to rule them.A leader can only speculate.LPM was democrat and so are we.We will choose though the vote

  104. People should agree with me that Chief Mwanachingwala sounds tribalistic. I probably don’t even think he had time to talk to the late president Mwanawasa about this issue. Some of us do not even know Constain Chilala, “well we’ve heard of his farm and not who he is. Who is he? I know he’s Tonga by tribe, what else can the Chief say about him? TWAPAPATA IFYA TRIBALISM UKO KWINE KU BU TONGA NOT MUCHALO CHONSE.

  105. No 143- it may sound like its gossip but its wise for people to know about a girl with no morals, lying to men and herself .such behaviour will never stop the increasing high number of HIV in zambia. all because of desperate girls like her.

  106. READ THE EMAIL GOING ROUND AND UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS MISS ZAMBIA STORIES I THINK THE MISS ZAMBIA THINGS SHOULD BE BANNED AS GIRLS ARE NOW ENTERING NOT TO HELP THE NATION BUT TO SELL THEMSELVES FOR MONEY AND HIV

  107. Its so sad that upto now politians and other leaders just want to get to state house, even when hey have no vision or plan and if they have a plan, their plan is to fatted their pockets at the expense of the comon man.
Its now 17 year of democratic rule in Zambia, let the people ddecide on the best candidate to succed our late President. We repect his wishes but, according to our Law,its not wishes but hrough the ballot box that gets the preisdential sit.

  108. I had a dream, he wanted ME to President.I AM ACTUALLY COMING NOW. NAFIPWALALA FI LIDASHIP!!!I LOVE THE ZAMBIANS. VIVA !COMEDY FROM BASHAFUMU. WE NEED EXECUTIVE SUITES AT CHAINAMA FOR THE CHIEFS. I CAN OFFER FREE PSYCHIATRY SERVICES.

  109. Costain relax and stay clean off politics. Don’t be cohersed into it. You are a great man and leadership is not just exhibited by a political career.

  110. Why should we be pre-occupied with what the late LPM’s wishes of who to succeed him were? As has been said, we have a constitution. So why did people expect to hear Levy speak about who to succeed him in his farewell message – after all MMD NEC already chose his successor for MMD. The matter of the Zambian presidence, however, is another and lies in the hands of the electorate.

  111. what is wrong with people talking about cynthia kanema. She is just one pretty woman and all who wrote that email and are responding to it ar just so intimidated by her achievements. so what if she is really doing them. Its non of your ****ing business!! she is an adult. BY the way, i can tell you that she is not a fool to do 200 men. She is a very classy and sexy chick!!
